Sorry, couldn't think of anything witty against a background of constant whinging!

I have become very blase this time around about public breastfeeding, was quite self-concious with DD but this time I don't seem to give a flying fuck. people don't actually notice most of the time, or don't seem to.

daisyandbabybootoo · 27/08/2007 22:07

I never managed to BF publicly with DS as I needed to be topless to do it successfully, so am still quite subconscious about it, although getting better. Now the thrush has been sorted out (DD not being fussy and clucking/lip-smacking/nipple twanging at all now), I'm sure I'll feel much better about it now!

derlor · 27/08/2007 22:12

hello,
bet everyone is just about to go to bed??
i have issues with BF in public cause i have so much milk that it sprays everywhere when Abbie comes off to breathe, cough, and splutter. Not the best to spray breast milk into innocent peoples' coffee in a cafe!!
no bank holiday here, just a regular day, no crazy traffic jams though.

derlor · 27/08/2007 22:30

...............oh shit i've killed the thread! oh well, night then x

being scottish and now living in England, I much prefer the scottish system of local holidays. the fact that everyone in England is off and trying to go places on the same day and ther resulting traffic chaos is very very tedious.

I also love the fact that in Scotland you can be the only people on the beach even in August, but here it's like a farking seal colony

DG....didn't know you were a nappy guru too!

I'll be up for the Scottish meet-up when it happens ladies...I can combine it with a trip to my rellies...DG, my family are mostly in Kirkcaldy!

bumperlicious · 27/08/2007 22:57

Just popping in to say hi. TA glad DS's naming party went well. Hope you are feeling better.

Hi to everyone else. Looking forward to the meet up, but I have to warn you that I talk a lot when I'm nervous so apologies in advance!

Jamantha good luck on your night out. I went out with some work friends a couple of weeks ago and ate and drank too much and woke up at 4am feeling v sick! So just a warning to remember that you haven't drunk in months!

Got to go, time for DD's last feed before bed, night xxxx

Aw Trace, so sorry to hear this . I'm at a loss for something helpful to say to you, but sending you and your family big virtual hugs. I hope you get some answers soon and that they can get these seizures under control.

loonylovegood · 28/08/2007 08:28

Oh trace, you poor thing! I don't really know what to say either, just that I am thinking of you and hope things get better soon. x

andiem · 28/08/2007 08:46

Trace so sorry to see your news. I really hope you get to see the consultant soon. It must be really scary to be at home with her but you are doing a fantastic job.

Charlie999 · 28/08/2007 09:41

Oh Trace , I hope things are getting sorted at the hospital and Chole's appointment is bought forward. You found some great advice on the SN board. Stay strong xx

Morning everyone

Is Hornimans still on tomorrow. What time? Where did people park last time?

Bumper, when I'm nervous, I'm the complete opposite to you....sit in a corner and busy myself with DD . How are you doing? Better I hope....I have felt like you did the other day recently with DD....NO time to myself.....will be very odd going back to work and not having her with me

Blimey haven't been on here all weekend and it disappeared off my Threads I'm on list....thats a first for me

andiem · 28/08/2007 09:51

Hi Charlie I am going too have never been there before so don't know where to park or anything

Charlie999 · 28/08/2007 10:00

Hi Andiem

A few went a couple of weeks ago, so hopefully someone will give us the low-down on where to park. I know where it is as I lived in Forest Hill for about 5 years - but managed never to go there .

BadZelda · 28/08/2007 10:07

Morning all...hope you're all well? DD1 and DD2 are both playing in the baby gym at the moment...it's very sweet. Also DD1 just said 'matilda, I'll show you how to do a wee wee in the potty.' She then disappeared, came back with the potty, and just as promised sat down and did a wee on it. Hurrah!

R.e. this cloth nappies thing: I have just been using folded up muslins and a wrap since yesterday, and it seems to be working quite well. They dry in about 10 minutes as well. Not sure how it will work r.e. nappy rash though? They have been soaking wet when taken off, even though not leaking through the wrap. Surely this is bad for their little bottoms?

BadZelda · 28/08/2007 10:08

r.e. parking I'll be bus'ing it up there, but I think there's a big parking area at the back?

bumperlicious · 28/08/2007 10:08

Hi all, thanks for asking charlie, I'm feeling better now. Still really tired though, so might go to dr's for a blood test when I get a chance. Is there a plan for tomorrow? I'm off to my mum's tonight, it's much closer to London.

DD has really seemed to have discovered her hands this week, she keeps looking at them, using them to rub her eyes when she is tired and has started to reach out for stuff, though she hasn't yet learned that she needs to unclasp her fists!

OP posts:
Charlie999 · 28/08/2007 10:17

You should definitely get the blood test Bumper - you may be anaemic or it might be your thyroid.

Sounds lovely with your DD discovering her hands Bumper - I unclasped K's hands to cut her nails yesterday and discovered loads of fluff and dirt in between all the creases in her palms and fingers

I've been reading all this nappy talk with interest but I'd never thought about muslins - I use them for sick and dribble mostly - but also have become her comforter to go to sleep - she covers her face with it!

Does the muslin last overnight BZ?

Have to admit to contributing to landfill in this house

daisyandbabybootoo · 28/08/2007 10:18

Morning all....am very of your meet at the Horniman tomorrow. We really need to sort out a Northern meet up, but the problem with us lot "oop ere" is we cover a huge geographic area. But, if Bumper, Holly and TA can do it from out of London, then we can surely sort something out....

Annobal.....I love you Got the fuzzis this morning...you've saved me an absolute fortune! Are you sure you don't want anything for them? Thinking I might use the large ones as a night-time pull-up for DS...he, unfortunately, won't hear of it!!

daisyandbabybootoo · 28/08/2007 10:21

BZ...I've got fleece liners which wick all the moisture away from bub into nappy. Her bum feels as dry as with a disposable when nappy is soggy. They cost about £3.00 for 10, or you can make your own if you've got any old fleece jumpers that you no longer wear lying around!! Don't use fabric conditioner on them though!

Bumper, get yourself tested soon as. Tired mums are not happy mums!

Charlie999 · 28/08/2007 10:22

Morning Daisy - how you doing? Things a bit better this week?

Oh god, its come over really cloudy and my washing line is packed with 4 days worth of washing....better go and rescue it....

loonylovegood · 28/08/2007 10:26

Daisy, thanks for showing me the Ella's House website (not)!! I now have to buy some stuff from it! You are evil!

annobal · 28/08/2007 10:30

Ooh, glad you got them Daisy, enjoy !

re Horniman's, I didn't know about a parking area at the back, I normally park in the street opposite or to the left hand side (as you are looking at the front).

I'm not sure if I can make it tomorrow - I have a drs appt at 2.40 so I'd have to leave before 2. What time are people meeting?
