Couldnt see a post natal group so have taken it upon myself to start one! Will obviously still keep up on antenatal also until babies have all arrived!

Shall we start a list of arrivals?

How is everyone dressing in this weather?? We're on a vest and a sleep suit with a thin blanket over night. Not used to having a hot weather born!

I'm using babyfeed timer, I did pay for it. It's got a timer for breastfeeding and what side you've used too which is originally why I went for that one over others, obviously didn't last long with the breastfeeding though.

@boodles101 it must be really soothing for them being together, will you keep them in together until they are big enough to need a cot each?

Welcome @Senners and @itakephotos I'm in Scotland so no heat wave here. I used the sleeping bag for first time last night after obsessively checking she wouldn't get her head through the hole several times, so best, sleepsuit and sleeping bag. Through the day it's outfit or suit with cardi and a blanket over her if we are out.

@GarlicChickenKiev it's the baby box wrap I've got, not tried it yet but I used a stretchy wrap with dc2 from newborn with no issues. They are a bit more suited to newborns than some of the more structured carriers. I had a baby hawk Mei tai and woven wraps for when she was bigger so may invest again once this baby is bigger.

@garlicchickenkiev I think the min weight is 7lbs? If you have a local sling library they might be able to advise ways to wrap it for a teeny baby. Really need to try my baby box wrap but find my caboo so easy so have used that so far.

I was alone in public with both children today while DH did a 10k. I lost DD. Not a great start.

Exactly how I'm dressing my one for sleep @itakephotos. I tend to swaddle with the blanket though. I think she prefers to be warm since she fusses if not covered up enough. I do worry that she's going to over-heat all the time though. 😔 I'd love to be using the sleep bags. But all the ones I have state a weight minimum of 4kg and we're nowhere near that yet. Maybe I'll just see if she can't get her head through.

easterbuns yes that's the plan, unless they start to wake each other up then I'll separate them sooner.

@boodles101 sounds like they are in an amazing routine already and that you are absolutely smashing it! It's v cute to imagine them snuggled up with each other.

@Stroan that must have been terrifying for you! Did it take you long to find her?

My DD has been having the most awful tantrums so I haven't braved it in public with both of them by myself yet. It will be happening this week though. Despite DD being potty trained for the best part of 8 months she has also started pooing in her nappy overnight. Any ideas/advice on how to conquer this? I assume it's in protest of baby happy!

@happydays00 just a few minutes and she didn't know she was lost. There were free bouncy castles at DHs race, she'd come off one and was patiently waiting in the queue for the next one. I lost sight of her getting off because it was busy and I had to try to squeeze the pram through the crowds to get to her, by which time she had found the next queue!

Happy i think i would try and ignore it for now. If she doesnt get any additional attention for it then she may decide against it.

Stroan there is nothing worse than those seconds when you cannot see the dc! I lost dc4 a few months back at the school fair. Turns out he decided to go work on the tombola stand ...

She’s 7 pounds, 8 ozs!

IVEgottheDECAF · 16/09/2019 23:08

Does she have a name?

Baby keeps pulling his legs out of the sleepsuit legs and getting stuck all bunched up. Hes getting very cross. I might have to try and get some of those ones that dont have seperate legs, what are they called? Or maybe i could put socks over the sleepsuit?

Congrats all in new arrivals they are coming thick and fast now x
Yesterday was a bit of a let down and I was really disappointed with the hospital.
We were taken to a side room on a ward so OH could stay which was greaT.
We got there for about 12 am. We were told ruby would have obs every 4 hours and could hopefully go home in the morning.
They did her obs every 4 hours till 12pm. We were told in the morning we needed the baby check and could go. We were chasing all day as we were running out of things and got down to our last bottle of milk. Baby check didn't happen till 4pm by which point I'd been in tears because I couldn't cope with the stress felt like prison. The baby doctor was very young and couldn't find a pulse in baby's leg we were told the registrar would come through but she also said I think you need to stay in another night due to oxygen levels yesterday. At which point I kicked off and said we r going home she is fine and we haven't had any further monitoring since 12pm! The registrar finally arrived at 6.30pm and we were told all was ok and we could go. After such a lovely birth experience yesterday spoilt it a bit, we didn't get home while after 8pm so couldn't really get ourselves ready and into a routine.
I'm also in agony aching everywhere TMI but my bum is killing so much pressure feels like I've broken something !, when her head crowned felt like a bowling bowl hurt more there than where she came out of !!
I've also been given injections for risk of blood clots due to age, has anyone else had these ? My OH has a fear of needles so not sure how we are going to get round it I may have to see if there is an alternative I can have
Sorry for long post but needed a bit of a rant !

@Dipsy77 I was on blood thinning injections for 6 weeks after my first. In all honesty it was easiest to do it myself and hurt a lot less that way. Have you tried that?

I'm sorry you had a difficult discharge experience. Glad you're home now.

I also had to have blood thinner injections for a week post birth. I found it much easier to do them myself (DH has needlephobia). I found it easiest/less painful to inject abdominally. But I have quite the jelly belly going on, so getting a good pinch of sub-cutaneous fat is far easier there than on my thigh.

Thanks I'll give that a try xx

@Dipsy77 sorry you feel like your discharge has tainted your experience. Try not to let it, just look forward to being home with your LO and getting yourself settled now.

I was on blood thinners for my whole pregnancy with my DD and for 6 weeks with my DS. I did them myself, they do get easier. I would do in the evening after a bath, grab a good pinch of skin and go for it. Did the hospital show you how to do it yourself?

@happydays00 I've just asked the midwife that came out and she showed me. Yesterday the midwife said it had to be done before bed time but the midwife earlier said as long as it's the same time everyday then anytime I feel comfortable with is fine so I'll probs try on my own early evening thanks for the advice Smile

@Dipsy77 I think they say before bedtime as the risk of DVT goes up at night. I'm sure evening is fine too though.
I also used belly fat. You'll be a pro in no time!
