Thought I'd start a thread to give somewhere for Jem, Washersaurus and Bresha to discuss their little ones and make all those of us waiting impatiently jealous!

Who will be next??????

james - it can be one of the signs - but i think some babies drool more than others. DD1 drooled from about 8 weeks and never stopped till about 14months when her front molars came through. she cut her first tooth at 5 months (and had 8 teeth by the time she was 8 months)

My2WooooooooooGhouls · 25/10/2007 13:22

hit post before i was finished typing. i'm laughing (in a nice way) at the post-it's

i somehow kept putting nappies on back to front - midwife after midwife would say who put that nappy on like that - ooops

mamamila · 25/10/2007 13:31

hey all,

nice to catch up with you TT and uki, but v sorry for your aunt.

mila slept 8.30pm till 8.30am, woke up for feed at 5am but i just b/f in bed and fall asleep immediately. hmm bit scared now i've written that as i know where boasting leads..

saturday we've invited dp's family for a picnic lunch at home, 30+ people including kids, should be fun..

mila's also chuckling and 'chatting' absolutely brilliant. she still only poos once every 4 days or so and it's always explosive. oh got to go do my sling shift. i'm not sure how long we can carry on with daytime sling sleeps, our backs and feet are suffering

conkertree · 25/10/2007 15:14

may well turn out that ds is just having a grumpy few days and i am trying to analyse it too much, but he's just so different from normal and seems so unhappy.

will try the granules that the hv suggested for a day or two.

on another topic - my period seems to have returned today. was expecting it not to come till i stopped exclusively breast feeding but obviously that was wishful thinking. oh well.

lol at the post its - bet that kept the midwife in stories for a day or two.

Annie75 · 25/10/2007 15:44

Ha, yes, I've succumbed to the telly too. It keeps her quiet for at least 10 mins, enough time for me to clean the whole house, shower and make tonight's dinner (okay, slight exaggeration, but amazing how much I can fit in now I don't have many quiet moments!). She was laughing at CBeebies this morning. I am a lazy mother...

Sorry to hear everyone's babies are suffering from colds/chest infections. Nell sounds a bit chesty but not sure whether to bother taking her to docs. Always fret about what they might catch in the waiting room! What do you think?

Annie75 · 25/10/2007 16:01

Hey Conker, what are the granules your HV has recommended? Nell's v windy, so anything that would help (infacol and gripe water pretty useless).

conkertree · 25/10/2007 16:21

she said they are called colisynth granules and should be able to get them from a pharmacist. might go and look them up - so far today he seems much calmer. not sure if he is lulling me into a false sense of security while shops are open and then all hell will break loose when they are closed and i havent been to buy any.

tokentotty · 25/10/2007 16:25

Honestly, I wouldn't bother going to the Drs unless she suddenly changes. we went yesterday and they recommend humidifying the room, saline nasal drops and keeping a regular temperature around them. As long as they're not fighting for breath and eating as normal they're not overly concerned.

Got my pressie too.....not allowed it 'til Xmas but its in the safe so if I can get it to take a pic I will . Was going to get a eternity ring with diamonds all round but ended up going for a five stone ring which was stunning and DH preferred. Seeing as he was buying I wasn't going to complain !!! Was well and truly spoilt

Hey, have finally started updating my pics so me and the Padster are now on there in full glorious technicolour !

Annie75 · 25/10/2007 16:37

Thanks, TT. Okay, I won't. She's asleep anyway and there's nothing worse than having to wake a sleeping baby...

Aw, a diamond ring! Now THAT is romantic. Good DH, I'll use him as an example.

Lovely pics of your little man - he's got gorgeous big eyes. You look well and contented too! It's mind-blowing being a parent, isn't it? Everyone tells you you'll never be prepared for the sleepless nights and how it'll change your life, and all that is true, but they forget to tell you how much you'll end up loving the little beans too.

JamesAndTheGiantBanana · 25/10/2007 16:37

conkertree, I'm expecting my period to start again anytime as I'm only doing two or three feeds a day now. I'm pretty sure it's on its way, I've been quite grumpy and emotional for two or three days. Dreading it since I haven't had one for a year. bah

On the other hand, I'm still having pregnant dreams, but it's probably just paranoia.

Hmm, there doesn't seem to be an "abject terror" emoticon.

tokentotty · 25/10/2007 16:44

Oooh periods....can't wait.

As for what you've said Annie, you're right. I've actually said to people that I'm finding it easier and better than I expected as people only ever seem to tell you horror stories and it's just not like that is it ? I know it's hard sometimes but it can simple take one hint of a smile and the tough bits are completely forgotten. Just popped another pic on of Paddy that I think is my fave....

Annie75 · 25/10/2007 16:50

That's such a sweet picture! He's looking so intent, too - obviously concentrating on you!

Blimey, periods. No, I've not had one either. That'll be a shock.

Might start expressing soon. Anyone recommend a pump for me? Wouldn't be regular expressing, just when I need to go out.

tokentotty · 25/10/2007 16:59

Hahahah have just come back on after knocking out a quick 4.5oz with my medela mini electric pump !! As Peanut's not putting on weight I decided to use my pump (first time yesterday) so I can actually see how much breastmilk he's getting. Have combined this with giving him 2/3 formula feeds per day to boost him. Have found pumping....WEIRD! I can now empathise totally with dairy cows !

conkertree · 25/10/2007 17:02

i have an avent one and seems to work fine for me. some days its easier to express than others.

the two i'd heard recommended from various people was that one and the medula one - dont know how different they are.

the ring sounds lovely. my dh bought me a white gold and diamond necklace when ds was born - its gorgeous. he got lots of brownie points for that.

Annie75 · 25/10/2007 17:07

Good luck with the expressing! I'm not much looking forward to it either, but do often wonder how much they get bf.

Blimey, diamonds all round then. I got a bunch of lilies from the local florist ...

tasha21 · 25/10/2007 17:47

hi. Periods?? havent had one in 2 yes 2 years!!! as soon as it comes it will be the pill and anything else going.
tokentotty- lucky you ill be having a word with my dp.
sorry about babies with coughs and colds lucky enough my lo hasnt but back on the poo subject, the carobel that they have got me putting into his milk has turned his poo bright yellow kinda like custard.
had a pretty relaxed day toda went to mums and had a cuppa while the kids ran wild my little bro is the same age as my eldest 3years so there was a few fights wont they ever learn to share

GillL · 25/10/2007 18:16

You're not planning any more for a while then tasha

So of your TT. I got nothing for having my baby. How do you manage to look so glamorous this early after having a baby????

Had to feed ds at the doctors this afternoon. Nothing else would calm him down after having his injections. He's been asleep ever since though, thankfully.

conkertree · 25/10/2007 18:52

oh well guess its just me with the periods then.

going to try baby massage before bathtime tonight to see if it helps with any wind problems that ds is having incase its that instead of teeth.

put a couple of pictures of ds onto my profile - its scary how quickly they've gone from newborns to bouncing babies.

tokentotty · 25/10/2007 20:58

Oh Conkertree - I really did laugh out loud when I checked out your new pics. I LOVE that one of Struan stirring the christmas cake, it really is gorgeous. Keep meaning to go round to my old aunt's and nick one of her recipes. Having said that, just remembered that I think I found one in my Mum's 'recipe folder'. Hope it's not as badly written up as some others. Is very hard trying to keep up with making those special things I loved as a child with her so-called instructions. Might have another look, think it was an Escoffier one so should be good.
As for looking glamorous (thank you more than I can ever say Gill!!) I can't believe how much weight I've put on SINCE having Peanut. Is literally piling on somehow and I desperately need to put the brakes on it. Just love eating though and my appetite just won't abate - any suggestions ? (although I do realise this is the $64million question !)
Tasha, I can't believe you have a brother the same age as your son - a total mind flip for me ! (I had older parents hence it beyond imaginable) but how lovely to have those special bonds between the children ?

tasha21 · 25/10/2007 21:16

yea it was very strange being pregnant at same time as mum. im sure you can imagine the hormones in our house lol but its nice now to be able to talk to mum about the kids and not feel that she hasnt a clue lol

GillL · 26/10/2007 08:16

It's going to be a long day. Ds slept through properly for the first time - last feed at 9:30pm, asleep by 10:30 and awake at 7am. Unfortunately I didn't get to sleep til nearly midnight, despite going to bed just after ds. Then he stirred at 3am. I woke up and went to the loo and didn't get back to sleep for nearly an hour. Then dd woke up at 6:30am. I am soooooo tired. It might help me get to sleep better tonight though. Recently it's been taking me up to an hour to get to sleep each night. When I was pg I would fall asleep as soon as my head hit the pillow.

no probs TT. Up until a few weeks ago I'd been eating like I was still pg. Then I had a busy few days and ate very little and I've carried on trying to have just breakfast, lunch and dinner with only 1 or 2 small snacks. We've also started cooking from my weight watchers cookery book. I've lost half a stone already.

conkertree - I had my period a few weeks ago.

shrinkingsagpuss · 26/10/2007 08:32

GillL you poor thing - it seems just as one of us starts havng good nights, another hasbad ones! 9.30 - 0700 - blimey that is mpressive though?!! Evie managed til 2.30, from 7, then 6.00 ish. I brought her in for a cuddle so she didn't get fed til 6.45.

I'm off into work this morning t finally show her off - so can't stop - must look my best!! ha ha!

Annie75 · 26/10/2007 09:30

Looks like a new style thingy has come in for the message boards. Have we lost yesterday's postings or is it just that I can't find 'em?

Annie75 · 26/10/2007 09:32

Oh right. It is just me. They're the wrong way down for me. Hmm, seem to have lost everyone's profiles too...

Annie75 · 26/10/2007 09:43

Boo hoo - I seem to have lost everyone's profiles too...
