Thread number 2 for our August / September 2019 due date babies.

DS is having a regression on nighttime sleep since moving over to combi - seems to want to wale at 1am whereas before would always go through until 3am...

Not elasticated at the back, but I'm really impressed with the Aldi premium nappies. Not a single leak since trying them and there have been some poos I was fully expecting to be right up the back.

I've got a stock of Tots Bots to try but can't figure out how to fit in the washing and sorting. We're drowning in washing as it is and the house is a tip. DH suggested I sold them on if I'm not going to use them, really not sure what to do.

THAT90sBITCH · 20/01/2020 13:21

Think i would sell them stroan i know i could not manage the washing!

DustyDoorframes · 20/01/2020 14:36

@Decaf that is a big reason which drives people to washables! You could try putting a washable wrap over your disposable nappy, then if you get a blowout you are only dealing with changing the wrap, not the whole outfit. (We do this when travelling, it has saved our bacon many a time!). I second the Aldi love too.
Woot @Megan2018 ! Our overnight nappies as recommended by the nappy lady in 2013 are threadbare but still going strong!
@Stroan I guess it depends how much of your washing is poo leaks. If it's significant then you are as well washing nappies. Also- you don't need to decide now. You've got years of nappies still to go (oh joy!). I reckon nappies are a quarter or less of our washing. So much washing...

Megan2018 · 20/01/2020 14:37

@Stroan
I wash alternate days and put them in the machine when I go to bed on timer to come on at 6am, then they are done at 9.30 so I hang when I get up. That way they don’t seem to take up any of my time Smile.

I worked out that with nappies we do at least 12 loads a week, so as long as I do 2 loads every day we are on top of it.

Stroan · 20/01/2020 14:56

Decaf, just checked those Aldi nappies and they ARE elasticated at the back.

I'm already doing two loads a day, and never seem to get near the bottom of the laundry basket (never mind the rest of the housework!). Maybe when he's more reliably napping I can get started.

Stroan · 20/01/2020 15:16

Have to laugh or I'll cry. DS has just spectacularly vomited over my top, trousers, suede boots, DDs jacket, his top and star wrap. Plus he's soaked NINE muslins today.

Might explain my washing issues! I'm changing our bed two-three times a week, plus various cushions, pillows etc. I hate reflux.

DustyDoorframes · 20/01/2020 16:14

Argh @stroan!!!!! Yes, it does sound like you are better off waiting for the reflux to settle down...
We are on about 10 loads a week with the 5 of us (plus the odd wet bed from the three year old, but they are getting more sporadic thank goodness)

THAT90sBITCH · 20/01/2020 16:15

What colour packet aldi nappies?

DustyDoorframes · 20/01/2020 16:37

Icy blue premium ones I think.

THAT90sBITCH · 20/01/2020 18:21

Seems they are only available in select stores which my local is not!

PollyRoe16 · 20/01/2020 19:35

I'm trying a reusable booster in a disposable nappy tonight to see if it holds all the wees Arlo seems to do at night.
Also starting to think he has silent reflux with the way he's screaming in the middle of the night

Horehound · 20/01/2020 20:16

@Megan2018 are you putting yours on a rinse, a long hot wash and then a rinse again? I thought that's what we have to do but your wash seems done in a short amount of time? My long was is 3 hours long and then add on two rinses in that as well. Takes ages but I do think they hold poop in a lot better so are worth it.

Horehound · 20/01/2020 20:18

Oh and I'm using pampers at night because their absorption is amazing. Like holds loads.
I did use reusables bit they keep the bum more wet and wasn't good for Arthur's skin. The pampers have a kind of net so everything is absorbed and kept off him it seems. I really like them.

Littlehouseinthebigcity · 20/01/2020 20:26

Trying to work towards having an evening out - any tips for getting an ebf baby to take a bottle from someone else!? I eventually got 2.5pz down her this evening but she wouldn't take it from DH!

Horehound · 20/01/2020 20:42

Arthur just took small amounts when I've left him even though he usually is a total no no for me and my husband.
He'll take like 30ml Mac at each go with someone else so won't starve.
I've left him four times now and it's always been ok

Megan2018 · 20/01/2020 21:04

@Horehound I do a rinse at night which is 24 mins, then add the powder and set timer for 6am. I use the anti allergy cycle at 60 as recommended by TNL as it contains extra rinses within the programme (to get rid of excess detergent to prevent skin irritation) so it is ideal for cloth, its a 3.5hr programme. Perfect nappies so far at least although obvs not contended with weaning poo yet Grin

Horehound · 20/01/2020 21:07

Ohhh didn't know that about anti allergy...will use that one from now on.. thanks!

happydays00 · 21/01/2020 08:20

@THAT90sBITCH Asda's nappies have elastic at the back and are brilliant! I think Sainsbury's do too!

Megan2018 · 21/01/2020 08:42

@Horehound just check the manual for your machine to make sure its the same, but on mine it is a very long intense cycle. It seems to do a good job!

Megan2018 · 21/01/2020 08:52

This is what it says in the manual for mine Smile

Felicity has mastered tummy to front rolling Grin she is very pleased with herself. I wish she’d apply the same commitment to learning to sleep!

Megan2018 · 21/01/2020 15:50

Oh and I had the chance to weigh her as my baby massage class has proper baby scales, 5.2kg (11lb, 7) at 18+2. Still dinky but actually now at 2nd centile (was just under)

Dyra · 21/01/2020 15:53

Congratulations Felicity. 🥳

DustyDoorframes · 21/01/2020 16:13

Woohoo felicity! Two lovely milestones!
I think we have the same washing machine @Megan2018 haha! I was using the allergy programme too, until I bought some rather lovely nappies which insist on 40 washes. I might just take my chances and switch back though...

yevans · 22/01/2020 21:26

This week is kicking my butt. 16 week jabs on Monday, then the cold that she had been brewing seemed to come through on Tuesday and to top it off, the 4 month sleep regression. She has been up every hour at night for the past 5 nights (every half an hour last night) and absolutely screams unless I shove a boob in. Please tell me it gets better. Haven't felt this tired since she was tiny 😭😭
