I now have tea.

Pesha · 27/06/2007 11:03

Morning all

Dippy am happy to wait for mine too if needs be.

Maveta - I dont think he has tongue tie. I can see his whatdyamacallit (I want to say frenulum - is that right?!) at the tip of his tongue, he does have ever such a slight dip in the tip but its just a line underneath his tongue going straight down to the base, doesnt extend at all iykwim which is what i understand tongue tie to be. But please correct me if I'm wrong - would be a relief to find something specifically wrong so that we could set about correcting it! But then flip side of that is that I'm bit catious of looking for things which aren't actually there.

Has taken me ages to write this as been watching woman drinking pee on tv!! So sorry if i've x posted with everyone!

CaptainDippy · 27/06/2007 11:05

Good Luck with the shower - I always used to stick DD1 in her bouncy chair and plop her on the bathroom floor where she could see me - Obviously she was mesmerised into silence by my lean & graceful body floating around the shower.

Just be ruthless - let him to scream - you need to wash (I can smell you from here...........)

Drinking pee!!!!!!!? What the heck channel are you watching!!!!!?

Frenulum (or whatever you said) is correct - well done, most impressed!! I think there's varying severities (now I definitely made that word up....) of Tongue Tie - depending on how attached the tongue is, iykwim!!? D could just have a weak suck or your milk supply could be depleating - or he could just be a small baby!! Don't worry too much hon. I had mild tongue tie as a baby, no one intervened, so I still have it - Doesn't affect me much, just means I can't poke my tongue out v.far. DH laughs at me!

Promise to try and read all the threads later.

The Good Stuff-
W now sleeps in his crib, and not on me - yay! And, he is asleep by 9 (at the latest)only waking once in the night (usually at 2.30) for a feed, which lasts for about 10mins, and goes straight back done til 6/7ish. Result! (think the swaddling blanket might have had something to do with it)
With the help of my mum, W will now take from a bottle. Did a "cold turkey" session last week. I took J out, left W with mum and ebm, and he took 4oz. The best bit was, there was no real stress on either side. Means that dh has been doing more night shifts on the weekend.

The Bad Stuff-
Fil was very badly beaten up on Saturday night on his way from his local 2 men jumped him on the way home, and beat him to a pulp. The pub is in the middle of a residential area, so someone must've heard what was happening and thankfully called the police. The police went back to the pub (after they took fil to hospital) to ask if anyone knew anything, and one of the blokes actually admitted there and then Apparently he has just taken a dislike to my fil (fil can be v sarcastic, but not nasty) and decided to do something about it. Crime is unheard of in the area they live, so its shocked a lot of the residents, esp as fil is well known, and pretty well liked.
BUT - the worse part, is that fil dad got attacked when he was in his 60s, 2 weeks later he died of a brain haemorrage(sp?) which had been caused by the attack. Fil is 61, so dh is really stressed atm.

CaptainDippy · 27/06/2007 11:10

Hi Luce!!

CaptainDippy · 27/06/2007 11:12

Runny - great stuff about W's new sleeping & bottle habits - told you "Cold Turkey" works sometimes!! ; but so about FIL, how completely awful esp considering what happened to your DH's grandad, he must be v.stressed & anxious indeed. Thinking & praying ......

Pesha · 27/06/2007 11:13

They break up on friday?

That means you can take advantage of cheap holidays without having to write ridiculous begging letters to headmistress pleading extenuating circumstances and hinting at imminent death of great grandparents!

Katy44 · 27/06/2007 11:13

pesha
thanks - really enjoying my coffee
Meant to ask if you had considered trying fenugreek if you think the amount is the prob? not sure how wewll it works.
oi dippy no need to get personal (although I do believe you). He hates his bouncy chair when grouchy tho, screams really high pitched
Morrning Luce xx

CaptainDippy · 27/06/2007 11:13

Has FIL had a CAT scan??

CaptainDippy · 27/06/2007 11:15

They break up ealier for the summer in Bonny Scotland, but go back in the middle of August (around the 20th) ..... so don't have too much of a Pesha!!

CaptainDippy · 27/06/2007 11:16

Ah, stick him in front of some really inappropriate TV with a Fruit Shoot & a bag of grapes & leave him to it, Katy.

CaptainDippy · 27/06/2007 11:16

She's still asleep .......

Katy44 · 27/06/2007 11:17

WHAT are you implying Dippy??

Do you think he'd have cheesy wotsits - for calcium yknow

Katy44 · 27/06/2007 11:18

congratulations
how far away do you live? can you come and work your magic on t?

Pesha · 27/06/2007 11:18

Sorry very tactless x post runny. Really sorry about fil, what a terrible thing to happen and understandably very stressful for you all. Thinking of you

Katy44 · 27/06/2007 11:18

Katy44 · 27/06/2007 11:20

sorry runny completely missed your post!
Don't know what to say, except hopefully they're being extra careful because of this
Good to hear about your sleepy nights xx

runnyhabbit · 27/06/2007 11:20

Not sure.

The first that mil knew about it was when fil came home from hospital on Sunday. No-one seemed to know what the hospital had done (if there was any follow up need etc) Fil absolutley hates hospital, so prob discharged himself, or just walked out. But mil was in such a state, that it took dh and sil to get the dr out to prescribe stronger painkillers (she only had ibruprofen)
CAT scan is good idea though, will suggest to dh, esp considering family history.

Police have said it will be going to court, prob August, by time all evidence is gathered. The bloke who admitted it was kept in the cells Sat night, and told to stay away from fil etc..

CaptainDippy · 27/06/2007 11:21

Yes, cheesy wotsits & cheese strings too - just for good measure!! Think I live miiiiiles away from you Katy, so couldn't get there in time for you to have your shower .....

Katy44 · 27/06/2007 11:22

not a doc, but brain haemmorages aren't genetic-type things are they?
Plus 61 now is MUCH younger than 61 for my grandparents iyswim.
Sure this isn't much comfort, thinking of you and ur family xx

CaptainDippy · 27/06/2007 11:23

Sounds like FIL needs to go back to drs or hospital for follow up, despite his fear / hate of hospitals ..... if not for him, for his family ..... Would definitely push for a CAT scan ....

Katy44 · 27/06/2007 11:23

dippy, think you did something remotely as he's snoozy
will letyou know ow i get on
apologies for typing
