Oh dear I think I may end up with a daughter with more clothes than me!

katwith3kittens · 01/06/2007 23:37

DH Get down to your M&S tomorrow first thing, funnily enough, yesterday I just bought the M&S dress in your earlier link for my DD and paid the princely sum of £3.00 !!!

They have got a seasonal sale on and the autograph dress which was originally £36 pounds was hanging on a rail with other sale items but hadnt been marked down. I asked an assistant how much it had been reduced to and she said she thought it was £3. I shouted back THREE POUNDS ??? in disbelief and then took it to the till, where it scrolled up as £5. "Oh" I said, "the assistant over there thought it was £3, never mind still a bargain" and then assistant number 2 she said she would do it for £3 too !

Unfortunately I got aged 8 for my DD so perhaps a little too big for your DD now !

Get yourself over to M&S Gemini ASAP hopefully they will have your size in too

BTW how does she manage to do so much damage to her clothes ??

Morning all! You were chatty last night!

So, using Jodie's method of personals, here we go....

2Happy - loved the toothpaste squeezing incident! Did you get some play doh? Is that actually any easier to clear up than toorhpaste?

Smallone - welcome! Am amazed you have managed to refrain from posting until now! You ignore that Wilkie's comment Just wait til I see you on Tuesday Wilkie

EAH / Wilkie - pmsl at your Chinese menus. Mine would be sweet & sour chicken and chilli beef!! We'd skip the chips though. Portions too big at our place and that would be going too far

Dragon - looking forward to hearing what you buy for the wedding for Ruth. We have 6 weddings this summer (and I thought I'd passed the wedding stage), to which lo is invited to two. Thankfully, I reckon I can get away with one outfit for me (all different groups of friends), but have no idea what to get for Pippa - whether to just get a nice summer dress (plenty about, cheap, and already own a v gorgeous one) or a fancy party dress (v cute but expensive and limited wear). I think one might have to be 6-9 and one 9 -12 months anyway the rate she's growing. Could you change Ruth just before the actual wedding to minimise puking?

EAH - thanks for those links to Adams. some nice stuff there I may investigate further. When do all the summer sales start? We were given an absolutely gorgeous dress from Matalan so think I may go with that for one of the weddings. The other wedding is in Ireland, and there will be quite a few youngsters there. Do I go for the party dress just to confirm her position as cutest baby in the world?

Kat - thanks for your M&S tip! May investigate.

Lal _ brlilliant toe sucking!! Great photo!

Carrot - I guess your problem was you stopped eating carrots and started on currants. Carrots contain more vitamin c to ward off the cold Hope you feel better soon.

Off to get my hair cut later today. First time for over 6 months!! I'm so lazy when it comes to my personal appearance (good job I'm a natural beauty then ).

Wilkie · 02/06/2007 11:22

Morning. Quiet on here today.

I am enjoying a child-free day today as the ILs have taken J to theirs for the day so I can crack on and blitz the house. I am very proud, so far I have cleaned, hoovered and carpet shampooed the bedroom, nursery, bathroom and landing. Hung two loads of washing out and am just about to start on the lounge....

J slept RIGHT through last night with no wakings AT ALL. Slept from 7pm-7.30am. Yey! Not getting too excited yet but hope that we are progressing in the right direction and he proved my theory that he really doesn't need a night feed anymore.

Ahhh, all these little dresses you are looking at. Wish I had a little girl to dress up in frilly outfits. Hmmm, maybe I could do that with J anyway.....??

Not much planned today. Weather is glorious so once I have finished the housework I might sit in the garden, read my book and have a cold drink.

BTW, if anyone wants to be scared sh*tless and enjoy a really good suspense film. Try 'THEM'. It is utterly utterly terrifying but not blood, guts and gore. The cinematography (sp?) is amazing and I felt emotionally exhausted after watching it from behind a cushion.

Shimmer · 02/06/2007 14:28

Hi all. Well done with all the cleaning Wilkie. I've just about managed to iron and put a way a load of clothes, but that's it for today Gorgeous day here too. I love the sun

Love looking at all the girly dresses DH! Maybe one day i'll have a little girl to dress up... Freddie sleeps in a grobag and i always refer to that as his nightdress, which DP doesn't really approve of!

6 weddings in a summer Rgee?! I don't think I even have that many groups of friends!! Good luck with the hair cut. I always love having my hair done - makes me feel like a different person!

Get well soon Mrs Carrot (and anyone else who's still a got cold)!!

We got Freddie a bumbo and a door bouncer yesterday, both of which seemed to meet with his lordship's approval. Specially the door bouncer, which he loved, and was bouncing up and down and spinning around in for ages chuckling to himself

Dragonhart · 02/06/2007 19:22

kat- went to m&s but no seasonal sale apart from in Per Una . Must have all gone before I got there. Well done on the bargin though! Dont know about the clothes. I think that when I leave the room, she gets up, runs around and when she hears me coming, quickly sits down again like andy from Little Britain!

Rgee- Wow 6 weddings! Think I will do the old switcheroo when we get there so that she isnt sick or she doesnt rip it or something when we are not looking!

Wilkie- Well done on the sleeping through! And all the tidying. Very at the day off!

Shimmer- my mum always puts on lipstick when she leaves the house and always insists on pretending to put it on Luke too. My DH is not impressed by it!!

Had Dsis and BIL here today and went for a carvery. It was gorgeous but I am soooooooo full. Also Luke has been weeing all over the house

2Happy · 02/06/2007 19:26

OK let's do a little survey shall we?

Imagine you are now a grandparent and you've very kindly offered to look after your 2 grandsons for 4 hours to let your kid & spouse go climb a hill. The time comes for the toddler's nap and you tell him it's time for his bedtime stories upstairs. He says "no, read outside". Do you:

a) think I'm the adult here and I know you're exhaused, so I'm just going to say "no, we're going to read them upstairs", or do you
b) say "ok!" then wonder why the toddler won't then go to sleep when you take him up?

mmm, gripe water, used to use that with ds1, PCF, I love the smell. Dill, is it?

Hope you've all had had a good day in the sun. We went for a walk, then got lost, then dh's great suggestion was to cut back across a potato field that got muddier until my flip flop stuck and I started swearing

Had to go to Sainsburys on the way home with muddy feet while they sat in the car. It was hideous in there, people arguing over the last iceberg. Seriously, they were! A hot day in England and everyone runs out to buy chicken wings and iceberg lettuce apparently..

I wanted sea bass. I waited three years for him to fillet it and searched length and breadth of the store for potato rostis.

Now, we are so used to following the same layout in a supermarket that if you do what I did, go to the loo at the other end and start shopping in the freezer section, it's a bloody nightmare and you can't work out where anything is.

When I finally found a croquette, a rosti was too advanced for sainsburys, it was stiffed full of butter with a wheat crust and I felt rage, I tell you, rage!

So, in my rage, I quietly walked out back to the car and hissed, just drive, to dp who looked worried and screeched off as if I'd nicked something and looked decidely pissed off as I informed him that I'd left all of the shopping in the cheese aisle as they'd put bloody butter in the croquettes.

I might think it was pmt if I had my periods back, maybe they are coming, but I do not class this as a good day. I still have a cold. Another bird came in my house and creeped me out...

here

I am aware I am wingeing, and I do not care. I am drinking champagne to cheer myself up.

Thank you, Wilkie, DH has just brought me some dairy free chocolate ice cream. Absolutely bloody disgusting. Sent him back to the freezer straightaway for some raspberry sorbet

ellieandhattie · 03/06/2007 13:14

trixymalixy · 03/06/2007 15:55

Hi all,

had a very busy weekend. Was out IN TOWN (!!!) with some girlfriends. Was a bit of a shocker as it's probably about a year since I've been out in town. we went for some noodles and sushi and then to A BAR!!! We came home at 10.30 because the music was too loud and we couldn't get a seat tho !

AIBU to find it funny though that DH couldn't get DS to sleep despite me saying to him for months that he should really try to put DS down to sleep more often so that DS is used to it!!!

then had BIL, SIL and neice staying.

Wilkie -I was very impressed with the cranial osteopath. It's a bit early to tell yet whether it has made that much difference and we have another appointment next week, but I am very hopeful.

She said he has sinus congestion which is making it difficult to breathe when he is feeding and his diaphraghm (sp?) is tight so he can't eat a lot. He also holds his breathe when he has wind which makes it more painful for him. Hence the fussiness while feeding.

He was absolutely terrible the day after, really tired and grumpy and wanting to feed all the time, although that could have been a growth spurt. But yesterday he had two naps of an hour and a half (!!) during the day and I didn't have to spend 20 mins getting him to sleep at night.

Am very at your DS's sleeping btw.

Smallone - welcome to the thread. It's a BT alarm and you can record your own alarm on it. DH loves Peter Kay and there's an episode of Phoenix nights where they have a car alarm that says that. So Dh found a recording of it on the internet and recorded it onto our alarm!!

LaL - The toe-sucking picture is just adorable!

Dragonhart · 03/06/2007 20:10

2happy- I think that grandparents (esp nans) have a kind of amnesia when it comes to looking after children. I am sure that my mum didnt let us do all the things she lets Luke do. She also does the classic of giving him something sugary that makes him hyper then making a sharp exit! Hope he got to sleep eventually.

Pink- god, I love Gripe Water! My uncle gives me a liqueur called kummel which taste just like it. mmmmm!

Carrot- Bad day?! Hope today was better.

So can I just ask, what does a co actually do? It seems to be magic or something?

Luke is doing really well with his potty training today. No wees on the floor, only accidents when he wasnt sat on the potty properly then one on the chair (which was covered luckily) when he fell asleep while I was feeding Ruth. He was so pleased with himself each time too Pink (well done to Alex btw!) So fingers crossed tomorrow is as good as I am on my own.

trixymalixy · 03/06/2007 20:22

A CO manipulates something.... erm I dunno.

I couldn't actually see what she was doing, just looked like he was sitting on her lap but DS was burping and farting away

Dragonhart · 03/06/2007 20:25

Is it the head they fiddle with? Or the neck? I dont understand how they can tell you all the stuff they tell you by just feeling the bumps on their head but I know so many people who swear by them.

Wilkie · 03/06/2007 20:45

DH - dull post coming up. The CO we saw was excellent and explained exactly what he was doing. Basically, there is a current/pulse that runs through the body every 15 seconds, to begin with they are feeling for this pulse by putting their hands on the head. They can feel whether or not there is any interruption in this pulse with their hands. If there is an interruption it suggests that there is a problem somewhere.

They then feel the head (the different bumps etc are for different part of the body) and the torso. Somehow (I don't know how - it is similar to reflexology but for the head rather than feet) they can tell where the problem lays.

When JJ went, he immediately picked up some stiffness where the remoulding of his head had not been complete after birth which was giving him headaches and sticky eye.

They then gently work with the body (again I'm not sure how) by gently pressing and manipulating various pressure points around the head, neck and face.

It is amazing to watch. The CO had his eyes closed whilst he was doing it. J was screaming but then once he had 'hit the spot', it was like he had 'switched J off'.

HTH!

MrsCarrot · 03/06/2007 21:18

Feeling little less grumpy today thanks!

I'm not sure exactly how C.O works, it seems to be very subtle adjustments to the fluids in spine/cranium/sacrum, depending on the problem, that in turn helps the body restore its natural rhythms and heal itself.

The first time I had a treatment I thought he was having a laugh, barely touched me, but then after two sessions my dodgy shoulder of a year was gone. F has had no problems feeding on the left side, used to scream during it, and now he's fine.

It's been a lovely day here, and dd learnt to ride her bike today. Hurray. It's so lovely when you see their excitement at acheiving it, although I wish I hadn't worn flip flops, half the skin is gone off my toes!

laughalot · 03/06/2007 21:44
