Couldnt see a post natal group so have taken it upon myself to start one! Will obviously still keep up on antenatal also until babies have all arrived!

Shall we start a list of arrivals?

@Stroan how old is he, I've lost track? Your supply should settle to match his demand shortly, hopefully??? Stuffing whole muslins down your bra can help- gives wiser coverage than a breast pad...
We've never used dummies, I'm happy to be used as a dummy so it hasn't really come up. Except when we were in hospital the other week and I couldn't feed her, I embraced the dummy then!! It felt very cruel not giving her anything to suck! So if we bottle fed I'd be all over dummies, I think.

Wider, I mean, not wiser...

Trick with calpol is squirt on the inside of their cheek

Yes I learnt this trick, especially with a screaming baby! Or in DH case completely miss LO’s mouth and spray Calpol all over the sofa 😂

Probably a odd question to ask, has anyone suffered a prolapse from birth? I'm 14 weeks pp and STILL in agony 😔 it was a forceps delivery and I've been left unable to walk for a long periods of time, I cannot carry my baby as the weight puts pressure down below. I'm so depressed that it's been over 3 months and I'm still suffering. GP was useless- just told me it was a prolapse and to do pelvic floor excerises. I'm so so upset daily, I just want to enjoy my time with my firstborn and not worry about wether I can take him out for walks in the pram incase I end up in pain

Oh @PhoebeBear that sounds awful for you. I think I would give the midwife team a call, I know you've been signed off from them but I would imagine they'd be the best placed to signpost you to where you need to be. You can then just be very insistent that the dr refers you there. Sorry but persistence is key I think - hope you get it sorted, not nice to be having the impact it is x

phoebe that sounds awful, i have had 5 vaginal births and never anything like that Flowers

@dustydoorframes he's 13 weeks. I read it can take a few weeks for the supply to settle down with changes like this, tried the muslin trick last night and it was much better! Our mattress was a pre-children, very expensive purchase and I really don't want to soak it with milk - I love it nearly as much as my children.

@pheobebear I agree with Kyle's, I think you have to very persistent. It's more common than you would think because it's not talked about enough, I know someone who had to go private to get help. It's a disgrace that women are expected to just put up with birth related injuries.

DustyDoorframes · 20/11/2019 09:18

@PhoebeBear that's horrific, especially the GP's reaction!!!!!
The Squeezy website has a directory of pelvic physios by area, both NHS and private, which could be worth looking at. But surely you need a referral to gynae??? Asking the MW sounds like an excellent idea.
@Stroan we have a mattress like that! Nappy Lady sells double bed size leak-proof mattress protectors, which I have invested in, given that DC2 has started coming in to our bed at night, and has been wetting hers, but also with milk and baby posset in mind...

8 week baby check and vax today! Milestones!

Arthur is 13 weeks now and his first is rarely out of his mouth...is this normal?! He can almost get the whole thing inConfused

@Horehound we're 10 weeks here and exactly the same! At first I thought it was hunger but it seems he just enjoys sucking his fists?

Report
Horehound · 21/11/2019 18:49

@db92 yeh he's done it for a couple weeks building up to getting more and more into his mouth! I also thought it was hunger but he does it straight after feeds too.
I remember my cousin saying her baby did it and out her whole first in her mouth making her wretch! Arthur is sick enough so hope he doesn't do that lol.

Is anyone else writing a journal? I've got a wee box to out little mementos in like a line cone from his first walk. And in writing a diary, not religiously but whenever I get 10 mins free to. I think it will be nice to look back on and read in years to come :)

DS wakes me up sucking on his fist! He never cries at night, the sloppy fist is my alarm. He's also getting the hang of sucking just his thumb and prefers it to a dummy, but can't get his hand to his mouth in the car seat so needs the dummy then.

He has yet another cold and is really struggling to feed. My boobs are sore and I've defrosted milk so he can have a bottle later. Hopefully he is happy taking one.

Yay for milestones @DustyDoorframes hope both went well and she coped with the vax

@Horehound apparently it's a really common thing as they discover both hands and mouth at the same time. William stopped for a while but is back trying to get the whole thing in with a vengeance. The diary idea is lovely. I have one of those baby books but sill haven't gotten around to writing in it 😬 definitely will try this weekend though. I can't believe where 12 weeks have gone. The thought of going back to work makes me so sad... not that I'm going back until July!

@kyles101 I know! I'm already thinking that's 3 months maternity gone ..that went bloody fast.
I want to get pregnant again and time it so I don't have to go back to work for another year on top of that haha. Not sure I'd cope though!

@Horehound I had a little chuckle to myself the other da trying to picture my bosses face if I told him on my first day back I was pregnant again 😂 I think I would prefer a slightly bigger gal though... even if I am getting on a bit!!

Gap! Not bigger gal! Typing whilst bf fail!!

I would too but honestly I also feel I am old (33) and I can feel the effect on myself. My knees are creaking ffs. So if I wait I'd be older than 35 and the thought makes me worried!
My mum said to me a few days ago oh you'll have another in 4 or 5 years. My eyes popped out my head. I said no way am I having one at 38 bloody hell I'm almost done in now!

My boss would hate me I think considering I only started there in Feb this year. If I did though I'd be able to claim full maternity package which is pretty decent

Stupid question but not sure where else to post for help. I had my baby August the 10th hes 3 month now. I'm still suffering with pain from a prolapse I suffered as the birth was forceps delivery and I was pushing for 2 hours . I'm struggling to lift baby now as he's growing bigger each day and walks out are difficult too as I can't go for long without needing to feel like I have to sit down. I'm 26 and this is my first child, I feel embarrassed this has happened to me ! I just want to enjoy my time without being in this constant pain 😣 he was also a big baby 8 pound 12 ! It's put me off having more in the future although I'd love to. Does anyone have any examples of this happening to themselves or advice? GP checked me out said it was a prolapse and do pelvic floor excerises- but that's it 😭

@Horehound snap, I'm 33 too - knees are alright here, it's the back that appears to be going 😂

@PhoebeBear did you see the other replies from people below? Maybe try posting on the childbirth page for a wider audience?

Im 31 but have already done this five times ..... my back and pelvis are ruined. I have no stomach muscles.

For those considering a small gap i had 16m between dc1+2 and it was fine!

My sister-in-laws 2 have put me off - 18 months and they're terrible. The older one basically just blanked the younger for the first 2 years, now the younger one has a serious biting issue - if it moves he'll bite it, he needs a muzzle! My SIL is a fantastic mum though, so eternally patent so I don't think she could have done anything different. Luck of the draw perhaps 🤷‍♀️

Aww. My first was as good as gold. Text book baby. Slept through by 3 months, did everything when he should have done etc. Second was a needy needy baby! That was the hard bit. But once he could do a bit more he was better. They are 10 and 11 now and flip between best mates and worst enemies but it is my favourite age gap! I do think the two close together is probably what fucked my pelvis though

There's 18m between my brother and I and we didn't get on at all! We're always fighting although I do remember some nice moments. But we are very close now.
