OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
SeverusShimmerus · 16/07/2007 10:08

Thanks Vino. Glad you think I'm not being unreasonable. I'll try and make it really clear to DP that i'd like a lie-in next time he's off. You have to be so literal with men don't you!

Does anyone know if there are any chicken or veggie stocks that are okay for the LOs?? I'm very lazy and don't really want to make my own I've been told that all shop ones have too much salt in them? I will make it if i have too, but if there are any readymade that I could use that would be easier

TheChamberofCarrots · 16/07/2007 10:15

sounds like you're giving him plenty of other milky stuff, Wilkie, but ask your HV if you are worried about it. I wouldn't bother thinking of different things either, sounds like quite a selection to me, an extremely varied diet, some LO's are only allowed to suck on toast

Shimmer - I sleep badly a lot, but I often let DH have a lie in even if I've had a bad night. It's about sharing the load and you are up every night so it's fair that he lets you have a break too. If he always sleeps badly rather than it being occasionly then that is somethinghe has to deal with. Does he try all the usual stuff, not sitting on computer/watching tv too late, no caffeine after certain times, wholefood diet with B vitamins, minerals for the nervous system etc? Herbalism can be very good for sleep problems associated with mental health/anxiety etc. Some people are just worriers.

TheChamberofCarrots · 16/07/2007 10:16

you can get Bouillon without salt

geoRGEEweasley · 16/07/2007 10:18

Shimmer you poor thing. I think the others have been very kind in their responses. Even though your DP has problems sleeping and works really hard, do you not think that you also work really hard and longer hours? I honestly think you deserve your lie in! (Am I too harsh?)
Don't know any baby friendly stock cubes. I get marigold bouillon and I know they do a reduced salt version but it's prob still full of the evil stuff.

Wilkie - one bottle! Wow! Did he drop his dream feed naturally? Want to go cold turkey on the dream feed for Pippa but worried sshe'll get me back and wake up in the middle of the night. She hasn't done that since Easter so it would be a real shock!

Trixy - I think the ice cream sounds suspect too.

EaH - is your conservatory currently the playroom?

Well while you all talk about crawling, I am coming on here to say proudly that Pippa rolled over this morning The second time (first time was about six weeks ago!).

geoRGEEweasley · 16/07/2007 10:18

Carrot -x posts great lo salty minds!

WilkiesWizardWheezes · 16/07/2007 10:23

RGee - yes, he dropped his dreamfeed himself. Has refused it the past three nights but slept through fine so didn't even bother trying last night and he went until 7.10am. He still woke at 10.30pm (out of habit than need) but settled very quickly again.

Shimmer - what about family? Have you got someone that could have F overnight so you can have a proper lay in?? I think the problem with men is that we think they should realise that it would be nice for them to offer to lay in/feed LO/change nappy (delete as appropriate) but they don't. It is so frustrating having to state the obvious all the bloody time!!!

MrsC - interesting what you said about computers late at night. I always use mine until I go to bed and then my mind races for about an hour - usual time it takes me to settle.

TheChamberofCarrots · 16/07/2007 10:28

computers, tv's are all artificial light, flashing, though you're not really aware of it. It stimulates the brain.

It's the speed of it I would imagine, as people have always sat around fires before sleeping, but that is a flickering light, much more soporific.

SeverusShimmerus · 16/07/2007 10:30

X-posts Wilkie. Some interesting ideas there. I have suggested GP, but he refuses! Will look out for something herbal though. I spose its not that bad, doesn't have problems every night, so he just thinks he can live with it. Just don'tknow if I can!

JodieG1 · 16/07/2007 10:39

Shimmer - if he refuses GP then sorry but he can't complain about it and should take turns getting up with lo. Totally unfair on you. The first thing he should do is see the gp if it bothers him so much and if he won't then I'd say to him that it can't be that bad.

I'm so envious of all of you with babies that sleep through, Ethan never has and still wakes the same amount of times as he always has, usually 4-5 times a night. He goes down anywhere between 6.30 and 9.30 but if he goes down early then he wakes every hour for a feed, last night he went down at 6.30 but woke at 7.30, 8.30. 9.30 and I went to bed soon after. He was up at 6 too. Usually gets up 5-6am, a couple of times 7.30 but that's rare.

SeverusShimmerus · 16/07/2007 10:45

I will look out for the Bouillon without salt. Thanks!

I saw a mother feeding her LO (looked about 8 months ish to me but could have anything between 6-12 months) chocolate buttons in waitrose the other day! Makes me think I shouldn't wory too much about F having stuff with a little bit of salt or sugar in it.

Well done Pippa!! We went cold turkey on the dreamfeed a couple of months ago now and F was fine. But I thought he would be as he was never hungry in the morning.

1 bottle Wilkie! Wow. F still loves his milk and has 4 or 5 6-7oz a day as well as his 3 meals! He's got quite a little belly on him these days!

pinkcandyFlooPowder · 16/07/2007 10:45

Shimmer- I don't think you are being unreasonable about wanting a lie in!Hope you get one soon!

Rgee- Well done to Pippa

Wilkie- sounds like you're giving him a good range of foods to make up for the milk.

I'm in a really bad mood today. Max is WHINGY with teething (well it better be teething!) In our local paper this week there is a woman who has just given birth to a little girl with 7 teeth She was born with 12 herself but had to have them removed quite young.

Please be thinking of me this evening. We're going for dinner at dp's brothers house who also lives with Alex's biological father and his wife so it could be interesting!
Making the effort as dps brother is getting married in a few weeks.

TheChamberofCarrots · 16/07/2007 10:49

can you start putting him down awake, Jodie, not to cry but to get him used to dozing off on his own a bit? F sometimes wakes 2 or 3 times after being put down but mostly sleeps till I go to bed. He probably goes to sleep by himself half of the time, grizzles or grunts ino the cot bumper but if he falls asleep while feeding I don't bother to wake him.

Shimmer - there's the answer I think, he can't expect you to accomodate an affliction that he won't get any help for You need to put your foot down.

WilkiesWizardWheezes · 16/07/2007 11:04

Shimmer - I have to admit I have given J a couple of white chocolate buttons and he loves them!!!!

(Found out my father had given him a small chunk of Yorkie the other day My dad loves to push to boundaries bless him). TBH - I'm not too worried about the food police that are on MN. A little treat every now and again doesn't do them any harm. I think if you treat all 'sweet' foods as bad they grow up with a disorted view of food. That is just my opinion though.

(And it is 'milky bar' so helps his dairy intake )

WilkiesWizardWheezes · 16/07/2007 11:05

Jodie - have you tried him in a cot?? You may be waking him inadvertantly maybe?? J doesn't sleep well if he is in the same room as me when in a travel cot as I think my stirring wakes him.

TheChamberofCarrots · 16/07/2007 11:10

Buttons????

TheChamberofCarrots · 16/07/2007 11:12

only joking, I am one of these terribly selfish people who despite having VERY set ideas about her own choices doesn't really care very much what other people feed their children, unlike half of mnet it seems who are extraordinarily concerned with it.

WilkiesWizardWheezes · 16/07/2007 11:16
Grin
WilkiesWizardWheezes · 16/07/2007 11:17

Thought I might try him with a Fruit Shoot this afternoon!!!!!

PMSL - obviously I am joking!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

TheChamberofCarrots · 16/07/2007 11:33

no no, you are a REFORMED aspartime addict..

'My name is Wilkie and I am an ex squash drinker'

eandh · 16/07/2007 13:27

Please please dont chat so much on my working days (am secretly reading the huge amounts of posts whilst simoultansly (sp) shuffling new account applications that are on my desk)

Rgee yes conservatory is currently the playroom it is quite big (14ftx11ft) so would make a lovely big dining room but also like the fact I can draw the curtains in the dining room and not see plastic toys

I will confess that Hattie has had buttons (although not always when I was there I have caught Ellie sharing hers with Hattie and had to explain that although its lovely to share we shouldnt give Hattie anything to eat if me or daddy arent there!) Shes also had a few little licks of ice cream and yesterday lunged for a roast potato that was on grandads plate (he managed to rescue it from her)

Shimmer I know that feeling so well DH gets up 5 or 6 days a week at 4.30am for work so I do feel that he deserves a lay in, however, I get resentful especially as most mornings he manages to wake one of the girls whilst he is getting ready for work (like today I have been up since 4.45 with Hattie and Ellie slept till 7am although that is rare and shes normally up at 6-6.30) about every 2 months I'll get a lay in but normally I can hear Ellie asking for me or he forgets to shut stairt gate so she comes up to find me

Wilkie - you think girls sit and play nicely - you need to come to my house when Ellie has her little girl mates to play they spend the whole time squabbling/arguing and certainly never sit still unless dvd on.

Just had my lunch and done lots of birthday present shopping (have 4 birthdays in july/august) eaten a yummy tuna/sweetcorn sandwich on chunky granary bread mmmmmm yummy

Lizzzombie · 16/07/2007 13:41

hello, hello, hello!
I have a problem! Interveiw at Primarni later this afternoon, and none of my smartish clothes seem to fit me properly. Oops. Do you reckon I can go smart/casual?!
Also, I have got 2 people on facebook as pending friend requests, but I am not sure who they are. Could be from this thread. Is there a Hayley here and a Rebecca who wrote something about Boris? I am so confused! It would be much easier if I knew who everyones name was!
Can't believe other babies are crawling and eating proper solid food on this thread. DJ is still 'moving' in circles, and will NOT eat anything other than plain baby rice or milk. And I have developed an addiction to pureed carrott - its lush!

JodieG1 · 16/07/2007 13:58

MrsC - have tried but the second we walk away he screams lol, so we pick him up again. I don't mind really as it's a short time relatively that
I have to put up with it.

Wilkie - nope we co-sleep so no cot and couldn't bear him away from me just yet. I think it's just his personality as Morgan was totally different,
he would be put down awake and just fall asleep and I'm sure he was sleeping better at this age. It's not even me disturbing him as he wakes lots
before I go to bed.

Have to go Ethan crying

JodieG1 · 16/07/2007 14:16

Has anyone else seen this thread www.mumsnet.com/Talk?rn=28043&topicid=2409&threadid=356985&redir=28043 {shock]

BellaTrixyLestrange · 16/07/2007 15:59

I have read that thread Jodie. I think she's either not serious and trying to stir things up or she is really not dealing very well with the birth, which is very sad if that's the case.

WilkiesWizardWheezes · 16/07/2007 16:48

Piss take. Silly cow. Paybe she could send a postcard to the SCBU until whilst she is away letting all the mothers with their sick babies know what a fantastic time she is having.

F*ck me I am not a judgemental person but I am
