@WhatALearningCurve ah that's good to know, we've still been sticking to half an hour as the HV didnt know when they could go longer! Hm so at 7and half months we could technically do the 6 hours to Cornwall as we would stop every 2 hours anyway but not sure if its too much.

@ballanj its draining isnt it when they wont go back to sleep after that middle of the night one. Last night was one of those times for us so he didnt really sleep from 4 til after his 8am feed as he obviously needed a poo but didn't do it til just before the 8am feed. Not sure what to suggest, is there light coming into the room at all after the 4am one? I find if i can't get him back down before the sun comes up then he won't go back to sleep even though we have blackout curtains as it gets a bit lighter in the room.

@kee80 George has 5oz every 4 hours until his last bottle when he goes 5 hours between the bedtime and his next one as we dont wake him for it. He then does 4 again til his next one. Occasionally does longer than 4 in the day if he's fell asleep around an hour before hes due. Was your little one doing every 2 hours while on 4oz and now every 2 hours still on 5oz? We did notice George went longer after we upped it to 5oz as before that he wanted feeding every 3. I guess maybe as she has more she might want to go longer. How long have you been doing 5?

WhatALearningCurve · 07/05/2019 16:26

@melissa112 I think you'll be fine as long as you make a couple of stops. To be fair I'm 31 and I wouldn't wanna be in a car for 6 hours straight so you'd probably stop anyway ha

WhatALearningCurve · 07/05/2019 16:26

Just got home and the letter from HMRC was on the doormat ha

melissa112 · 07/05/2019 16:32

@WhatALearningCurve yeh we always stop at least 3 times on our way down there anyway. Just feeling nervous about booking it and then not feeling hes old enough to manage the journey. And the sleeping situation as not sure what others do as i cant bring his cot.

Ha thats good about the CB letter!

kee80 · 07/05/2019 16:49

@melissa112 yes she was going every 2 hours whilst on 4oz. I've only started her on 5oz today so hopefully she may go a little longer

WhatALearningCurve · 07/05/2019 16:50

@melissa112 I don't have much experience of the drive but I'm in Manchester and my sisters in laws all live in Kent - shes done the journey with her kids a lot from being young and that's about 6 hours - there are 4 of them and they're all completely okay (if any teenage boys are completely okay 😂). I think yours will fine!! In terms of sleeping - could you not get a travel cot? You can get some for a decent price?

HidCat · 07/05/2019 17:07

@CaseofEllen hope you're doing ok after your horrible night. Fingers crossed tonight is better.

We've had a bit of a rough week with Melissa not wanting to settle during the day and what I think is reflux T night. I think it's been a knock on from the tummy bug last week. Today has been better though so fingers crossed we're through the worst, for now of course. Hope everyone is doing ok!

ballanj · 07/05/2019 17:58

@CaseofEllen you have my full sympathies! Obviously wishing your situation improves but reassuring to know there's others on here who are experiencing similar issues and it's not my trying of getting him into a routine that's the problem! All I keep reading is people getting six hours straight just at the right time of night and I'm like 'kill me now' 😂

ballanj · 07/05/2019 18:01

@kee80 I found my little one has only started going 3-4 hours as opposed to 2-3 between feeds consistently the last couple of weeks. We still have days where he'll want more or less feed at different times too. It can be fits and starts. My LO has been on 5oz since week 4, he'll be 8 weeks on Thursday and we're going to up to 6oz and see how he gets on as he's had a couple of feeds where he's drained 5oz and still not been satisfied. It really is a bloody minefield at times!

ballanj · 07/05/2019 18:03

@melissa112 I'm not sure if the light is an issue as he tends to be a pretty good sleeper at every other time, day or night! But it could be to do with that I guess. Or maybe he now expects me to pick him up for a cuddle and is programmed to awaken for that reason alone. I'll have to try just giving him a quick cuddle to try and settle and then putting him down.

kee80 · 07/05/2019 18:41

@ballanj shes just started to drain 4oz and sometimes seems like she wants more. I feel like I'm constantly just washing, sterilising and making up bottles with her going every 2 hours. Hopefully she may go a little longer now I've started her on 5oz.
Regarding night feeding she's the same, last bottle around 11ish then will wake around 3-4am and will only really settle and go straight back if I move her across on to our bed at the side of me. She will then sleep till around 8-8.30am. I know I'm making a rod for my own back doing this but if it gives us both a little more sleep then I'll do it

Sheeni · 07/05/2019 19:05

@melissa112 Tongue tie is officially cut. Apparently, it was about 90% attached, so not at all "little bit attached" as they told us in hospital, when we enquired first. Angry
He's a very unhappy boy at the moment when trying to feed, I guess it hurts him a bit and his tongue is a bit tired, but it's so hard to latch him on. But we're told it should be better tomorrow and I hope it is true. I swear my boobs are just not built for feeding - small with nipples facing outward. Poor little guy has to really work for it. Whenever I watch all those "how to" breastfeeding videos with the well-endowed women who have a foot-wide circle they can position the breast in, I'm green with envy.

ballanj · 07/05/2019 20:40

@kee80 I'm exactly the same as you, sometimes needs must! I always said to myself before having a baby 'I'd NEVER let a baby sleep in bed with me'....that went completely out the window about 3 weeks ago!

SquirtlesMumAgain · 07/05/2019 20:48

Thank you for the new thread.
Struggling to keep up - funeral is on Monday and life is somehow carrying on.

Can't face organising a christening - Mum should have been there however much she hated church. Will do when I am a bit stronger. As much as everything it is a good opportunity to get everyone together for a good reason.

Wineandchoccy · 07/05/2019 21:23

@SquirtlesMumAgain I have been thinking of you, I hope you give your Mum a lovely send off even though it will be an incredibly hard day x

Wineandchoccy · 07/05/2019 21:24

Dd has been struggling with wind tonight so tried gripe water she has been sick on my bed and then pooed which leaked through her sleepsuit 😩 I should have just carried on patting her back Grin

Angelmiracle · 07/05/2019 23:00

GP said DD has thrush. She is on Nystatin which makes her gag Sad to be given 4 times a day for a week and I have Daktarin for my nipples which has to be washed off before she feeds. Such a faff but hope it helps!!

Those of you with 2 DC when claiming child benefit do you just enter the baby's details or does DC1 info have to be put down too?? I'm confused by the form! Obvs already getting CB for DS.

Sending virtual hugs @Squirtlesmumagain you've a lot going on it must be tough going. Hope you are getting some rest too 🌸🌻

OP posts:
Angelmiracle · 07/05/2019 23:06

@Wineandchoccy oh that's not nice hope DD can get relieved of the wind! DD struggles with it particularly during the day and tends to pass it through her bottom rather than burping which takes longer and makes it difficult to settle her for a nap.

Angelmiracle · 07/05/2019 23:10

@HidCat the reflux is sore on them isn't it hopefully she's getting past it now!

DD has outpatient appointment for her heart murmur on Monday. Fx it has gone away on its own 🤞

@SquirtlesMumAgain thinking of you lovely. Hope you are finding some comfort in your little one. You're incredibly brave xx

BadBadBeans · 08/05/2019 03:56

@Angelmiracle there is a part early on where they ask about existing claims and you fill out your first child's info. Then when it comes to filling out who you are claiming for this time, you just put your new baby's details. It's not immediately clear I agree, but if you read the small print at the start of that section it tells you that you don't need to reenter your first child's details. (My husband got very confused because he wasn't reading the notes by each section and I got a bit cross with him because it was supposed to be his job but I had to swoop in and help him out! 😂)

@SquirtlesMumAgain what a lot you are going through. I hope the funeral is a beautiful event.

HidCat · 08/05/2019 08:06

@SquirtlesMumAgain I hope you're ok. I can't imagine how tough things are for you. xxx

@Wineandchoccy oh no! I've taken to feeding away from the bed, just in case. We have a sofa in what will become the nursery so I set up in there (no lights) instead.

@Angelmiracle good luck with the appointment. 🤞🤞🤞

MistakenHoliday · 08/05/2019 14:40

@Angelmiracle I just put DD2 down and there's a section where I put DD1's name down. Such a confusing form though!

kee80 · 08/05/2019 15:53

If your already claiming child benefit for a child then you don't have to fill the form in you can just ring up and do it over the phone. My friend told me this after I'd already sent mine off, it's what she did
