Have to say we haven't had any wee leaking nappies yet, a couple of poo ones though

oooggs · 05/06/2007 21:23

I ordered online shopping today and when I went to order nappies it made me think what I did with ds1. But like you said Ange newborn finished in size 2 so when he grew out of that you went to babydry.

I didn't get on with huggies, was considering cloth nappies but with two and ds1 reverting to wet accidents I didn't think the washing machine could cope (or my sanity)

Sexonknackeredlegs · 05/06/2007 21:23

Yep, poo leaks only - no wee leaks!

Ellie I like rugby players!!

EllieK · 05/06/2007 21:24

SOKL the conversation continued with Matthew, and did make more sense.......

me: well why do you have feet?
m: because i'm a big boy and i do walking
me: so what would happen when Joe gets bigger if he had no feet?
m: he couldn't walk. ok then mummy, we should let him have feet

well E is 11lb 5oz and J 13lb 1.5oz so I think when I have used the next lot up I will change. Baby dry is cheaper

EllieK · 05/06/2007 21:25

we had leaks but with Pampers it was cos they didn't go round his legs well so there were huge gaps and with Huggies it was cos we needed the next size up

oogs, I have no excuses for not using re-usables, other than I am a lazy monkey . We are pretty good on recycling loads of stuff tho.

liath · 05/06/2007 21:25

Dd cracks me up sometimes, the things she comes out with. She earnestly told me the other day that there wasn't a helicopter in the sky because it had gone off to eat cheerios !

Sexonknackeredlegs · 05/06/2007 21:28

Liath, God love your dd.

I must tell you something else that made me laugh.

We were working through the alphabet, and I asked B, what word starts with T. Her response ......

Tesco man!

AngeG · 05/06/2007 21:29

Me too SOKL lazy I can't keep up with the washing as it is. Do loads of recycling otherwise though.

AngeG · 05/06/2007 21:30

B was right though SOKL

Bramshott · 05/06/2007 21:31

Have vaguely caught up!

EM - sorry to hear about crap night.

KHIN - good to see you, thanks for popping in and letting us know you're okay.

Sounds like there's a lot of guzzling going on with all that weight gain.

Mammyjo - I'm sure your milk is fine and filling, F is just getting older and not piling on the weight so fast. O put on 1lb in the last three weeks (10lb now) which is slower than at first.

How frequently are your babies feeding in the daytime? Orla is still roughly every 2 hrs, and I thought she would go longer by now (she's 10 wks). She does sometimes do 3 if she has a long sleep, but not often. Not complaining as such, but wondering if I should be trying to string her out more.

Miraculously she's gone to bed this evening (been down since 7.30), but she seemed very drowsy this afternoon so instead of enjoying it, I,m now worried she's ill . . . Can't win!

Sexonknackeredlegs · 05/06/2007 21:31

She was! Just won't ask her what starts with the letter V!!! (remembering our conversation the other evening!)

Katy44 · 05/06/2007 21:32

I like the tesco ones, they're just like huggies but with cuter pictures (I bet this wears off for no2!)
I found the pampers and sainsbury's ones are a bit too shaped, they're OK but don't hug his legs as close.
Is it only T that puffs his tummy out when we're putting the new nappy on so that there's a great big gap and he can get poo all over (and then looks really impressed with himself)?

liath · 05/06/2007 21:34

Who was it who farted in front of the Tesco man back in our antenatal days. PMSL at that!

Bramshot, daytime naps very erratic - sometimes a long sleep in the faternoon but otherwise it's only when out in the sling or short naps after feeds. Generally down for the night between 8.30 and 9pm.

Sexonknackeredlegs · 05/06/2007 21:34

Bramshott, ikwym re are they ill? K was really drowsy this morning. Went for 4 hours between a feed, and when she did have her bottle she only took 3 ounces and fell in to a deep sleep. She is fine thankfully as pirked up this afternoon, but I did worry!

Hope O is ok hun. x

Sexonknackeredlegs · 05/06/2007 21:35

Liath, I think it was Octo who farted in front of the Sainsbury's man!

EllieK · 05/06/2007 21:35

it was octo i'm sure

I have switched to the Nature Baby Care nappies which are made from maize and more environmentally friendly. They are really good!

I was fed up feeling guilty for using disposables after using them on the other two and being unaware of the environmental impact. For me, they are a compromise as I would not go down the reusable nappy route (time, effort etc )

EllieK · 05/06/2007 21:37

might give Tesco a try then Katy, sounds like your T has legs like Joe!

have been getting them at Boots as i had loads of vouchers to get extra points and they were on 3for2

SOKL

Bramshott - Izzy still 2hourly during the day. She's 9wks tomorrow.

I used Tesco nappies in prem and newborn for J but found the bigger ones gave him nappy rash. Know what you mean about puffing their tummy's out

EllieK · 05/06/2007 21:39

am dreading the nappy thing as it goes on, Matthew was in size 6 before he was 2, became a real problem towards him being toilet trained, as the nappies didn't fit very well at all and there were no bigger sizes to move onto

oooggs · 05/06/2007 21:40

WCL - I have heard these are good - may investigate. But not everywhere sells them. Can only get them in Waitrose & Mothercare down here as my friend uses them.

EllieK · 05/06/2007 21:40

ooh, Joe is feeding every 2.5/3 hours during day now, 3.5/4 hours at night

OP posts:
EllieK · 05/06/2007 21:42

our Sainsbury's sells them, might give them a try too

was also told that not using nappy bags reduces the enviro impact as the nappy inside takes far longer to rot as the air cannot get to it, advice is to have a 'nappy bin' by the door for just that.
