Would anyone like to join as I can't find a thread for the January babies. DS is a few days old born early via emcs but we're doing well. This is our second.

Currently surviving the night feeds by keeping the Jaffa cake production in business and the odd daytime nap.

We had a dreadful night last nights and I'm rather concerned it'll be the same tonight 😭😴😴
He keeps waking when I put him down at the moment.
@ReyGal have you tried a sling? That's what I use when mine doesn't want to be put down. It makes a huge difference!

Mine sleeps mercifully well at night but not a wink during the day. My MIL comes most days to give me a couple of hours rest but she's not well herself so I feel a little bad as she can't stand up and hold the baby, so she's stuck holding him on the sofa. I try to sleep while she's there but I feel pretty guilty so it's hard.

I'm still in pain with my perineum. Everything else seems to have healed but it still doesn't feel great there. There seems to be a lot of scar tissue. Just by touching, no way am I up to looking at it in a mirror...

I read a great tip the other day which was to just read anything to your baby, it doesn'thave to be children's books since they're so small. It's a little hard to find English language books cheaply where I am and I have already gotten bored of reading The Very Hungry Caterpillar for the millionth time, but someone said that, after all,the baby couldn't care less what you read to them, they just like to hear your voice, so now I'm just reading my books to him. I still get to read, it stops me falling asleep and he gets to hear my voice.

How's everyone else doing?

LucaFritz · 20/02/2020 05:13

DS is 4 weeks on Saturday my bleeding has pretty much stopped and the stitches are gone but it still looks very loose and out of shape Blush hope it doesn't stay that way forever but i regret going down with a mirror now and i still haven't plucked up the courage to shave

ProseccoBee · 20/02/2020 14:10

I also regret using the mirror and havnt re looked since! Have got my check at the doctors in 3 weeks time so hoping the nurse says all looks good but I also have a lot of scar tissue and I regret not appreciating my bits pre birth hahah! That is going to be my advice to all who don’t have children -enjoy your vagina, perineum and bum being in one piece!
I’ve started to venture out each day now though and feel better for the fresh air. I took my little one to the weigh clinic yesterday and got the shock of my life when they told me he was 8 lb 11 oz!! I can’t believe he’s gone from 6 pound 10 to nearly 9 in four weeks!! A little bit sad that he doesn’t fit into his tiny baby grows anymore but the health visitors were saying his weight gain was really good and he’s still on his 25th percentile Line so is doing as expected!

Kitten22 · 21/02/2020 19:31

Hi ladies,

Out of interest, what's your heart rate like at the moment. I know that it is quite high at pregnancy but has anyone gone down bk to normal yet or still slightly high? I just checked mine using the stop watch on my phone for 1 minute and counted my pulse. It said 80 and few days ago it was 75. What's yours saying?

Leasy · 23/02/2020 16:28

Am I able to join? My little one was due to come out via elective section on the 15th February (39 weeks) but this little one got impatient and broke my waters early so went in for an emergency c section on the 31st January - just made it in. Grin

ProseccoBee · 23/02/2020 20:44

Welcome @Leasy! How are you recovering? And how is your little one coming on?

I’ve had a lovely weekend, yesterday exhaustion levels reached new heights so husband took pity on me and kept the baby downstairs until last feed then got up during the night for all of the feeds so this morning I was feeling like a new woman after a full nights sleep! Husband has now swapped places with me and is passed as exhaustion!

Has anyone started to watch the Netflix documentary series “Babies” I think it’s called? I watched the first episode earlier and found it really good.

muddypuddlejumping · 23/02/2020 20:58

Not seen that show @ProseccoBee but definitely open to new shows to watch!
That's great about the weight gain. I'm going to get mine weighed this week. He's chunking out though and outgrowing so many clothes 😭
How's everyone's weight loss going? I keep looking at my stomach wondering when it is going to be less puffy. It's still quite sore though (c-section) and I definitely couldn't think about exercise yet so I'm reining in the treats instead.

Leasy · 24/02/2020 09:39

Thanks @ProseccoBee! My recovery is going well, it's frustrating that I can't pick up my 2 year old yet but I will in time, this is my second emergency c section and recovery has been a little easier this time around.
You have a good husband there - mine does the same, only problem is I have to get up through the night anyway to pump as I'm engorged quite often, but its not so bad as when I do I don't have too change baby and get her to settle back down.
I have watched a couple of episodes of babies on Netflix and while interesting, I can't seem to really get into it. I found the documentary (on PBS in the US) the 9 months that made you more interesting. Outta not easy to find outside the US though.
My little one has gained weight like crazy, she's gained about 200gm in a week (she's been eating like crazy too)!
Add for my weight, it's stalled a bit which is frustrating as I still have 20kg to lose, but will be ramping up the effort when I get cleared to exercise again - for now just enjoying snuggle time while I can Smile

ProseccoBee · 25/02/2020 19:46

@muddypuddlejumping you will have to let us know how the little one gets on at the weigh in! I nearly cried when I had to put my tiny newborn clothes away much to my partners amusement! As for my own weight loss I have 10 pounds left to lose in order to be at my pre pregnancy weight! Getting frustrated as it won’t budge! I know it’s only early days but I was so careful not to put on a stupid amount of weight in pregnancy and I’ve been really good with my diet since getting home also. I’ve started walking this week also in order to help with the weight loss and to get me and the little one some fresh air. Not doing a huge amount just aiming for a 5k walk around our local park. The first day my bits killed afterwards and I had to take some pain killers, but as I’m getting used to moving again it’s getting easier every day, although still quite achey and sore. Hopefully I can increase that over the next few weeks and that will help shed the last few pounds!

muddypuddlejumping · 26/02/2020 11:21

@ProseccoBee like you, I've been stagnant for a few weeks with about 10lbs to lose although looks like I've lost 1lb as it's gone down in the last few days. Whoop!
He's up to 10lb 5 and following his centile well.
We're still trying to clear oral thrush so I'm being religious with the treatment now.
Anyone having poor sleep like me?? Tell me I'm not the only one whose baby wakes VERY frequently!

OP posts:
Leasy · 26/02/2020 14:01

@muddypuddlejumping your are definitely not alone, mine has been waking every 2 hours for the last 2 nights, I think she's about to have another growth spurt! It's great but I want her to stay tiny forever lol! But I do need sleep Confused

LoveIsLovely · 28/02/2020 09:16

Hello all.

I'm struggling a little today, I should get off the internet, but pretty hard when you're stuck inside all day. I'm just tired of reading people's opinions I think.

One person I know wrote extensively on a group about how important bonding is after birth, how you need to cuddle your baby for hours after birth and if you don't then the bonding won't happen and so on.

My baby went basically straight to the nursery because I was so exhausted after a terrible labour.

I KNOW this has had no lasting impact on him. He is happy, chill, we have a good bond. But I'm sick of feeling guilty and of people's opinions.

Like I said, I need to step away from the internet.

muddypuddlejumping · 28/02/2020 22:30

@LoveIsLovely it's very hard not to get sucked into that isn't it. I found it tricky with my first, comparing all the time.
If it helps at all, I was separated for several hours with my first while she was in NICU and I was in recovery and we have always had an incredibly close bond. She's school-age now and still a mummy's girl so it's a total load of rubbish. People should not be allowed to post such ridiculous notions.

OP posts:
LoveIsLovely · 29/02/2020 07:45

@muddypuddlejumping It is hard, yes. Good to hear you have a good bond.

I just wish people wouldn't give opinions with such conviction. How can you even prove something like having a good bond or something? It's not exactly scientific is it?

I suppose when things go "right", it's easy to convince yourself that the outcomes will be good and that you did the right thing.

LucaFritz · 03/03/2020 17:22

How's everyone doing ? DS is 5 weeks now and we're getting out and about loads and he's sleeping well think I've made it through the worst few weeks now hope im not the only one

ProseccoBee · 05/03/2020 20:19

Great to hear you’re both doing so well @LucaFritz! We’ve also been getting out and about and it makes a world of difference! Little one had his six week check and is now 10 pound can’t believe that! We have our six week check with the go next week so hoping they’ll check my stitches and tell me they look alright! I was brave and re looked again using a mirror and it’s a massive improvement to what it was although not like it used to be lol! Sleep wise he’s having a solid block of sleep from 7pm to 12 but then every two to three hours and the last two nights he’s been fussy:out of sorts so we’ve been shattered! But on the whole I’m loving being a Mam! And his smile and cuddles are just the best! How is everyone else doing?

LucaFritz · 05/03/2020 22:50

The smiles and cuddles are best i just sit cuddling DS and smelling his head while he sleeps sometimes before he looses his newborn smell for good😔 i think hes about 9 or 10lbs now too hes so heavy to carry! Wish he'd slow down and stop growing up so fast

LoveIsLovely · 06/03/2020 07:29

Mine is 5 weeks and 10lbs too, can't believe, his feet look huge compared to before and he has such good eye contact and loves watching his mobile (the toy, not the phone!)

I just want him to stay this small.

muddypuddlejumping · 06/03/2020 13:00

Mine is over 11lb now and nearly 7 weeks! He's got a sore throat though and a cough so he's only sleeping for about an hour at a time but usually less so I'm really feeling that at the moment.
It's amazing how quickly they grow, isn't it.

OP posts:
LucaFritz · 10/03/2020 02:10

DS is 9lbs now and he can roll over and move himself about i wish he'd slow down and be newborn foreverSad i can't even remember the first few weeks anymore its like it was all a blur

Felinewoman · 11/03/2020 06:25

Hello all! Nice to hear everyone is doing great.
I'm doing ok but DD decided that sleep is not fun and is waking up every 2 hours at night again and really fussy. I hope it passes soon. I'm shattered. We had a few good nights with stretches of 4 or 5 hours. I just want to sleep again!
I think she senses daddy being away. He's back in less. Than 2 weeks luckily and i hope things will ease up then.
DD is 7 weeks now and she finally got some baby chub. She was so tiny and now looks like a happy baby. She's over 9lb now :-)

Leasy · 11/03/2020 14:25

Oh @Felinewoman, I feel for you - mine woke me up every hour or so after 1am - she's quite windy though and keeps asking to comfort feed. Super frustrating as the night before she slept a solid 5 hour stretch!
Maybe your DD senses your apprehension at daddy being away?
My DD is 6 weeks on Friday and has now just reached 10lb, much quicker than my first who reached that at almost 3 months!!

LucaFritz · 13/03/2020 03:34

Does anyone else feed lying down ? Might just be me as i co sleep but i just sleep topless and pull ds towards me when he wants to feed then i stick him back on his side of my bed and im back to sleep not long after. I scared myself the other day though worrying about my supply again as i dont leak or get engorged anymore and ds doesn't do as many poos but a quick look online and apparently its normal for 7 weeks and hes such a chubby little chunk too Halo honestly worry myself silly about him some days

Felinewoman · 13/03/2020 05:59

@LucaFritz I had the same worries last week. Dd is only pooping once a day now and my boobs feel soft and feel. Somewhat empty.
I went on the scale with her and she seems to be gaining weight fine so I think you're right. It's normal.
I did try to feed lying down but it's hard. My breasts are quite small.
