Thread number 2 for our August / September 2019 due date babies.

DS is having a regression on nighttime sleep since moving over to combi - seems to want to wale at 1am whereas before would always go through until 3am...

Oh she is such a little dot megan!

BabyDECAF touches both ends of the carrycot with no space at all

Megan2018 · 02/01/2020 16:17

To be fair our carrycot is big (icandy all terrain) and so is the crib (Tutti Bambini) so I don’t think she’ll ever grow out before she can sit/stand and need to switch for safety. Mind you she prefers to sleep in a Super Kingsize bed and also likes the car seat on the pushchair instead of pram! Grin

We do attract plenty of attention when out, people often comment on how dinky she is (in a good way). She’s quite the charmer!

Aw @Megan2018 she's gorgeous! Glad to see another little one 😁 Catherine is still comfortably in her crib and carry cot too, and is just starting to totally fill 0-3 so guess we'll move to 3-6 with her next growth spurt. She's delightfully chubby with many rolls though so I don't think of her as small!

THAT90sBITCH · 02/01/2020 16:51

That Christmas tree picture is so lovely megan!

No idea how much babyDECAF weighs but he was near 14lb at his 8 week check!

yevans · 02/01/2020 17:34

Another long girl here, 14 weeks and coming to the end of most 3-6 baby grows...

Dyra · 02/01/2020 18:04

Sorry to hear you had a bad night @DECAF. Hope all went well with your essay and you'll have a much better night tonight.

That is a delightful photo @Megan2018. Really cute.

Such differences in sizes with our babies! Alice is 17 weeks today. Last weigh in at 15 weeks was just over 12lb. She's a bit chunky all over, except her tummy. She's my dinky dot. 🥰

She went into 3-6 month clothes at the start of December. She might have been ok in 0-3 for another week or two more, but I wanted to get her stuff into the loft when I got the Christmas decorations down. She's definitely had a growth spurt recently, so the clothes are fitting much better.

Carrycot has loads more time in it, but the Moses basket has maybe only a month or two left in it. My biggest issue with the basket however is that she's been trying to roll back to front on her play mat! She's gotten close a few times, but she hasn't figured out what to do with her trailing arm, so she keeps getting stuck. It's just a matter of time....

db92 · 02/01/2020 18:50

She's is beautiful @Megan2018 . We ditched the Moses basket at about 8 weeks. Purely because he likes to starfish when he sleeps and was waking himself up by hitting the sides with his arms. I think we still have a good amount of room in the carrycot too but like your little one Megan, he likes to have a nosey around in the car seat instead. So we might switch to the seat at the end of the month and see how we get on

yevans · 02/01/2020 19:30

So I was convinced baby had a tooth coming through, she had all the teething signs, a little white lump and I could feel it was sort of sharp. Two weeks later and it's disappeared...any ideas??

Horehound · 02/01/2020 19:33

Hmm maybe the gum healed over it again if it stopped coming through?

Horehound · 02/01/2020 19:33

If you run a clean finger along the gum can you feel anything?

happydays00 · 02/01/2020 21:25

@yevans DS had a couple of these and according to google (!) his seemed to be ulcers which cleared up by about 15 weeks maybe.

I can definitely see the two bottom teeth in the base of his gums now. Got a good look when he was screaming during his jabs today. He's 20 weeks today but we've been delayed with the jabs through various illnesses! DS is fitting in 3-6 months clothes now, don't think he's particularly long but very chubby.

happydays00 · 02/01/2020 21:26

Oh DS's gums didn't feel sharp with the ulcers... no idea about that one I'm afraid!

yevans · 02/01/2020 21:52

Hmm it's weird because it really looked and felt like a tooth! When I feel it now, it just feels like a hard gum like the rest of her gums! Very odd

Hannahb123 · 02/01/2020 22:11

@Stroan hey sorry it's
Took so long to get back with Christmas and Lola being poorly it's been mad lol

She's slot better today actually I thought I was going to have to
Take her back in New Year's Eve but she's really come along way Since then so
Fingers crossed this is it now xxx

Hannahb123 · 02/01/2020 22:14

@DustyDoorframes she's alot better thankfully and she's drinking a lot more so I'm not as worried 😀 thank god xx

Horehound · 03/01/2020 00:35

HOW do you get a baby to sleep in their cot?!
He's fed, in his bag, lullaby lamb with white noise going....he's just whining making noises at it and thrashing his arms around.
When we out him in it earlier just to keep him safe whilst we changed our bed he was rolling over etc in it. But he gets all the way over and then one arm is stuck under him so he starts to cry. I don't see how he will go to sleep and I don't see how he will not roll over and face plant in the night?

KnobJockey · 03/01/2020 08:15

Horehound, gradual process for us, using the good sleeper book for a base.

Started off with daytime naps upstairs in the cot, made sure the routine was feed at waking so no feeding to sleep (wind interrupts too many babies). Cuddle and soothe to sleep in your arms in a darkened room, then put down while just awake. If they wake and start a little bit, try and soothe them with patting, stroking. If they start crying, pick up and cuddle and try again. If it doesn't happen that time, then just move on and do your usual sleep routine, but hopefully without the feed. Getting sleep is the number 1 priority, not the routine, so if he's upset stop it, but try again at your next one.

The only one with a feed directly before is the bedtime one, but we feed twice on that cycle- we try bedtime at 8.30ish, so wake at about 6.45-7, bottle, play, cuddle, nappy & pjs, feed & wind (downstairs), then upstairs for a cuddle & cot. During the day she'll fall asleep like a trooper, not so much nighttime but we're getting there.

All of this is very much ideas and ideals at the minute! We're in leap 4, so last night fought naps and sleep, had a very uncomfy night with her in and out of my arms, shaking her head, writhing and whinging. But she is slowly getting there

KnobJockey · 03/01/2020 08:17

Anyone else's baby found that shaking their head is fun? Indies favourite thing at the minute is just shaking her head while laying down, she finds it very funny.

DustyDoorframes · 03/01/2020 09:02

@KnobJockey DC2 did that!! She's a real clown to this day (age 3)
@Horehound errr we don't really bother... I feed to sleep and put her in her sidecar cot. Sometimes she sleeps in it all night, sometimes half the night, sometimes she's having none of it and is in our bed all night. I did the same with DC2, and eventually she slept the whole night in her cot (until DC3 was nearly here... she now creeps into our bed at some point, but that is happening less and less now)

Megan2018 · 03/01/2020 09:10

@Horehound
I stopped trying and just bedshare. I get much more sleep that way! Felicity is hysterical in the bedside crib, I can only put her in it when I go to loo etc, and even then she often cries if it's more than 15 seconds.
I suspect she’ll be in my bed forever Shock Grin but I don’t mind actually. I just miss my duvet!

Oh and am not keen on Felicity’s new trick which is to kick me in the ribs to wake me up instead of using noise! She’s bloody strong.

KnobJockey · 03/01/2020 10:19

I wasn't bothered about her going in either, but felt she needed it as too disturbed by us. Now we've had it I want more 😂 completely dark bedroom, duvet and can move my arms during the night! Leap 4 sucks so far, ruining it!

db92 · 03/01/2020 12:17

We try and make sure he's already half asleep before we put him in his cot. If we try putting him in there awake he just lays and smiles/ kicks around like crazy.

Talking about rolling babies, is everyone's rolling now? We're not quite there yet. He'll roll front to back on his changing mat or my bed but refuses as soon as you put him in the floor? He's also making no attempts to roll from front to back at all.

Stroan · 03/01/2020 13:32

All these gorgeous babies we all made!

DS is probably around 17-18lbs now, I think he is 20 weeks now. Lost count a bit over Christmas! He's in 6-9 month tops and filling them. He has wee short legs though so I'm still getting a bit of use out of 3-6 trousers. He's probably too big for the carrycot now and would love sitting up a bit but I am so nostalgic about it. Going to try to get another week of lovely walks with the carrycot and then switch to the seat.

Cots - not even attempted it. He still falls asleep on me downstairs and I take him to bed when I go. He settles himself really easily in the co sleeper so I'm reluctant to change. However, I do think we need to start working on an earlier bedtime for him. I think we are disturbing his best chunk of sleep. DD slept in a cot next to our bed until she was 2 (with a lot of co-sleeping too), so we'll probably do similar.

My approach to parenting this time is definitely being influenced by knowing he's my last baby, last time I was always desperate for the next step and this time I'm putting it all off! I've got my head in the sand about weaning in 6 weeks.

He can roll from front to back and is very close to back to front, but really doesn't seem too bothered! His sister was always desperate to get somewhere or do something but he's such a chilled out little man and is quite happy as long as he can see someone.

Happy New Year everyone!

Horehound · 03/01/2020 14:23

Thanks all. Yes I have him in bed and when he wakes he's usually kicking me in the back so I know how you feel @Megan2018!
I think we are just all over the place with bedtimes and we have no consistency..it's different every night so should probably start with that.

@db92 Arthur rolls from back to front but struggles going front to back

@stroan happy new year!! Yep, we need to work on earlier bed time too but I don't want to go up to bed at like 7pm!

THAT90sBITCH · 03/01/2020 14:34

We are not fully rolling yet just half way

Def know what you mean about dragging things out for last baby stroan! I will be sad to put the carrycot away but he is squashed in there
