Congratulations shanks - and slightly ! Can I possibly go for no 3?!

Callie, the plane will be fine. Make sure you stride up to the departure gate nice and early and INSIST on being boarded first.

Bella, gosh 25 weeks is very early - hope he is doing well .

Hello everyone else, hope you are all well.

Illness still pervades here today - DD1 got diarrhoea now and I still have no voice. Got a fantastic new phone though and havibg my hair done tomorrow mornign so feeling very chipper!

TheBlonde · 03/08/2007 21:59

Callie - just to go against everyone else we always get on as late as possible

foxcub · 03/08/2007 22:35

Dolly sending healthy to you and your family

Hi, crashing from neighbouring thread to see how other postnatal groups on here are doing in terms of level of activity. The number of April 2007 thread members on facebook is in double figures.

Unlike Friends Reunited, you can get in touch with anyone you find on there who you've not talked to in ages for free. However, it's less structured than FR, and I find it difficult to find people with really common names there. When I do find someone I often see if their friend list contains anyone else I know/knew.

elkiedee · 04/08/2007 01:29

And congratulations shanks, hope all goes well for you. I want to try again but not quite that quickly.

kittywits · 04/08/2007 09:29

I think I'm too old for face book, my brain is atrophied

Shanks, well done. I feel slightly which shocks me as I don't want to go through a preg again or have a screaming newborn again. i'm mad

OP posts:
divastrop · 04/08/2007 12:35

i dont think i'd want to get in touch with any old friends.i think theres something slightly strange about all that...i prefer to leave the past where it is

i hope there isnt going to be a mass exodous from mumsnet

kitty-when i hear of others' pregnancies i think 'how lovely for them.i want to get steralised.'

Elsie was screaming for hours yesterday evening.i think shes teething and she was constipated.at least she went to sleep eventually.

foxcub · 04/08/2007 12:56

Diva - LOL!! at your reaction when hearing of other people's PGcies.

I too am feeling a bit threatened by Facebook!!

Stay on here you lot!!

TheBlonde · 04/08/2007 13:53

Facebook just isn't the same sort of thing so I think mumsnet will always win over!

divastrop · 04/08/2007 16:27

fox-they'll all be back when they want a row

kiwibella · 04/08/2007 19:37

Facebook is more like 1:1 communicating instead of a public forum like here. It's just all the added ditties which are complete timewasters. It is a good outlet for sharing piccies and what is happening in your life where all your friends can peep.

Nothing can beat Mumsnet!!

Diva... bit personal but does your dh2b feel the same about more kiddliwinks too?

We are "officially" trying instead of just hoping and have begun charting. Fingers toes and everything else crossed.

I haven't heard anymore about my friend and her baby - tbh tho, I haven't asked around yet. She was in hospital being monitored before bubs was born.

Dolly (((hugs))) to your household - tho prob shouldn't get too close . Enjoy your haircut .

Today is absolutely gorgeous - we had a massive walk across to Blackheath and lunch in a micro-brewery. It was absolutely fab! Last night hubs and I were able to go to a bday party together... it felt like when we were first going out together, ah x x

Hope everyone is having a great weekend.

kittywits · 04/08/2007 19:40

Ah I see kiwi. Well since having more children than I know what to do with I haven't got friends any more. I'll stay here with my cyber mates

Am I correct in thinking we already have 2 babies on the way in the March gang?

Anyone else keen for another?

divastrop · 04/08/2007 21:08

kitty-same herealthough i have met some in rl now!

bella-aye,dp feels the same about more kids.when my af was a long time returning after i had the mirena coil out he was s*ing himself.and we both know our relationship would never survive another pregnancy.

have just spoken to ds and dd1 on the phone.theyve been in southend all day enjoying the sunshine(and emptying my mum's purse no doubt).its been peeing down all day here.

Mossy · 05/08/2007 08:56

Sorry for disappearing everyone! I've been trying to sort things out with dh the last few days.

Will come back later today and post properly. I just wanted to say a huge congratulations to Shanks I'm actually ever-so-slightly but like Diva I don't think my relationship could survive another pgcy atm!

Dolly I hope all you poorly lot are feeling better soon. Big {{{{hugs}}}} to you all.

Kiwibella good luck with ttc. Where in London are you btw? I lived in Lewisham for a bit and often walked over to Blackheath, admittedly usually pilling my nuts off at five in the morning!

Oh I'm so sensible now. Last night I had three small glasses of sparkling wine and felt really drunk! I actually said, "oh I'm not drinking again". Good grief I'm old.

Facebook - well I would probably find it very addictive so I'd better steer well clear! I mean, I've hardly even got the chance to go on Outpost Gallifrey these days!

Right Bertie is waking... and without a scream, too! I wonder if he'll let me go on my other thread?

kittywits · 05/08/2007 08:58

Can anyone help? I went out (with Ron) on Saturday evening. Neddless to say it completely mucked up his sleeping/feeding patterns. Yesterday I noticed my right boob was a bit sore. It has got worse and I can feel a lump. I've tried massaging/hot water bottle but it's still there and hurts more and more. My whole body feels stiff and sore BUT I haven't got a temp.
Is this masatis or just a blocked duct and what else can I do to help?
Needless to say I got almost zero sleep what with the pain and the worry

Mossy · 05/08/2007 11:04

Kitty I don't know, could you post in feeding section I've always had lots of help there in the past?

Poor you.

DollyPopsOut · 05/08/2007 11:32

Kitty - poor you . Have you tried combing it very gently towards the nip? Sounds bonkers but it works. A wide tooth comb is best. Other than that, I just start every feed on the lumpy side for a day or so when I get sore.

Hello everyone hope you are well. Had a disastrous haircut yest which is rather annoying but it will grow I suppose! Need to find a new hairdresser though. Boo!

No time to post properly - must go and chase DD1 into the garden. Love to all

Dolly, I'll try that thanks{smile] How often do your lumpy boobs last then ?

OP posts:
foxcub · 05/08/2007 11:43

Kitty - Poor you - I get this about every 6 weeks, usually from a crap latch.

I do the following, which always eeems to work:

Massage lump very hard before each feed - literally getting the lump between two fingers/nails and breaking up the lump of blocked milk. Use a lot of pressure to force the lumps to break up, even if it hurts a bit

Hot shower after each feed - put hot/cold/hot onto lumpy spot and massage firmly towards nip, to push out any milk left after the feed (don't worry if it doesn't drip out, you are still freeing it up from the ducts)

Loads of feeding on that side - once an hour if neccessary - (the best medicine) - massaging and combing a la Mossy each time

have you got any breast nurses? those plastic semi circles full of gel, to heat up and place on the lumpy bit? Do this (or use flannels) before each feed and the heat will loosen up the milk

You may notice some creamy bits round Ronnie's mouth after feeds - which are the lumpy bits of milk so that's a good sign, as it means he is drawing them out

When it happens to me I just stay in all day or even for 2 days and just feed/massage/feed

The hot/cold shower and a dose of Ibuprofen should reduce the swelling you get around the lump, which will help you identify the offeding spot. Mine always get very distended when they are blocked

Good luck

[hugs]

foxcub · 05/08/2007 11:43

Sorry I meant "a la Dolly"

kittywits · 05/08/2007 12:19

Thanks foxy. I can see and feel where the lump is. It's bright red and hot and very painful to touch. I now feel very hot and achey. God, I've got an infection now haven't I? (aghhhh)

mossy-when i came home pissed as a fart the other night after 3 small glasses of wine and a bacardi i started to wonder if it was something to do with turning 30.i mean,i used to go for a little drink after work and that would be 4 pints of lager.at the weekends i used to drink 8-10 pints

i too have memories of being in south london late at night after ingesting an illegal substance.i thought i could just walk back to my mums if i missed the last tube.dont think i would have survived walking accross the thames though.

i am waiting for Elsie to ask for her next feed so we can go to the sure start family 'fun' day at the field near the dc's school.its all free(rides, bouncy castles etc)so ds2 will enjoy himself.
