As I have no brain and often no time to read all of the other thread, I thought I'd start a new one for SE meet up plans.

The questions:

  1. Can we all get to Brighton? Is that the best place?
  2. What weekdays could you do without big ones? Failing that, a Saturday.
  3. Who fancies a trip to West Wittering with the big ones in the summer hols? Let's book it in early.

For me - Yep, Brighton good, although I don't know it very well so I'm hoping someone else will suggest where to meet. Also happy if others have other suggestions - Arundel?!?
Best mid-week days for me are probably Tues, Wed or Fri when I can book N in to her nursery for a longer session. Monday also okay but would have to make it fairly speedy to be back by 3.00.

Oooooh, exciting!

Sexonknackeredlegs · 04/06/2007 11:52

Ange, I will be getting the train from Eastleigh, as this is only 5 minutes from me. There are direct trains leaving at 9.53 getting in at 11.12 or 10.53 getting in at 12.12, so only 1 hour 19 mins which is really good.

Not sure where it stops on the way. Which is your local station? I did a search on trains from Woolston (WaspElly) and Hedge End, and there are no direct trains - you have to change at least once.

Sexonknackeredlegs · 04/06/2007 11:58

Ange, the train I am getting stops at Fareham at 10.07 or 11.07. Is Fareham near you?

AngeG · 04/06/2007 12:38

Fareham is perfect for me. Thanks SOKL

Sexonknackeredlegs · 04/06/2007 12:40

Fab. So depending on what time everyone is meeting, we can get the same train.

WaspElly · 04/06/2007 15:40

Hiya - Will probs be Soton central or Airport parkway, which one fits on the stops? Also major Q. Do I bring cumbersome [ie not very foldable] pushchair or just wing it with the sling, bearing in mind it's going to be for a while? Decisions decisions!

Sexonknackeredlegs · 04/06/2007 18:35

Hi WaspElly, the trains from Southampton to Brighton don't go direct, ie you have to change at least once. The train from Eastleigh is direct, but only calls at Fareham station and beyond.

Ange is getting on at Fareham.

AngeG · 04/06/2007 18:59

I wondered the same Waspelly and was going to ask advice but you beat me to it
I have a bulky Graco pushchair whick does fold up, but not sure if it's going to be too much of a pain.

What are you going to do SOKL?

EllieK · 04/06/2007 19:05

i'll have the pushchair as Joe is too heavy for me to manage more than half hour in the sling (12lbs 9oz ) and mine isn't all that foldable, it is obviously, but is quite big once folded.

is it likely to be that busy on the trains that we'd need to fold them?

can you tell i live in the back of beyond where trains only have 2 passengers at most?

Sexonknackeredlegs · 04/06/2007 20:23

Hi there. I will be bringing the Maclaren buggy which folds reasonably ok. I don't get on with the slings at all!

CaptainDippySuperBoobs · 04/06/2007 23:28

I'll be taking my pram for sure. You won't have to fold them down - they have special compartments on trains for prams / wheelchairs these days..... It'll be fine - sling for the day would be v.restricting, iykwim!!?

EllieK · 04/06/2007 23:51

what you mean, Dippster, is that you can't go on those beach fling-you-in-the-air attractions with a baby in a sling?

CaptainDippySuperBoobs · 05/06/2007 08:08

Exactly!

AngeG · 05/06/2007 09:33

Sling for me then I don't like those rides. I'll gladly watch all the pushchairs though

EllieK · 05/06/2007 16:15

if you do bring the sling Ange i'm sure we can fit 2 babies in one pushchair if needed later in the day, i've done that before!

YvieE · 05/06/2007 17:40

I hope you have a lovely day ladies, I really wish i could make it as Brighton is about 35 mins from East croydon which is near where i live. 22nd is the day before my birthday, so am hoping DP has something planned. Fingers crossed that we have gorgeous weather.

EllieK · 05/06/2007 19:08

will he not be at work on the Friday Yvie? or could you drop hints about wanting a daytrip to Brighton?

CaptainDippySuperBoobs · 05/06/2007 19:53

Aw, that's a shame, Yvie You'll have to come to something else we do later in rhe year!

Bramshott · 05/06/2007 21:35

Ah yes, had forgotten about all you guys coming on the train when I suggested picnic. Fish and chips it is then.

CaptainDippySuperBoobs · 05/06/2007 23:33

Yum!

Sexonknackeredlegs · 11/06/2007 08:14

OK ladies, what time and where are we going to meet in Brighton? x

Bramshott · 12/06/2007 11:00

EM and I will probably be able to get there for about 11.30. Shall we meet at the pier?

OP posts:
AngeG · 12/06/2007 11:54

How far is the pier from the train station? I don't know brighton at all!

EllieK · 12/06/2007 11:56

oddly enough i have no idea!

EllieK · 12/06/2007 11:59

look here, which station?
