Thanks bubblybrit and detachablehoof. I was against early weaning with DS1 and weaned him at 6 months exactly. I planned to do the same with DS2 this time round but I'll see! I can imagine him wanting it earlier, DS1 wasn't (and still isn't) a greedy child. I wouldn't do it before about 5.5 months anyway, as to be honest as well as the guidance it's a faff!!! And DS2 is still sleeping a good 10+ hours at night without milk so can't complain too much. I just find it mad that he literally SCREAMS for milk only two hours after having 7-8oz!

detachablehoof · 17/06/2019 22:15

Ugh I'm so jealous of all the amazing sleepers!! If we get a 5h stretch we call it a good night! I shouldn't complain too much though, she does stay in her pram for an entire 12 hours, but just needs regular dummy putting in and a couple of bottles :-/

Since2016 · 18/06/2019 08:12

Bear in mind with sleep around this point that the sleep regression kicks in and if they can’t self settle at this point they need to be helped back to sleep often - dummy / feed etc... as they can’t link their own sleep cycles. Just saying that often it’s not just hunger related and is a developmental thing!

DD2 is still only really waking once a night. Last night she slept 8:30-4. But then feeds more frequently as she’s catching up! But going much longer stretches now. However, although she self settles for naps etc and sleeps 3-4 hours for a nap in her cot she will not sleep for love nor money in her pram or the car!!!! Even resisting sleeping in the sling now!!!! Swings and roundabouts though I guess!

Re weaning - I’m also waiting till 6 months. Primarily as @Lookingforadvice123 says - it’s a massive faff - I am in no rush for that business!

PND wise - starting finally to feel a bit better. Have upped the medication dose and strt CBT next week. Feel more like me again ☺️

Yakadee · 18/06/2019 15:01

@Since2016 - glad to hear things are improving for you.

For reference, Emma has approx 5-6 bottles and around 6-7 Oz. Just had her weighed today and she's a very healthy 20lbs! Following her curve though so hv is happy.

I'm not sure whether she's going through the regression or teething? She's defo been fussier than normal. For a long time she went down around 7:30-8pm, fed around 10pm and then wouldn't wake until after 7am (how lucky am I!) however the last few days she's eating at different times and she had a feed in the night last night 🤷‍♀️

mummymummymummummum · 18/06/2019 16:36

@Since2016 I got A weighed today; she's 10lb9oz! Just about tracking her curve.

mummymummymummummum · 18/06/2019 16:36

Sorry, tag fail.

bubblybrit · 19/06/2019 02:41

Think I might be in the sleep regression stage 😬!

Baby A had been going to bed around 9.30 and slept reasonably peacefully until 6am. Then quick nappy change and feed before falling back to sleep until around 8.30-9am.

However the last two nights she has been getting up around 2-3am 😢 she has been thrashing about in her moses basket the hour before but I’ve been leaving her to see if she settles down....no such luck. So we get up for a feed/change. Takes me about an hour to get her into a deep enough sleep to pop her back into her moses basket (she is currently ‘sleeping’ but the slightest noise/movement and her eyes are wide open again).

Yesterday I got her settled enough at 4am. She slept until 6.30. Thrashed around until 7am when I got her up. Wouldn’t go back to sleep at all until morning nap of 30 mins at 11am!

Goodness knows what will happen today 😴!!

Where is my great little sleeper?!?

bubblybrit · 19/06/2019 06:36

So following on from my previous post....baby A was put back into her crib just after 3am. Woke up at 5am screaming for her bottle. Quick nappy change and back in crib for 5.45. She is awake AGAIN!?! Trying to let her lie to see if she will go back to sleep but not holding out much hope 😢😴

Yakadee · 19/06/2019 07:00

@bubblybrit - I'm with you on the sleep struggle. Baby has a cold (and has for like 3 weeks!) and was coughing and spluttering all night (at least it feels that way!). Absolutely shattered this morning 😩

bubblybrit · 19/06/2019 09:13

@Yakadee. That must be awful. Baby A has been sneezing a little but she has done so since birth practically. HV wasn’t concerned. Hope your LO feels better soon and that you can get some sleep! I’m not sure if she is going through a growth spurt as usually has one 6oz bottle overnight (very rarely finishes this) but last night she had two 6oz bottles and guzzled the lot!

Lookingforadvice123 · 19/06/2019 09:21

With the sleep regression, the "advice" apparently is to get them used to going down to bed awake before they hit the stage. Easier said than done I know!!! DS2 was self settling in his crib ok for daytime naps but the last couple of days he won't and cries and cries, so I'm wondering if that's the regression! He's great at night still - fingers crossed that continues

Had DS2's 16 week immunisations yesterday, all fine except an hour later noticed a spotty, purple, non-blanching rash on his legs. Typical! I wasn't worried as he was so happy but obviously couldn't ignore it. Called NHS direct and after a lot of waiting and to-ing and fro-ing they said to go to A&E. I wish we hadn't bothered with NHS direct and just gone straight to A&E to be honest. All was fine, they had to do a blood test to rule out meningitis, but wouldn't discharge him until the results were back so DH and he (I was home with DS1) had to wait around for hours and didn't get home til 1am. He (DS2!) was a little star though and didn't complain, went straight to sleep in his bed with no issues.

Yakadee · 19/06/2019 12:05

@bubblybrit - thanks, me too! Sounds like she needs it, I don't think babies are greedy.

@Lookingforadvice123 - scary, glad everything's OK. Waiting is awful x

bubblybrit · 19/06/2019 14:49

@Lookingforadvice123. Glad everything is ok xx

bubblybrit · 19/06/2019 14:54

What do you all think....Anna was supposed to have her 16w vaccinations yesterday (she is actually 18 weeks) but GP called in the morning to say the nurse is no longer available due to family emergency. Rescheduled until the 25th June when Anna will be 19 weeks. GP said this wasn’t a problem so wasn’t concerned.

Just received a call from the surgery and they have cancelled this appointment as well. They have said that due to nurse being off longer than expected that all vaccinations will now take place at the community hospital. I need to wait on a letter with an appointment date. No indication as to when the letter will arrive or when appointment will be. I’m worried that her 16w vaccinations aren’t going to take place until she is 20w plus. I know they don’t need to be given at exactly 16w but this just feels like a long time to wait?

I’ve tried to call the community hospital all morning but they aren’t picking up and they have no voicemail facility 😡

Yakadee · 20/06/2019 01:41

We have a roller! I'm so glad she decided to. Figure this out now, at 1:30am lol! X

maxiflump1 · 20/06/2019 02:29

Glad your liittle one is ok @Lookingforadvice123..

@Yakadee tat for rolling bit typical she has to mater it at such an ungodly hour! Still no sign of rolling here but he has slit of weight to try and shift!

@bubblybrit I don't think it matters if they are are a couple of weeks late. I can imagine how frustrating it must be though.

We are still waking once for a bottle in the night but going straight back down again. He does stir around 4/5 but I find if I put some white noise on he goes back to sleep again.

bubblybrit · 20/06/2019 16:38

@maxiflump1. I knew they didn’t need to take place at exactly 16w but guess I’m just worried that she might not get them until she is closer to 19 or 20w. Still no one is picking up at the hospital so looks like I’ll just need to wait for this mysterious letter 😂

Yakadee · 24/06/2019 01:21

Think we must be in the leap! 3rd night of waking for a night feed! X

maxiflump1 · 24/06/2019 09:35

@Yakadee I think we've been in it for weeks now!

We are currently on holiday (in UK) and baby hasn't pooed since Weds! He often goes 3 days without one but this is now 5. He doesn't seem too bothered about it though! We are taking DS1 to an aquarium today so no doubt the poonami will happen whilst we are there. Packing multiple outfits just in case!

Yakadee · 24/06/2019 13:16

@maxiflump1 - yikes. I feel a bit worried about that when Emma hasn't been for a day, I don't think she can go without getting it everywhere! 🤦‍♀️ good luck! X

Notquiteagandt · 24/06/2019 15:54

Feeling sad today (half joking) over the weekend I changed baby over to seat on pram from carrycot. Been on a weaning course. And just really noticed shes grown up loads 11lb10 at weigh in before. Feel like I blinked and theres this 5month old grown up little girl. Wheres my tiny baby gone 😭 its true when they say goes by so quick.

detachablehoof · 24/06/2019 16:07

So true, I get all weird thinking about the lasts. You never realise it's a last time you are doing something. Like now I never rock her to sleep in my arms, we've stopped using pram top, she baths in a big bath rather than baby tub.... and I never got to enjoy the last times as at the time I didn't know it was. (does that make any sense?! 😄)

Before I know it I'll have picked her up for the last time or kissed her goodnight for the last time or folded her laundry for the last time!

Yakadee · 24/06/2019 16:12

@detachablehoof @Notquiteagandt - aww you could make me cry! Totally get what you mean 😩

Emma isn't in her moses basket or carry cot anymore either. She's like a proper little girl now and not a tiny baby! X

maxiflump1 · 24/06/2019 17:23

@Yakadee he went! Thankfully he did it just before we were getting into the car to go out so was able to deal with it a bit easier! It was quite a substantial amount!

Yakadee · 24/06/2019 17:25

@maxiflump1 - phew! Close call! Bet you were so relieved Haha. The poonami fear is very real! X
