Well i think i was the frist to 'pop' from the due in june thread so i thought it was about time we started the post-natal thread.

DS2 is 2 weeks on monday I had him 4 weeks early due to induction for OC. Everything is going really well and i think things are finally starting to settle down (i hope i haven't just spoken too soon!!)

He is really suffering with colic though and were getting about 4 hours sleep a night on average and with a 2.5 year old there is no chance of catching up in the day, but i shouldn't complain as i'm lucky to have got two wonderful boys. Thats it now NO MORE!!!!!9smile0

I know a few other june mums have had their babies so it would be lovely to hear from you to see how you are all getting on (when you get the chance )

afternoon all!
missing you ladies stimulating conversation but then i suppose im 4 weeks in, somewhat further than most
switched ellen to hungry babies formula but shes still downing 4 oz every 2 hours.
strangly at night shes going 4 hours sometimes 5, so whats up during the day i have no idea.
i have cut down to one breast feed a day, as she takes a full feed and then still has 4oz and shes putting loads of weight on, so prob best just to give formula and offer water between feeds.
i tell you him upstairs has a sense of humour.. one underweight and allergic to everything son, and one chubby always hungry daughter!

daisyboo · 21/06/2007 13:58

Another day, another completely random feeding pattern in the daisyboo household.....
..yesterday Em was only feeding from one side for about 10 mins then going back to sleep...i put her down at 10:30 and she was up about 1:30 and fed from both sides as usual.. She then slept on top of me from 2:30 to 6:30....fed for half an hour and then slept till 12:00. all we need is for her to do a five hour stretch from say midnight to 5 and things will start to improve!

Went into town this morning and now feel like I'm dying....maybe a 2 hour jaunt around town was a little bit much for me. It was really heartbreaking as all the sales are on and I didn't have the energy to go looking at things . Only managed to grab a few bits for the kids before collapsing in a heap. DH had to bring me home then go back to finish his shopping .

Did manage to get measured in Bravissimo though....34H....talk about a Jordan moment! Just wish the bras were slighlty more attractive than they are, but i suppose comfort is all at this stage of the game!

One of these days there will be someone here for an actual on-line, live conversation [sigh]

BadZelda · 21/06/2007 14:06

Hey Daisy - I'm on - how are you doing? Took kiddies to the one o'clock club today, which was lovely as I feel like I've been under house-arrest for the last week. Still a bit worried about Matilda though as all she seems to do is sleep, but the midwife is coming to do a check tomorrow, and didn't seem worried when she saw her on Monday (still up to birthweight after a week) so hopefully all is well and I've just got a quieter baby for number 2 (Ella was always a good night-sleeper, but very wakey in the day). Obviously this should mean that I have hours to spend on the net as DH is still home from work, but DD1 keeps an eye on the computer and tends to hassle me if she sees me using it, so as a consequence I haven't been on here since Tuesday! Anyway looks like it will get busier soon what with all the babies flying out now? Anyone else got a sleepy baby?

daisyboo · 21/06/2007 14:24

Sleepy baby...I wish

Em is pretty average (3 hours usually between feeds), with the odd moment like today where she'll sleep for a long time.

Can't complain though as she very rarely cries. She's started to take a bit of an interest in what is going on around her already (obviously she's inherited her mum's nosey gene) and ususally stays awake for a bit after a feed to see what's going on.

daisyboo · 21/06/2007 14:32

Had a text from Bumper to say that Baby Bumper (as yet un-named) slept well last night (unlike Bumper) and that she is feeding "like a monster". She hopes that eveyone is well!

BadZelda · 21/06/2007 15:09

Well I'm a kind of a hyper person, so I struggle with all this 'resting' and staying in the house. Now both kids are asleep, so feeling at a loose end. May leave them with DH and go for a rollerskate now that I don't have a huge bump any more ;)

NattyThomasandEllen · 21/06/2007 16:55

know what u mean bz, i didnt rest either! DH is always telling me off!

lilKelBel · 21/06/2007 17:29

Natty I'd kill for a baby that ate every 2 hours during the day if it meant 4-5 hours sleep at night! Seriously though I think that's the way it should be - more frequent feeds in daytime than at night -

We seem to have a nighttime pattern of a bedtime feed at 6:30/7pm, then 10:30pm, then 1am, 4am, 7am. I guess I should be happy we're getting some 3 hour stretches??

Still wondering if anyone else is planning on moving new baby into older kid's room?

I'll wrap up by telling you all off for not resting enough

daisyboo · 21/06/2007 20:10

Another quiet day post-natal....lots more babies this week so hopefully it's going to get busier around here.

BZ...I suddenly do find myself in possession of a sleepy baby! She slept from 7 till 12, fed for an hour then slept from 1 till I actually woke her up at 6:30! Fingers crossed we'll get more of the same tonight!

justbeme · 21/06/2007 20:16

CHECK OUT THE ANTENATAL THREAD! Newsflash!!

TALLULAHBELLE · 21/06/2007 20:21

Knock knock - can I come in?

Actually this will probably be the last you hear of me as my every waking moment (well, haven't had many sleeping moments lately) seems to be spent with a limpet attached to my boob.

Is it normal for a wee one to feed so much? She will do 30-40 min easily each side and then be back for more after a 20 min power snooze.

Anyway, aside from this -it is lovely to join you 'on the other side'. And hopefully I will be able to keep up with the sedate pace.

lilKelBel · 21/06/2007 20:55

Welcome tallulah and all the others due to join us soon

Yes I think it is normal for wee ones to feed so much. IME the first few days involved a few rounds of seemingly-endless cluster feeding followed by the occasional long nap. I made the mistake of letting my LO sleep too much in the beginning and she ended up losing too much weight - had to bulk her up by squeezing a feed in at every waking moment in the end!

Happy to report we are at 9lb today! Whoo hoo!

foxybrown · 21/06/2007 20:57

ooh, I love lurking on your PN thread!

gets me all nervous and excited at the same time

daisyboo · 22/06/2007 09:27

True to form we were up twice in the night. DH bless his dear heart took her downstairs to settle her so I could get straight back to sleep. She's always harder to settle at night, not sure why.

DH is off to the registry office this morning and HE HAS BEEN WARNED...if he comes back with the name spelt wrongly, he Will Be Fired.

I've been banging on about the spelling of Isabelle since whe was born, as it's after my gran and I've got her name for my middle name as well. My dopey dad spelt it wrongly though, so I'm determined Emily will be done right. The dopey bugger keeps getting it wrong, so I resorted to writing it down in angry capitals before he left this morning, and to say i spoke to him like he was an imbecile. it'd better be bloody right or he's in big trouble!
thought i was going to get to finish my cuppa, there.....but no!

tallulah, you'll need operfect the art of one-handed typing!

lilKelBel · 22/06/2007 12:58

Bit puzzled as to how one could spell Emily wrong...!

We had a bit of drama in the night - another session of screaming whilst eating followed by hiccups and vomiting. Hmm. So I've caved in and ordered some loathesome fiddly Dr Browns bottles today. Tried them with DS and were so leaky and fiddly but maybe we'll have more luck with them this time. I just can't bear little S screaming like this!

Gotta run x

daisyboo · 22/06/2007 15:34

lol lilkel....it's the isabelle i was cocerned about.....my gran was called isabella and its also my middle name, but my dad spelled it wrong, so i ended up a plain old isobel......i've ranted about this on a daily basis since she was born especially as he spelled it wrong on the e-mail sent out to friends.....this morning he was still trying to spell it isobel.

anyway it's done now and she is an emily isabelle

saw the trickcyclist today and I'm not as mental as i was . meds working, life seeming ok at the moment, but boy is it difficult raking over old stuff. getting great support at the mother and baby unit though.

charlie999 · 22/06/2007 16:11

Hi Guys

Hope everyone is OK - I've had a crap night with DD - and day for that matter - 4pm and for the first time today she's been asleep for more than 10 minutes without screaming to be picked up!

After all my posts the other day about sleeping for ages - she hasn't done it since! Typical eh? she screamed so much whilst I was getting dressed this morning she had tears in her eyes - and she's only 3 weeks old!

Also found out today that a friends DS who came to visit us last Saturday has come down with chicken pox today . My health visitor hasn't picked up her messages, and NHS direct weren't very helpful except to say he was contagious and incubation time is 10-21 days. I'm going to be paranoid now looking for signs of illness! Just as well the anti-anxiety tabs are beginning to kick in! Blimey, how am I going to cope with a 3 week old baby with chicken pox?

Saw the health visitor for the first time this week and the good news is that DD has gone from 6lb 7oz at birth to 7lb 2oz which is great - and in her notes she has been described as a happy, contented and alert baby - so I must be doing something right!

Been lurking a bit on the AN thread and congrats to all those who are about to join us on this thread - I find the experience and advice of you all absolutely invaluable

daisyboo · 22/06/2007 19:43

Is there anyone about this evening? It's all gone a bit quiet on the AN thread as well.....

And I know why.....no sooner do I get settled with the computer/my tea/a cup of tea, than mwaaah...mwaaahhh!

On my own tonight...DH off to Scotland to fetch my mum down for a few days and DS at the PILs...well, not on my own, but ykwim!!

riabutterflew · 22/06/2007 20:18

Hi. I've come to join in!

Can I start with a question? My left ankle and foot has swollen up and is pale and feels weird. Should I be worried?

My baby is gorgeous. How will I stop myself wanting another?

Bye for now. Have giant-sized dirty boys to bath!

daisyboo · 22/06/2007 20:23

ria.....sounds horrible....call your mw.

both of mine swelled up and were hot and sore, but that sounds like circulation or something. better get it checked out.

does anyone elses lo get horrible hiccups afyer every feed. I feel so sorry for the wee soul.

she's lying on my knee watching eastenders, lol

riabutterflew · 22/06/2007 20:59

thanks daisy. will do tomorrow if no different.

Just waiting for baby to wake, but did manage bathtime on my own.

Nitex

Jamantha · 22/06/2007 21:11

daisyboo - mine gets very hiccupy too. MIL says that DH was the same as a baby.

Jamantha · 22/06/2007 21:13

And I just watched Dr Who from a couple of weeks back (the weeping angels one) with C asleep on my lap. Was very scary - and I kept holding her extra close to protect her from it!

sputnik · 22/06/2007 22:20

Hi Ria and congratulations for Gabriel, know what you mean about the giant boys, DD suddenly seems so huge!

riabutterflew · 22/06/2007 23:44

DS2 has massive ears and his hair is really untidy, he's like a wild man of the woods compared to the baby. It was the same with him and DS1 too, but DS1 doesn't get close enough nowadays!

Am hoping Holly is ok.

Be back soon...
