you choose - for you or for your bubba

I can't believe the May thread is so excited that their babies are arriving. That time in our lives seems like soooooo long ago .

I had to put Sam in one of those hard baby seats when he was only 3 weeks old... lined it with couple of muslins (all i had on me) and pushed him round screaming all the way!

I felt like SUCH a failure mum!

foxcub · 24/05/2007 18:46

Lunar "hear the let down" - do you mean the sound of his gulping or does your boob make a noise?

I hate those trolley hard seats - they just look so uncomfortable don't they? When Monti was about 4 days old I was in the queu in Sainsbury's behind a woman with a 2 week old in one of those hard trolley seats and he was screaming his head off. You could see she was so

Had a crappo day here running round re. school runs and after school clubs and Monti has been yowling cos of the heat.

Kitty, when Ronnie doens't sleep all day does he have a good night's sleep?

Monti's had two baths today to cool him down and been on and off my bboby like a yoyo

My right boob constantly drips, but I think the left one is more like a bottle of mayonaise !

Just had two bars of green & blacks and 3 glasses of rose!!!

DollyPopsOut · 24/05/2007 19:07

Tilly has been dozing and snacking all day. She gets very sweaty in the heat bless her. I can't hear my boob let down but can hear lots of gulping and swallowing. DD2 sometimes breaks off to give me a huge grin as well. And to think, 2 weeks ago I was worried she wasn't smiling enough. There's always something to worry about, isn't there?

I used my super doopa whizzy bionic pump this am and got 5 oz in 15 mins! What a result! Alas, DD1 asked if she couuld have some and then stropped for about 20 mins when I tried to fob her off with mere cow milk. She was deeply challenging again about 12pm and wouldn't sleep so was knackered and badly behaved when she had her friedns over. Had to be banished to the hall 4 times for throwing, hitting, general antisocial behaviour. No wonder I am knackered. Ohh well, only the clearing up, loading dishwasher, making dinner, changing bed, feeding DD2, tidying sitting room and writing a couple of letters to go! Might havet o have a nap after all that....

DollyPopsOut · 24/05/2007 19:08

BTW Kitty I am sure you looked glorious giving birth! How lovely to have it on film

kittyhas6 · 24/05/2007 19:16

foxy, he has been sleeping for longer at night yes, but tbh i would rather he woke more at night an at least slept for say 1/2 hour during the day.

Forgot to say when my waters went in the prog it sounds like someone has fired a gun. I do seem to remember them exploding everywhere

kiwibella · 24/05/2007 19:40

Kitty... MissE was the same - 11 years later and her lack of sleeping is still vivid!!

Dolly... which pump did you get?

Thanks Lunar - I feel like my breasts are totally empty today.

Fox... u really are a lush, aren't you

Muppet, we booked through ebookers and are flying with Qantas. I have been on the phone to let them know I am travelling alone with two kiddies so I have probably been marked neurotic

Piffle... Chelsea was fab!! Great to see the gardens for real.

OP posts:
foxcub · 24/05/2007 19:41

Dolly - which pump did you buy?

Kitty - wooooooshhhh!!!!???

Dolly my DD has been challenging too - trying to "push the boundaries" now she's not the baby anymore.

foxcub · 24/05/2007 19:47

am i being unreasonable expecting my kids to go to bed when the neighbours are having a BBQ and their kids are all out partying????

even Monti won't sleep

Piffle · 24/05/2007 20:10

yes lunar I cannot steer those bloody trolleys with the car seat bit on and most certainly not see over them, infact have nearly run dd over several times so now go only with DP, while I keep dd and passersby safe

Oh the heat, Finn is dead cranky this pm, anyone would think I'd given him the bloody immunisations!!!! Still dp can manage...
better go....

kiwibella · 24/05/2007 20:43

Fox... bbq??? partying??? school nite??? hehehe... poor kiddies - I don't think I would want to be tucked up in bed either.

OP posts:
CallieNewMum · 24/05/2007 20:52

Piffle and others - Which trolleys take a car seat?

Can I just ask - do you think bfing from one boob once a day would be enough to stop periods from returning? It's just that mine haven't yet, and I'm assuming that's the reason why. I'm really surprised though. Or is it just my body not settling down yet?

The heat seems to have made Jordi sleepier and less hungry. I had him weighed today and he's 14lb 7oz. He should be 11 weeks today but is 19.5.

Dolly, thanks for letting us know about Mossy - send her love and hugs.

LunarSea · 24/05/2007 21:07

fox - you can actually hears the "shoosh" as it squirts into his mouth!

Shrinkinglily · 24/05/2007 21:13

Heat? heat? What heat? It's cool here, been raining an all.
My dd was howling like a foghorn earlier. I had sneakily gathered up some old, forgotten and unliked toys but she caught sight of them leaving. I said if she could remember what any of them were she could have it back. (I'm such a cow) So she just screamed 'I want all the toys' for ages until I put tissues in my ears very obviously.

Then she must have decided if you can't beat them join and cuz she went to see what else she could get rid of.

We have so much clutter and stuff, I'm trying to get rid of loads of it- we don't have space and everyone throws everything everywhere all the time.

Kitty my waters exploded too. The midwife jumped backwards

divastrop · 24/05/2007 21:14

callie-my period still hasnt returned(apart from that fake one i had with that mirena coil in)and i ff from birth.my period didnt return after dd2 till she was 12 weeks as well.

dd2 took her first steps today 'bout bloody time.oh help.she seems to have morphed into a fully-fledged toddler as well, complete with tantrums.i just go all fluffy and say 'oh bless,im so happy i got to see her first hissy fit'.somehow,a 17 month old throwing herself on the floor and waving her arms and legs about in temper just seems cute compared to the teen-style rantings of dd1.
not to mention the behavior of asbo boy in the junior school playground(he did a moony at one of his friends).his choice of toilet today was the back yard, and he came in and said 'i p**ed outside'.

needless to say,i am now drinking gin and wondering how it came to this

Shrinkinglily · 24/05/2007 21:16

join them, not join and

Callie could you be our first repregnant one?

Shrinkinglily · 24/05/2007 21:19

Diva congrats to your dd2 walking, aaww!

shanks313 · 24/05/2007 21:23

I hate those trollies where you stick the car seat on top...I can never see past the seat...several times I almost ran over a kid.

Deannas very unsettled during the day as shes hot but shes still into her bedtime sleep...she went down an hour earlier tonight.

We went to mother and baby group and music with mummy today so was a fun packed morning...I kept her awake and had lots of fun playing with the instruments myself

Erm my period is so far 3 days late eeek lol

CallieNewMum · 24/05/2007 21:25

Shrinky, I've already done the test! Just to be sure - was starting to wonder as I was feeling a bit sick for a few days and I also had an MRI scan coming up so I thought I'd better check... I was mostly relieved when it was negative but part of me was a bit disappointed too, I'll admit.

Diva thanks for that. While I'm happy to have a break from them of course, particularly given that it keeps the endometriosis at bay while I'm not getting them, at the same time I do want to get pregnant again eventually! (But not for a minimum of a few months - don't fancy another summer of feeling sick).

divastrop · 24/05/2007 21:40

ha..i did a test today also,i was very pleased it was negative.i knew i wasnt, but i wanted to convince my womb so it will get the message and HAVE A PERIOD.

not that im getting or anything.i just know that people will die soon if it doesnt hurry up!!

callie-i didnt have a period in between ds and dd1

kiwibella · 24/05/2007 22:19

scary... periods and pregnancy .

Diva... I love hearing about your family. Your kids keep me entertained!! Congrats to the walking toddler and well done to the ds watering the plants.

Glad you girlies had fun at your music class Shanks! I hope that you are feeling better.

OP posts:
kiwibella · 24/05/2007 22:20

Rosy... I'm going to try that tactic with MissE - if you can spot what I have taken from your room.... she's a nightmare with her hoarding.

spongecake · 24/05/2007 22:37

just nipped on as am having hellish time with a cyst, infection etc- i can't keep up, but hi to all

not sure about this heat problem- maybe our house faces the wrong way or is in a different dimension, but nothing seems different. baby slept through the night the other night, but is now back to his waking twice.

oh, and my bloody neighbour is up playing his crappy guitar and he is so bad it would be funny, except it is echoes round my house. still at least its not a banjo, though it sounds like one. am waiting for dp to get home so he can go and tell him to pack it in they just ignore me and they have disabled their bell! otherwise would play the matchstick

DollyPopsOut · 24/05/2007 23:13

SPonge I am so sorry that you are poorly. Hope you feel better soon.

Callie / Diva I am and impressed that you are back at it . I think I am as likely to bonk as fly to the moon ATM. As for being pregnant again, I couldn't face that either. It's hot enough wandering around as a lardball without having a baby squirming away too. Respect to all with September babies.

Callie, I can't help with your period Q I am afraid. The GP told me you could only rely on BF for contraception if the baby was solely BF, under 6 months and no sign of AF thus far. I thought you had to BF every 2 hours for it to be effective but perhaps I am wrong. Mind you, if you are BF every 2 hours there would be no time for nookie bear .

MY pump is a fantastic rented one. IT does both norks at once and you can twiddle with the vacuum and the speed of the cycle to mimic the suck which suits your boobs. I have it on strong and fast as i hate expressing and want it done as quickly as possible!! I couldnt get anything with the avent hand job so perhaps I need something more industrial .

Hope Sazzy is OK - it's rotten to be burgled.

Can't believe this time next week our picnic will be tomorrow. great !!

LaidbackinEngland · 25/05/2007 00:41

Dolly - your pump sounds much better than my "trendy" one .... spent about 30 mins doing it earlier and only got about 4 fl oz. Oh well will do some more tomorrow and a bit on Saturday morning before the wedding. Haven't got anything to wear that fits at the moment so am planning a little trip to monsoon in the morning to find something suitably weddingy. Lunar the wedding is at Weston Park - I think that is in your neck of the woods ??

Vis a vis breastfeeding as a contaceptive, my GP says that the figures were based on studies done in Africa and are whole population studies (I'm not a statistician so just smiled and nodded knowledgably as he was banging on) ... basically he said don't solely rely on bf for contraception. As he rightly pointed out - you only know when you have started ovulating when you have a period and therefore by the time you have missed that period is due you might already be preggers

Off to pick up my mum from Gatwick . Night x

LunarSea · 25/05/2007 07:33

Laidback - Weston Park is about an hour from us. We're south of Birmingham, Weston Park's north of it.
