A new thread for us all

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Olihan · 02/08/2007 16:46

FGS, ds1 could walk holding on to a trolley thing with bricks in at 7mo but didn't walk independently until he was 13mo, so don't panic!! Dd wouldn't walk holding on to fingers until about 9mo but walked independently at 10mo so it didn't seem to affect how early or otherwise they walked. Ds2 will also pull himself on to his feet from sitting and takes a few steps holding on to my fingers so I don't know who he'll follow. He also attempts to stand up holding on to whatever he can get a grip on, but he tends to topple sideways easily .

Cheers for all the good food ideas, I need to get more into the blw side of things, jars of fruity stuff are costing me a fortune. I tried him on a floret of broccoli yesterday and the look of utter disgust he gave me was priceless! Think he takes after his mummy with his taste in food .

Elibean · 02/08/2007 19:00

Yep, I know that broccoli look. I suspect dd2 would do anything for some Green & Black's, given what I ate when pg, but not sure even the HV would sanction that

Sudden drop in milk intake today, hardly made 500 mls: dd managed three reasonable meals (I think, hard to tell with BLW, so much goes everywhere but in the mouth ). Supper was fusilli with tomato sauce and grated cheese, garlic bread, chunks of steamed squash (played with those) and some very ripe avocado. Then some Peter Rabbit apple puree via nozzle

And the seat is going in dishwasher tomorrow for sure. Why on earth didnt' I think of that? Brilliant, just brilliant.

LFM, enjoy the eggs!

FunkyGlassSlipper · 02/08/2007 19:59

I am clever, aren't I?

I can normally tell how much food is going in by how much is coming out. My Dd2 has approx 4 poos a day.

FunkyGlassSlipper · 02/08/2007 19:59

And Olihan, thanks for the reassurance about the walking. I had true moment of panic earlier.

LowFatPumpkinJuice · 02/08/2007 21:11

Girls please cross you fingers for me - I have a little issue.

Since I last wrote lots on here I have been on a diet - with the help of my GP. Lost quite a lot (about 10lb), felt really good, got new clothes, had hairct etc - reclaimed myself a bit, got some confidence......

Have not had a period now for over 6 weeks. Did a PG test on Saturday which was neg, but coming home on bus tonight my ankles are swollen - they have only ever been swolen before while I was PG (as I have noticed). Going back to GP tomorrow for progress check.

The crux of it all is that DH and I have only had full sex 7 times (I know cos we only have 5 condons left from the box of 12 we bought when DS was born) Although one tipsy night I did get a bit lustful and got carried away for a couple of minutes without, but DH swears he was nowhere near climax, and put on condom before it happened.

Please keep fingers crossed that we are not going to joining the March 2008 antenatale thread.

SachaF · 02/08/2007 21:17

4 poos a day! Ds does one every other day. I know no different so assume this is normal, FGS probably thinks the same
Some good BLW ideas. I've tried pasta but he seems to shred it into 4 bits then spit it out. Mind you he did take some the first time he tried it as he threw up twice that night and there was definately pasta in it. So just goes to show, it's difficult to judge what is going in.
Apples, plums, grapes, courgettes are his favourites. I don't venture far from fruit and veg - still waiting on dieticians appointment. I have now bought apple flavoured rice cakes as he seems not to like the plain ones at all. Felt a bit of a bad mommy buying flavoured stuff but felt better when he chomped on the first one and didn't throw it away in disgust.
Oh he loved yoghurt today! (spoon fed). But it's soya so I won't let him have it too often yet.

SachaF · 02/08/2007 21:19

LFPJ, fingers crossed, the body does strange things 7 months after giving birth!

FunkyGlassSlipper · 02/08/2007 21:49

LFPJ - weight loss can affect periods. Heat can cause puffiness. Don't panic yet. Hopefully you will get the result you want.

We bought a box of 12 after DD was born. Still 10 in it

Yes Sacha - 4 poos is normal for us. I'm always quite worried if it less as assume she is constipated. LOL.

margosbeenplayingwithmynoonoo · 02/08/2007 22:31

DD2 seems to poo every 3-4 days! I have increased her water. She still has 2 b/f a day as well as formula. I still don't understand why she's not more regular.

LFPJ - fingers crossed

margosbeenplayingwithmynoonoo · 02/08/2007 22:36

And well done on your weight loss PJ!

Gloria42 · 02/08/2007 22:39

All the boxes of condoms dr gave me at 6 week check-up are still sealed !!!! We're relying on the withdrawal method which got us through the first 3 years of our relationship . Not that it's happened very often (mojo is not always around), just as well as we were VERY fertile when we tried to be!

weirdbird · 02/08/2007 22:45

I got my Mojo back last night

Have been smiling all day...

SachaF · 03/08/2007 14:48

Think I need to name change before I start posting about Mojo and condoms on here! But, I'm a boring accountant and can't think of anything witty

magnolia1 · 03/08/2007 15:03

LPJ, Went through the same thing last week. My AF (2nd one since ds's birth) was 2 weeks later than it should have been. But it finally arrived. Thank god Fingers crossed for you xxx

Sorry girls been a stranger again. Life with 5 kids is bloody hectic
Ds1 still not sleeping. Gin=ven up on drugging him and going to resort to a light hearted controlled crying in a couple of weeks when we re arrange rooms.

Margo sorry about your sister xxx

4 poo's a day for ds1 too. I honestly think the minute it goes in, it comes out

magnolia1 · 03/08/2007 15:04

at the mojo WB. Mine comes and goes, Dh's never bloody goes anywhere

weirdbird · 03/08/2007 15:30

Magnolia, Where not doing controlled crying, but we are sitting next to the cot and she likes us singing to her (well my singing more than DH's to be honest!) she is learning to settle herself though it is taking 30min a night at the moment, but it is a easier method on ur nerves! and u are still teaching them to fall asleep on there own, the idea is that you get them used to falling asleep without being held, then without u right next to them and eventually you leave the room, its not an overnight solution, but we are finding its working.

We can't do CC as she just makes herself throw up.

MiL has taken the kids so I can work, but am having a quick catch up on hear first I do feel

GodzillasBumcheek · 03/08/2007 22:47

Am i strange? I enjoy cuddling lo to help her settle for sleep. Don't have a specific bedtimr routine, just around 7pm we change her, and put bedclothes on, then we go upstairs and i sing to her for a few mins, then put her in sleeping bag and lay on bed cuddling her until she is either asleep or nearly asleep. It takes 5-30 mins, usually about 10, but am i setting myself up for problems? She still has an 11pm feed, but settles on her own after this and sleeps til morning!

magnolia1 · 03/08/2007 23:13

Probably but so what if it's what you enjoy

weirdbird · 03/08/2007 23:47

Sounds like you have a child that goes to sleep easily, my darling would never sleep at all if she could.

Tried cuddling her asleep but she just crawls off...

If she thinks you are trying to get her to sleep she fights it all the way, I want my evenings backagain tbh.

But no your not strange, if DD was falling asleep as you described I probably wouldn't be doing it.

OP posts:
margosbeenplayingwithmynoonoo · 04/08/2007 18:02

Godzilla - I think I cuddled dd1 to the edge of sleep until she was about 9 months, then I started to put her down and leave her.

I still cuddle dd2 - i don't think she will let me leave her to sleep.

SachaF · 04/08/2007 19:56

Godzilla, I think that sounds fantastic! That IS your bed time routine, and she's sleeping through apart from an 11pm feed - Jealous! I had half an hour of whimpering at 1am and a feed at 6am which was a good night for recently. Sometimes he is awake when he is put into bed, tonight he fell asleep feeding and couldn't be gently roused so I put him to bed already asleep. Works for me, he's a littly so maybe he still does need more milk at night

GodzillasBumcheek · 04/08/2007 21:55

Well, was wondering all day what dire predictions people have come up with - and to not have any is quite a pleasant surprise . Thanks for the vote of confidence!

Dd is not properly crawling yet Weirdbird so i am now wondering if she will start trying to escape when she does (finally) get the knack

jabberwocky · 05/08/2007 03:51

Godzilla, am sooo envious! I do try that with ds2 but he would wake up as soon as I put him down. Dh has taken over bedtime atm as ds2 just seems to sleep better with him.

Ds1 started pre-school this week. It's been a little hectic in the mornings but every day is a bit better and I think overall getting back to just one babe for a few hours in the day is going to be good for everyone. Maybe someday I'll feel caught up on my sleep

Elibean · 05/08/2007 10:36

Ah, Jabber, catch up on sleep? Have a horrible feeling that will never happen! We're about to head off to France for 3 weeks, and some daft part of me still imagines I will get a rest, time to read, dream, sleep....

Though I do think it will be a change, and fun, and relaxing in an exhausting sort of way. And interesting, in a BLW sort of way: am trying to drum up ideas for the journey on the weaning section, dd2 COVERS herself, me, and the room when feeding
