Morning all. J was not very good last night at woke at 2,4 and 6 . Was asleep but shouting and crying in his sleep. Went into him at 2, ignored him at 4 and went in at 6. He is currently jumping around in his door bouncer shrieking (RGee, Pippa would be crying by now )

How hard work are christenings to organise??? One godparent couldn't do the original date so have had to try and find an alternative one that fits in with everyone....looking at 2nd Sept at the moment so will need to ring Vino Senior later and see if he minds rearranging.

HAven't yet told MIL about christening (she is catholic and we are getting J christened in a Methodist chuch) so we're not sure how she will be about that. Also haven't yet mentioned about child minder to her. My DH is such a wimp!

EAH - V impressed with H sitting up. J can manage about 10 seconds but leans forward quite a lot whilst he is doing it.

theUrbanDryad · 08/06/2007 10:14

morning all - well better night here, only up twice! we went to baby massage yesterday (my LLL counsellor is doing a qualification and wanted to do a session with us as guinea pigs!!) and he zonked out straight after! so i'm going to start doing massage in the afternoons when i can...his skin felt lovely and soft afterwards too!

Wilkie - i'm all for fruit cake at a traditional English tea...also, cucumber/egg and cress sandwiches with the crusts cut off, ready salted crisps in fancy bowls, perhaps some sort of mini sausage roll (although may look a bit common!), and a vast urn of tea, with granny serving!

i'm starving now! i want scones!!

ellieandhattie · 08/06/2007 10:24

ooooo forgot about the chritening wilike you'll need a nice victoria sponge andsalmon sandwiches on thin brown bread

Hattie can actually only do about 3 seconds sitting up inless propped but she appears to hate laying down now

JodieG1 · 08/06/2007 10:31

Morning all. I'm a bit stressed today so I'll catch up on posts tomorrow evening hopefully. Dd has an operation on her eyes tomorrow and I'm so nervous plus ds1 has some illness as he has over 102 temp and a headache Trying to keep busy today so I don't dwell on it too much.

Wilkie · 08/06/2007 10:40

JOdie - will be thinking of DD tomorrow and sending good luck vibes

2Happy · 08/06/2007 11:30

RGee - plenty of cake to go around m'love! Hope lo's head is ok today!

Vino - sorry about work, hope something works out

E&H - glad E's doing ok at pre-school

Wilkie - cucumber sandwiches (with the crusts cut off, of course!) ((oh poo! the only prob with Jodie's notepad idea is you write stuff as you go along, then read a later post and discover someone's already said it!!)) Hope tonight is better.

Trixy - hope ds was ok after his jabs. ds2 had his on weds, slept lots yesterday which I can't say I complained about [bad mummy]

Jodie - good luck for tomorrow, fingers crossed xxx

Found out yesterday that ds1's godmother has breast cancer . Hopefully caught early, but still scary stuff.
Both dsises at my parent's house this weekend, so I may not MN a huge amount . Don't post too much or I'll never be able to catch up!

Afternoon. All good here - sun is out, DH is back home from work, lo is sleeping, I am here with a cup of tea. Had a lovely walk to the park today, and nipped in to see my poor friend who has a broken ankle.

Wilkie / Shimmer - think I'm gonna buy the Doidy cup, and I'm after the letters too (nice and cheap with a 5 letter name, but not much variety on the "p's"!!). I absolutely love buying stuff for stockings!! Brilliant! Dh's favourite thing from last year was a pocket gardener grow your own chillis - it's flowering at the moment on our kitchen windowsill so we're hoping for the chillis soon.

English afternoon tea sounds lovely Wilkie. A nice bit of Grandma Vino's ginger cake to add to that (except if I remember you're not a big fan of ginger?). What about lemon drizzle cake? Lizz?? (Oh, she's still unpacking...). Pippa shrieked earlier today when I was tickling her - I had to pull her up on her double standards

God Trixy you were up late last night! Is that a standard bed time? I am so impressed by your stamina if that's the case.

Lal - am so pleased your ride on is here! It's fun enough pressing the buttons, listening to the stupid fire engine song and watching the lights come on (bet I won't be saying that by Boxing Day!). Enjoy the party!

EaH - that's it - I'm coming straight down to Ellie's caff. Put the yorkshire tea on and some ketchup on my bacon butty. Big nom noms! Here's my pound.

UD - please come and give me a nice shoulder massage. starting to feel a bit lop sided from carrying lo on my hip.

Jodie - all the best for your dd tomorrow. No doubt she is still being brave and her mum is doing all the worrying . Hope ds1 gets better soon.

2H - sorry to hear about your ds's godmother. It's normally very positive if it's caught early enough. Hope you have a lovely weekend with your family. Head obviously fine today and she was chirpy as usual this morning - looks like she may be a drama queen like her grannie

PCF - good news about Alex. BTW, sky+ is great - had all sorts of fun pausing live programmes last night!

Wilkie · 08/06/2007 18:11

Hello. I have kind of stopped doing personals unless I have some advice/info/something interesting to add to individual people otherwise my posts end up being REALLY long. Rest assured that I read all the posts though and give a big group hug to everyone

Have set a date for the christening of 2nd September after talking to Rev Vino Senior. I am SO excited now! Must start looking for an outfit for J. Have seen one in Monsoon which is fab but a bit pricey.

Thanks for the suggestions for food. We are having: scones/clotted cream/jam, fruit loaf, salmon and cucumber sandwiches, egg mayo and cress sandwiches, ham sandwiches, plain crisps, tea, coffee and cordial. Will prob do a few 'kiddie' bits too dependent on how many are going.

MIL rang today to say that she will do whatever we want her to do to look after J but as she won't have the car she will have to stop over the nights prior to having him at our house. I'm gonna sound really ungrateful but I don't want her stopping here twice a week. She's lovely but it is my and DH's space. Maybe the logistics are just too unreasonable and we will have to pursue the child minder avenue.

theUrbanDryad · 08/06/2007 22:41

EAH - the double buggy you offered on my URGENT thread, iwould it be possible if someone could come and pick it up? when would be good for you? give me a shout on email if that's ok....ta xx

Shimmer · 08/06/2007 22:49

Had a bit of a horrible night here. Managed to let Freddie slip out of my hands in the bath and he fell face first (from sitting)into the water. Obviously i scooped him up really quickly - less than a second - but he was pretty traumatised and screamed for about 5 minutes and then just whimpered and looked worried for another 10. The worse thing was DP had just decided to join us in the bathroom (for a change, he's usually still at work, or only just home, so doesn't usually join in bathtime 5 days a week)and for some reason i really felt that he was annoyed with me afterwards. Like i couldn't be trusted to bath F properly! He didn't say anything but just went really quiet and paid lots of attention to F. Maybe it's just me feeling guilty.... but i felt a slightly accusatory vibe from him. Then freddie wouldn't go to sleep for ages, even though he was obviously really tired, so i ended up sitting with him for about an hour and a half until he was finally properly asleep.Right, bed for me now I think. And I'll try not to have nightmares about drowned babies.

Shimmer · 08/06/2007 22:54

Obviously there's people out there with far bigger things on their minds than dropping their Los in the tub... Sorry to hear about your ds1's godmother 2Happy. And hope your DDs op goes smoothly Jodie.

Wilkie · 09/06/2007 08:55

Simmer - how horrible but your DP must remember that accidents do happen - especially with slippery babies at bathtime!

I whacked J's head against the doorframe the other day when I was walking through it, he kind of leant back as I walked through and clonked his head. I felt terrible and gave him a big cuddle but I'm sure he'll get into worse scrapes than that.

How do you cope when they break their arm or something? (worse still, I remember reading a thread where a MNer had sat on her son and broke his arm - how awful)

Better night here. He slept through with a bit of a chunter at 2am.

EAH - how was your night??

Right, well I have a dull day ahead of me. DH working through till Thursday and everyone is away. Am going to mum's tomorrow (again) to keep myself entertained. Dad has offered to take J for a nice long walk around Cleethorpes - yey

Sure I had something else to say but can't think...

Wilkie · 09/06/2007 08:55

Erm Shimmer not Simmer (although you are a hot lady )

laughalot · 09/06/2007 09:16

Morning everyone

Shimmer hope little freddie is ok today you just wait until he is a toddler he will have more little scrapes, bumps and bruises.

Wilkie a walk round cleethorpes sounds fab I like cleethorpes and im sure j will love being with grandad.

Party went well except Aidan wanted to blow the candles out so had a paddy when he couldnt. My mil is having the kids tonight and we are off for a curry with my parents nom nom. Have a good weekend xxx

Mrscarrot · 09/06/2007 09:27

I was thinking the thread was quiet in 'threads I'm on', didn't notice there was a new one!

I agree with Wilkie, unless there is something specific to say, personals take sooo long sometimes, so HELLO.

Shimmer- DH is always telling me to be careful, look where I'm going etc. I'm inherently clumsy and also have little mishaps that make me feel guilty. The door thing is the same for me. I have no spacial awareness and my children have seen the rough edge of a doorframe several times.

Looks like London would be good for a few Southern people at some stage. I reckon we could do it before January though, that's the birthday meet isn't it?

smallone · 09/06/2007 10:25

I've banged LOs head on doorframe too - fortunately so has DH! so neither of us can shop the other to social services

Also I nearly dropped her out of the car seat the other day! Aggghh I'm not fit to be a mother!

Shimmer - how often do you normally bath F? It might be worth trying again today even if you don't normally bath everyday coz my BF's baby got scared of the bath after a tub of sudacrem fell in while he was in there - jumped out of his skin the poor love. She said it took a few attempts to get him used to it again.

Although I suppose it might also make sense to leave it a while to let him forget!

My mother always says "they survive despite us!" - how very true!

smallone · 09/06/2007 10:36

AIBU- to sulk that AF has returned when exclusivly feeding every 2hrs!!!!

Wilkie · 09/06/2007 11:44

Another good site. It lists current vouchers and promotions for LOADS of shops. Use the search on the right to look through the shops and see if there are any relevant codes. It is constantly updated.

smallone · 09/06/2007 15:06

Fab have jotted down code for £5 off next tesco delivery! yey!

Wilkie · 09/06/2007 16:50

Am gonna order a high chair off mothercare later and there are quite a few codes for mothercare - YEY!

Wilkie · 09/06/2007 16:50

heh heh heh my plan to skint all of the January 07 mums is working ;)

RGee · 09/06/2007 19:05

HURRAHHHHHHH!!!!!!
Am so pleased to be here. DH managed to knacker our internet connection this morning by installing anti virus software . By lunchtime I was coming out in sweats missing MN! Anyway, he spent the rest of the day fixing the PC whilst I looked after lo. Grrr...Manage to fix it half an hour ago, just in time to read lo a bedtime story. I've sent him off for a run now, and when he comes back he can buy me a takeaway and pour me a glass of wine to make up for it. Had to laugh though. DH says "I know you're angry but I had to fix it so you could talk to your mumsnet mates"

Wilkie - I'm a big fan of that website! The codes are generally good, but I often forget which ones I've used and try to use them again! For those of you who shop online at Tescos, it's also worth checking out this . If you can be bothered to hunt around on this site, you can also find loads more codes.

RGee · 09/06/2007 19:06

Wilkie - which high chair did you go for in the end?
