Sorry, couldn't think of anything witty against a background of constant whinging!

Well DS coped pretty well with his jabs...he has been awake all day chatting and playing in his bouncy chair. Clearly not too traumatised/feverish!

I, on the other hand, am knackered. He's 2 months old ffs, how can he require constant entertainment? It's either me, or the tv, nothing else cuts it.

justbeme · 23/08/2007 20:01

i know its difficult to know what to with them isnt it TA?

justbeme · 23/08/2007 20:07

i just had lucy curled up on my front whilst typing and i felt a warm sensation - her lidls nappy leaked wee over the top! mind you had a pampers leak this morning.

TALLULAHBELLE · 23/08/2007 20:23

Hi all,
One step forward & 2 steps back on the sleep front. After DD's mammoth 8 hr sleep t'other night she refused to go till 11 last night woke up again at 3, 7 & 9 & has now been sleeping since 6pm when she should be awake & ready to start bedtime routine. What do I do now? Wake her or leave her? Any advice?

Daisy I am inspired on the nappy issue & have decided to buy some terries @ the weekend. What else do I need - pins, waterproofs, liners I expect, anything else? Hope you're around with advice on how to fold them too. Are the waterproof pants a bit sweaty, btw?

Dontknowmyarsefrommyelbow · 23/08/2007 20:48

Hey

I think I'm growing a monster here!
LO and I had our check up with the GP and all is good!
He's 7.5 weeks now and weighs 13.1lbs and he is 62.5cm long
He's like a puppy with big paws (he has massive hands and feet) he's gonna be huge!!

Dontknowmyarsefrommyelbow · 23/08/2007 20:49

Tallula - what a bummer about the sleep!?

faylisa · 23/08/2007 20:51

I know the feeling about growing a monster - people keep referring to DS as 'a bruiser' and saying 'he's going to be a rugby player' - he was weighed today, at 10 weeks, and is 14lb 12oz!

sputnik · 23/08/2007 20:55

JBM, before shelling out 160 quid on one kind of nappy maybe you should try a few of different types to see what suits you and your DD. Also, I found 1-size were fine from a few months - might save you a bit.

Maybe terries really are the way to go, a darn sight cheaper too. Tallulah, I would recommend disposable liners and I always found mothease wraps really good, not sweaty I don't think. Nowadays there's something called nappy nippas instead of pins to secure them.

Good luck!

sputnik · 23/08/2007 20:57

One more for the rugby team here. Mine would have his pick of playing for Wales, England or Italy!

sputnik · 23/08/2007 20:59

Motherease liners that should be

loonylovegood · 23/08/2007 21:00

How do you think I feel? I gave birth to a monster!

TALLULAHBELLE · 23/08/2007 21:01

LOL @ all the big bruisers. My wee tiddler weighed in @ 9 lb 8 today - she will be 10 weeks on Sat - doubt she'll make the team.

trendaverter · 23/08/2007 21:12

Bloody hell I thought DS was a big boy, he's a tiddler compared to your lot!

daisyandbabybootoo · 23/08/2007 21:17

jbm....I've got a bambinex bamboo...it's pink and soft and lovely and DD looks really cute in it. It is also really absorbent and after four hours still ahs dry bits around the waist...but it does take an age to dry. I've just ordered six more from Nappy Needs. with the fleece liners and wet bag and mesh, the nappies are only working out at about £6 each...bargain. I also bought a fleece wrap and a nappy bucket so qualify for the free gift of baby legs!

tallulah, I got some fleece washable liners in with the second hand stuff I bought and they are really good. They wick all the wetness away and keep babyboos bottom nice and dry.

I've also got a bimble (newborn) nappy which is a shaped cotton terry nappy with a fleece layer on the inside, a pull out booster and a pocket for stuffing. It's great too. The big brother of it is the bumble. Flame sells them both and they are good value as only £6 each.

I'd go with motherease rikki wrap as it has managed to contain DDs explosive twice a week poo.

I'm still working out which ones I prefer from the batch i bought from flame and second hand.....it's nice to have a few different ones...one for every occasion!!

You can tell I've researched this thoroughly, can't you? Now if only I could be this obsessive about my housework

daisyandbabybootoo · 23/08/2007 21:22

DD not a tiddler, but not massive either. She's between 25th and 50th centile on the charts, but people keep telling me how big she is . Maybe she's long, but compared to DS at that age she is a tiddler.

boobs still sore. I've not used any of the medication yet, as i want to see the BF counsellor tomorrow before I take them to get positioning and latch checked out. will need to take DS with me to the baby cafe...that should be interesting!

bumperlicious · 23/08/2007 21:50

Mine's a tiddler, she is between the 9th and 25th centiles, though she is long.

We've just been to see Simpson's the movie - very funny! We left DD with our friends who live in our building and she was as good as gold!

Got 4 house viewings tomorrow. Oh, I don't want to leave. Some of our best friends live upstairs. I want to be able to go for dinner at theirs in my slippers!

daisyandbabybootoo · 23/08/2007 21:59

hey bumper...I hope one of these houses works out for you.

LOL at you going up for dinner in your slippers. You'll just need to go all glammed up instead in future...and get DH to drive so you can have a drink!

Good on you for leaving your DD though. I've only left Babyboo two or three times, and that's been with DH!! MIL itching to babysit, but her BF comments are making me more determined to keep it up for as long as possible, even though it's not much fun at the moment Thank the lord she ususally goes all night!

bumperlicious · 23/08/2007 22:06

Sorry you are not having a good time with the BF. Just when you think you have it cracked a new challenge comes along! Better go and talk to DH, it is his birthday after all

OP posts:
daisyandbabybootoo · 23/08/2007 22:14

everyone has gone.....either feeding their giant babies or looking at cloth nappies!

G'night all.

riabutterflew · 23/08/2007 22:34

just catching up...

at you going to dinner in your slippers bumper - you ARE the queen of shoes! Did DH enjoy his birthday treat btw? I think my DH might be 42 too. Seriously though, I hope the house thing works out, fingers crossed you find the house you've always wanted for half the rent you want to pay.

Holly, my parents have taken the big boys away so I can clean my house too. Have spent the day mucking out DS1s room again, then DH got a bit miffed cos I was still ironing at 9pm. (I think DKMAs horse is probably cleaner than DS1)!

Last week at 8 weeks DS3 was 11lb4oz and he is also long. He is growing out of his 0-3 clothes. He wore a shirt and shorts set today that grandma (MIL) bought him and he looked like a toddler.

will catch up with the rest and be back...

riabutterflew · 23/08/2007 22:36

and now everyone else has gone...

Never mind, that gives me time to catch up on facebook.

My typing has gone to pot too, didn't realise prozac cured that aswell!

riabutterflew · 23/08/2007 22:37

am picking the maltesers and minstrels out of DHs revels and mistakenly got a raisin. YUK!

riabutterflew · 23/08/2007 22:52

yippee. DHs crappy film has finished. We can interact at last (wonder if Top Gear is on...?)

We watched The Lake House last night. DH cried. I thought sentimetal twaddle and didn't get it. The bloke was dead for crying out loud. Wouldn't happen to me.

bumperlicious · 24/08/2007 07:15

Aww ria, i loved the lake house! Although i don't normally like that type of crap, but keanu is hot (so is sandra bullock come to that!)

thank for the message about the house. glad the prozac is working out ! DH didn't get a treat in the end -god I'm a bad wife - but I'm just sooo tired! Plus I think I'm traumatised from out first post baby foray back into intimate relations when it hurt so much. Poor man, he must be bursting at the seams !

trendaverter · 24/08/2007 08:04
