As I have no brain and often no time to read all of the other thread, I thought I'd start a new one for SE meet up plans.

The questions:

  1. Can we all get to Brighton? Is that the best place?
  2. What weekdays could you do without big ones? Failing that, a Saturday.
  3. Who fancies a trip to West Wittering with the big ones in the summer hols? Let's book it in early.

For me - Yep, Brighton good, although I don't know it very well so I'm hoping someone else will suggest where to meet. Also happy if others have other suggestions - Arundel?!?
Best mid-week days for me are probably Tues, Wed or Fri when I can book N in to her nursery for a longer session. Monday also okay but would have to make it fairly speedy to be back by 3.00.

come out of brighton station and walk straight downthe hill until to hit the sea and turn left

about a mile - but downhill, an easy walk

EllieK · 12/06/2007 12:03

downhill getting there means we'll have to go uphill to get home

thanks for the help custy

Tortington · 12/06/2007 12:03

it is quite a hill too!

AngeG · 12/06/2007 12:06

Uphill on the way back Still it'll be worth it to meet up!

Custardo - can you suggest anywhere else nearer the station that about 8 ladies and babies with pushchairs could meet and have lunch? Or is the pier the best place?
Thanks

Tortington · 12/06/2007 12:14

you can't come to brighton and not see the sea.

get a taxi back - there are taxis outside the station ask one for a card and share a cab.

oh no car seat dilema....eeek.

balls, i say you take a steady walk back stopping at the odd pub for a soft drink

EllieK · 12/06/2007 12:19

ooh, sounds good, is the route lined with lots of pbs?

EllieK · 12/06/2007 12:20

pubs obviously

Tortington · 12/06/2007 12:27

well there are some bars nearer to the station.

why not - go to see the sea slash about with your babies. wonder around the pier buy some rock

take a walk back up to the churchill centre shopping place.

sit outside with a pizza slice from the van ( outside BHS) and a cup of juice from the van next door to it - freshly squeesed.

you have now done half the big hill refreshed - you march onwards until you hit the first pub

Tortington · 12/06/2007 12:28

no slashing with babies.

splashing

EllieK · 12/06/2007 12:51

custy
this is sounding fab
any other suggestions?

Tortington · 12/06/2007 12:57

well if your into studenty hippy - yet high class boutiquey shopping try the laines - i can't give you directions. look for the laines car park as you walk to the pier then after your pier visit on the way back head for the car park its around there.

in fact i would urge you most strongly to ditch the fission chips by the pier and go to pizza express or something - book in advance - in the laines. brighton ins very child freindly restaurant wise - i can't get away from screaming kids

EllieK · 12/06/2007 13:04

even with 8 of us with babies under 3 months old?!

Tortington · 12/06/2007 13:06

ermmmmmm. dunno. maybe not.

EllieK · 12/06/2007 13:18

thought we'd test their child-friendlyness

note to all Brighton MNers - make yourself absent on Friday 22nd

AngeG · 12/06/2007 16:10

Thanks Custardo

Sexonknackeredlegs · 13/06/2007 20:28

OK, so Ange and I are getting the train. If we get the 9.53 from Eastleigh we will be in to Brighton at about 11.15.

Not sure what WaspElly is doing - she seems to have vanished...

Bramshott · 14/06/2007 11:45

Hmm - if loads of people are getting the train, I wonder if there's a better place to meet than the Pier?

OP posts:
Sexonknackeredlegs · 14/06/2007 12:27

Who is getting the train apart from me and Ange, and possibly Waspelly?

WaspElly · 14/06/2007 21:48

Definately me too SOKL I was considering joining you with Ange as Fareham Station looks fairly easy to get to.

EllieK · 14/06/2007 21:48

me and CD will be on the train
and Elkie if she comes but maybe on a much later one

EllieK · 14/06/2007 22:05

we can get a train in for 11:21

Sexonknackeredlegs · 15/06/2007 11:43

The train that me, Ange and WaspElly are getting gets in at 11.15, so good timing.

Bramshott · 18/06/2007 14:37

Soooooo. I think everyone except me and EM (who are coming in my birthing-mobile ) are getting the train. That said, can you really face the walk down to the front, or shall we meet somewhere else? Be honest now . . .

AngeG · 18/06/2007 20:50

I am a little concerned to be honest Bramshott. My section scar is still quite sore if I walk a lot without the puschair so am a bit worried with pushing that as well it might be a bit too much. Having said that I'm sure I'll manage if needs be to see you all again

Bramshott · 19/06/2007 21:12

I had a sneaky peak at a map today, and there seem to be gardens "Victoria Gardens" sort of all down the middle of the city, and much nearer to the station. Might be a better place? Will do some more research.
