trendaverter · 19/08/2007 18:06

I'm meeting up with Bumper in Swindon
We are going to indulge in coffee, lunch and shopping. I think Bumper extended the invite to all a couple of days ago if anyone else was up for it?

Charlie999 · 19/08/2007 18:11

Hello everyone

I've been to my nephews christening today - it pissed down with rain! DD winged through the service cos she was hungry but screamed even more when she was offered milk at room temperature ...lots of children there so she wasn't the only noisy one!

Pics are lovely Daisy - got one of her smiling now then

justbeme · 19/08/2007 18:20

Hope you both have a good day 2mrow TA and Bumper.

Love the photos Daisy!!

I had my DD1 christened, but not sure what to do about DD2 - my Dp is an atheist!! What is everyone else doing? (TA can send us some virtual cake from her naming day!!)

daisyandbabybootoo · 19/08/2007 18:45

Cheers....Yup Charlie I finally caught one....but it took about 30 snaps to get it. I've got some better ones with my new phone...the shutter speed of that is much quicker than my digital camera.

I bought some terry squares yesterday as a cheap stand-by for when all my shaped etc nappies are dirty so have been practising folding themm all afternoon.....god how sad and empty my little life is!

I'd like to have DD christened, but I never had DS done (my local church took a dim view of me as a single parent ). DH not bothered though. We had a bit of a baby head wetting combined with DHs birthday so that will probably do us.

hi all. I went to the church fayre yesterday to get introduced to the new minister (the retiring one is my BFs Dad, so when we had ds2 christened I didn't have to do any obvious church-going like I did with ds1). My dh is an agnostic/aetheist and INSISTED we had the boys christened so they can make their mind up when they are older. DS1 is probably more churchy than us! I would have liked my friends dad to do ds3 really, but can't cope with it while dh "ill" and also my sister might be coming over at xmas (haven't seen her since 2000 as she lives in nz) so we are waiting til then.

sorry long post. been a long day, need some mindless chat.

sorry you are low daisy. hope the chocolate helps.

Charlie999 · 19/08/2007 19:07

I'm not allowed to get DD christened .

We didn't get married in church and have no religous belief (well, I have some I spose but not any that require me to go to church etc - just my own thoughts and feelings IYKWIM)

Have to say - wasn't the most exciting way to spend an afternoon - although the get together was nice afterwards...always the way

Charlie999 · 19/08/2007 19:08

and DH was miffed he missed the footie - friend was texting live updates to us whilst in church

Charlie999 · 19/08/2007 19:09

...and is watching the taped game as we speak....as is DD

trendaverter · 19/08/2007 19:15

DS isn't being christened. Mum probably thinks I will go to hell as a result of my oh so atheist decision. Oh well.

Still, he is having his 'naming do' on sunday where we will all get pissed and wet the baby's head instead!

foxybrown · 19/08/2007 19:36

Thats what we do TA! Get friends and family together (usually the first Sunday after Wimbledon - put it in your diaries for next year!) and drink and eat. Its always been a hot, sunny day. We'll have a party every year on that day regardless now, although next year will by Eve's special day.

We do name 'special aunties' and 'special uncles' (for want of a better term) as opposed to Godparents. Basically we choose people important to us who we want to be important to our children. We give them a small gift as a keepsake (traditionally a small silver Tiffany key ring).

trendaverter · 19/08/2007 19:40

aww the keepsake idea is lovely
I am too stupid & forgetful to think of things like that. Plus my 'Special Aunt' of choice (my little sister) lives in the US. Can't choose my older sister as she is a deranged psychopath.

DS has been screaming/grizzling all day! No idea why! Poor sod NOTHING settles him, I don't think he is very well - Bumper if you are out there if he is still like this tomorrow we may have to reschedule

Charlie999 · 19/08/2007 19:53

Oh Foxy - that's a lovely idea....

foxybrown · 19/08/2007 19:55

Some of them are in Australia and Russia, but they do keep in touch and never forget the children.

I'm not inclined to get family involved -I tried but either sister got upset. Its not like there's not enough kids to go round! They'd all get a farking turn!

foxybrown · 19/08/2007 20:10

TA - you could try those teething powders. I've always rated them.

My lo has been sleeping all day. In fact, she did a 9 hour stint last night. Shame two of the others kept me up from 3 - 5 am! The perils of a large family!

Charlie, LOL at your DH getting the footy texts in church! Sounds like mine!

Ria - stop bloody well apologising for the long posts!

trendaverter · 19/08/2007 20:18

Yeah pretty sure it's teething after reading about it. Will go to boots tomorrow and buy some stuff for him.

daisyandbabybootoo · 19/08/2007 20:25

hear hear foxy....Ria your posts are miniscule little things compared to some of mine, LOL.

TA I hope DS is better tomorrow so you can meet up with bumper. he may be starting to teethe as they can feel it long before the tooth is due to erupt. My DD is certainly doing lots of drooling. I second foxy on the teething granules. Boots do thir own version of Nelson's teetha which is a bit cheaper, but the same ingredient (calendula IIRC). They used to calm DS right down and he liked gritting them between his gums! that and chewing on some jingle bells from the ELC.

Poor DD has had a hair caught in her eye and was crying and grizzling for over an hour before we realised what the problem was. I think I've managed to wash it out but her eye looks red and sore. She's had problems with a blocked tear duct in that eye since she was born so it's always a bit weepy so we didn't think to check it. DH just caught sight if the hair when she was looking out the window.

hi daisy - how are things?

daisyandbabybootoo · 19/08/2007 20:37

Allright foxy. i was feeling really glum earlier with uncontrollable DS, but feeling a bit better now I've had some wine and chocolate (the diet starts again tomorrow )

How's you? You'll be glad when school starts again, or is it more hassle with the trail to nursery mid morning in the mix as well?

OP posts:
foxybrown · 19/08/2007 20:42

... there is a particularly interesting thread distracting me at the mo ... the one "DH obsession ..." in active convos

foxybrown · 19/08/2007 20:43

ooo, no more mid-day school run for me thanks daisy! both boys full-time. Yay!!!

only DD 2 days a week for mid-morning pick up. i'll almost have a life!

trendaverter · 19/08/2007 20:51

Not had much of a good day Daisy really have you ?
Let's face it, if you are practice folding nappies you may have hit a low

If he is def teething (and I think he is) then I will definately go out tomorrow, not going to be a social recluse for the sake of a few teeth! I might get a few funny looks from people when he starts screaming though

I would only stay in if he was actually ill.

trendaverter · 19/08/2007 20:51

DH obsession...hmm... I just did such a powerful fart my dh left the room.

foxybrown · 19/08/2007 20:52

PMSL TA!

trendaverter · 19/08/2007 20:54

I am logging off. Have a lovely evening all!
