Absolutely nothing wrong with you. I cried the first time I left dd and was glued to my phone waiting for replies to the 'how is she' messages. I also cried when I left her with my parents for the night at 16 months because I had a wedding to go to. Be prepared for many, many more tears. Dd said to me for the first time on the weekend "I love you too". Cue floods of tears from me and "what's the matter?" from dd.

Fab work with the rolling! That's amazing at nine weeks.

Celebelly · 09/04/2019 10:08

Aww. I'm off to a conference for two nights in September and dreading leaving her!

@Notquiteagandt - impressive rolling skills!

I agree with @lanalawr - lots more tears to come unfortunately. There's also a lot of happy ones too x

bubblybrit · 09/04/2019 12:00

@Celebelly. Thanks. Think I’ll look into it to see if it helps settle her!

Lookingforadvice123 · 09/04/2019 12:35

What nappies are the best please? We are having massive wee leaking problems, size 2 Pampers 12 hours dry last about 4-5 hours max at night but I would rather not have to change him in the night at all if he hasn't poo'ed! I can't remember having this issue with DS1...

NotAsGreenAsCabbageLooking · 09/04/2019 14:12

We use Asda or Tesco... however, I like to change in the night. I think that if you let a baby get accustomed to being in a wet nappy then it’s harder to potty train when that time comes.

Yakadee · 09/04/2019 14:57

We tried Morrisons but Emma got really sore. Not sure if it was a coincidence or what (as they're fine on my son but he's older) but we've switched back to pampers (I only swapped because of the price).

I haven't had any leakage issues but I also change her in the night x

Notquiteagandt · 09/04/2019 17:13

Thanks ladies 😊 feel alot better now. We had a lovely day together instead. A music class, lots of cuddles and a long walk in the sun.

We use aldi nappies. We did use kit and kin but didnt get on with them, they leaked and I found out our local council burn alot of rubbish so they wouldnt biodegrade anyways. We originally used pampers as needed size 0. I didnt like them. Smelled a bit chemically. Cant explain it just a strange smell to them. Friend reccomended aldi and not looked back. Worth the drive for us to stock up.

powkin · 09/04/2019 17:31

Are you on size three yet @Notquiteagandt ? I’d heard Aldi from size 3 are shit now, we’re almost grown out of size 2 so so seeing if I need to find a new brand

Yakadee · 09/04/2019 17:34

We've been on size 3 for a couple of weeks x

Notquiteagandt · 09/04/2019 17:53

Oh no sorry @powkin we have just gone into size 1. Thanks for heads up though. Worth baring in mind for future.

maxiflump1 · 09/04/2019 19:38

We are in aldi size 3 and they are fine. Much less leakage than pampers (and much cheaper!)

powkin · 09/04/2019 19:55

Phew. Thanks all! Pampers are shit we are trying them at the moment,

mummymummymummummum · 09/04/2019 22:02

@NotAsGreenAsCabbageLooking Actually allowing baby to feel wet aids potty training! They learn that weeing = wet. Babies that use cloth nappies tend to potty train earlier than ones that use disposables for this reason.

lanalawr · 09/04/2019 22:58

I've used size 5 Aldi recently and they don't seem any different to before. Using size 1 pampers on ds at the moment. We rarely change at night and haven't had any leaks.

sunday38 · 10/04/2019 03:57

notquite amazing rolling skills! DS1 started rolling aged 4 months then forgot how to do it and so didn't consistently roll until 7 months!

Looking we use sainsbury's or Aldi nappies, always found both great for DS1 although aldi's seem to have got thinner recently. Could try going up a size at night instead. Unfortunately boys tend to leak more as they pee all at the front.

Been to the doctor today as my CS scar has opened up a tiny bit in one place. It'd healed really well and neatly so I wasn't expecting any trouble with it at 8 weeks postpartum. Luckily DH noticed it looked a bit red because I'd stopped checking it, so keep an eye on those scars still.

babyp160 · 10/04/2019 04:29

Size 3 aldi here too and are fine!

DeliberatelyGinger · 10/04/2019 04:51

@sunday38 What?!! Oh no! I'll have to get DH to check mine in the morning as I still can't see it well

Since2016 · 10/04/2019 08:35

Good to know re nappies. Almost out of size 2 pampers now so going to make the switch to Aldi again. Used them from size 3 with DD1 with no issues.

We’ve been having really good nights - settling from 9/10 - 2/3. But the last two nights - fighting sleep and not settling then up every hour or two. Last night first wake was 12! Gah. Hope it’s a short lived phase i was quite enjoying the longer blocks of sleep!

Lookingforadvice123 · 10/04/2019 08:59

Thanks all for the nappy recommendations! I don't have any issues with DS2 being in a wet nappy, it's the fact that it's leaking through to his clothes/sleeping bag in the night. Really annoying so going to buy a sample of other types and sizes.

And I don't know about potty training, I was very lazy with DS1's nappies and as he was sleeping for a long time at night early on he was definitely in wet nappies a lot. He was very easy to potty train! Dry on day 3 at 2.7 and I could count on one hand the number of accidents he's had since.

Yakadee · 10/04/2019 09:41

@Lookingforadvice123 - that's really good. My son was 3 last month and no signs of potty training really x

Yakadee · 10/04/2019 11:54

I've got flipping tonsillitis! I don't even have tonsils!

No wonder I've been feeling terrible! Could defo do without this! X

bubblybrit · 10/04/2019 12:14

Can I ask you ladies how you know when to move from size 1 to size 2 nappies? Is it when baby reaches a certain weight (I’m a bit confused as sizes seem to overlap with pampers!?!) or do you judge it purely based upon leakage? Sorry if it’s a stupid question but I don’t have any size 2 nappies so not sure how much bigger they are compared with size 1!

Lookingforadvice123 · 10/04/2019 13:46

Oh no yakadee! Have you seen the doctor?

Yeah he was surprisingly easy to potty train, we were very lucky! Didn't put any pressure on it as I know plenty of people who've waited till 3 but he took to it easily so it was worth doing when we did as it means only one lot of nappies to change now Smile

Yakadee · 10/04/2019 20:00

@Lookingforadvice123 - yes, I've been given antibiotics. Used to get it really bad when I was a kid (was hospitalised a few times) which lead to me having them removed - who knew you could still get it?

I'm looking forward to getting my son potty trained but he's just not ready. He does have a potty and sits on it, but he's yet to actually do anything on there.

@bubblybrit - I just thought that they were getting a bit tight on Emma. I did find with my son they could leak. X
