Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
gingeme · 13/06/2007 21:18

samsam if your still there. How old is sam now and how many bottles does she have in a day? Edward still has 3 but doesnr seem that bothered with his lunch time one now. Hes 8 months on the 23rd. Do you think I should drop it?

samsmam · 14/06/2007 07:43

Samantha still has 3 bottles a day, 7oz at breakfast, 5oz at about 2pm (then sleeps for 1.5hrs) and 6oz at bedtime. She has yoghurt and cheese to make up the 20oz they are supposed to have. She was 8 months last Thursday.

gingeme · 14/06/2007 09:10

Thanks samsam. Yeah Ill carry on with 3 for now then. Edward has 7oz when he wakes at 7 then breakfast at 8 but I think Ill move that bottle to breakfast. A 7oz about 1 when he wakes up form his nap and one at 7.30 which is bed time.

EmilyandLola · 14/06/2007 11:44

Hey All, how are you all?

Your LO's are having only 3 bottles? Oh crap, what am I doing wrong Lola wont sleep at night until she's had her full 5 bottles of 7oz... help!

Slim · 14/06/2007 12:15

Emily: am I right in thinking you're doing BLW? If so, your LO will prob be drinking more milk and eating less - should even out after the first year I think.

at your DS on the scales Gingeme. We have DS's 8 month checkup soon. Not sure how much he weighs as we haven't been for a whi;e, but guess he;s about the same as Samsmam's LO as he's on the 91st centile too

Samsmam: how scary . I'm always told that all babies fall off the bed at some point. DS has bashed his head a few times falling on the floor - he yells a bit and then is fine. I think you're supposed to check them for drowsiness and sickness?

Mid-July good for me - Wednesdays best as I'll prob be working 4 days by then. Or a weekend, of course

DS woke up up last ight by pracitising his new sitting-up technique - heard some shuffling and then spotted his pressed against the edge of the cot scrabbling to get out

samsmam · 14/06/2007 12:46

I had to cut right back on milk because of LO's reflux. Otherwise I would have done full BLW and she probably would have been on lots of milk still! I just do BLW at teatime- toast, cheese, cooked carrot sticks, potatoes, she loves raisins! (Not all together of course- mind you she'd probably eat it all!)

totallyfloaty35 · 14/06/2007 20:54

hi all,i never worked out how to do those montage things, but my lo is on the m&s website modelling daywear, she is wearing a lilac short dungaree set and a stripy t-shirt set one which says apple of my eye

marthahm · 14/06/2007 20:59

bum. my computer erased my long message just posted. maybe for best so don't bore you.
emilly, had instant panic too reading about 3 bottles and then saw your post and relaxed. wish we didn't do 5 bottles though, such a pain cleaning them etc.

totallyfloaty35 · 14/06/2007 21:03

oh samsmam, scary stuff, hope lo is ok now!
my baby still has 4-5 breastfeeds a day,no irea how much she actually getting though she is on the 50th centile for everything apart from her head which is 75thprobably why she made such a mess of my ladybits.
We are doing blw too, sure does make a mess, when i get her out of her highchair i find she is sitting on most of her meal.
Gingeme hope the pg going well,im still in 2minds as to whether i would do it again,i still walk funny from the last one

gingeme · 14/06/2007 21:24

So know what you mean totaly we think wow hes eaten loads then lift him up and there it is. We went out to dinner tonight as its the end of dh's holiday so we thought wed have a treat. We tried lo with some beetroot and cucumber and pineapple. He loved them all then ds3 had jelly for his afters and lo loved that too. Dont think hell be a fussy child.
Go for number two totaly you know you want to
Any luck with ttc samsam. Did all that Sun help you get in the mood?
Oh and I got stung by a bloody bee on our way home. Felt something fall on my head. Thought it was too heavy to be a leaf so I went to feel and it was a bee. It stung me right in the middle of my palm too. My whole hand aches now.

totallyfloaty35 · 14/06/2007 21:30

but it wouldnt be number 2 ginge,it would be number 4hope your hand feels better soon, did you manage to get all the sting out?

gingeme · 15/06/2007 07:43

Ooh sorry totaly. Yeah number 4's good too
Not sure if I did. Got the big bit off but my hand is quite fat this morning and very stiff. Im taking Piriton for my hayfever so hopefuly that will help. If the swelling doesnt go down Im going to see my friendly pharmacist later.
Lo had me up at 6 this morning. Its al very well trying him with different foods but they dont tell you what to expect the other end the next day
Well have a good day all

wuzzlefraggle · 15/06/2007 09:01

Hi ladies. It was my birthday yesterday!!! 21...

samsam - must have been scary! Anna has fallen off the bed too, but she just cried for a few minutes then was fine...no bumps or bruises and about 5 minutes later it was like nothing had ever happened. We must have just been lucky

hope that every1 is doing ok

Emily - anna likes her milk too, but because i am still BF i dont really know exactly hoe much she drinks.

Do the babies have an 8 month check or 9 month??

samsmam · 15/06/2007 09:20

Wuzz- LO had her 8 month check but the doctor did say that not many areas do it at 8 months now- so may be worth asking. May be a 12 month check in your area.
Happy Birthday- 21!! I was 30 last week!

Gingeme- Not sure on the TTC front- may have to wait until next month as although I was in the mood in the heat- with my parents in the villa and LO sleeping 2ft from me- all seemed a bit strange! I may have been lucky though. Hope the hand gets better.

totally- saw the m&s website- beautiful picture.

Slim · 16/06/2007 09:23

Has anyone else's LO mastered the art of crawling forwards? DS get up on hands and feet, concentrates and whizzles backwards - v funny

Rumpel · 16/06/2007 22:01

Hi All,

Not posted for a wee while - am very busy at the mo.

TOTALLY - your LO is a cutie!

SLIM - are you now? Wish I was

GINGEME - how are you feeling now? How long until the sex determination scan? Remember for bee stings use vinegar and wasps bicarbonate of soda made into paste with some water.

DH is away tonight - his brothers stag night in Arran. Poor Lo is full of the cold. She hasnt been her smiley self this week, was all clingy and crying on Wednesday - must have been the cold working on her. Snot flying out everywhere/ eyes streaming too my poor wee baby!

No crawling here, although she had a half hearted attempt the other day. She can say Mum now too - but only when she is upset

managed to pull my intercostal muscles at last weeks pole class - hoping they hurry up and get better as next class is Monday.

I got NEW SHOES (they are very very gorgeous) for BIL wedding at the end of the month. I am soo not used to wearing high heels anymore - was wobbling around the house earlier doing the ironing to try and break them in. Felt like my ankles were being bound! Had to keep taking them off and putting them on again. Thought I would wear them to dance class on Monday but it is like some kind of self mutilation!! Why oh why do I have to have manfeet? They were big enough before being pg but they are yeti like now! Still they need to be bi9g to hold the rest of me up.

Have a lovely Fathers day tomorrow with all your families!

Rumpel · 16/06/2007 22:05

Samsmam - sorry meant to say at LO falling off the bed - must be have been very scary and traumatic. Hope she is all better now. It is truly horrid seeing them all upset and in pain.

OP posts:
gingeme · 16/06/2007 22:59

Hi Rumpel what are your intercostal muscles?
My hand was realy fat yesterday but is back to normal today just still a bit achey. Yes I did put vinegar on it and dh kept telling me I smelt like a fish and chip shop
I have my 12 week scan a week on Monday so I guess the 20 week scan is 8 weeks after that.
Lo had a pretty bad fall today. We were at my sil's and she has a dd of a year who has lots of bogger toys which lo had great fun pulling himself up on. But alas he toppled over and wacked his head on a cabinet resulting in an egg size bump on his head. A cold flannel and some Calpol and hes fine. Just didnt wash his hair with his bath tonight. He happily ate scrambled egg and toast for his tea and a fromage frais so I think hes ok. Oh and hes doing realy well with his Tommee Tipee cup too. Clever lad.
Happy Fathers Day for tommorrow. Unfortunately ours is working early so will have towait till 4pm for his preyys

gingeme · 17/06/2007 10:57

Oh forgot to mention I'm going to try using cloth nappies on lo. Went to my friends Friday. She uses them on her dd and she is lending me some. If I get on ok with them Im going to use them on the new baby.
Will keep you posted. Anyone else using them? Woud like to hear of your experiences please?

Rumpel · 17/06/2007 11:53

Hi All,

GINGEME - intercostals are the muscles between each rib. Pulled them on the left hand side so sore when I turn over or lift LO. I bought Kushies all in ones before A was born but they didnt fit her legs properly so I sold them all on ebay.

I then tried Motherease birth to potty with poppers, Little lambs, Bamboozles, Fluffle, Motherease sandys, terries shaped. I just got a selection from ebay to try them. The terries were great when she was small. Use a nippa to hold.

I like the Little Lambs - they wash really well, the Bamboozles are fab they stay nice and soft but they take longer to dry. The Motherease birth to pottys go quite hard ( and we have very soft water up here). The Motherease Sandys are good though. My preference is a velcro nappy wrap, instead of poppers, and I prefer a popper or nippa actual nappy. There is someone on ebay who sells 3 x different ones for a good price so you can try them and see which ones suit you and Lo best. I also use flushable liners from Perfectly Happy People (do a google) and put a couple of drops of lavender essential oil in the washing machine.

There are so many to choose from but you need to find what suits you and LOs shape. I didnt mind as I got my money back for the Kushies and I will use them all at least another once so they are well worth the money for me. I use a disposable at night though and if we are out for the full day.

taffy101 · 17/06/2007 11:57

Sorry to hear of all the baby bumps they soon forget it though, its just us mums who are traumatised.

re washable nappies - i bought one once and my good intentions just fizzled away because our washing machine is soooo noisy. feeble excuse i know, but i use nature disposable nappies which are supposed to biodegrade in 15 years instead of 500. BUT i do use pampers overnight cos the nature ones are not brilliant.

Wuzzle you are a young whippersnapper!

I am doing mixture of BLW and puree here as lo is not really keen on this food thing, just try both and hopefully he eats something. I think we had a breakthrough yesterday where he did seem to enjoy some banana and apple puree and did not refuse to open mouth or wave head about madly!

little ones arm is almost healed now. Still dress it every day and it just has 2 small unhealed bits now (smaller than a 5p piece) the rest of it looks like a bad case of sunburn which i hope will fade dramatically. We can defo go on hols on friday

off to find floatys baby on m+s site now

taffy101 · 17/06/2007 12:02

there is a website www.thenappylady.co.uk/ which gives good advice re type of washable nappy. I think she gives you a questionnaire and that determines which would be best
