Phoenix · 07/08/2007 21:07

where is everyone?

I'm quite proud of myself. I've got wine in my fridge and i've been strong and not had any alcohol for 3 nights I always have a drink (or 5)

Phoenix · 07/08/2007 21:09

Oh hello csws. I started writing that post then my mum rang before i got chance to post it In answer to your question i don't know

CantSleepWontSleep · 07/08/2007 21:11

Well done Phoenix.
I'm here at the moment, still listening to a screaming dd.

Jas · 07/08/2007 21:13

csws. Maybe in an unusual room, yes.

Good for you Phoenix.

I'm just checking in before bed. I've had a busy day and am in need of an early night.

CantSleepWontSleep · 07/08/2007 21:22

She's always been fine in this room before. Wondering if it's because she spent the night without me (in same travel cot) for the first time on Saturday, but she slept fine at home on Sunday night. Just went up and gave her a cuddle, and she was perfectly happy and sleepy on my shoulder, but the second I move to put her back in her cot she tries to cling to me with her legs, and starts screaming hysterically when I do put her down. It's horrible. She kept this up for nearly 2.5hrs during last night, and only stopped then because I took her to bed. I'm going to end up too tired to do any of our planned day trips at this rate.

Frizbe · 07/08/2007 21:40

CSWS that dd is playing up, it could easily be the seperation thing, dd2 is teething here today again, 3 molars fully broken through now, could it be that too? hope you get some sleep sometime soon.....not been to west mids safari, nearly went last summer, but it lagged it down the day we were supposed to go, have heard from SIL that its very good! Re warwick castle, MRM has made it sound wonderful! again I've only seen the entrance, then dh took me to cafe nero to grab some lunch! and we continued on our way home from Christchurch, so? but have heard its good

Flame, see you've already been helped out on that thread loads, so I have no need to add my four penneth

Phoenix, well done for avoiding the booze

Macca, oxford st, you nutter! (but then I generally avoid London)

Jas, yay for dh

Chloe, are you sure your not preggers though

Hi MRM, Kel, Dame and anyone else passing!

Today dd2 and I went to a park, which was mainly a golf course! but it had a few hens, ducks and silky chickens (furry balls with legs) oh and rabbitts, dd2 played with her friends and a football on some nicely cut grass and we had a picnic,if she were a boy, I'd be impressed with her ball skills, as it is, I just think, why do I appear to have two dd's who can kick/dribble a ball decently

mustrunmore · 07/08/2007 22:25

Eek, what if I've made it sound too good and you go and its shit?!

Frizbe, I was going to say exactly the same; ds2 has been unusually clingy, then crying when put in the cot. Tonight I noticed a new bit of tooth poking through. I reckon he's got teething and a tummy thing /vomiting going on toghther.

Er, I'm such a bad mother. Ds1 is still a mare to put to bed, so tonight we only got home at 10pm And he still only wanted to go to sleep in our bed.

i'm thinknig about working part time once autumn term starts Sounds too good to be true, but a friend reckons their place of work could accomodate me working around dh's crappy rota. If its true, it'd be great! I could work 3 weekends out of 4, and we could dig ourselves out of the pit we're building!

KelBelle · 07/08/2007 23:33

2boys - there are offers for the aquarium here www.nationalrail.co.uk/
Buy 1 get 1 free adult ticket!!

Had a nice time today but a HUGE ugly dead looking fish swam towards DS and he screamed!!! he liked the Nemo fish and the smaller ones but the large ones and the sharks he was not keen on!!

My neighbour has been in to put my kitchen back together tonight after boiler was fitted yesterday. He is going to move the boiler over a bit though so the cupboards go back ok. The man yesterday wouldnt do it as he would have to re-route my hot and cold water pipes but my lovely neighbour will do it for me.

I have a cupboard space where the freezer used to live that I need to do something with. Havent got a door to fit so can either get another door which wont match and make a cupboard or could make some kind of shelving storage area. Was thinking of one of those kitchen trolleys but not sure really - any ideas? It is a standard cupboard space!!

Jas · 08/08/2007 07:05

csws. I hope she settled and you don't have this the whole time you are away.

for maybe job mrm. What work is it?

Kel - your neighbour sounds great Where is the freezer now? No idea what todo with the space, but B&Q were selling end of line wooden doors at 50p each yesterday!(probably all gone now, so not worth a special trip I guess.)

DDs are back today. I spoke to them yesterday. DD2 is missing me, wants a cuddle and was almost in tears. DD1 is having a great time and not thinking about us at all!

mustrunmore · 08/08/2007 07:51

We used to have one of those trolleys, and didnt really use it TBH, so it was just wasting space. How about getting a bit of owwd and making a wine rack that fills the space? Then do what Tabs does, and put toys in all the compartments! We hav aspace wher ethe last people had a dishwasher, and all we do with it is keep shoes there in a plastic box

Jas, its nothing stimulating or exciting; only John Lewis as till staff. But it'd be money and adult conversation, and a 12.5%discount offf there and Waitrose

Jas · 08/08/2007 08:01

Money, adult conversation, and a staff discount are exciting

Jas · 08/08/2007 08:01

Frizbe · 08/08/2007 09:26

MRM go for it so long as you don't loose too much money to child care, which is always the bother staff discount on waitrose is always good though, and john lewis do the staff bonus share thing too so good co to work for

Jas 50p for a door bargin!

Kel, glad aquarium was good

CSWS hope you got some sleep?

Swimming here today, reckon that's it? what about you girls?

mustrunmore · 08/08/2007 09:49

Are you mad Frizbe? I'm not paying for childcare! I'd end up paying morethan I'd be earning. tHats why I've newver bee nable to get a job since the boys, because dh works++++++30 .days night s and weekends on a monthly rota. But said friend reckons JL can actually work around this with no 0p0robs, and he's bee nthere years. And might end up being my supervisor

Phoenix · 08/08/2007 12:08

One of my friends used to work just to pay for her kids child care. If that was the case i think i'd much rather stay home and look after them myself.

mustrunmore · 08/08/2007 13:29

Exactly phoenix

Chloe55 · 08/08/2007 15:19

I am only about £30 a week up, working 12 hours through having to pay childcare - it sucks but then we need that extra £30 a week. It's really frustrating. DH would hate it if I stayed at home - he reckons I should work more hours than I do as it is, I'm sure he thinks I sit on my arse. I really do admire people who work full time, get the kids ready in the morning and at night and get housework done!!! I would be dead on my feet!

mustrunmore · 08/08/2007 15:26

I dont think I'd get even that much, when you take into account about an hours travel each way, which would also obv have to be paid for re childcare. The onlt thing is, if dh gets offered last minute o/t, which happens alot, he'd have to turn it down as I couldnt just not go to work, but he'd be earning £25 per hour

Frizbe · 08/08/2007 16:36

Hmmm yes I am slightly bonkers its difficult this trying to work around the kids thing isn't it.... MRM sounds like JL could be the right place for you though if they can work around your dh's shifts hope it works out! Chloe for only being £30 a week up.

Tangent warning!
I reckon Gordon Brown should take a long hard look at sorting out better tax breaks for people with kids under school age/give us a bonus like spain and france do! rather than trying to get us mums all back into work, then wondering why all the kids are turning into yobs, with no one there to look after them etc....

alicet · 08/08/2007 18:37

Hello ladies - VERY late to be joining this thread! My ds was born in Feb 2006 - briefly posted on the antenatal thread then forgot all about it. Have rediscovered mumsnet again now I am pg with ds2! Hope you don't mind me crashing in - hello!

Frizbe · 08/08/2007 21:03

Hello!! your welcome to crash

CantSleepWontSleep · 08/08/2007 21:08

Hello Alicet - welcome (again!) .

mrm - sounds great re the job. I'll happily go shopping to Waitrose with you!

Friz - conservatives recently made some proposals (or at least a review panel recommended some proposals to them) that would be good for mothers who choose to stay at home. There was a thread on here about it, and loads of people were criticising them for it, and saying that they should be making it easier for everyone to work, not to stay at home, so it seems that politicians can't win whatever they do! I pretty much never go on politics threads, but I had to post on that one!

So dd slept in the end from 9:30pm to 6:25am without waking. A short night, but far far better than the one before. Tonight we got the same sort of reaction, but she gave in after 25 mins - phew!

She was knackered of course after her very busy day out at West Mids Safari Park. We did the safari part last and let her out of her seat to sit on mum's lap in the back. There was another car going round with 2 girls and 2 women in, and one of the girls was even sitting on the driver's lap, so we were quite good by comparison!!!

Think we're doing an open farm tomorrow morning, then visiting my old school friend in the afternoon.

Lots of rows about what's happening at the weekend. My brother is supposed to be coming up, but can't come on Friday night because he's chinchilla sitting (?!?!?!), and mum now doesn't think he should come up on Saturday because he'll get caught up with holiday traffic.

Jas - I was talking to you about him not getting dd a Christening present wasn't I? Apparently mum told him that normally only Godparents buy Christening presents, so it wasn't his fault (never is though) .

CantSleepWontSleep · 08/08/2007 22:32

Where is everyone tonight then?!

Jas - when do the girls come back home?
