Em is pretty ambilavent to most people other than DH and DS, who she loves.

She will not give in to sleep tonight at all...well, there's some EBM so I'm off to bed.

G'nightxx

bumperlicious · 23/07/2007 06:54

Hi all, just typing as I catch up so sorry if disjointed.

Andiem1, I haven't been to Buggyfit, but they do one near me and I want to give it a go (as long as the weather improves).

Talking of weather, we've been in the thick of it down here. DH couldn't go to work yesterday. Thank god he didn't work friday as 2 of his colleagues had to stay in the shop over night! We nearly got stuck coming home from the in laws on saturday and our water has been switched off for up to 3 days! There is still some in the system though, and we filled up lots of pots etc.! Thank god I'm bfing that's all I can say!

of you and DH daisy - I think I'm damaged forever - I may never have sex again!

trendaverter · 23/07/2007 07:45

Morning all
I am tired, had a rough couple of days, LO waking up every hour in the night for food...he used to be really good but his hunger has gone to pot the last few days and we are getting literally no rest.
Last night me & DH just feeling very drained and depressed as he just wants to eat ALL the time and cries whenever he is not eating.

Then I decided to use the emergency carton of SMA white (for hungrier babies) instead of the usual Gold we give him.

Fed him 6oz at 10pm.

Sleep til 4am, then he took 4oz.

Still asleep.

We are switching to SMA white now.

foxybrown · 23/07/2007 09:20

I could cry.

Major disaster this morning.

Having made huge efforts to get ahead of the game, lo was changed and feeding by 7am, I was showered, dressed and made-up by 7.30, and by 8am I had managed to express 4oz from my painful breast, after great effort.

Then the fucking cup fell off the fucking pump and the milk fell all over the fucking kitchen floor.

Sob!

Right off to catch up with you all.

Morning TA!

annobal · 23/07/2007 09:25

Oh Foxy! What a PITA!! Well done on your getting up and dressed AND made up (still haven't managed that, in fact, not sure where my make up is!!). Think you'd better go and buy something from the fat face sale

Is DP back at work today? DH was meant to go back today but is still ill and am taking him back to drs today.

DS1 woke up last night with a barking cough - after I'd been asleep for about an hour... I forgot how precious sleep is.

Morning TA!

daisyandbabybootoo · 23/07/2007 09:27

good morning..

TA, I'm glad you managed to get some sleep, but I would be wary of SMA white. When I was FF DS, my HV advised me not to use the hungrier baby formulas. AFAIK, they are made to be harder to digest so keeps their tummies fuller for longer, making them appear not as hungry whilst reducing their volume of milk, so more problems likely with constipation etc. Derlor might have more info though.

Bumper, I was thinking about you in all that rain when I saw the news last night. Sounds like a real nightmare.

Sorry things are a bit ouchy for you still, but it is early days if you had stitches. I read somewhere as well that BFing can make things a bit drier too which won't help with comfort levels. Try oodles of KY Jelly! sorry if tmi/too personal

DD slept for another 5.5 hour stretch from 11:15 till 4:45. She then went down again from 6:00 till 9:00. She's done this for a few nights now, so looks like we have some sort of pattern emerging at last.

foxybrown · 23/07/2007 09:33

I felt positively human having slapped a load of Benefit's various eye-brightners on!

Now I just stink of breastmilk, but having got my jeans on (my larger jeans, I hasten to add) I'm not going to change. Fark it.

Yep, DP just left. But he's going to try to get back to take the boys for their first tennis lesson this afternoon.

Had sent DS1 to his room, and DS2 on the Norty Step before brekkie. So not the best start to Day 1 on my own.

Its one thing having to wake up for a newborn, but easy to forget that you have to do it for the others. And then there's the DP imposed waking up, snoring etc. That tips me over the edge!

Daisy, you be careful! If you are fully breastfeeding, every 2 - 3 hours I think it is, then you should be OK. Of course, you ovulate before you get a period, so you might not know you have... Oooo-eeeer Missus!

daisyandbabybootoo · 23/07/2007 09:33

cross posts.....bugger foxy, what a pita. I hate wasting even a drop of ebm...it's more precious than gold in this house..it means freedom for mum!

Hope your boobs get less painful soon.

sorry things are stll crap for you sleepwise annobal. although i've been up since before 5, i still got a good 6 hours last night so feel OK.

babyboo has been full of laughs and smiles this morning, she's lovely!

Charlie999 · 23/07/2007 09:42

Morning all

Had a rough night with my LO as she decided she wasn't tired after her feed at 4am and although there was no screaming, her kicking about and cooing kept me awake. I really must get her into her own room!

Interesting TA about the formula for hungrier babies - I have wondered about using that for DD - perhaps just for the late feed to help her sleep. A couple of weeks ago she was going 5-6 hours between feeds - now she is back to every 4 hours on the dot - also 6oz.

Got a TMI question for all you that have done this before - talking about periods - can they change after having a baby? I used to last just 3-4 days. I have been going for 18 days now - don't know whether its normal or not? I've had enough of it (so has DH ) - may have to go GP.

Hope everyone has had some sleep!

andiem · 23/07/2007 09:42

aaagh lo slept a lot yesterday and did I pay the price last night he had 5 feeds instead of his normal 2. Luckily dh has taken ds1 to holiday playscheme for the morning so can have a quiet am.

Foxy how frustrating I would be weeping after all your effort as well

I have gone round with bra undone and norks out easy to forget isn't it

Daisy good on you and dh can't imagine it at the moment but hopefully will get the urge back

daisyandbabybootoo · 23/07/2007 09:43

ah well foxy...que sera sera and all that. We won't be making that mistake again that's for sure.

I bought some big jeans yesterday, which I'm happy to report are on the big side, as although I can get my other ones on, I can't breathe or sit down in them. Never mind, comfort is all!

Off to do a supermarket shop and to try and find some full length trousers/jeans for this LO...all she got was shorts and I've only got two pair of leggings and a pair of (boys) dungarees for her.

It's dry here today...well at least for the moment anyway!

Charlie999 · 23/07/2007 09:46

Ahh Daisy - interesting what you said about formula - I also have emergency cartons in the cupboard - but will do a bit of research now.

daisyandbabybootoo · 23/07/2007 09:48

Charlie...mine got shorter and less painful after DS, but much heavier/thicker while they lasted. I BF him for 6 weeks too, so not sure if that makes a difference initially than FF from the start? It sounds a bit much to me though so I'd mention it to your HV/GP.

Have fun with the tennis lessons foxy....future Wimbledon champions in the making I hope.

My cloth nappies should arrive today..I'm quite excited about it!

daisyandbabybootoo · 23/07/2007 09:53

I could be talking pants charlie....my last HV was a bit anti-formula and tried to put me off switching in the first place. I would check the calories though, cos if they are taking less volume, but the calorie content is the same, then are they getting enough calories?

foxybrown · 23/07/2007 09:56

Oh, I hope so, future Murray brothers perhaps? Only a fiver each, so a good investment for my future I think! Get a decent nursing home out of my boys

LOL re excitment over cloth nappies! You can spend much of today washing and folding them, and making perfect little piles to put away. Or is that just me and my compulsive laundry-ing?

HV due at 1pm today, so much hanging around this morning.

Righto, off to start my 'to do' list jobs. Dentist appointments first. Gosh, how exciting life is!

andiem · 23/07/2007 09:56

my understanding is that the calorie content of sma gold and white is the same but white contains a bulking agent that makes it fill their tummies up more think that's right Derlor where are u????

daisyandbabybootoo · 23/07/2007 09:59

catch everyone later...shopping hell with stroppy five year old tweenager

Oh Joy!

Charlie999 · 23/07/2007 10:01

Thanks Daisy - couldn't decide whether to tell GP or not - will go tomorrow...

right RL beckons - dishwasher to empty, hoovering up cat and dog hairs, MORE washing - exciting life I lead these days

I remember the days (only 9 weeks ago) when I used to do all the housework on a Saturday, 3 loads of washing for the whole week, and then no housework at all during the week as I spent so little time here and too much time at work! And my house was a lot cleaner and tidier then than it is now - and I didn't spend all day wondering what to cook for dinner

loonylovegood · 23/07/2007 10:04

Morning everyone, can I just say AAAARRRRSSSSEEEE!!! When is it gonna stop raining? I checked the washing on the line last night before it got dark and it was still a bit damp, so I left it out coz it was a lovely warm evening. I woke up at about 3 to the sound of it pissing it down! I've got so much washing to do, it is a big pile of shit!

On the subject of periods I used to have really horrid nasty painful ones before I got pg the first time, but since then they have been pain free and much less yucky! Apart from the lovely baby that was the only good part about having been pg!!

They are threatening that our power might go off too. One local power station has gone, another one is high risk. Just taken DH an hour and a half to get to work. He lives the furthest away and two of the people who live the closest haven't yet turned up

loonylovegood · 23/07/2007 10:32

Oh bumper, that's awful. Bloody rain! Is there someone you can stay with if your power goes off?
