Yay @Celebelly that's great news! So pleased she's put on some weight.

@Yakadee can't believe you are driving and going to soft play! You're a superstar! I feel like I could drive but not sure I could lift the car seat with the baby in if and twist it to fit into the car. Hopefully next week for me!

Wames90 · 20/02/2019 18:50

@notquiteagandt is your midwife still checking your blood pressure? I had headaches after delivery and ended up with post natal pre eclampsia and had raised blood pressure so was started on medications and they went away instantly. I’m sure it’s just from sleep deprivation but might be worth mentioning it.
Congratulations @alicejj8x she’s beautiful!

Yakadee · 20/02/2019 19:41

@maxiflump1 - I know, I'm amazed at how well it's going. Just need to get to 6 weeks now to get rid of those horrible socks! X

Pinkypieohmy · 20/02/2019 19:53

Oh dear I haven’t wore my socks after a week!
I confess I actually lost them!
Yes yakadee you are a star!
Celebelly pleased she has put weight on it’s such a worry when feeding isn’t going to plan Smile

maxiflump1 · 20/02/2019 20:02

@Yakadee I was only told to wear my socks for 10 days and I'm a Hugh DVT risk. Crazy how different advice is between areas!

Ds is nearly 3 weeks old now and I'm still bleeding a bit. Not sure what is normal after an elective c section. Seems to be a bit heavier in days where I'm active and walking a lot.

Celebelly · 20/02/2019 20:06

I was told to wear socks for whole time but I took them off to wash when I got home and, er, haven't worn them since Blush

Yakadee · 20/02/2019 20:06

Thankfully only have to wear them at night but I hate them. Sick of getting my flipping toes stuck!! Haha x

Cloud9889 · 20/02/2019 20:15

They told me to wear the socks for 6 weeks - I lasted about 7 days altho I’m Mobile’s hoping that helps.
Whoever said about bum/coxsic/lower back pain - I had that so bad after my emergency section (2.5 weeks ago) but I think as I’m more mobile now it is fading and I don’t get it unless I’ve been sat for ages.
I’m wondering about driving as I’m really worried about walking on the school run and not being able to get out and about as I am used to driving lots of places like play groups with my 3 year old.

Since2016 · 20/02/2019 20:18

Ahh fab work on the weight gain ladies and congrats on the new arrivals!

I stopped wearing the socks in hospital... naughty! Couldn’t be dealing with them and I’ve finished my injections now too.

I’m planning on a trip into town - tube and bus tomorrow with both as DH back to work and I can’t face being stuck in the house! Feeling pretty much myself although get the occasional twinge.

Will confirm with insurers they’re happy with me driving by the end of the week as both DDs have hospital appts next week which will require me driving!

We have serious wind issues here. Despite being EBF! 😡😡 haven’t done a bottle today or yesterday to see if that improves things.... gah it’s exhausting!

Cloud9889 · 20/02/2019 20:18

Oh also my bleeding had all stopped up until last night where I started bleeding again - I got scared but I think it’s maybe due to walking a lot yesterday. It’s not as bad today but I’ve really tried not to do much but Walking. I hate not being able to get about - I have a 5 year old and 3 year old too so staying in all day is not really an option.
Also... whoever said sleep when the baby sleeps obviously only had one kid!!

Since2016 · 20/02/2019 20:19

Bleeding wise mine is like a v light period - a bit more bleeding while feeding though. DD is two weeks tomorrow.

Cloud9889 · 20/02/2019 20:20

I don’t seem to get twinges in my scar but above it it is where I get them / still feels bruised, I would love to start driving again but I don’t really feel up to it. Maybe after another week as not being able to get out and about and run errands is hard. I am usually the one who does most of th driving in our house so not used to being driven around and think I actually prefer driving to being passenger especially when my husband is driving!

Cloud9889 · 20/02/2019 20:24

HOw are those with older children and who are still recovering planning on handling the school run. I had c section 2.5 weeks ago and I’m dreading th school run next week. I have a double buggy but DS2 who is 3 is prone to bombing off whilst walking to school and I can’t chase him. DS1 who is 5 Is better

Pinkypieohmy · 20/02/2019 20:32

Cloud I think I will have to put reigns on my three year old on the nursery run next week.
He will hate it but I can’t trust him not to run and it is a busy area and I don’t anticipate being fast enough to catch him. Needs must I’m afraid.
Yes I get the aches just above scar and it does seem swollen as well as numb.

Since2016 · 20/02/2019 21:32

Sling and buggy for DD - 3 for nursery run next week, she only does two days. I would usually drive but tbh it’s more hassle with two.

bethandfreyaruby · 21/02/2019 02:12

@alicejj8x congratulations, she's beautiful!

Finding tonight quite hard. Still co-sleeping with DD2 and finding it a struggle after emcs. DS is now 11 days old, and isn't taking more then 1oz at a time, so wake up are every 45 minutes or so. Last night he took 3OZ and slept for 2 and a half hours so hoping that will be the case later on in the evening!
If anyone's got any advice in moving co-sleeping DD into her own room, I would appreciate it!

Leafy2018 · 21/02/2019 06:53

@Cloud9889 that was me talking about lower back pain. Glad yours is fading. Mine is fairly grim at times. Hoping it fades too! If only I had more time to soak in the bath... Hmm

powkin · 21/02/2019 08:00

Feeling mobile during the day after EMCS but find it much hard at night after a few hours sleep to get moving and to get up from totally flat. The site itself is quite sore still though, the midwife said it looks a bit manky so gave me instructions on how to care for it better to avoid infection. I got absolutely no advice in the hospital about looking after it so other than showering every 2 days and drying it carefully I was trying to leave it alone... clearly not the right approach! She used the word ‘overhang’ when describing the problem Blush

Erin is 2 weeks old today, she was weighed yesterday and hasn’t regained her birth weight yet but she has put on weight since last week which is a relief. Although I’m still trying with combination feeding we are essentially formula feeding as I produce so little, it’s really hard to know what to give her, she can seem super hungry but then count up a load so constantly worried about over/under feeding her. DH always thinks she’s hungry but I sometimes wonder if she’s just uncomfortable.

No idea how those who have partners going back to work are managing. Mine is freelance and so is taking more time off but works from home anyway, I have so little confidence in looking after her on my own. He has a haircut booked which involves him being out for probably 3 hours and I’m even nervous about that. DH has done a lot of the lifting so maybe I feel I’m doing better than I am post surgery. Need to start practicing with the sling so I can get more stuff done. We’ve got things down quite well as a team but on my own I think I’d fall apart.

Cloud9889 · 21/02/2019 08:34

Reigns / buggy sound good for getting to school but my son (3) often screams and hates buggy and would probably be the same with reigns hmm hopefully I recover a bit more over the next few days or my 3 year old miraculously decides to play ball on Monday...

Cloud9889 · 21/02/2019 08:36

Cannot understand why some celebrities opt for c section over a standard birth but then maybe if I could afford to be waited on hand and foot I might be more likely to consider it / my horrible vaginal births beat this c section recovery any day

Notquiteagandt · 21/02/2019 08:47

I dont understand how meant to rest post csection. Being by myself means I have no choice but to take baby out and about and get on with everything. Theres so much that needs doing.

Nipped into town yesterday on the bus to registed her birth and grab some shopping. Fairly easy task. But suffering today. Feel sore.

The thought that we are only just under 3 weeks in. 3 weeks left until can drive again and hopefully things get easier. 🤞🏻

Honnestly think driving would be less strain then carting a big pram on a bus.

Velcro baby last night who squeled everytime I put her down. Reflux is a bitch!!

Anyone else got a refluxy baby? Any one any magic tips other than the keep up the meds/keep her upright/massage her belly etc. Its breaking my heart to see her in pain.

Notquiteagandt · 21/02/2019 08:50

@Cloud9889 I barely bled in the first week. Only in the 2nd wk I started. With it getting heavier since got home.

Dr said totally normal its just law of gravity. More u do and more upright you are. Said its common to start to bleed again or heavier.

I mentioned it in an off hand comment whilst seeing her for something else. She reassured me loads though.

maxiflump1 · 21/02/2019 08:51

@Cloud9889 I'm recovering from an elective c section (second DC) and would choose one again in a heartbeat! I had a horrendous labour and third degree tear with my first and the recovery was horrific. Recovery this time is so much easier. If I were to have another baby I'd definitely go for a section. Maybe recovery from an emergency c section if different...?

Since2016 · 21/02/2019 09:44

I honestly think it depends. For those struggling still please ask the GP for stronger meds.

DH back at work today! Wind is driving me mad - we’re usibg infacol but she’s v hard to wind.

@powkin it honestly does get easier and you will get more confident. I was super anxious about managing with two but tbh it’s fine. Would definitely recommend the sling though - I’ve not used the pram yet and suspect I won’t for a good while.
