Margo, so sorry to hear about your sister. I don't imagine it can be easy for you. I feel guilty every time my sister miscarries, and wish that i could make it easier for her.

babypowder · 31/07/2007 22:26

I have had such a busy few days, and have suddenly realised that DD2 has been completely neglected We've hosted 2 parties in 4 days (never again), and I've been that busy that I hardly noticed that she hasn't eaten much (although she's been feeding loads). She had a really green poo today, and she's been generally full of cold for a few days. I just feel like the world's worst mum.

I'm going to spend tomorrow giving her all the foods she loves, and loads of cuddles and attention.

jabberwocky · 01/08/2007 04:08

Margo, so sorry to hear about your sister. My niece is pg right now and I think I worry about her almost as much as I did when I was pg. My other niece was pg and due 3 weeks past her and m/c in the first trimester. It was so hard this weekend to watch them together and know the thoughts everyone had but didn't want to say

SachaF · 01/08/2007 12:01

BP, Of course you're not the world's worst mum!
As long as she was getting her milk, then I'm sure her nutrition won't have suffered, she'd have let you know far more if she'd been upset by it! With all the activity going on around her she probably didn't notice she wasn't getting much in the way of solids as the world was just such an entertaining place!
Just read about HIPs (Home info packs) today - luckily my house doesn't qualify as it's too small One less thing to worry about (not that I'm worrying, I'll start doing that in a month )

weirdbird · 01/08/2007 12:27

It feels like one step forward, 3 steps back with the sleeping at the moment, after that amazing night when she went through, the last 2 nights she just hasn't wanted to go to sleep at all, last night by 9.30 when she still hadnt settled we left her to cry, stood standing guard at the door, of course she made herself throw up, the only time she will fall asleep at the moment seems to be during a feed, if she doesnt drop of then thats it.

She was so pleased with herself that she was out the cot, really dont know what else to try. She wasn't upset at all

Hello Everyone - a brief bump into Margo yeaterday and I felt so guilty at not talking to you all for ages - do you forgive me?

Margo I am so sorry to hear about your sister. From one who has lost 3, please tell there is always sunshine to follow. I fell PG really quickly with all 3 MC's and 2 of them are my babies now. FWIW I did;nt listen to GP advice about not trying for 2-3 months!

Have read some of the thread to see what your DB's are up to. Glad to see a nice mix. Dylan has two bottom front teeth, is sitting and rolling and getting very frustrated. But no sign of crawling - yay!

DD plays so well with him. This morning before I came to work both were out in a the pop-up tent sharing a bowl of (whispers) Skips.... (please deont tell the MN food-police) and laughing there heads of at something - but they do share a lot of jokes I have to say that neither DH or I understand.

Anyway thats all for now in case you deicide to send me to Coventry for lack of commitment.

lots of love

XX

babypowder · 01/08/2007 14:55

LFM/LFPJ, how marvellous to hear from you! Of course no one is going to send you to Coventry

FunkyGlassSlipper · 01/08/2007 15:49

Hi everyone,

Sorry to hear about your sister Margo. Very sad. If it helps my friend had a miscarriage 4 months ago and is now pregnant again on her 2nd month of trying...

Babyglass is sleeping in later in the mornings since we delayed her bedtime until 8pm. She now gets up about 7am which is much more acceptable than 5. I have discovered that if she goes in her cot during the day she sleeps much longer. She only catnaps in her car seat.

She is pulling herself up from sitting if you hold her hands. She seems desperate to walk. A bit of a shock really as she has only just started crawling and DD1 didnt walk until the day after her 1st birthday. Anyway we're going to by a Vtech first steps walker thing at the weekend and see what she makes of it.

Hope you're all ok. We've just got back from a day out at legoland so all v hot and tired.

weirdbird · 01/08/2007 16:03

Ohhh FGS are you going to be going to Legoland again this summer?

Anyone fancy meeting up for the day there?

We have Annual passes as its just round the corner

Thank you for your kind thoughts.

Welome back milkshake, I've really missed you.

FunkyGlassSlipper · 02/08/2007 09:18

Not sure wb, I'll let you know. We have annual passes too. yesterday was our 2nd time.

My DD2s amazing wake ups of 7am have disappeared and she woke at 5.30 this morning. It is definitely linked to how ell she sleeps in the day. If she has long sleeps in her cot she sleeps longer at night. If she catnaps in the car seat she wakes early next day. Cant fix that though as out and about with DD1 all the time....

Elibean · 02/08/2007 09:41

Oh oh OH the internet service we have is so BAD post holiday, we will defo switch servers. Meantime, am probably going to be more or less AWOL - unless DH's laptop makes the trip to France with us, he is making noises to that effect

Margo, I'm so sorry your sister lost her pregnancy...I've had several MCs, its an odd kind of loss; very very painful, and sort of invisible - no one 'outside' knows you are grieving, IYSWIM.

dd2 threw up all her supper last night, then slept (apart from 11pm dreamfeed) till 6.10 this morning - should I starve the girl before sleep, I wonder? BLW is a blast - but v time consuming and messy, am wondering how on earth I'm going to feed LO on the ferry, in the car, etc. She will only eat what she can pick up and hold herself - any ideas?? Perhaps I should post on the food section, if the internet stays up...

Who else is on holiday, or going to be? Isn't it great to get some sunshine?!

LowFatPumpkinJuice · 02/08/2007 11:46

Hey Eli - BLW would be great for DS, as he does love to feed himself, but with his larynx thing I am so anxious. He's already choked a couple fo times on those Organix vegetable crisp things. (I know it's probably not connected but it's just all in the same place)

However his actual eating is brilliant. He is very hungry - is this how all boys are. He's got no fat on him (no bracelets), but is solid and is now in to 9-12mn clothes. And scarlily enough a 12-18mn t'shirt that DD wanted for him so they could both have a Lightening MacQueen top!

Yep I actually managed to dress my girl and boy the same for 1 day - I loved it, very cute!

FunkyGlassSlipper · 02/08/2007 12:19

Hi Guys, I am allowed to call myself a BLWer even though i spoon feed too

Eli - what about toast, breadsticks, pears etc. Stuff that is a bit but not too messy.

Elibean · 02/08/2007 15:41

O but I would be a spoon feeder too, given half the chance dd is totally and utterly spoon-averse, and grabs anything that comes near her face. So no chance.

LFM (hi! good to see you again!) I felt the same about the larynx issue - but have no choice. The first few weeks, I was petrified about choking - but amazingly, although she chokes a bit, dd manages to cough/sick up anything that bothers her quite effectively. We've actually been referred to Speech & Language specialist (they deal with swallowing/feeding issues) in case her larynx was getting in the way of her eating - it seemed to be, at first - but don't think we need it anymore.

We tend to stick to stuff that melts in her mouth - pear, Organix finger foods, Biscottis (the HV said give her meringue if needs be, anything to get her used to swallowing - but so far we haven't!) but she can now do toast. Not tried a breadstick yet, FGS, good idea, thanks

Garlic bread seems to go down well, and those Ella's kitchen veggie purees straight from the nozzle - again, the HV's idea - as no spoon involved. Hummus, too, on toast. And very well cooked fusilli. Protein is the big problem though - any ideas? She'll eat a bit of egg, but has eczema so I'm wary of overdoing it - and she's not hugely keen...

FunkyGlassSlipper · 02/08/2007 15:44

eli - I tried wafer thin ham yesterday cut into small bits and babyglass seemed ok with that.

Elibean · 02/08/2007 15:58

Oooh, thanks FGS, will try that. I tried normal ham a week ago, she seemed to love the taste but would suck thoughtfully on a bit then spit it out...but not tried the wafer thin stuff, sounds much more manageable.

Keep 'em coming

Elibean · 02/08/2007 16:00

Aren't they funny with smeared hair/face/hands and pear mashed into one ear? dd1 never did that, just opened her mouth for the spoon and neatly speared bits in

Though I wouldn't mind any tips for cleaning the straps on her high chair, yuk yuk yuk

FunkyGlassSlipper · 02/08/2007 16:03

aha, I have a first years booster seat. The seat base and tray go in the dishwasher and the straps detatch and go in the washing machine

If the straps wont come off then use a nail brush and hot water/washing up liquid.

Both of my DDs have been messy eaters. I havent tried spagbol with DD2 yet for that very reason.

Quiche is a good one as it is mushy. that would have protein too wouldnt it?

FunkyGlassSlipper · 02/08/2007 16:03

oh and also cheese chunks. They suck it.

Elibean · 02/08/2007 16:13

omg, you are a star. Quiche, the very thing! Cheese is working fairly well, thats my other staple - forgot to mention. Suppose it doesn't matter if she's not eating meat much at 8 months, eh.

Actually, you're a double star: also have early years seat, never thought of dishwasher and washing machine but very glad you did.

Elibean · 02/08/2007 16:15

NOt tried spag, but the bol bit we put on some fusilli and she sucks at it...messy though, yes, omg, very. And dries on the scalp beautifully.

FunkyGlassSlipper · 02/08/2007 16:21

Glad to be of service ...

DD2 now crawling forwards fast. I have just had to put the stair gate across! wtf? and have had to lift everything from the hallway floor .

She is also lifting herself up from sitting if you hold her hands. Is this early? I'm shocked tbh. DD1 crawled at 7 mths but didnt walk until 12 months. DD2 has already taken some steps when you hold her hands although she doesnt have the strength in her legs to hold herself for long. As if I'm not knackered already....

Elibean · 02/08/2007 16:27

Blimey. Must be all that good food you're giving her

dd2 pulls to standing if I give her my hands, but can't quite crawl yet....and I hope she doesn't until we've got past the ten hour ferry trip next week...

Right, time to stare at the fridge and figure out her supper!

LowFatPumpkinJuice · 02/08/2007 16:41

Ooh going home to have scrambled egg for dinner and share it with DS

I dont know why I have'nt come back to you guys for so long you make so much sense, and are so much nicer than most of the rest of them out there in 'other thread land'!
