laughalot · 24/05/2007 09:10

Vino I have emialed you hope you dont mind.

Wilkie · 24/05/2007 09:21

Bloody hell - I nip off to do things for an hour and you all come out of the bloody woodwork.

LL - hope the squits are better today

MrsC - I too have a bug 'thing' - not to your extent but won't go round to someone's house if they have been sick. My phobia is sickness rather than the other end I can't bear being sick. It really rather upsets me. I panicked the other day cos J was being more sick than usual and I had kissed him on the mouth

theUrbanDryad · 24/05/2007 09:44

morning all! sorry haven't been on for ages, have been busy sorting things with dh. i've decided that i need to gie him a chance, so i'm going to leave it as long as i can, give him some time to sort himself out. but if he's not shaped up by the time LO is older then we're off! i think he was so shocked that things had got to this stage! also, speaking to my RL friends with babies similar ages as Z it is very common to go through this stage with OH.

well, yesterday we went to dh's godfather's memorial service, was the first time i'd seen MIL since the Incident, and it went really well! there was no mention of the Inicident, no mention of cool boiled water. i had forced dh to read up on blw before we went so he was on my side about that, and the only thing there was a little bit of a murmur about was his jabs, as she knew a family who had MMR, and the child ended up in respite care but i just sort of said "Hmm...yeah, well he won't be having them yet," and we left it at that! am so very pleased though, i hate falling out with people! we are going down to stay on Sunday evening, FIL bought a travel cot as he was so keen to see Z, but i think the travel cot is going to be used for bouncing, not sleeping! Z has figured out how to bounce himself on it, little swine! he also can swivel himself round now, i found him the wrong way round in his cot at half 3 this morning! he also rolls himself over to inconvenient places, like right by the bin in the kitchen this morning! apparently, dh was walking by 8 months () so i should expect a mobile baby i think!

sorry, no time for personals, will catch up with y'all later! xx

vinorouge · 24/05/2007 10:33

Wilkie - hope you feel better soon, maybe the ILs playing with J today will give you a chance to put your feet up. Ace news about the 12 hour sleep.....not that I'm jealous or anything!!!

LaL - don't mind you emailing me at all but not received anything yet. It's kateleese at aol dot com.

DH - perhaps Ellen isn't so long then cos her 3-6 month sleepsuits are still plenty long enough.

Lizz - ta for the tip about tesco argentinian red. May well be worth a trip to tesco for me!

UD - glad you are feeling happier about things with DH and MIL.

2 people I know of have had babies yesterday. I feel brody again cos Ellen seems so big. I want a tiny tiny again!!!

Lo stirring - time for feed

theUrbanDryad · 24/05/2007 10:37

oooh those wine lovers out there, there is a Tesco Scilian red for £2.99 which is very drinkable. doesn't need to breathe, you can just open it and drink it, straight from the bottle. or you could use a glass. if you were being posh, like....

canmummy · 24/05/2007 11:04

Morning everyone! Lo down for a sleep at last so catching up on here. She seems to have dropped her 8.30/9.00 sleep so the last couple of days when she cries around 10 I think she's tired and put her down to sleep. Only she's not tired she's hungry how bad a mummy am I?

UD/Lizz - nice tips about the wine. My dh is a wine snob he's had some training/education about wine so knows his stuff. We have a garage full of wine and I bought him some labels to hang on the ones I shouldn't touch lol! But might get some for my own stock we've got some tesco wine vouchers to spend....

Wilkie - wow! Great news at the sleeping through!

JodieG - not got even a quarter as much done as you this morning - can I use the excuse it's raining? In fact a builder came to do some repairs to our conservatory and had to go again because it's too wet. We've only been waiting 5 months for him

LAL - glad you're feeling better

RGee - we're off to Almeria in spain and can't wait. Nothing fits me so I'm sure I'll look like a lump of lard but never mind!

MrsC - glad to hear somebody else had a laparoscopy and it was ok. I'm a bit worried now. Also you made me think will I still be able to wear my belly button piercing or do you think it will be ruined? I went to great lengths to keep it open through my pregnancy as I'd never be brave enough to have it done again

Hello everyone else.

katwith3kittens · 24/05/2007 12:21

Please no more talk about belly buttons. I have this irrational thing about them. I cant even beat to look at my own ! My phobia was made even worse when LO ended up with an infected umbilicus and I had to put cream in it every nappy change. Yeuch.

DH sorry to hear your news, but its great its been diagnosed as`early as it has. Should be straightforward.

Cant remember anymore personals, and anyway I get them all mixed up anyhow.

Not started weaning yet(22 weeks) and probably wont for a while as LO has been pretty grumpy for the past week with a cold. Poor thing just needs to blow his nose to get rid of it, so we've been having some bad nights recently with all his snuffling, poor thing. Although I have just discovered he was given a hula hoop to suck on last week ... great

Whats this tongue thrust thing about then jodie ? ( i know, its pathetic this is my third, I should know what to do now

Very sombre mood last night in this red household today. Apologies for pathetic typing, its taken me an age to do it left handed. Have a lovely weekend.

JodieG1 · 24/05/2007 12:55

Tongue thrust is a protective mechanism that all babies have - but it can be overridden by spoon-feeding. Their tongues will push out anything they can't handle. As a baby gets older, its tongue-thrust reflex is triggered further back in the mouth until it eventually disappears.

I took that text from here

laughalot · 24/05/2007 13:42

Oh my good night whatever next now we cant feed our babies with spoons it makes me laugh.

JodieG1 · 24/05/2007 13:48

I didn't actually read it just googled for tongue thrust reflex and took that article as it explained it well. I just don't like using text without linking the original article. I spoonfed both dd and ds1 and I don't belive it will have any detrimental effects on them. Ds2 will be blw but tbh I cba to puree things anyway lol, 3rd baby and all that

2Happy · 24/05/2007 14:52

Afternoon all.

UD - good to hear from you. I'm glad mil has softened, here's hoping the weekend goes well too. FWIW I think you're right about relationships and babies of this age - the chronic fatigue, the mum starting to feel a little trapped, the dad starting to think the woman should be doing more (), all that stuff. I really hope if you give him time things settle down, but meantime rant away!

Can - sorry to hear about needing the op

Kw3k - I hate belly buttons too, eurgh, but not quite phobic. Instead I have a nice, normal, common, rational phobia. Of spiral staircases!!!

Wilkie - congrats on the sleep!! Fantastic news! Really hope he manages it tonight as well.

Lal - hope you feel better x. ds1 sleeping a bit better the last 2 nights [fingers crossed emoticon!] thanks

Lizzz - good luck with the signing tomorrow, have you a move date?

Talking of moves - Galmum??!!

Jodie - you shame me! I managed to do some cookig, then er went back to bed! Is your voice back yet?!

RGee - enjoy the cricket!! I don't know that the weather's going to be great tho

PCF - fab weight loss

Trixy - have you disappeared again??

Is the tongue thrust reflex the reason ds2 keeps spitting the blardy dummy out again?!

Ah well, dh and I have finally (after nearly 16w!!!) er done the deed as it were. I should have smelt a rat when dh "kindly" offered to sit with ds2 and bring him through to the bedroom when he was asleep! The bugger wasn't going to use anything tho, I had to physically chuck him off to, um, put a coat on after saying several times "I do not want another baby in 9 months time"! . At least that answers whether or not I'm really broody!!!

OP posts:
Shimmer · 24/05/2007 15:55

Afternoon all. Finally got some time to get on and catch up with you all! Feel quite lonely and left out when i can't get on for a day or 2 (and possibily abit of as well)

Kw3k - belly buttons?? 2Happy - spiral staircases?? Actually there is a spiral staircase escalator at a shopping centre near where i used to live and it always used to make me feel sick going down it! My bf has a phoebia of wooden spoons!! Well, maybe not a phobia, she can look at them but absolutely will not touch one.

Wilkie - fabulous about J's long night Hope he keeps it up! For about the last week Freddie has been waking up at 10 to 6 exactly each morning He used to make it through til 6:30 without too much problem, so I only think he's getting hungrier?...

PCF - well done with all the weight loss! Over a stone! I'm so

Ohh better go. DP's supposed to be entertaining F, but he appears to be doing quite a lot of shouting and crying...better go see what they're up to. We took him for his 3rd jabs this morning (so horrible ), so being a bit extra protective today.

More personals in a bit........

Lizzzombie · 24/05/2007 17:03

Congratulations 2Happy! Dont know where you got the energy from for that one, to quote Boy George, I'd rather have a cup of tea.

hattie2 · 24/05/2007 17:10

Just thought I'd add mine to the list of irrational phobias - walnuts and £2 coins

Lizzzombie · 24/05/2007 17:11

Butterflies and moths make me feel so ill. All fluttery and delicate...ugh. Make my skin crawl!

theUrbanDryad · 24/05/2007 17:37

i hate slugs.

actually, i wrote that as "i hate sugs", then realised i quite like madness!

MrsCarrot · 24/05/2007 17:47

Wooden spoons, Shimmer, that's very odd? I would say not being able to touch one constitutes a phobia to be honest At least all your jabs are out of the way now, we haven't started yet, but, I think the first ones will be done the week after next when half term's over.

2HAPPY- Well done on the deed!! I must confess that Mr Carrot (how nauseating!) has only had any kind of action on his wedding night. and then I thought well I really ought to make the effort

MrsCarrot · 24/05/2007 17:50

people licking their yoghurt tops makes my skin crawl, nylon sleeping bags also have a strange effect, particularly brown and orange ones

trixymalixy · 24/05/2007 18:29

Hi 2happy, I'm still here, haven't disappeared, just been busy.

We finally got the carpets laid upstairs after (kind of) finishing off the work upstairs that was started before Xmas! So I've been putting stuff back in it's proper places. It's so nice not to have a mattress in the lounge anymore and stuff piled up everywhere.

had a lovely day today. was at baby massage in the morning and met a girl who lives in the next street who has a baby the same age as DS, so we're going to go round for a coffee next week.

Then went to a children's zoo in the afternoon with a couple of other friend's who have older LOs. Was a bit wet and DS a bit small to be interested in the zoo, but at least it was something different to do.

can understand phobias of slugs, moths and spiral staircases, but £2 coins and wooden spoons!!!

2happy, we still haven't done the deed yet either, or should i say we haven't done the full deed as I haven't started taking my pill again yet, but have done other stuff IYKWIM .

Wilkie - am so at LO sleeping through!

EAH - I can't believe you clean your bathroom and polish your funiture every day!! how on earth do you find the time?!? you would be shocked at the state of my house.

DH - sorry to hear your news

UD - glad your MIL is coming round and that the bf picnic went well.

Jodie - glad someone else is up as often in the night as I am!

hi to everyone else!

Lizzzombie · 24/05/2007 18:41

Hmm, also I hate it when people lick their ice cream in a gross way. That turns my stomache, seeing it on their tongues. Or when there is still some on the spoon when they take it out their mouths. ugh.
Ant type of bad eating manners actually. I have been known to gag at the table when sat opposite a person who has discusting table habits!

Wilkie · 24/05/2007 19:00

Hello. Back from day at ILs. It was really nice actually. They are very sweet. They have offered to have J for me one day next week - yey!

I know we're not supposed to complain about the weather but bugger me, it's so sticky and hot. J's room is like an oven measuring 27 degrees. I daren't open the window as my neighbours are noisy and tinker with cars in their driveway so have left his door open which means I have to be quiet. Has anyone else found that they really cannot tolerate heat since having the LOs? My body thermostat seems to be permanently turned on full. I sleep with no quilt on, even on a cold night....am constantly sweating and sticky. Yuk!

Phobias - hmmm, mine would have to be: vomit, creepy crawlies of any kind and honeycomb. Honeycomb makes my skin absolutely crawl. Urgh....!

UD - nice to have you back mate and glad to hear you are sticking things out with DH. Almost everyone I know has gone through a sticky patch at about this stage with LOs. Fingers crossed it works out.

Not much to report. I had something to ask but has totally gone...

Sorry for no personals but, in truth, I can't be arsed to scroll up and down tonight. Sorry

trixymalixy · 24/05/2007 19:13

Lizz - i have a real thing about table manners as well. i can't watch any adverts involving food as they generally talk or chew with their mouth open. Can't stand people chewing gum for the same reason. eugh!

theUrbanDryad · 24/05/2007 19:43

i hate people slurping their soup. makes me stomach turn over in the grossest way!!

Wilkie · 24/05/2007 19:53

Have added some new pics to my profile.

UD - are you on MSN??

RGee · 24/05/2007 19:53

Hi all!

All your phobias - absolutely pmsl at belly button, wooden spoon and £2 coins Can sort of understand the sprial staircases - when I was young I thought I'd fall through the stairs (what with me being so tslim ). Honeycomb?? Mind you, I'm not a big fan of maltesers.
I have a gross belly button story Kat so skip to the next paragraph. After my c-section, my belly button was full of dried blood. Thing is, it was an outy whilst pregnant, but after lo was born, went back to an inny. Presume whilst under general anastheatic (sp) blood gathered in my belly button. So, even now I am trying to pick dried blood out from the depths of my belly button. It won't wash out, just seems to be able to pick bits out at various intervals. Nice huh. Actually it can be strangely satisfying. Am I gross?
I have a food related hatred (rahter than phobia) - I HATE it when people leave crumbs in butter, or scrape back marge they haven't used back into the tub. URGGHHH!!!

Hi UD. Glad things are a little better with MIL.

2Happy - bet your DH is happy today

Trixy - sounds like you had a really hectic day today. Go and put your feet up!
Jodie - hope you put your feet up after breakfast!

Lizz - good luck tomorrow with the house stuff. Thansk for the wine recommendation too. Might have to investigate. Although DH came home today via Majestics so our booze cabinet is now restocked ready for a hammering this weekend.

Does anyone normally watch Big Brother btw? Trash telly but strangely addictive. It starts again next Wednesday at 9pm. Yup, a clash with the Apprentice.....
