A group for those Autumn Mamas whose babies arrived in September or October 2018!

@Joeybee hi how did you get your baby to sleep that long. My daughter was born 27 September and she's 10 weeks now but wakes up every 3 hours to feed.

Also she's throwing up after some feeds not sure what to do. Did anyone have a similar problem?

nervousFTM · 10/12/2018 11:42

@niclw that's brilliant you have a good NCT group too, especially as you're so brave solo parenting. I am at my mum's for a few days now and loving the extra pairs (sister here too) of hands. I know your folks are really involved as well which must take the pressure off sometimes. I'm starting baby sensory classes (whizzy wonders) next week so will meet more mums there as well

Just had a referral from my GP to see a paediatrician about LO's reflux so hopefully get some answers then. She threw up on me a lot yesterday 🤦🏻‍♀️ it's the worst during the night when you have to change everything she's wearing as well as the muslin on the sleepyhead. Huge wash load every day! Like your LO she sometimes brings up milk even 1-2 hours after feeding. But is gaining weight well so am trying not to worry. So yes @Gracey88 you aren't alone!

Haven't even thought about nurseries yet but it's on the to-do list. I live in London and we have a Facebook group for my area which has useful recommendations so will need to look at that.

@Joeybee you need to share your sleeping tips!!! That's amazing going by Stanley and you. Dream team. My baby didn't have a great night - as mentioned above I'm at my mum's so maybe she senses she's somewhere else. I got 5.5 hours last night but pretty broken sleep. Think she's suffering with her digestion atm.

Joeybee · 10/12/2018 22:43

I really struggled with settling at the beginning, as well as feeding.
From about 5 weeks I tried a routine where I'd feed him, have active/playtime then settle to sleep and would do that through the day. Since 8 weeks he is awake for 1-1.5 hours then sleeps for 30 mins to an hour through the day. I settle him in a dim room and use a sound machine. I also swaddle him with Ltd swaddles. I always shushed him to sleep and only put him down once asleep. However apparently this doesn't work so well once the sleep regression hits so I've been trying to put him down drowsy but awake and he has for the most part been settling himself. The last feed/play/settle routine before the night I throw in reading to him or bathtime.

Peanut91 · 11/12/2018 10:23

Glad to hear that everyone is settling into motherhood well.
My LB is now 12 weeks and I feel like we have settled into a nice rhythm. We dont seem to have much of a routine during the day as each day is so varied but it seems to work for us.
Touch wood though at night we have a nice routine. He usually gets grizzly at about 8.45 so I bath him and then give him his final feed before putting him down at about 9.30. He then sleeps until about 5.30 when he has another feed and goes back to sleep until around 8.30. I have been putting him down sleepy but awake and mostly he self settles. I am also dreading the 4 month sleep regression.

Trying to get out to lots of groups during the week to meet some other mums in the area as we had to cancel our NCT classes as I was in hospital.

We have also had to move our LO into his own room as he is outgrowing his moses basket already and we dont have room for a cot in our room. Luckily we have a single bed in his nursery so I have moved in there temporarily.

niclw · 11/12/2018 23:55

I don't think I'm going to be able to sleep tonight. My little one has a cold and every now and then he is waking up as he can't breathe through his nose and he has a look of panic on his face. It's only a matter of seconds each time but I've had to reassure him. So I'm worried that if I go to sleep I might not realise that he needs me. It's horrible to watch him feeling unwell. I just wish I could make him feel better. 😢

nervousFTM · 12/12/2018 07:32

@Peanut91 that sleep routine is the dream! You must feel like a real umma every day!!

@niclw did you get much sleep lovely? Have you tried saline drops and the nasal aspirator? My baby had a cold a few weeks ago and I found those both helped. It's horrible watching them suffer. I then also got the cold which made everything so much worse 😬 hope you're feeling okay xx

niclw · 12/12/2018 08:36

@nervousFTM Thanks. I managed about five hours in the end I think. I have been using saline drops and yesterday I gave him some calpol to reduce his temperature. I've got a nasal aspiration but haven't used it. Perhaps I'll get it out in a few mins and give it a go as yesterday he was just blocked up whereas today he is snotty. I'm sure I'm already trying to fight off the cold so only time will tell whether I manage or not.

nervousFTM · 12/12/2018 09:52

@Peanut91 I meant you must feel like a real HUMAN!

@niclw glad you did get some sleep. Wishing your little boy well ASAP xx

Peanut91 · 12/12/2018 11:15

@nervousFTM I really do feel human again!

The downside is he isnt very good at napping during the day unless on me or out dog walking when he is in a carrier. I just make sure I try and get jobs done after he goes to bed and before he gets up for the day so I dont feel too guilty during the day when I dont get much done!

niclw · 12/12/2018 16:31

It's really difficult getting things done while they are awake isn't it? I got my Christmas tree out on Sunday. It's up but not decorated and the house is a tip.

nervousFTM · 12/12/2018 17:05

@Peanut91 aah yes you have a point there 🤔 I take it he's not a fan of any bouncer chairs? Sometimes my LO lasts a shower or hanging washing up in one of those 😂 my mum gave me a great tip for being able to have a shower yourself - let baby kick naked on a changing mat in the bathroom if possible. My LO loves the sound of running water and I'll often pull her into the shower for a quick wash after. She's also not rolling yet so I can pop her on the bed while I hang washing up and she seems happy enough to kick and gurgle.

@niclw hard to believe that in a few short years he'll be decorating that tree with you! Xx

Peanut91 · 12/12/2018 17:54

@nervousFTM yeah he does like his bouncer but only has a certain tolerance of it before he kicks off so I try and save it for things like eating lunch.

Today I took him into town to do some jobs and he kicked off big time. Turns out he just wanted to see the world and was instantly when my neice picked him up and carried him aroind. Thank god for the spare pair of hands!

Hi everyone...

My son is 7 weeks today. Took him to his first session of Crainial osetophaths.. I took him as he just doesn’t sleep for very long. Daytime or nighttime unless he’s held.. he cry’s like theirs something wrong & grunts a lot. Also has skin rashes..

First thing she said was as I took antibiotics during pregnancy that my son will be missing probiotics from his gut which is causing him to grunt all night & is giving him a slight milk intolerance & causing the skin rashes. This makes full sense & I’ll be purchasing the probiotics in the morining once I’ve just With my GP. So this is basically causing Colic symptoms

The second thing she said was bcoz my labour was 20 hrs long it’s caused tension on his skull.. she checked & she said theirs a few major tension points that she can really fix..

She did the first treatment yesterday but to me on my Hubby it was like she did NOTHING.. her hands barley touched him so how is this going to help??

I was so optimistic & exicited thinking this will be amazing but now I’m second guessing it.. she said he will need 3-4 sessions so another 3 left at £55 each time.

We got recommend to this lady so I know she’s good ect..

Any stories good or bad anyone can share?
Thank you

Hi everyone, how are you all doing? Haven’t been on here in a while so just wanted to check in with everyone.

My wee man is 17 weeks today, it’s hard to believe and I don’t know where the time has gone. I’m back to work on 4th Feb, really not looking forward to that Sad.

The wee man is generally getting on really well, had second injections this week so a bit unsettled (docs are very behind schedule on these) but normally he is grand.

Did everyone love their first Christmas with their babies? I had such a brilliant day, he was in great form and my in laws were with us so was a really fun day

niclw · 11/01/2019 16:33

Happy New Year 🎉

@snowy1982 Time is going very quickly. I can't believe that my baby boy is 16 weeks tomorrow. I feel for you going back to work in February. Well done for surviving the second round of vaccinations. We have the third set next Friday. I'll be glad when it's over. I'm hoping to go back in mid May now rather than my originally planned 1st April. My parents offered to help me financially so I can stay off longer but as I'm hoping to change schools for September to work closer to home I must go back in May at the latest. My little one is doing well. He is growing up far too quickly and seems to enjoy sitting up as much as possible and doesn't like it when I have to lay him down. He is so independent it wouldn't surprise me if he is sitting unsupported within the next month x

snowy1982 · 11/01/2019 18:50

@niclw, you’ll have to let me know how the 3rd set go.

That’s great you’re able to stay off longer, I was actually supposed to be starting back a couple days a week from January on, but I managed to push it back, so although am dreading going back this extra full month is definitely a bonus.

And well done on your LO sitting up so well, my wee man loves to sit but don’t think he’ll be sitting unsupported for a while yet

secretnames · 25/01/2019 09:33

Hi Ladies i've not posted in here before but my LG was born on 24th October at 38+3 i say little but she weighed in at 10lbs 4.5!

she's currently on 6oz bottles every 3.5-4hrs and has her last bottle around 10:30-11pm she then sleeps until i wake her around 7:30am! Would you let her sleep until she wakes herself or wake her up like i do?

niclw · 25/01/2019 22:29

Congratulations @secretnames Unfortunately I'm not sure whether you should wake her or not. My LO sometimes sleeps until 7.30 but is often awake as early as 5am. Is she sleeping alright during the day? I'd imagine that some babies need more sleep than others so as long as she is happy during the day and not excessively tired then I'd continue with what you are doing. Have you discussed it with your health visitor? She might have a better answer than me x

secretnames · 26/01/2019 00:24

she sleeps well after her first bottle until around 11:30 then she is awake and alert with little catnaps until bedtime at 11, she's gaining weight well and generally seems very content, think she just likes her sleep! HV is coming on thursday so i'll mention it to her then

secretnames · 26/01/2019 00:25

@niclw Thank you 😊

snowy1982 · 26/01/2019 06:46

@secretnames, I would let her sleep but definitely check with your HV as I’m no expert. A normal nights sleep for my wee man (who is 19 weeks) is 9.5 hours straight, he usually wakens himself then, but some days he will sleep on (longest has been 12 hours) and I always just let him as he obviously is doing it because he needs it.

Now, I’m back to work on 4th Feb so he is going to have to have a set time for getting up and I am dreading having to waken him if it’s a day where he wants a longer one because he hates it

Hi there, I had a little girl on the 18th October. I was wondering is there a Facebook group. I seemed to have joined an American one 🙈
