you choose - for you or for your bubba

I can't believe the May thread is so excited that their babies are arriving. That time in our lives seems like soooooo long ago .

wow - just had a phone call. Ages and ages ago - like almost 2 years ago dh and I did some training and the childcare was provided in our homes from a nanny agency. We then signed up with said agency to be a prac family for their trainee nannies. Never heard a word until

today!!

will be meeting trainee nanny on Friday and then sort out her prac placement. So I will have another set of hands to help out!! WOW - am in shock - won't know what to do with myself. Have no idea the ins and outs of her training but know they do a block placement and then one day a week. Feel so lucky!! She is a local girl so hopefully I can cultivate a nany/childminder for when dh and I want to go out - depending on how young she is!!

I'm a little worried she will be put off by our madhouse!! As well as not knowing what to do with another pair of hands!!

Hasan slept loads yesterday and is sleeping now...that boy can sleep! (he's like his father!) So I managed to do 'me stuff' yesterday wrote two pages of my book If anyone is wanting to write a book support threadhere
Mossy, you know you want to. Forget everything, just ignore everyone except Bertie and your writing!

Booboobedoo · 30/05/2007 10:32

Wow, eids, you lucky thing! hope she's someone you can get on with. Re. the poo, I took DS to see my school play last week, and about 10 minutes in he pooed so loudly that everyone in the theatre laughed. [shame]

Glad to hear DD is getting better Piffle. Jonny's got his first cold, and I feel so sorry for him.

Amie:was pirates good? Thinking of going to a baby screening.

spongecake: your pants post made me spray. I'm still in my 16-18 Primark pants. At least if there's a flood I could use one as a sail.

divastrop · 30/05/2007 11:28

eids-that sounds good.

maybe you can write a book?

poetry was more my thing.and songs.but i have been uninspired for ages now
i want to be better.i am starting to rmember that im a person inmy own right now though, which is an improvent,as when im depressed i dont give a s**t about myself,i just think 'im a mum,i have to get on with it'.

dolly-i saw that gordon r thing last night.i thought it was a bit OTT seeing as he ate somethings penis last week.there was a whole thread about it last night.the cappucino thing i mean.

sponge-did they mean actual talking or making 'baby noises'?i know i say that Elsie is 'talking' to me when she goes 'ahgooo' etc.

i have added 2 more pictures to my profile btw

eidsvold · 30/05/2007 11:36

diva I didn't know you were an essex girl I lived in essex for the 4 years I was in the UK! Dd1 is an essex girl - born in southend hospital.

Shrinkinglily · 30/05/2007 13:12

Brilliant pictures Diva.

Booboobedoo · 30/05/2007 13:31

Diva: your family is beautiful. I'm that I won't be able to have that many - you lucky thing.

AmieR · 30/05/2007 13:31

Diva - how long did it take to clear the food up? that's an awesome pic :D

Boo - I found it enjoyable, an easy watch if you know what I mean. Personally, still like the first one the best!

Isn't the weather depressing?

divastrop · 30/05/2007 13:51

thanks

dp gave dd2 ice cream with choc sauce and then i had to clear it up.it only took a few minutes of me muttering swear words under my breath.

the kitten is called fruitcake and belongs to Elsie.

this baby wont drink her bottlei dont know if shes teething, has earache,or if its cos of the teats(shes strggling to get the milk out of fast flow ones!).i really need to go to town and get dd1 some new trainers, but Elsie will probably scream as soon as i put her in the pushchair.

Shrinkinglily · 30/05/2007 14:11

I have a fantasy where I'm writing my bestseller in the study while my angelic children chase butterflies in the garden. My nanny keeps them clean and fed. Then in the evening we all go to see my wonderful exhibition and guess what? Everything has sold!
In reality, i'm in charge of the small beasts, no time to create masterpieces...today ds2 fell twice coming back from collecting dd who wet herself and howled while walking funny home...you know 'the walk'...John Wayne

Shrinkinglily · 30/05/2007 15:20

Ds2 says to a neighbour aged 9 "Do you want to see my baby?"
" We had to go to the hospital to buy that baby."

divastrop · 30/05/2007 16:41

pmsl@your ds rosy,bless!!

i had a very strange experience before.i went to town to get dd1's trainers,a pair of slippers for dp,and some new teats for Elsie.i got the first 2 in the first shop i went in,and the teats in the second shopi didnt have to walk around for hours !

is it a full moon tonight or is there a storm brewing?dp is in a really weird mood.

dd2 is cutting a tooth and keeps screaming(its one of the bottom teeth that most babies get when they are about 8-9 months old).

im in a for a 'fun' night tonight

foxcub · 30/05/2007 23:05

Hi everyone - enjoying reading about your adventures!

Am too exhausted to respond properly but did enjoy reading them anyway...

We broke down on the M25 on the way home from Camber sands tonight AA man is downstairs poking my engine (no sniggering at the back)!

I was in the middle lane doing 82 mph, and the accelerator stopped working, so we got slower and slower and I had to stick the hazard lights on and dodge a line of huge lorries to come off onto the hard shoulder. Mega stress I can tell you, with three LOs in the car! The AA then didn't register I had the kids so "forgot" to prioritise us (which led to me making threatening phone calls to them : "my kids are dehydrating - get here in 10 minutes or I'm calling an embulance" - I always believe in being calm and moderate).

Anyway we were eventually towed back to Richmond and the mechanic guy has just tunred up (I rang them at 6.20pm!!).

DS1 and DD were quite scared but DS2 enjoyed the adventure and gazed around wide eyed all the way home with a look of sheer amusement on his face.

Lucky I BF anyway, as it meant I could feed him in the car.

Lordy - my back and shoulders are all tense now and DH is alseep so can't make him rub them.

....wonder where AA remit ends?

TheBlonde · 30/05/2007 23:32

Fox - sounds awful, glad you are back okay.

Shrinkinglily · 31/05/2007 06:30

Fox what a drama! Glad you were all ok and haven't lost your sense of humour amazingly! Cor my nerves would've been wrecked!

eidsvold · 31/05/2007 07:32

oh gosh foxy - what a nightmare. I always hated it if I had to drive on the M25 - could do it and was not frightened but absolutely hated it. Unfortunately to visit inlaws - had to do m25 and dartford tunnel/bridge.

The lorries on there are mad - almost got run off the road by one who decided he wanted my lane and he cut across so sharply I had to slam on the brakes to stop him taking out my front end.

mmm so where did the AA man's remit stop

at least you did not having a screaming infant - that would have been a disaster!! hope it is not too serious...

not much happening with us. Am meeting nanny student tomorrow and find out what it involves to be a prac family for a nanny college. Tell you what - dh is getting in his orders for what I can get done whilst she is playing with/looking after the girls - lots of little jobs that are just put on the to do list but never seem to get done.

eidsvold · 31/05/2007 07:33

Lilly - have always said I would write a book and dh even bought me a gorgeou sleather bound journal to write in and I Have not even written my name or anything in it. He keeps asking me when I am going to write my book - especially when we both read a really mediocre one - yeh right - in the 5 minutes peace I get whilst on the loo locked in!!

Shrinkinglily · 31/05/2007 08:13

Eidsvold maybe you can continue to ignore the to do list and start writing your book while you have a nanny!

Ooh I could do with a nanny, it's so rare to get peace from the children, they take it in turns to be demanding! but I'm determined to just keep trying to do my own thing in amongst the chaos for my sanity!

Can't believe Hasan is nearly 3 months already, where does the time go?

kittyhas6 · 31/05/2007 09:37

Fox, poor you how terrifying. Are you ok now? it must have been awful to have to leave the car in the middle of the road with the childen in it. God

Eids, I'm looking for an aupair at the mo, how great for you that your getting this extra help. Make sure you use it well!

AmieR · 31/05/2007 09:54

Sounds a real nerve jangly moment there Fox. Glad all went ok though, apart from the AA's service!

foxcub · 31/05/2007 10:19

The worst bit was once I'd managed to stop, I had to leave the car blocking a slip road while I legged it to the SOS phone box - which didn't bloody work anyway!! The three LOs were all asleep in the car but I was absolutely terrified that a huge truck would come down the slip road and not be able to stop in time, so crush the car . I then spent the whole 90 mins waiting to meet our fate as it were as I couldn't move the car.

When I rang the AA from my mobile (thank god for mobile phones) the stupid operator told me to get out of the car and stand next to it with three kids under 6!!! There was no where to stand safely or sit (directly behind the barrier was a high wall, so no space), so I refused, so she said smugly "well, I'm just advising you ..."

I was actually pleased to see the kids this morning!!

Shrinkinglily · 31/05/2007 10:25

It puts things into a different perspective doesn't it!

divastrop · 31/05/2007 11:13

fox-so glad you are all ok!i know they tell you to get out of the car on the hard shoulder but i can just imagine that with a child the same age as my ds2and a small baby.
in fact,i think i would only just trust my 9 year old not to run onto the mway.

did you get your massage though?

eids-i must be psychic, suggesting you write a book!do it now,all the jobs can wait till all your dc are at school

thats the way im looking at things now.sod it if the house is a tip.

ds2 is in loopy mode this morning,im so glad the nursery is open in half term so i at least get rid of him for a couple of hours.the house was quiet without him yesterday even though there were still 4 children in it!

Booboobedoo · 31/05/2007 11:21

I'm going to write a book when I've retired. Possibly.

Either that or I'll just surf the net alot doing 'research'.

What a literary lot we are!

Foxy: so sorry you had such an awful time! Makes me shudder to think about it. Glad you're all home safe.

Going to have to play it by ear tmorrow as Jonny is still pretty poorly: streaming nose and a cough. I don't want to pass it onto your LOs apart from anything else!

Mossie · 31/05/2007 11:58

Just popping in again, have five mins to myself, have skim-read messages but not much more I'm afraid.

Things here slightly better. I managed to get Bertie to do two full feeds yesterday from the boob rather than expressed, as I was basically constantly pumping and my boobs are so sore, and he was permanently hungry because I could never get much more than an oz at a sitting, and he would sit for an hour sucking at a nipple beforehand as I couldn't get him to take any more than that.

Tomorrow I'm going to yet another bf group, this time a clinic at the local hospital, to try and get some help with his latch.

But I've bored the bloody pants off everyone talking about his latch, if I hear that bloody word again I'm gonna scream myself I think.

Foxy I am glad you're okay after your ordeal, how scary though!!

Shrinky... goodness only knows what I'd write a book about. Either something highly literary and poncey full of obscure pretentious literary references that absolutely no one but university students with far too much time on their hands would read, or a fast-paced sci-fi space-opera thriller!

Eids at your list! You should be using the time to get your feet up!

Booboo I'm still in my size eighteen knickers too. Actually I'm still in a size eighteen full stop. Bit depressing, it's only a size larger than I used to be, really, but the jump between 16 and 18 seems so much bigger than the jump between other sizes.

Diva your photos are lovely!

Sazzy... I'm so sorry to hear about your photographs. I hope they catch the d*ckheads who did it.

Everyone else thank you all for your kind messages and support, it really means a lot to me and is giving me the strength to keep on going with this bfing for a little longer... every day I tell myself I'll keep on for a little longer...

Right I'm off to try and express a little more, mil's taken Bertie so I can walk the dogs and get a rest - the dog walking is actually something I enjoy, so it's a sort of break for me. So now I'm going to sit on the couch, put on a Doctor Who DVD and keep on pumpin'!!
