justbeme · 06/09/2007 17:58

oh ok - thanks
Would it stop you putting your pram out in the garden though?? I havent got a cat net thing.
Lucy has been sleeping well at night after being outside these last few days.
Oh she's woken up now!!

daisyandbabybootoo · 06/09/2007 18:01

I don't think it would bother me, but maybe get some bells or something to attach to the pram. if it does go near the pram and nudges it, the bells should scare it off.

alternatively would some of that spray for keeping cats off keep it at bay?

i'm sure there will be some product available.

andiem · 06/09/2007 18:12

ooh daisy couldn't stop myself but I think you have to be careful some people are vicious

sputnik · 06/09/2007 18:38

I am in a quandary. Eitheer I get DD to take an afternoon nap, which sometimes takes ages, and have a quiet afternoon (shee can happily sleep 2 or 3 hours), or I keep her up, have to put up with her a bit tired but then get an evening watching DVDs and MNing, once we've gone through the bedtime meltdown that skipping the nap entails. Can't decide which I prefer. We can't do the british early bedtime here as that would mean DH would never see her (there is no word in Italian for bedtime btw).

Had a bit of a non-day today really, luckily I had second breakfast as didn't get a shot at eating lunch til about 5 - then it was moree like 3rd breakfast as binged on muesli and toast. Now don't feel much like dinner. 2 up-the-back poos so far, better than yesterday's 3, hope that's it as Baby Sputnik has 1 clean sleepsuit left and that's it.

god what an exciting an fun packed life, eh?

andiem · 06/09/2007 19:06

sputnik I have the same dilemma my ds2 winges and cries form 5 onwards until I settle him at 7 he is particularly bad if he doesn't sleep for a little nap from 3 onwards but I like having my evening so I put up with it

NattyThomasandEllen · 06/09/2007 19:06

know how u feel! you do sooo much in a day that ur run off your feet every second, but you look back at it and think "ive done nothing today" you know except all the poo, and sick, and cooking, cleaning.. (tho all i did was cook today bugger the cleaning im too tired)

Dontknowmyarsefrommyelbow · 06/09/2007 19:08

Hey JBM
Don't want to alarm you but I have heard of foxes attacking babies whilst in back gardens!!
They are utter shits and are VERY dangerous.
I do, however live in the contryside and maybe they are a bit more hardcore out here, I dunno. We do still have the hunt around here so the numbers are controlled.
Don't get me started on foxes!! It's not a topic where I win friends!

NattyThomasandEllen · 06/09/2007 19:09

and tom is def the same, i hate what i call the witching hour (6-7) and god am i glad hes in bed, thank goodness for in the night garden

riabutterflew · 06/09/2007 19:11

i sympathise with the bedtime meltdown. have just had major screaming abdabs from ds2 as dh has taken ds1 to judo and he wanted to go too - not an option as the class is 7-8pm and 20mins drive away. ds3 was aslo yelling. god knows what the neighbours thought! ds2 has just started nursery (rather than playgroup) this week.he has been 3 mornings so far and i really thought he would nap after lunch but hasn't. i am still convinced 3 is too young.

re oosting on other threads. i am on the sw one, but other than that am too scared!

right, am off to see if ds3 will sit in his pram in tyhe kitchen while i try to clean it and make tomato & chickpea soup...

riabutterflew · 06/09/2007 19:14

how come you still have a local hunt dkma?

tried to get baggins to watch tv today but he wasn't having it!

andiem · 06/09/2007 19:15

my lo won't watch tv either dammit

riabutterflew · 06/09/2007 19:22

my house is so quiet. no dh so no tv. ds2 asleep. ds1 out so no "kevin the teenager" stuff and ... lo feeding (again). i am bored now. much as i love mnetting, i need to do something else. i have been sat here nearly all day.

Dontknowmyarsefrommyelbow · 06/09/2007 19:23

The hunt never stopped - they just don't let the dogs kill the fox - they have blokes with guns on quad bikes to do the actual killing.
There is no hunting going on right now tho - it's out of season.

riabutterflew · 06/09/2007 19:29

i see. thats ok then! shan't get into that debate either (mainly cos i have no views either way.) ah.. blokes with guns on quad bikes ... those were the days!

justbeme · 06/09/2007 19:36

Hi DKMA! Im sure it was an urban fox - but we do live just across from Hatfield House where theres acres of farm land......

Does any one know where I could buy vests that are like a wrap around /tie up ones that dont go over babys head??

Dontknowmyarsefrommyelbow · 06/09/2007 19:39

JBM - I got some good wrap around vests from H&M - and they were sooo cheap!

Ria - yeh - blokes on quads with guns are not the answer!!! scare the shit out of me anyway!!! Could be any old pisshead / knobhead!

andiem · 06/09/2007 19:39

zara do them as do h&m

faylisa · 06/09/2007 19:48

Evening all - sounds like we've all had hard days.

I think I win shit mother award as I gave DS baby rice today, at 12 1/2 weeks - he gobbled it down and kept opening his mouth for more.

I know I shouldn't have and I have read the info on it causing intolerances, etc but I didn't know what else to do. He dribbles and crams his hand in his mouth whenever any of us are eating, and he's clealry really hungry after his milk but won't take any more. He was really bad today and wouldn't take more milk or his dummy. I even tried teething granules. He's also grabbing at things constantly and trying to shove them in his mouth - muslins, bibs, my shoulder, the toys on his play arch..... Anyway I've done it now.

NattyThomasandEllen · 06/09/2007 19:54

i have FINALLY caught up with scrabulous.. my god i have too many games running at once will it ever end?

trendaverter · 06/09/2007 19:55

faylisa!
Oh well it seems to have done the job hey!
DS does all that too, cramming stuff in. Bonjela helps!
Have you tried hungry milk?

NattyThomasandEllen · 06/09/2007 19:59

fay i gave ellen baby rice last week on a partically bad day. dont worry about it, if ve u have to you have too. besides all baby rice is is thick milk so its hardly going to do any damage.
i have been using rice flour instead to thicken the milk as it has less "allergents" in it. we dont think your a bad mother xx

daisyandbabybootoo · 06/09/2007 20:00

faylisa don't beat yourself up about it.

My DS had his first taste of babyrice at about 14 weeks, cos the advice then was circa 16 weeks and he was a hungry little fella. I think provided it's not replacing his milk then it's not such an issue. A friend of mine who is a GP was saying that the 6 months guideline set out by the WHO is basically to ensure babies in third world countries are getting optimum nutrition in the first 6 months. She said it's less of an issue in developed countries.

I'm sure plenty of people will disagree, but you know your baby best. I would definately hold off with introducing anything containing gluten though.

All of that aside though, they do have a growth spurt at 12 weeks and if BF, your supply might be affected if he's not feeding on demand cos the rice has filled him up.

trendaverter · 06/09/2007 20:02

Oh christ no not bad mother!
I was just shocked at LO being so hungry!!

I am bad mother too, I have dropped DS in the bath, his pram has tipped over with him in it, the dog keeps running around with his dummy and I just run it under the tap and give it back to DS, oh well!

(PS I also thicken his milk, I use Carobel)

Jamantha · 06/09/2007 20:03

Just found out that I?ve had my trousers on inside out all afternoon! So perhaps it was as well that there was nobody else at stay & chat?

Daisy ? enjoy baby massage, we?re 4 weeks into a 5 week course and it?s been lovely to do. Our baby café is closed though, something to do with a problem with insurance I think. Baby Jamantha has rolled almost onto her side a couple of times but no further and not for very long. I?m sure Baby Boo won?t take long to figure out what to do with that pesky arm.

Re foxes ? my parents had loads of problems with them running through the garden at night and causing damage. Dad used something calle Reynardine (I think) to deter them, but I might have heard something about it now being banned?

faylisa · 06/09/2007 20:05

He is FF and I've tried hungry milk but it has no effect. The food seems to have had no impact on his milk intake. Not planning to do it every day, until 4 months, but i was really desperate today.

Oh well, tomorrow is another day....
