Sorry, couldn't think of anything witty against a background of constant whinging!

Dancing sheep????

andiem · 27/08/2007 17:04

lol dancing sheep

faylisa · 27/08/2007 17:51

They really did dance - well they sort of shuffled to the music - made me laugh though,\for the first time in a few weeks!

andiem · 27/08/2007 17:52

wish I'd been there

faylisa · 27/08/2007 19:46

Hellloooooooo is anybody there????????

Jamantha · 27/08/2007 20:00

Seems like I've been out of the loop for ages. Didn't even know this thread existed until 5 mins ago, and sorry but can't cope with reading through all the posts. You girls have been really chatty! Not quite sure why I've been so quiet of late, but partly because been devoting time to LO I guess. Hope you'll all forgive me and let me come back in?

Night times are getting a bit easier - she's settling fairly well with a bottle of formula to top up a feed from me, then (most nights) sleeping for ages. Last night she slept from 8pm to 3am and then from 3.45am to 7.10am! Daytimes are very demanding still though. She's not so keen on daytime napping, unless on my lap or while being pushed in the Phil & Ted. Some days I persevere trying to get her to go down in her basket and other days I go with the flow and let her nap on me. Am now thinking that she won't fit in the moses basket much longer, so might just wait and see how she goes when she moves onto a proper cot in her own room.

Anyway that's what's been happening with me, plus lots of walking and some smiles but lots of grizzling - largely due to be tired from not wanting to nap (could be said to apply to both of us some days except that I do want to nap ) Some days seem to drag and get me down still but I can feel it getting slightly better.
I hope that if I can keep up to date here a bit more it will help the bad days pass better?

Oh and I should get my first baby-free night out this week!! Am quite excited. Hoping to go for a meal with work friends. It will be just a couple of hours or so after I've done my part of the bedtime feed, but will be SO nice to get away from babies and baby talk for a bit. All the places I go now are with other mums and we talk mainly about our babies, which is useful and reassuring etc but it'll be nice to get away from that for an evening. My only worry is that I won't have anything to say other than baby stuff, because my while life has revolved around her for the past 10 or 11 weeks. But really looking forward to letting others bring me up to speed with the rest of the world if nothing else.

trendaverter · 27/08/2007 20:41

Still feel sick
LO not slept all day

daisyandbabybootoo · 27/08/2007 20:42

good evening...i hope everyone had a good bank holiday...well as good as it can be considering traffic jams, beauty spots full to bursting etc etc.

LOL at the dancing sheep...there was one on the TV a few weeks ago from the harrogate show. Wish I'd seen it; sheep are one of my favourite animals!

We went to Bolton Abbey and the car park was stuffed by the time we got there at 10:30...so went further up river, parked in a field and went for a walk. WE only did about two miles, but my pelvis is aching. I must get out walking more (and doing my pelives exercises) once DS goes back to school. along the banks of the River Wharfe.

Hi Jamantha ...I was wondering where you had got too...thought you were maybe on holiday. LOL at your night out...it willl be very difficult to stay off the subject of DD and you will be wondering how she is all the time and will probably bail early as you can't bear being away from her any longer....at least I did with my DS when he was about 8 weeks old and I went for a meal with my sis and her DH.

DD on another growth spurt...she fed for nearly two hours without a break. Every thim I tried to sit her up, she started boo hoo hooing (that full on cry that they have), going stiff so I couldn't sit her up, and throwiing herself back to a lying position.

Had a great day with her though. She was really alert when we were walking and got very excited by the ducks on the river and a field of cows!

sputnik · 27/08/2007 20:46

Hi Jamantha, glad to hear things are going a bit easier for you. You just have to take one day at a time, anyway they're little for such a short time, enjoy having her snooze on you while you can, it's a lovely feeling and a great excuse for not doing the cleaning or whatever!

Where is everyone tonight???

daisyandbabybootoo · 27/08/2007 20:46

hi TA...glad your naming day was a success but at the sickness. Had the cheesecake been sitting out in the sun or something? and is anyone else ill?

I was sick on holiday and it wasn't nice at all....brought back too many memories of morning sickness!

DH has gone back to lincs this evening. I'm glad of a bit of peace and quiet

sputnik · 27/08/2007 20:49

Evening Daisy glad you got your thrush sorted, is it better now?

loonylovegood · 27/08/2007 20:50

Evening! SO much to catch up on! Got down as far as BZ's dd swearing and gave up!

BZ my 2yo dd has come out with shit, fucking hell, bugger and shut up! Yesterday she told me I was doing her bloody head in! So don't worry, you're not the only one with a potty mouthed child!

TA, sorry you are feeling shitty, hope it goes soon.

Daisy, I blame you for my new found nappy addiction! I can't get off the nappy lady site! I have bought some fleece totsbots wraps, some little lamb wraps, some nippas and loads more! Too much money being spent here!

sputnik · 27/08/2007 20:52

By the way Jamantha (also Andiem, I think), you missed all the Facebook fun the other week. If you want to join then give us your emails and one of us can invite you

Back to dancing sheep..... I'm amazed you can teach a sheep anything tbh, maybe they are radio controlled or something?

sputnik · 27/08/2007 20:56

LOL at the doing your bloody head in!

Joining in the reusable nappy theme, I have some nappy pants a friend of my mum's gave me, I don't need them as I have lots of wraps, so am offereing them free to anyone that wants them, any bidders?

Jamantha · 27/08/2007 20:57

Thanks Sputnik. I don't normally mind her snoozing on me, she is so cute, and it really is lovely to have her close to me (unlike during the long crying sessions that always occur late afternoon). The HV kept telling me how I MUST get her to sleep on her own in the basket and it really wound me up, trying to do this and wearing myself out while largely failing to do so. I have found it better since ignoring this advice and to take the attitude that as long as she sleeps well on her own at night, I won't worry too much about the days. But as I said she gets so tired but won't sleep that by late afternoon she's a right grumpy monster, and we always end up instigating Baby Time Out, where she lies face down on my lap, head in my hand, sucking my little finger, as it's the only thing to calm her once she's in that state.

Daisy - I'm sure I will want to talk about DD, being such a proud mumsey and all, but don't think I'll be that upset by being away from her. Normally once I've fed her at bedtime, DH gives her a bottle of formula and settles her. So I can be 99.5% confident that she'll be asleep within 15 mins of me leaving and won't wake until long after I get home. Even if she does wake after going to sleep it's usually DH that goes in to her (until I go to bed) so it won't make any difference to her if I'm in the house or not. That's the theory anyway, but I'm prepared to be proved wrong

daisyandbabybootoo · 27/08/2007 21:01

ooh holly someone to share my addiction with! i've got some ella's house bumhuggers which are great for nights, and i've just ordered some more bambinex bamboo and some new wraps including a totsbots fleece. I'm also thinking of ordering a wool wrap to give it a go...apparently they don't need washing, ever!
DH is frightened of them all and uses a disposable whenever he has to change her! can't wait till i run out of disposables

Jamantha · 27/08/2007 21:02

Oh, and thanks but I'll pass on facebook for now I think, it'll just be something else I won't have time to use! Will let you know if I change my mind though.

Also, we went to Cliveden National Trust property today, and I had almost half an hour sitting on a bench BFing DD. Put the Phil & Ted between me and the path to give a bit of cover and nobody seemed to pay us any attention. But one woman said very loudly to her husband as they came past "look straight ahead", and I wasn't sure if she meant "look at the lovely view of the river up ahead" or "keep your beady eyes off that woman's norks!"

sputnik · 27/08/2007 21:02

Jamantha, my DD used to have long crying sessions in the afternoon/evening, we called it unhappy hour but it usually lasted more than an hour. It's so demoralising when you can't do anything to stop them crying.

I get Baby sputnik to nap in the day by pushing the pram back and forth, have you tried that?

sputnik · 27/08/2007 21:06

Ooh, I have a bumhuggere too Daisy, it has pawprint design on the inside. how are you doing for nights in washables? have to admit I always used a disposable at night

Jamantha · 27/08/2007 21:09

And finally (it'll be my bedtime soon) on the subject of foul mouthed infants, a woman from work got her kids to use initials instead of full swear words. Not so bad until one of them got upset and mixed up one night and called the grandfather a Fing C, but using the full words instead of the initials .

loonylovegood · 27/08/2007 21:10

After that quick hello, I'm off to watch Pirates of the Caribbean! Night! x

BTW daisy I am now obsessed, I'm sure this is gonna cost me more than disposables! Can't wait to get the totsbots wraps, I've ordered on dotty and one stripey! They are so cute! Let me know how you get on with your new ones as I have no idea what to get next!

Love to all

xxx

loonylovegood · 27/08/2007 21:12

I use disposables at night too sputnik after the other night soaking through the bed! Wouldn't be so bad if we didn't co-sleep!

Night xx

annobal · 27/08/2007 21:15

Hey everyone. We went to Tankerton and had fish and chips on the foreshore. It was lovely .

Oops, I seem to have misplaced a lighter (to light a candle, not a cigarette) - have just been told off by DH.

Haven't caught up yet on the last couple of days. I did read the last couple - real nappy buying is really addictive Daisy - would join you but don't think I'm ready for all that washing (ds still pooing most nappies).

Hope everyone's well. I'm off to watch Dirt then go do last feed and sleep.

daisyandbabybootoo · 27/08/2007 21:20

lol jamantha....I sat in the front seat of the car today and fed DD with an audience of about 12! We had parked well away from the other cars in a hooooge field. when we got back from our walk, we had been hemmed in on both sides...families having picnics practically a foot from the car door. I hope I put them off their sarnies . they could've stopped anywhere FGS, but chose right next to us!

sputnik...have used the bumhuggers with a rikki wrap and no leaks even after her having her first feed of the morning so she's been in the nappy for nearly 12 hours. I've got her in a prorap tonight with an extra hemp booster as the wrap isn't great.

I'm trying to resist buying one of these sets.
