you choose - for you or for your bubba

I can't believe the May thread is so excited that their babies are arriving. That time in our lives seems like soooooo long ago .

dolly - we have something like this bed ours folds down into a round disk sort of thing. Mine is more for napping when out visiting or at the park etc - lots of netting etc to keep mossies out and breeze in.

foxcub · 03/06/2007 12:27

I love Vertbaudet too!! They've got some great boys clothes and they're such good value

kittyhas6 · 03/06/2007 17:25

Eids, can you zip them in to stop escaping?

Hope everyones' had a lovely day.
Sorry the weather is a bit miserable with you Rosy. It was supposed to be really crappy here this week but since weds morning it has been glorious. We were back on the beach again today, there were some really big waves which ds1 loved, riding on his body board. He's exhausted now!

Sazzy, Ronnie's had a cold dor what seems like weeks. He's fretful in the night and wakes at 5.30 completely bunged up, hungry but unable to feed .

Dolly, whereabouts do you want to go on holiday?

foxcub · 03/06/2007 19:15

What did everyone do today then?

DollyPopsOut · 03/06/2007 19:51

we went to the park, played in the garden and fed. Big time. It's so hot that DD2 seems permanently thirsty, poor love.

Thanks for the info about the cot everyone. Foxy, would love to borrow yr pop up cot if that's ok . DD2 us about the same size as Monti so if he can fit lengthways, so should she. Thanks so much for that.

Don't know where we are going yet Kitty. Does anyone have any suggestions? I quite fancy Italy but only somewhere which doesn't involve driving from the airport. We are all pale and interesting so need somewhere not too roasting hot.

Am off for a bit of light TB and a glass of wine. HAd a text from mossy last night as we were weeping over Dr Who! I can't believe that I am so emotional about it! She said feeding was going a bit better but she was knackered.

XXXXX

DollyPopsOut · 03/06/2007 19:52

Hm, am actually going to have a bit of light TV rather than consumption . It's the one handed typing whilst my norks are being milked by the soopa doopa bionic machine which causes all the typos.

divastrop · 03/06/2007 20:52

had a scary moment before when dp thought dd2 had killed the computer(scary for me,that is,he has his own so doesnt care).luckily she hadnt.dp would have been able to sort it but it would have taken a while and i would have been getting mn withdrawal symptoms

today we went to town so ds2 and dd1 could get scooters, then we came home and got dd2(who'd been asleep)and went to the park round the corner.the nasty children dont go there anymore but im not bothered now as i have 4 weeks of pent up PMT to unleash on them.it was quite warm, rained a little bit,but not much.

i have had to start bathing Elsie in the big bath with dd2 now,as shes got about a foot longer in the last week and no longer fits in the baby bath.i did start putting her upstairs in her moses basket when she was 9 weeks but stopped as she had a bad cough,so ive had to start taking her up again so she gets used to it before i have to start putting her in the cot.

where does the time go?one minute they are little newborns who want to feed all the time, next they are smiley, sociable little people who want to play.

then before you know it,they are hormonal gobshites answering you back and telling you how unfair everything is

foxcub · 03/06/2007 22:04

Diva

My Ds aged 6 is bolshy as anything!

Elsie must be big !!!

Dolly - when R U going on hols?
How about northern Italy - the south gets very hot in summer, but the northern bit is much cooler (e.g. Venice?)

Remind me about the cot when you want to come and get it. If I head out your way I'll let you know. We often go to SE London as we still have friends there, but haven't been since Monti was born. Due to go to DH2000 for single jabs too, but Lord only know when that'll happen...

I walked into Richmond and bought some CDs, Monti woke up in HMV but didn't cry at all during the whole trip

Then did some gardening (first time in a year ) and nagged Dh to do some too.

Then bath, food and bed for DCs...had a bottle of beer and played Janis Joplin, while BF Monti

What did everyone else do? I just love barmy hot weather

spongecake · 03/06/2007 22:20

diva, lol at your post about babies growing so fast i haven't got my wedding dress yet, am going to look in july- cutting it fine i know but hope to be slimmer

sazzy, just realised you were burgled! how awful, thank goodness you and eliot are ok.

sorry to moan about this AGAIN but my ma and sister visited yesterday and stayed for 1.5 hrs -really worth the 4 hour round trip. Its because i said i needed to bf so they jumped up and left. felt v lonely in the afternoon after that.

hope everyone has had a nice w/e in the sunshine..love being on maternity leave in this weather

Shrinkinglily · 03/06/2007 22:24

barmy! pah! chucking down here. Went to my sis this afternoon and the children played outside in the rain and got drenched then came in and we all danced madly to Moby.

spongecake · 03/06/2007 22:29

rosy, that sounds v cool day. i bopped to the killers myself

has anyone else got a baby who is awake and wants to play from 5.30 am til 8/9 in the evening? am getting v exhausted - he doesn;t cry, unless he is hungry, but laughs and squeals.. its lovely as he is so cute but tips welcome!

eidsvold · 03/06/2007 22:34

kitty - my two older girls have had a cold/cough for weeks it seems. Dd3 had a touch of it but it seems to have passed.

had a lazy day - went and visited my mum and then we just hung out a home. However had an eventful night - had to take dd2 to the hospital - she had a really bad case of croup and so off we went for some steriods!! got back about midnight and then my baby who usually sleeps til at least five decided she wanted to wake and feed every two hours!!

kittyhas6 · 03/06/2007 22:38

Spongecake Ronnie is awake then but cries CONSTANTLY unless he's feeding. I can't wait until he's a little more sociable. We do have 'conversations' when I talk to him and he coos back and sticks his tongue out, sweet!

kittyhas6 · 03/06/2007 22:39

Eids, poor dd2, is she feeling better now. Croup is horrible.

eidsvold · 03/06/2007 22:46

kitty - we found it really strange we never had incidents of it when living in the UK but dd1 went through a winter of lots of bouts of croup. THe first time was scary - she was fine - put her to bed and she wakes in the middle of the night barely able to breathe with this horrible barking cough. We actually called the ambulance and then when they said what it was - I was like - oh okay that is what it sounds like. After a few bouts we actually got the medication prescribed so we could use it with dd1.

But not nice - must have been to do with the weather change - lots of little babies in A and E last night with varying degrees of croup.

Just have to keep dd2 away from dd3 now!!

eidsvold · 03/06/2007 22:47

she still has a horrible cough and runny nose and a bit subdued. She is funny - she tells you - I am not feeling very well or I feel poorly!!

TheBlonde · 03/06/2007 22:48

Glad the Friday meet up went well. Sorry to have missed it. Still haven't driven the car

Dolly - apparently mothercare do repairs but there is also a guy in Barnes who might be worth a look

Eids - sorry to hear about the croup, it's awful

spongecake · 03/06/2007 22:49

just looked up croup- eids that sounds really scary, hope she is ok

am v worried now as didn;t actually know about croup and think have maybe been ignoring occasional barking cough as nothing much and he hasn;t done it for ages. still at least i know what to do now..

eidsvold · 03/06/2007 22:52

that is right spongecake. People have since told me just to run a hot shower and build up the steam - that is supposed to help open the airways - but it did not work with dd1. Just a dose of steriod medication which helps open the airways.

TheBlonde · 03/06/2007 22:58

Sponge - when DS had it I was convinced someone had let the dogs in his room, I honestly didn't realise it was him crying until I went up there

Mossie · 04/06/2007 09:35

Eids - "lots of netting to keep mossies out" - charming!

Kitty, Bertie is quite a cry-ish baby too, unless he is either feeding or (very occasionally) sleeping. Although recently I have finally discovered something that he likes that isn't being plonked on a boob - he likes going naked on his changing mat and kicking about sans nappy! Finally, something else!

Was going to write more but my sausages are spitting under the grill, Bertie's been awake since four this morning and has finally gone to sleep so I thought I'd have a nice brekkie...

Morocco / Diva (and anyone else able to get to Blackpool) - when?

divastrop · 04/06/2007 10:27

my ds2 had croup when he was 4 months old.he had to be assessed at the hospital for a few hours but he was ok.every time he got a cough after that it sounded croupy.

hope your dd is better soon, eids.

mossie-im not sure,i will have to ask dp when im allowed.

sponge-have you asked your mum+sis what their problem is?

i am waiting for the postman atm as i phoned up for new medical cards for me and dp.we need them for id to book the wedding as neither of us have a driving licence or passport.if they turn up today then we can go to the registry office but we hardly ever seem to get any post in this house for some reason, only about twice a week.

Elsie is sitting in her chair chatting away to me and being cute, and dd2 is babbling on about something so i better go and give them some attention.

hope everybody has a lovely day.

Booboobedoo · 04/06/2007 10:52

Happy Monday everyone.

After reading what you all said about croup I've looked it up. DS has got a cough & is very snotty, but I really think it's just a rotten cold.

We bought one of those snot-suckers from Boots: £4 well spent! I use it before each feed, and it's amazing how much comes out!

Piffle: boob is a very appropriate abbr. for me atm (as it would be for all of us I imagine).

Had a lovely, chilled weekend despite LO's cold. DH and I are making friends again.

Really sorry I missed the meet-up. I know what Dolly looks like, but I'd love to see the rest of you and your babies! Maybe we could have a picnic in a London park in the summer hols? Or zip down to Brighton?

Did that depression quiz diva (good luck shanks btw) & all the 'bad' answers tally with the way I felt when PG. Feel like tigger now!

kiwibella · 04/06/2007 13:17

Hi everyone... I have read for a bit - but I'll have to come back.

Diva - a wedding??? I have obviously missed something big . Congrats!!

I'm so pleased to see that you all had a great time at Foxy's. Fox, I sent a quick text but forgot to say who it was from .

Envious of your sunshine and lazy days in the garden. It's been nothing but rain and cold weather here. We had the use of a car today so managed some shopping - I got Kate a "jolly jumper" which has a musical mat underneath. It is like a swing that attaches to the doorframe and the spring helps the baby jumps up and down in it. Of course the adults have had more fun with the mat so far. Kate's got plenty of time .

Sorry to hear your lil one has croup Eids - the air is so crisp. Hope she recovers.

I'm really missing England and the texts about what is happening in reality tv don't help .
