Apologies if anyone has started this - I can't see one anywhere. Thought we could all meet up here to discuss our newborn darlings.
My little man is doing well - this is day five (I think!). He is feeding well but my nipples are sore - am sure my latch is OK but I suppose it can't be. MW comes tomorrow so will ask her. He's got lots of wet and dirty nappies so milk must be going down OK. He feeds lots in the day and then about 3 times between 8pm-8am. Slept from 2.30am to 8am today. Feeling proud of self as managed trip to playgrund this morning with him in sling and dd in buggy. Managed a 45 min play and about 30 min walk and he slept the whole time. It's as scary going out the first time with him as it was with dd!

Anyway, will stop whittering! Had a few tears (mine) yesterday as I was looking at him and thinking how lucky I am to have two lovely children. Couldn't stop crying. Hormones, hey?
How are the rest of you doing? Wonder who'll be next to pop? Highlander has her section on Monday, I think.....

Hi Charleepeters, Do you have to give Jack Soya milk? Or do you give him something else? I remember my sister having to have that when she was a baby. Ben is also quite good with finger food although he will usually pick up a sarnie take a bite then drop it before moving onto the next bit! Also, if I put meat into his sarnies he is fine to eat it!?!

Will have to investigate this site for some more imaginative sandwich recipes!

sorry Dinny, didn't see your post. Moving back to sunny Newcastle. Can't wait to see my wee house again, although a bit nervous as to what state I'll find it in!

It's probably going to take years to catch up with Eastenders.......

charleepeters · 12/05/2005 12:27

yes Jack does have special milk but its called neocate, soya doesnt contain enough calcium in itso hes on milk they give to spacemen!

dinny · 12/05/2005 21:05

shouldn't bother with EastEnders, Highlander - it's dire these days (IMO!) x

Hi everyone

I dip in and out of mumsnet and find it really useful. My boy was born on 20th Sept 2004.

He is only just sitting by himself and no sign of crawling yet! I don't feed him much meat he has lentils nearly every day but I find that he doesn't like lumps - how is everyone else doing on th eprotein front??

Saacsmum · 28/05/2005 10:03

Hi, we are in NZ and ds was born on 24th Sept. He had a spontaneous perforation of the caecum at 1 day old. He spent 4wks in hospital and had an operation at the age of 3wks. He has several allergies and has had a bit of a rough road. That said he is stunningly gorgeous and while he is not mobile he has just started to sit independently and this week has started baby chatter which is delightful. As you can imagine the solids issue is a biggie in our house, it is a slow and steady road, he now can eat a variety of veggies, lamb and pear (the only fruit he hasnt reacted to so far) he eats very small amounts and we are getting some small amounts of progress with finger foods, ripe slices of pear and steamed broccoli have succeeded. Nice to meet some other 8mth olds around the world, hope all is going well for you all.

dejags · 01/06/2005 18:59

Hi all,

Just thought I would update on here and see how you are all doing.

DS2 is going into hospital tomorrow for an operation on his ears . They are totally blocked and he is in constant discomfort so we have decided to go ahead with it. The docs think this may be a contributing factor to his terrible sleeping habits. Fingers crossed hey?

On the upside our little boy is now totally mobile. He crawls at breakneck speed and is cruising the furniture like a pro now. I think he will be walking by the time he is 10 months. I must say I am finding this stage very tiresome, he is always into something he shouldn't be and I can't leave anything within his reach. It just feels as if I never sit still. DS1 was exactly the same - I remember all the other mums sitting down and enjoying their cuppa at playgroup, while I ran around like a crazy woman chasing after him. The only upside is that he will be confidently walking soon enough and then things get easier again.

How are you all doing. Shall we do a roll call?

charleepeters · 01/06/2005 19:30

Hi everyone my my we have been quiet latley! Ds is doing really well hes just 9 motnhs and hes been sitting for ages now, hes trying despratly to crawl but cant quite get the legs right! he chats loads though and never seems to shut up bless him hes all ga ga, ah bo! hes doing well with solids and is eating finger foods by the bowl full and eats his meals well, just waiting for the crawling now then he will be unstoppable!

highlander · 01/06/2005 20:40

good luck tomorrow dejags. I really hope they get to the bottom of Tate's problems soon

dejags · 02/06/2005 12:51

Thanks Highlander.

Everything went smoothly and he is home. They think they have found the main cause of the problem - gastric reflux believe it or not. He had terrible reflux as a small infant so I am not too surprised. He has never "told" us he is in pain but this explains the terrible sleep problems.

More importantly he has not got a sub-mucousal cleft palate which I am pleased about.

All is well

highlander · 02/06/2005 23:22

wow - can they do anything about it? Is he on the monster Gaviscon tabs?

seriously, he must have been in so much pain. I had bad reflux when I was pregnant and it was horrible waking up with that burning feeling.

Fingers crossed he's feeling better soon.

how's life otherwise down there?

highlander · 02/06/2005 23:25

sorry I didn't say welcome saacsmum

I have a 8.5mo DS who is also still lingering around veg and fruit purees! He'll tolerate the occasional lump but I suspect he's a bit lazy.
That must have been horrid seeing your DS being operated on at such a young age. What part of NZ are you in?

Saacsmum · 03/06/2005 08:03

Thanks for the welcome highlander. We are in the
South Island in Christchurch currently freezing our buns off. The whole first 8 weeks of Saacs life were fairly horrific but we were extremely lucky and he was just amazing with what he coped with. Where abouts is everyone else on this thread?

Saacsmum · 07/06/2005 09:57

Hi there charlieepeters, my boy doesnt crawl, he has only just worked out he can sit up!

highlander · 08/06/2005 19:02

DS showing no interest in crawling, but does try and bounce/shuffle forward on his bum.

fredly · 10/06/2005 15:11

Hi Charleepeters, my little Elise (born on 12th sept) has just figured out how to sit up on her own, but still grunts and moans when I put her on her front for a bit of crawling exercise ! She's never been very adventurous, ignores all the toys beyond her reach and has never completely rolled over. But she's the smiliest baby ever and I love her to tears.

charleepeters · 20/06/2005 14:34

Thanks guys i was worrying he was the only one - he has started to cruise the furniture so i dont think he will crawl, he hates being on his front! this is his first reallyh ot couple of days and hes not really happy with it!

fredly · 20/06/2005 14:47

eh eh charleepeters, how did I know you were going to be here ?!

fredly · 20/06/2005 14:51

just read my last post and things have changed ! my dd now loves standing on her own and practise her dancing technique Elvis style ! Have a feeling she'll by pass the crawling stage altogether and walk straight away

mandyc66 · 28/06/2005 14:01

fredly · 29/06/2005 10:54

Hi all, my dd has just started using a beaker but doesn't seem to be able to feed herself from it. Can any of our Sept babies do it yet ?

mandyc66 · 29/06/2005 12:28
