Well I didn't catch up on the last thread but did manage to read this one and survive my first day on my own yesterday... Lucy weighed this morning, 11lbs 4 oz at 4 weeks old, almost a pound since last week... so despite the bfing pain I apparently have enough milk!

Hope everyone having a good day, Katy hope you and bubba ok.

Gotta go get some lunch before I fall asleep.

xxx

oooggs · 05/06/2007 12:43

Hi Bumble - what was her birth weight? I thought mine were big but Erin is 11lb 5oz at 9.5 weeks.

Glad you survived on your own, such a confidence boost

Pesha · 05/06/2007 13:10

Wow! Dylan is 9lb 5 at 6 weeks and still in his newborn clothes, most of the 0-3 things look huge on him. He's long, think 57 cm, but skinny! But at 6 weeks i finally feel like i have enough milk and d seems much more settled although still waking every 1.5 - 2 hours through the night so sympathise with Em on the shit nights. Although all i have to do is roll over, latch him on and im normally asleep before he's finished!

Spoke to someone at playschool who had letter this morning saying what class their dd will be in at school in sept, cant wait for my post now and then tomorrow will find out who else is in his class, i hope he's with at least 1 or 2 of his best friends.

Katy car accident must have been really scary, would def see hv if you're at all worried, just to put your mind at ease if anything.

Pesha · 05/06/2007 13:17

Post has come!! He is in miss bush's class which means as much to me as it does to any of you! But then the only reception teacher i know was dds teacher and i knew it wouldnt be her as her class is mixed reception and yr 1 and ds will only just be 4 when he starts and nowhere near where dd was when she started. Will quiz dd when she gets home. I really want to know who elose is in his class now, im so impatient!

WestCountryLass · 05/06/2007 13:28

Calling Octo, come in Octo, Octo are you there?????

Are we still meeting at the Mall on Thursday? I can get there for 9.30, but let me know what time suits you, i've obviously got to get DS from school so will have to leave by 2.45 if you do want to meet in the afternoon.

Sexonknackeredlegs · 05/06/2007 13:46

What great sizes Oogs and Bumble!!

Katy, I know what you mean re sizes of babies that some women have. A friend of mine keeps saying let her know when K reached 10 pounds, 9 ounces, as that was the size her dd was when she was born!! OUCH!!

Sexonknackeredlegs · 05/06/2007 13:48

Pesha, snap! Katie weighed in at 9 pounds 6 at 6 weeks!

nuttygirl · 05/06/2007 14:18

Hi all, I'm gonna catch up after posting so apologies for no personals yet!

Have had a lovely weekend, apart from the MIL. Went out with sis and SIL on Fri, had a lovely meal then me and sis got sozzled (SIL went to B&B cos she's pg & was tired) and went clubbing with DHs and my DH's best mate (they'd been to a beer festival). Had my hair cut on Sat morning, went for coffee with PIL and BIL&SIL in the afternoon. Then my sis & aunt babysat while Me, DH, DH's best mate, mum, dad, MIL & FIL went out for a meal. Meal was lovely. On Sun DH & Erin got christened and we all went for a big Sunday lunch afterwards.

In a moment of self confidence (or perhaps madness ) I told Al he could drink and I'd drive home to parents house (haven't driven much for 8 years!) and despite my family being a bit pessimistic about it DHs best mate said I'd be fine and wouldn't have forgotten everything so I DID drive home. Managed it fine (although nearly hit a wall while reversing out of the parking space ). Drove the first 15 miles back here too yesterday.

My MIL is doing my head in. She's obsessed with my baby not getting too hot. I understand that her eldest son had febrile convulsions so she has a reason to worry but it's getting a bit much. FFS I'm putting less clothes on Erin than the midwifes did in hospital (where it was even hotter). Also she won't hold Erin if she starts to cry or even murmur. And when she's not happy about something she refers to Erin as 'this child' (as in "how many layers does this child have on", "I don't think there's any settling this child today", etc.) She's uselss too...she couldn't even move her from feeding position to sitting up for winding...she was saying "Someone take her, someone take her, I can't do it". ARGHHHHHHHH......

Oh yeah and when we all went out for coffee she said to SIL "You're going to be a brilliant mum" then started criticising how I'd dressed Erin and stuff.

nuttygirl · 05/06/2007 14:44

Just had to add that the hotel cut up our christening cake and there was a bit too much so mum offered it around the bar. 2 girls had some and mum offered them somemore soon after cos there was still some left. 1 little girl says

"No thanks, I've already been sick"

(her mum did go on to say that she was actually sick 4 days ago!)

mammyjo · 05/06/2007 14:56

Nutty, treat what your MIL says with a pinch of salt. I have one a bit like that and she generally does my head in. I just try my best to be civilized whilst totally ignoring everything that she says!

Katy, hope you are ok today, must have been so scary for you. How is T doing now?

EM, poor you still feeding every couple of hours all night. Can sympathise as ds was exactly like that and it was so tiring. Hope you get some chance to rest today xx

Clarice, at 38 degrees! Bit too warm for me. Its about 23 here now and that is warm enough!

Bumble, glad you coped ok on your own. Now you have got over that first day you will be fine. I got really stressed the first time I was home with ds and dd but it turned out fine. I think you need to get over that first time to prove to yourself that you can do it.

Have just come back from baby clinic where F has had her first injections. She is snoozing in the car seat. I got her weighed and she has only gained 8oz in the last 18 days. I am now stressing that my milk is crap and that is the reason for her crap weight gain. HV wasnt at all worried but I am working myself up about it now too. What can I do? Should I be trying to improve my diet? Will this make my milk more potent?! I do eat rubbish a lot lately so I am wondering if I am not helping myself. Any advice gratefully received. I was so pleased with myself for going so long with BF but now I am stressed about it. Dont want to give it up either.
F was ok after her injections, yelled initially (obviously) but settled quickly with a bit of boobie!

nuttygirl · 05/06/2007 15:00

Katy - at your car accident, hope you're both ok.

Sorry to hear everyone's having DH problems. Maybe we should all swan off somewhere for a couple of weeks and leave them to it eh? on second thoughts...we'd only come back to carnage.

AngeG · 05/06/2007 15:02

Katy how scary for you. Glad you're both ok.

Went to the hospital about Izzy's eyes today and good news, they are not concerned about her eyes and have discharged her
Spoke to them about Izzy sometimes seeming like she's gagging, they think it might be stomach acid ie silent reflux so have prescribed ranitadine, which is what Jake used to have.
SOKL - Interestingly she said that Gaviscon is only any good if they are actually being sick.

Also weighed her and she's 9lbs 9oz, not catching up with many of yours yet, she's 9 weeks tomorrow.

Mammyjo hope F jabs were ok. Izzy had hers yesterday, I gave her calpol before she had them, obviously she cried when they went in, but calmed down as soon as I picked her up. She didn't need any more calpol so that's good, was a little worried as J had a reaction to one of his and we spent 3 nights in hospital.

Off to catch up

AngeG · 05/06/2007 15:03

x posts mammyjo - glad jabs were ok

AngeG · 05/06/2007 15:12

Nutty - MILs are just a PITA, ignore her!

Mammyjo how much does F weigh now? I know how you feel, Izzy started off between 25th and 50th centile, but has gradually dropped to 9th centile today, as you say no-one seems concerned...except me, but it is making me worry that my milk is no good. Advice appreciated.

AngeG · 05/06/2007 15:13

Where's everyone gone?

Scared you off have I

mammyjo · 05/06/2007 15:15

She weighs 11lb 2oz today and she has always been on the 50th centile but is dropping away from it now. I know its probably me just being over sensitive about it. Never had this problem with ds, he gained weight like mad. When he was 10 weeks (same age as F now) he was 13lbs! It just really bothers me that I am not providing her with what she really needs.

mammyjo · 05/06/2007 15:16

Not scared off just took an age to type!!

AngeG · 05/06/2007 15:19

Try not to worry, maybe she's just have a slow couple of weeks. Why not take her again in couple of weeks and see how she's doing then? If you're still worried then, then talk to HV about it.

I'm deserting you now to pick J up from pre-school

maveta · 05/06/2007 15:23

Hi Guys, Claricebean - 38! We´re not touching 30 yet, it´s actually been cooler than usual over here for this time of year. Or so I think although dh claims it´s normal. I think it was 27 today but the wind feels cool IYKWIM. Not complaining, I love spring/ early summer temps before it gets too hot.

Bought some new jeans today..YAY! Finally going to hide the maternity jeans. Got them from Mango, only one size bigger than my normal size (40 vs 38) but when I tried some in Zara the only ones that would fit me were 44! Huh! How can sizing vary so much from shop to shop?

We´ve got our weigh in tomorrow but N was 9lb 2 oz last week (5 weeks) and 56.5 cms so like Pesha´s dylan, long and skinny! My friend had an almost 11lb-er eek.

Nutty - my MIL is ALWAYS saying that N is too cold, it drives me up the wall. He´s always hungry according to her too. I really feel like saying "yes, actually he is but we choose to ignore it and make him suffer"

Katy at car accident, what a fright for you both, hope you are okay.

Emmymummy- that sounds awful re. nights! Poor thing, hope you get some respite soon.

AngeG - great news about Izzy´s eyes, you must be so relieved.

Mammyjo - no advice for you babe, I would say to maybe try not to worry if the HV wasn´t? Could you try and get her weighed regularly in the next few weeks just to keep an eye on it? It´s such a dent in your confidence, isn´t it? It´s what happened with us last week which is why he has to get reweighed tomorrow. Feel like I´m right on the knife edge re. giving up breastfeeding.

Hello to everyone I´ve not mentioned, can´t keep up with it all!

nuttygirl · 05/06/2007 15:27

Sorry to hear about feeding probs Mammyjo. No advice really but try not to worry to much (especially if the HV isn't too worried). BTW the charts in the red book are based on bottle fed babies not breast fed...maybe you could find a bf one on the internet?

nuttygirl · 05/06/2007 15:31

And here's some christening pics (taken by FIL) www.jumpsystems.co.uk/erin/index.html

Images 29 & 30 show the 4 generations of my family - my mum had a similar pic when she was a baby!

The cake was decorated by my sister too and I think it's fab!!! (she's definitely the creative one!)

mammyjo · 05/06/2007 15:49

Those pics are lovely nutty and Erin is so gorgeous! She has got beautiful big eyes hasnt she! Your sister is very creative to have made that cake, its looks very professionally done. Looks like you all had a good time too. Nice to have a face to put to your name!

mammyjo · 05/06/2007 15:50

Didnt think about the growth charts in the red book nutty. Thanks for that, will go and see what I can find.

Katy44 · 05/06/2007 15:53

mammyjo · 05/06/2007 16:02
