So Anna lost 12% when she was first weighed. After formula top ups she gained a little weight which meant her loss was 8% overall.

Just had the midwife attend and she has lost more weight. Now 9% loss compared with birth! I am a little stressed as thought that she was feeding well from the breast as well as bottle.

Midwife not overly concerned but seeing her again on Thursday for another weigh in 😢!!

Would just like to see her on a positive trend xx

Pinkypieohmy · 19/02/2019 20:55

Hi I’m wondering if I can join this thread.
I have ds2 born 2.5 weeks ago via c section.
Currently breastfeeding - lots of cluster feeding and in considerable discomfort!! He is putting on weight after an 8% loss.
Solidarity to you all newborn days are tough.
How are c section mums getting on? I’m wondering when I will feel normal and stronger again. I’m still getting twinges and aches if I do too much. Dh back to work today and I have a three year old so it been hard to take it easy today.

Yakadee · 19/02/2019 21:03

@Pinkypieohmy - my girl was born 29/01 via planned section, my hubby went back today too and I have a nearly 3yo son! (We're like twins! Ha).

I have to say I'm recovering really well from the section, a million Xs better than my labour with my first!

I'll be honest, we've spent a lot of time watching TV today which has helped as I haven't needed to be on the go all the time (although still very busy!). Try get an early night xx

bethandfreyaruby · 19/02/2019 21:47

Pinky pie- I had a emcs on 10th feb, so I'm just over the week mark! Slowly building myself back up again, but I am aching quite a bit still. And quite sore! It's hard work isn't it, I have a 2YO as well so feel for you!!
We will get there, wishing you the best recovery fast!! Thanks

Pinkypieohmy · 19/02/2019 21:47

Hi yakadee ah it’s good to speak to someone in the same boat.
I also had c section after a bad vb.
the recovery is preferable this time.
I just wonder what I am supposed to be doing in terms of should I be pushing pram yet? Bending over I’m getting twinges in scar. I’m not sure what’s normal and what’s not it’s

Pinkypieohmy · 19/02/2019 21:48

Posted too soon - it’s hard to know what I should be doing in terms of household stuff. I’m the sort that likes jobs done and it pains me to see things that need doing and leave them!!

Celebelly · 19/02/2019 22:15

I'm 10 days post section and pretty much back to normal, but I've been quite lucky I think. Still a bit twingy around scar but mobility fine, can push pram fine, get down on floor with baby, etc. I've been pleasantly surprised really. Avoiding carrying anything too heavy and hoovering (could probably do this but I'm happy not doing so Grin) but other than that I'm doing everything I was before I think, just some things a little more cautiously.

I think if you do too much you'll know about it. I did a bit much first day home and was in a bit of pain as a result, but I'm just letting my body guide me now and if I feel fine then I'm just going with it.

I had DD via ELCS on 7th Feb. I went back to the GP last weds and got cocodomal as I wasn’t managing the pain. DD is 12 days old today and I’m off pain killers and feeling pretty much normal now finally! Just listen to your body and don’t go mad. I’m out and about, using the sling and although not picking up my DD3 I’m more or less able to do most things.

DH is back at work on Thursday so I’m having to cope!! Can now easily do dishwasher, washing, walk the dog etc. But everyone is different. If you’re having trouble
Mobilising then you may need stronger pain meds - I’m so glad I got the cocodamol - it’s helped massively.

Leafy2018 · 19/02/2019 23:32

Has anyone else got a sore coccyx/very base of back since giving birth? I feel as though I've been sat down for far too long if that makes sense! It's starting to get me down a bit. This coupled with a sore actual bottom (piled) is really annoying.

Notquiteagandt · 20/02/2019 01:54

My little girl was born via emergancy section 19 days ago. I was cut vertically internally and horizontally on the outside.

I was forced to rest the 2 weeks after as I was in hospital. But since coming home I certainly have noticed when I have done too much walking or pushing the pram. As well as just a total lack of core strength. I just feel so so weak. Anyone else? I feel almost numb.

I feel my internal stitches pulling if I do too much.

The surgeon confessed though I had been stitched up too tight which probally hasnt helped though. I have a weird lump.

They saved mine and my babys life though so shant complain.

The recovery hasnt been as bad as I exspected. More just about listening to my body.

The bruising from being thrown on the operating table was just as painful tbh.

Notquiteagandt · 20/02/2019 01:56

I had several physio sessions in hospital though which helped. Was this offered to others? As id reccomend it as it really helped tbh.

detachablehoof · 20/02/2019 07:02

@LittleD0t Waslast night any better for you? We managed to get our little girl to do 3x almost 2-hour stretches in her crib which feels like a HUGE step forward!

What we did differently : putting her in a tight swaddle and using a white noise machine (sound activated! Worked so well!) we bought yesterday, and using a wheat bag to warm her crib mattress and blanket before putting her down.

Such a relief to get some sleep.

Yakadee · 20/02/2019 07:10

Another one here who's been pleasantl surprised with my recovery. Baby is 3 weeks old now and I haven't needed painkillers in weeks. Back doing normal stuff but just taking it easy with lifting etc.

Going to a playgym today with both of my kids on my own! 😱 I've deliberately picked one all on one level so don't have to follow my son everywhere - wish me luck!!! X

We had our lactation consultant visit yesterday, which was really good. She’s instantly noticed Emma has a posterior tongue tie, but also that she has an incredibly tight jaw and physically cannot open wide enough to latch on properly right now. We did manage to get her on and feeding for 30 mins but because it’s such a shallow latch, I got a blister on my nipple.

We’ve been referred to a chiropractor who specialises in working with babies as she thinks he might be able to help loosen up her jaw, but she says we are doing all the right things - Emma just isn’t physically able to feed properly yet. So I feel relieved that it wasn’t just me, but also sad that it isn’t just a quick fix.

We have some exercises to do around training her gag reflex (at the moment she gags when something is in her mouth and not that far back, so we need to get her used to that) and also feeding by syringe while we have a finger in her mouth that she’s sucking, so she gets some practice.

Congratulations Alice she is beautiful Flowers
Yakadee you are braver than me!
Has the doctor signed you off to drive or have you managed on foot/public transport? I’m in awe.
It’s been ceebeebies and chocolate Buttons for my eldest today until grandma pops by later and takes him up to the park.
Don’t you have some aches in your incision area? That’s what mine is like it doesn’t seem like enough to need regular painkillers but I can most definitely feel it when moving/bending/stretching for things and it makes me nervous thinking my insides are straining!
I don’t know if it’s more psychological than anything else!

Yakadee · 20/02/2019 14:35

@Pinkypieohmy - I've been driving. I totally feel up to it. I checked with my car insurance and they said as long as I feel fit that are happy for me to drive. They said I didn't need sign off from gp or anything. I asked my hv last week and she said it was up to me.

My scar itself feels fine, healing really well. I haven't felt pain for ages now and haven't taken painkillers for weeks. My stomach is a little tender but I'd say it's noticeable at worst, not even a bit painful thankfully. I'm still not over doing it, let hubby do the heavy lifting when he's around etc x

LittleD0t · 20/02/2019 15:51

@detachablehoof ahh I'm so glad you managed some sleep last night.

I've taken some of your advice and been using a hot water bottle to warm the crib before putting her in it today. It seems to be working and she settles in there. Will try it tonight and hopefully get some good sleep (I'll be happy with a couple of hours!)

I hope you continue to have some success with it too.

Yakadee · 20/02/2019 16:07

@LittleD0t - I missed that comment but we do that too and it seems to really work x
