A group for those Autumn Mamas whose babies arrived in September or October 2018!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

@nervousFTM Yes he is my first and probably only baby. He's adorable so everyone is falling for him straight away. Sorry to heat that you sometimes have a husband/2nd baby to look after. It was seeing one of my friends basically being a single parent despite being married that made me realise I could do this.

@snowy1982 Good luck with the breastfeeding. Someone I know noticed an improvement once the tongue tie was sorted so I'll keep my fingers crossed for you.

snowy1982 · 04/10/2018 16:36

@niclw, I have decided that even if there is an improvement I will continue to combination feed, I am going back to work so early that I need him to continue to accept the bottle, and unless pumping miraculously speeds up, there is no way I can pump in work.

Feeling severe mummy guilt today, after an extremely bad night and morning with a very unsettled little boy, I realised I was using the wrong teats for my bottles. Just made a mad dash to Asda to get the right ones so hopefully we will notice an improvement soon

niclw · 04/10/2018 18:29

@snowy1982 I haven't tried to express yet but will need to try soon as I want to make sure he accepts the bottle. He will have to when I go back to work in April so need start combination feeding soon. It also means that other people will be able to feed him for me which will be handy.

Hi ladies congratulations on all the arrivals.
Our ds arrived this week overdue so made it into the October births.

It's my third baby so I should know the answer but I just don't. Does anyone's stomach feel how will I describe it. Its not sore but I feel like I have to hold it when I walk. And I'm bent forward. It kind of feels like my back is weak from my stomach pulling on it. I just thought after my 3rd I would feel like superwoman in no time at all and even walking is a struggle.

I'm sorry I can't see who asked about leaking urine. I'm not a medical expert but maybe start with the pelvic floor exercises and get a referral for women's health physio to check it out. Good news is it sounds like most things will resolve with the pelvic floor exercises but it will take a few weeks to notice the difference so don't expect it to go away over night. It is not something you have to suffer with forever though.
After my first delivery I had a few trips to the bathroom where I didn't quite make it and it was so upsetting but it does get better. Everything can be a bit bruised and numb down there for a while.

twobambinos · 06/10/2018 15:13

@dailyfailaretwats above.

twobambinos · 06/10/2018 15:15

@nervousFTM I don't think my birth story would do anything for anyone! The main thing for me is it's over Grin

DailyFailAreTwats · 06/10/2018 15:19

@twobambinos thanks for your kind and helpful words. Kegals will be my friend and I hope they'll stop me leaking too!!

funinthesun18 · 06/10/2018 16:09

My little girl arrived on the 27th September ❤️ She was 6 days late and is absolutely beautiful.

laurenluke2017 · 06/10/2018 18:46

Hey everyone. @nervousFTM Invited me over to say hello from another post. 👋🏻 I am due on the 17th of October, but having a planned caesarean on October 15th. Cannot wait to meet my little boy. 👶🏻💙 Pleased for everybody's arrivals. This is my first so its new for me and my DH but we are so excited. SmileSmile

oreolovegood · 07/10/2018 00:07

I made it onto the new thread at last! Well done all new mummies!

Our baby was due 23/10. Called in for induction on 03/10. Turns out it was all happening naturally anyway, they wouldn't give me pain relief until I was 7cm and then just had to burst my waters at 9cm and I had my little lady at 6.29 this morning! 3 weeks early weighing 7lb 13oz Thanks

niclw · 09/10/2018 18:55

Congratulations @oreolovegood .

I hope everyone is getting on alright. It's amazing how much time these little ones take up. I haven't had much sleep the last few nights as my baby boy had a bit of a cold. He has slept loads today so I'm just hoping that he sleeps well tonight too. If not, my parents will take a day shift while I sleep when I stay this weekend.

snowy1982 · 09/10/2018 20:13

My wee man slept 5 hours straight last night, I was so amazed that when he got up I checked his temperature as I was sure he must be sick. I then went to feed him and he fell back asleep after about 5 mins (then I was so annoyed that he actually woke up the first time as I could have actually had 6 hours uninterrupted if it wasn’t for the 5 min feed)

niclw · 09/10/2018 20:21

@snowy1982 That's fantastic. 5 hours would be amazing but can understand your irritation at the five min feed. I think the most I've got in one go is three hours. However I was sleeping so little at the end of my pregnancy that I'm coping better now than then.

snowy1982 · 09/10/2018 22:48

Don’t think it’s going to be as good a night tonight, the wee man is very unsettled Sad

nervousFTM · 10/10/2018 01:52

@snowy1982 hope your night is more settled than mine! Baby girl slept silently 7-11pm and since her change and feed at 11pm (which took an hour) she's been loudly grunting I her crib, giving me no sleep at all! Feeding her again now.

Bumped into a neighbour today whose husband does 4 nights a week so mummy gets to sleep in the spare room! My husband claims he will be happy to trial a night this weekend. I'll believe that when I see it!

Peanut91 · 10/10/2018 06:26

My little boy arrived on 17 September at 36+5 (his EDD was today) weighing in at 5lbs2. Absolutely loving being a mummy, especially as I had quite a difficult pregnancy and I never got that "pregnancy glow".

DS has so far been good. Been a bit refluxy so I have been making a conscious effort to burp him regularly during feeds. I am FF and finding he is going about 3-3.5 hrs between feeds at night and about 4-5 hours during the day.

snowy1982 · 10/10/2018 07:52

@niclw, how’s your little one today? Hope his cold clears up quickly.

@nervousftm, my DH is back to work now but when he was off he did every other night so I could sleep (although he still left him with me at 5/6 in the morning). Now he’s back to work I am doing them all but he will take one night over the weekend to let me catch up on sleep a bit.

Last night wasn’t as good as the previous but not too bad, wee man had a feed 10 but was very unsettled and didn’t go to sleep until half 11. He slept to half 3 then woke for a feed, took it and initially settled well but then got the hiccups which annoyed him. Was about half 4/5 by time he was getting back to sleep

snowy1982 · 10/10/2018 07:53

Welcome @peanut91, congratulations on your little boy Smile

niclw · 10/10/2018 08:38

@Peanut91 Congratulations on you little one.

@snowy1982 Thankfully he is feeling better. He is currently sleeping curled up in a ball on my chest while I'm watching last nights bake off. We've already had his first bath this morning. I was advised to wait due to exceptionally dry skin then waited cos of the cold. He seemed to enjoy it though.

Peanut91 · 10/10/2018 08:48

@Snowy1982 my husband is doing similar. He usually does the last fee about 10-11pm so I can get an early night and then I do the feeds through the night. At the weekends he does the night feeds for me so I can get a whole nights sleep.

On saturday night I got a whole 7 hours and I woke up feeling so refreshed. It was amazing!

nervousFTM · 10/10/2018 10:52

I need to start using my husband! I take pity on him being back at work (plus he starts walking into furniture if he's slightly sleep reprieved!!) and end up doing everything! The only respite is if I get up super early for the gym and leave him with a bottle of expressed milk to feed baby girl if she needs it when I'm out the house for 60-90 mins 🤦🏻‍♀️

niclw · 10/10/2018 11:45

@nervousFTM I was talking to someone yesterday who also felt pity for her husband being back at work. However they found a way round it by her going to bed at 9pm while hubby is on baby duty. Once midnight comes, she takes over night feeds/changes allowing hubby to get a decent sleep before work. They keep notes on the times of feeds and changes so they don't need to speak to each other in the night. She said it's working really well. Perhaps this could work for you and your husband too.

nervousFTM · 10/10/2018 11:55

Thanks great advice @niclw and just in time too. After managing to finally settle my little baby girl at 3:30 AM, she then woke me again an hour later. I knew she didn't need any more feeding as if I did give her more she would probably just sick it up, but absentmindedly I pulled her into bed with me and then woke up 90 mins after that with her right by my side 😫😫

Luckily she's absolutely fine and I've also called the lullaby trust this morning to make sure I hadn't compromised her long-term health in any way (anxious mum, much!?) but I really need to make sure that doesn't happen again as she was 5 weeks preemie (almost 4 weeks old now) and must only be about 6lbs now.

Feel like a terrible mother!!

niclw · 10/10/2018 13:02

@nervousFTM I understand your concern. It's so easy to fall asleep while feeding them. I've taken to reading a book while feeding in bed to try and stay awake but I've accidentally slept a couple of times. Thankfully he has been alright. Unfortunately I've got no one to help as I'm a single mum so I'm going to my parents for four nights so I can get some daytime sleep while they have cuddles with their grandson.

snowy1982 · 10/10/2018 13:20

Enough of the terrible mother talk @nervousftm, your little girl fine so don’t beat yourself up about it
