I may change my name
'fartminger' or some such

faylisa · 19/08/2007 21:44

Daisy - just read about your DD's weepy eye in an earlier post - Are you breast-feeding? - My DS had the same and I was recommended to try putting a few drops of my breast-milk in his eye - sounds weird (and felt even stranger as I was leaning over trying to aim a few drops in ) but I did it a couple of times and his eye completely cleared up the next day - might be worth a try....

daisyandbabybootoo · 19/08/2007 21:54

LOL at organic TA...

Faylisa, i tried that when she was tiny...all it did was turn the goop orange...does that stuff make everything go orange FFS????

I asked the HV about it and she said it wasn't advisable as the sugars in BM can cause yeast growth and fungal infections in the eye....although lots of people have said that to me as well.

There's no infection as such...her eye just gets weepy and sticky as the tear duct keeps blocking. I think I will take her to the docs though as i would have thought it would have sorted itself out by now if it was going to.

just had a squinty at that thread...it has to be a wind up, a very funny one though!

G'night all!

riabutterflew · 19/08/2007 23:40

sorry, short post!

riabutterflew · 19/08/2007 23:47

daisy, my HV recommended gently massaging under the eye for blocked tear ducts. Have no idea if it works or not as DS had an infection that took 2 loads of ABs to clear.

Have not been on facebook tonight and dare not. DH - in his new found role as stay-at-home dad - has decided I do not put the boys to bed early enough. (If he was at work lovingly stroking his stainless steel work surfaces like he has been for 98% of bedtimes for the last 10 1/2 years he would not have noticed.) SO as he was in a grump I took the boys to bed at 7.20pm, this resulted in DS2 going to sleep straight away, then power-napping til 8.15 and being up until 10.30. During which time DH sits on the sofa being a git. Bollocks. How many more weeks til I go back to being a work-widow who can do what the feck she likes? Shame my hunky neighbour has split with his girlfriend and moved out (being rapidly replaced I might add - oh to have that hold over men!), could have had a dalliance... Will stick to wine and chocolate.
Night all. Rx

trendaverter · 20/08/2007 06:35

morning all!

Daisy, what on earth are you eating?!

daisyandbabybootoo · 20/08/2007 09:20

Shit....my DS is a fucking monster.

I was filling out a form earlier and he was sitting on the floor nexr to DD in her chair, watching TV. I heard him say "sorry Emily" so I looked up. He had a hold of her face (thumb in one cheek, finger in the other) and was squeezing hard with what I can only describe as a look of glee on his face. She started screaming at that point

I sent him to the step, and he went off in a strop slamming the door at the injustice of it. He dpoesn't even realise what he did was wrong and angry isn't the word for what I'm feeling now. I phoned DH to come and get him so he is being dragged around the shops as punishment (and DH gets elevated to martyr status as he is a horror when shopping).

He said sorry and tried to cuddle her but she took one look at him and burst into tears again. I'm now thinking of all the times I've been out the room and she's started crying...was it him making her cry??

Awww daisy! It's so difficult isn't it? You want to make sure your pfb is not left out and to see that you still love them, but it's v hard when they are being little shits! My dd spends a good portion of her life sat on the stairs!

I think all children try and hurt their little siblings, I remember pinching my brother when he was tiny!

daisyandbabybootoo · 20/08/2007 09:35

It was the look on his face though holly...like he was enjoying it

....I feel like it'll only be a matter of time before he's dismembering small animals.

bumperlicious · 20/08/2007 09:36

Ah daisy, poor Em, bless her. I wouldn't worry though, I don't expect she is the first sibling to be got at by her older bro'! I don't know what to suggest about DS though

Just FYI, aldi nappies are great. First one did a sterling effort of containing dd's poo and copious amounts of wee this morning. I didn't realise she had even pooed , no wonder she has been unsettled since 4am (bang goes my hope that she is finally sleeping through till 7!). So thumbs up for the nappies but remember to check your baby (though you are probably not neglectful mummies like me!)

daisyandbabybootoo · 20/08/2007 09:43

DD slept in a good old fashioned terry last night and although it was sodden this morning...there was only a wee leak at her leg, but that was more to do with the elastic in the wrap not being great. I'm thinking I may stick with terry squares...cheap, cheerful and quick to dry...and not as bulky looking as some of her shaped nappies!

I've hads this horrible pain in my right boob since yesterday, sort of towards my armpit, where boob fizzles out and you can feel your ribs, iyswim (approx at t-shirt seam). Not sore constantly, but throbbing intermittently. No obvious signs of blocked ducy (and it feels different anyway) or other thrush symptoms so don't know if its that either. Any ideas?

OP posts:
daisyandbabybootoo · 20/08/2007 09:44

oops, duct, not ducy!!

loonylovegood · 20/08/2007 10:10

I have some terries daisy, haven't used them yet coz the wraps are loose round ds's little skinny chicken legs! Are you using pins or nippas?

Don't know about the boob pain daisy, sorry. It might just be one of those things.

daisyandbabybootoo · 20/08/2007 10:13

nippas...they are fab!

OP posts:
faylisa · 20/08/2007 10:14

Daisy - sounds to me like it could be onset of mastitis. You could try massaging the area and, if possible, have a really hot bath, or at least soak your boob in some hot water.

If you start feeling fluey as well then go to docs asap because you'll probably need antibiotics. It can come on really quickly and is agony as well as making you feel terrible - so if you can unblock the dcut and avoid getting it then do so!

Hope it gets better soon.

loonylovegood · 20/08/2007 10:14

I'm gonna try the wraps again when ds wakes up! You have inspired me daisy!

loonylovegood · 20/08/2007 10:15

Have your crocs come yet faylisa?

faylisa · 20/08/2007 10:26

no crocs yet - boooooo

loonylovegood · 20/08/2007 10:29

I bet they come today, mine only took 2 days. WHat colour did you get?

faylisa · 20/08/2007 10:32

i hope so - i went for boring black but if i love them then i might get a more adventurous colour as well.

Dontknowmyarsefrommyelbow · 20/08/2007 10:35

Mornin!

I got mastitis a few weeks ago - felt like shit but by the time I got to the doc's it was passing so didn't need the antibiotics in the end. As sson as I realised I had it I got in the bath and brushed the red bit with a nail brush towards my nipple!!

Am I being a loon if I book a ski holiday for feb 08 and thak the little fella with us? I'm gonna post it as a question on facebook!!

foxybrown · 20/08/2007 11:14

Morning! How is everyone today?

I am jumping around for joy today. I got a whole 6 hours sleep - all is good with the World today!!!

sputnik · 20/08/2007 11:20

Nice photos DKMA

I did the e-diets too, a couple of years ago and lost 5 or 6 kgs, so can recommend it too Faylisa. The main motivation it gave me was the simple fact of having paid good money to sign up, the weekly weigh-in and watching the little graph go down. The meal planning and shopping list was less use to me as I like to decide a day by day what I feel like eating, but they had some good recipes that i still use. You can also do a points type thing where veg is "free" - I quite like that idea as I'm fond of huge salads.

I had a good long exercise session today, hopefully this week I can get back in the groove, as last week was a write off.
