The cushions are plumped, the cake is baked and RGee's cat hasn't depositied any birds in the corner: the new thread's ready to move into!

Lizzzombie · 21/06/2007 20:42

Wilkie - I'll dress DJ as a girl if you dress J as a girl!
Although he looks like a proper little boy now.
I'll be getting the train into Victoria on the 15th if anyone wants to meet up there.
Are we going to the cafe in Russell Square? Or is there somewhere else we are going? I think I have missed the bit where people confirmed the actual destination.
I reckon the cafe in the square is probably the most baby friendly bit round there.....though there is a macdonalds not far!

RGee · 21/06/2007 20:45

Not bringing Pippa as she'll have just started at nursery and I want her to settle before I start work.
Plus she'll only cry if any of you make a loud noise
I lived in London for a few years and worked close to Russell Square for a couple of years, so know it well. Don't like London though....
Right, got to go and cut DH's hair. Back in five mins....

Lizzzombie · 21/06/2007 20:49

Rgee - 5 mins only? does he not have much hair?
I used to work down the road from Russell Square too. Where abouts were you?

Lizzzombie · 21/06/2007 20:50

May get off a tube stop early....there is a Krispy Kreme stand at Holborn!

RGee · 21/06/2007 20:53

My man is a baldie! It takes no time with the clippers.
Used to be in recruitment and my 'patch' was from Kings Cross (sounds dodgy now) across to Regents Park, and down to Russell Square and Tottenham Court Rd. Office was next to Euston Sq tube.

vinorouge · 21/06/2007 21:00

You've had a vaiety of jobs Rgee haven't you? A much more interesting working life than mine

I am knackered.

Got to go to take my tumble drying to a friend up the road after the rain soaked my loaded washing line and my dryer is still out of action after the flood.

vinorouge · 21/06/2007 21:00

Oooh I am torn opn whether or not to bring Ellen now

Dragonhart · 21/06/2007 21:02

Right looked at the train times and prices and I just dont think I can do it. It will cost £50-60 which after the christening, I just cant afford and I have to say the thought of taking Luke on the train for just over 2 hours and trying to get the double buggy on too with Ruth and Luke on my own just fills me with dread!

Am gutted not to be able to meet you all (although I was a bit scared to meet you all too )

My trip with Luke minus pull ups went rreally well. No accidents and he did a wee in the carpark on his potty too! He got strawberries for pudding as a reward (he loves his bawbrees ).

Oh and Wilkie, dont get me started on the whole boy's clothes versus girls clothes inbalance! Used to get so hacked off about it. Also the fact that they expect little boys to dress like grungy teenagers with torn tshirts and worn jeans!

RGee · 21/06/2007 21:10

Vino / Wilkie - have emailed you both about train travel.

Shimmer · 21/06/2007 21:11

So I hope you approve of russell square as our destintion lizz & Rgee We could go to the cafe Lizz though there are loads of us so i thought maybe just a picnic on the grass would be more practical? Obviously we can always go buy food/drinks from the cafe if people don't want to bring stuff with them. Or there's a little tesco nearby if people want to buy food. Or, if anyone wants posh picnic food the biggest waitrose in london is close by too

People coming into Kings X or Euston - it's really not far to walk, and a lot more pleasant than the tube. Euston is about 5 minutes on foot and Kings X about 10ish (maybe a bit more, depends how fast you walk...) And as I said before, I'm happy to walk up and meet anyone if you're not sure of the way.

JodieG1 · 21/06/2007 21:19

I am seeing all of us getting dh's to take the day of work and look after lo's lol, mine will be wandering about with 3 children wonerding what to do next lmao. I may levae him with just 2 though but I'm thinking an afternoon alone would be great.

very funny, Dennis Leary song. I've started finding him very attractive, I really have a thing about older men these days, Christian Slater, Keifer Sutherland, Nicholas Cage sigh, swoon ehe
RGee · 21/06/2007 21:21

Vino - don't forget I am quite old!
Between aged 15 and 22 I worked at Mothercare York (started as a Saturday girl, worked there during Uni hols, then after graduation when I couldn't be bothered to get a real job, spent time at their head office in Watford as a buyer).
Jacked in job when I realised a £7k salary would not keep me tanked up in beers and followed DH to London (streets paved with gold etc). Started temping, then when reports came back to the temping office that I was a good filer and laminater (EaH ), they employed me as a recrutiment consultant. Worked my way up the corporate ladder from aged 22 - 28 by being lucky and right place right time, and moved around the city and west end.
Jacked in after a couple of ridiculously stressful but fun years, moved back to beautiful Yorkshire in with DH, and got lucky landing the best job in the world organising and running maths competitions for school kids.
So, I've only had three 'proper' jobs in my life.

Wilkie · 21/06/2007 21:45

God I am so so

here

How dare she fucking infer that I am racist.

I am so so so so angry.

RGee · 21/06/2007 21:48

Right, a real post now. What've you all done today? >

EaH - crossed posts this morning (takes me so long to type up epics). Hope the lo's have been well today. How was your dad? Your photos are always beautiful! But where's the one of your new hair cut?
Have you sold your sofas?

UD - what is the difference between Solstice flapjack and normal flapjack? Is Solstice flapjack just made on 21 June and full of cheery sunshine?

Lizz - Good Debenhams wedding togs tip. I went straight to kitchen and kids stuff on the online Debs sale earlier. May wander in to town tomorrow to investigate ladies posh wear.
What delightful coloured veg ended up down your front after said raspberry blowing incident then? What is a Krispy Kreme - sounds gross. I want Lizz's cakes not Krispy Kremes!

Dragon - did you have an accident free Tesco trip then?

Carrot - I love the Stocke highchair! That's why I went for the rip off one from Tchibo!

Vino - wrote a list of things to take on hols next week for lo, and it is soooo much! Would tell you to bring your washing round but we don't have a tumble drier and washing line is down whilst the garden gets done. So it's drying on the back of turned off radiators for us at the minute!

LTH - I am vv impressed at your running! You are putting me to shame and making me feel guilty about my gym membership I have just cancelled.

Wilkie - girls clothes rule!!! I hate clothes shopping myself, but for Pippa it's a different matter althogether! Have you thought about what J will wear at his christening? Aren't dressees for boys quite common at christening

RGee · 21/06/2007 21:59

Wilkie - honestly, please don't get wound up about someone who knows jack sh&t about you. There was nothing racist at all in your post.

laughalot · 21/06/2007 22:24

Wilkie iv made a comment on that thread the dumb arse

Lizzzombie · 21/06/2007 22:38

am going to shout this:
JODIE - CHRISTIAN SLATER IS NOT OLD! He is 38. That is middle aged, a man in his prime.

Lizzzombie · 21/06/2007 22:47

wilks - get on MSN - I have to say something which I cant say on MN!

Lizzzombie · 21/06/2007 22:52

Rgee - you havent lived.

www.krispykreme.com/

The best thing about them is that if their sign is lit up on the shop front, then you can get a free one if you tell them you have never tried them before. (or you used to be able to anyway)
When my sister gave birth to her twins, I didnt take balloons or flowers, I took 2 dozen krispy kremes. She accused me of wanting her to stay fat and then ate half a dozen!

Mrscarrot · 21/06/2007 23:15

Wilkie- I know you are not a racist

but, that is widely considered to be a racist term and probably will offend people.

I think you may even hear from MNet HQ about it.

Wilkie · 21/06/2007 23:43

I am stepping away from MN for a while. I can't be sat here at 23.45 crying as I read a thread that is suggesting I am racist here

Love you all but this is ridiculous. Will be on MSN from time to time if you want to chat.

xxxxx

eandh · 22/06/2007 07:20

Oh dear the ugly head of MN has reared itself again, I'll admit we often say shall we get a 'specific word' tonight, I have honestly never given it a 2nd thought. Its fine for everyone to have an opinion but I do feel that sometimes MN 'jumps' on people.
Wilkie I know you are not racist and it is a common 'phrase' hope you feel able to post again but understand your feelings. Catch you on MSN later on

RGee will do list later on for you and catch up with everyones posts

Eddas · 22/06/2007 07:29

eah, saw you on the last 15 minutes threds. I agree that mn is too quick to jump on you, totally ridiculous. Some of them couldn't understand mine and some others point that it isn't the word but the context it's used in that racist Personally I think that some people just want to argue for the sake of it and cannot admit when they are not quite right. Please tell Wilkie to ignore these people. Personally think they're the ones with the problem

Lizzzombie · 22/06/2007 08:03

Wilkie - dont go.
These people are still discussing their points of view and have disappeared up their own arses. MN needs genuine posters like you, who dont jump down peoples throats at the slightest whiff of a misunderstanding.
I am so sorry that you got so upset about this. Try to remember that most of these posters are faceless and may not even be real mums/mumsnetters & just out to cause conflict to bring excitement into their lives.
We love you xxx
