I think it's just the luck of the draw (like vaginal births too). I was an emergency section and honestly have been surprised by how quick I've recovered. I'm 11 days or so post section and back to normal really. But some people have terrible vaginal births with long recovery and same with sections I guess. I've been very fortunate though- i was terrified of having a section but actually it was nowhere near as bad as I thought it would be (and a small part of me is glad I didn't have to risk any injuries downstairs as I was really frightened of bad tears and birth injuries with long-term consequences). I would have one again (I'd skip the emergency bit though!)

@Cloud9889 - sounds crazy but I have recovered so much better this time with a section than with my first 'natural' labour (didn't feel it ha!). Honestly, I'm amazed! I had so many complications last time it's unreal how much better and happier I feel. My mum said she just can't believe how much better I look.

Maybe I'm lucky but it's the best decision I ever made.

I'm still bleeding a little but not much, just down to a liner or light pad now.

We tried out the sling for first time yesterday and Emma loved it! She fell asleep straight away and it was super handy for getting stuff done.

We are off to the chiropractor today to see if anything can be done about her tight jaw and feeding problems. Fingers crossed!

@Celebelly - hope it goes well x

Notquiteagandt · 21/02/2019 10:07

@Celebelly good luck Emma! Hope they sort you out!

I have tried the sling around the house. But now baby M is over 6lbs I feel more comfortable. Hoping to venture out for a walk with it today. Such beautiful weather today. Give her some vitamin d to help the last of the jaundice.

I really need to remember that when home 90% of the time my boobs are out. The poor parcel courrier knocking on the door just got an eyeful 🤣🙈

Since2016 · 21/02/2019 10:24

Hmm juggling two is going well. Was aiming to leave the house by ten. Currently one of us is dressed, I have a baby attached to my boob and realised I can’t get into my tights drawer because of where the next to me crib is 😂

Since2016 · 21/02/2019 11:56

And still not left the house. Nearly lost my shit already as both of them were crying.... DD has decided she doesn’t want to be put down at all which is fun...

And now feeding again 😂

Yakadee · 21/02/2019 13:12

@Since2016 - flipping hard isn't it! X

Celebelly · 21/02/2019 13:15

@Since2016 Bless you. All you ladies juggling two or more are superstars! Feels like just one has us both running ragged!

Since I feel your pain.
Ds has been hard work today he’s bored as I’m normally at park/toddler group/soft play or swimming.
He’s fed up of watching me breastfeed and doesn’t understand why I cant pick him up or play fight with him.
We have tried explaining mummy’s tummy is sore but he seems to forget and tries to jump on me!
I agree with comment that whoever said sleep when baby sleeps only had one child!!!!

powkin · 21/02/2019 22:26

@Notquiteagandt pretty sure my FIL saw my tits whilst I was finishing up expressing on Tuesday. Not what I wanted!

powkin · 21/02/2019 22:33

@Since2016 we are also using infacol but it doesn’t seem to make much difference. She just vommed on my pregnancy pillow Angry and sounds like a weird gremlin all the time.

Yakadee · 22/02/2019 03:25

@powkin 🤦‍♀️

Since2016 · 22/02/2019 05:38

Survived day one. Including a trip into central London. However I think I overdid it a little... plus DD3 now ill. Quiet day today.

Oh and bloody wind 🤬

maxiflump1 · 22/02/2019 06:58

@Since2016 I'm with you on the wind! Been awake since 3am with a very windy grumpy baby. Horrible to see him so uncomfortable 🥵

Susannach · 22/02/2019 07:13

Checking in on this thread Smile

Beautiful baby girl A arrived in a rush at 10pm yesterday in the delivery unit reception, weighing 8lb exactly. All went amazingly smoothly — we were home by 2.30 this morning! We do have to go back to hospital later today for her newborn checks, but so far so good. Her big sister (3.5) even got to come and have a quick peek in the middle of the night.

She’s taken to BF really well but I’m getting a lot of sharp pain on one side only, plus the classic “lipstick” shaped nipple when she comes off on that side. I know this is a latch issue, but I’m finding it really hard to rectify and it seems strange as she’s absolutely fine on the other side! Anyone else have a good side/bad side situation and what are you doing about it?

maxiflump1 · 22/02/2019 07:37

Congratulations @Susannach. Sounds like a super fast labour! How nice to be able to go home so quickly as well!

Susannach · 22/02/2019 08:50

I know, I feel extremely lucky! Thank you all for the good wishes.

Since2016 · 22/02/2019 12:20

Congrats @susannach ! Sounds amazing!

DD has taken a distinct preference to left over right for no discernable reason I can fathom other than I think my let down is slower on the right side. Little minx.

My mum has just taken both DDs to the park. So grateful. I am going to have a long shower. Alone. And a coffee. And listen to Spotify.

May have overdone it yesterday... 🤭

detachablehoof · 22/02/2019 12:42

Anyone else had horrible after pains? I'd not had them much at all (or maybe they were masked by painkillers I took for my stitches) but today (a week since she was born) it almost feels like contractions again. Have taken painkillers and am lying down with a wheat bag.

Susannach · 22/02/2019 18:11

detachablehoof Me too! They’re supposed to get worse with each baby, unfortunately. I was getting the labour shakes last night while feeding A they were so bad! What number DC is this for you? I had them badly with DC2 but they didn’t last beyond a week, so hopefully you’re nearly out the other side!

Celebelly · 22/02/2019 18:14

I got them while feeding her for the first week or so. They've stopped now thankfully! Not pleasant!

Yakadee · 22/02/2019 20:53

Congratulations @Susannach!

We've put an offer in on a house today - think we must be crazy!!! (It hasn't been accepted yet though) x

detachablehoof · 22/02/2019 21:30

@Susannach first baby! Took me by surprise - not really heard of them before. They seem to have calmed down now.

AmberRose17 · 22/02/2019 22:42

Is anyone else mixed feeding? How’s it going? We have been from birth due to really traumatic first experience with BF (weight loss, A&E visits, tongue tie revision etc, ending up with bottle feeding expressed and formula for four months) and it seemed to be going well if a little slowly - and noticeably better than with big bro. But earlier in the week baby O started to struggle with his latch, fussing on the boob and refusing about 50% of times. I went to a BF cafe and turns out he also has a posterior tongue tie. Sigh.

It’s such hard work. Feeds taking ages, only happy after bottle etc. I have a Lactation consultant coming tomorrow eve but it’s really hard not to get very down again and want to give him a big bottle instead of fussy unproductive breastfeeds.
