They all have to drink from open cups eventually so your baby is ahead of the game!

LoveRainbow02 · 03/10/2018 13:03

I've ordered a doidy cup to try him with. Anyone used one before? He knows what he likes that's for sure lol!

Vickylou78 · 03/10/2018 17:49

Doidy cups are fab! Work really well

LoveRainbow02 · 07/10/2018 19:38

The reviews seem to be good in the doidy cups so I can't wait until it arrives. What time are your 7 month olds going to bed at? A few people have told me I'm putting my ds down too early! He is always in bed sleeping between 7 and 8pm every night.

Vickylou78 · 07/10/2018 20:03

Hi loverainbow my dd (6 months - she didn’t turn up til April) is going to bed between 7.30-8. So same as yours.

SnowBambino · 07/10/2018 20:34

Doesn't sound too early to me. DD (7 months now) is in bed between 6.30-7 and gets up at around 7am. We still have a wake up for a feed around 1ish (and teething has caused more wake ups) but generally she's in bed for 12 hours a night.

As much as I love her, I am so relieved to now get enough of an evening to cook and eat dinner with DH and relax a bit!

avocadoincident · 07/10/2018 22:31

Our dd is in bed 6:30. Children need good quality sleep and parents need good quality evenings!!!

3in4years · 07/10/2018 23:21

Hello. OP with a name change here.
Baby is just gorgeous and proper crawling now. Dc1 started school so we have to be up.and out every day! Baby wakes every 2-3 hours at night so I am shattered!
She's taken to food beautifully. Loves water too and is amazing with a sippy cup. No luck with a bottle though!
I dream of the day she sleeps through but at the same time I am relishing being on mat leave. I have a meeting with work tomorrow to discuss going back.
Hopefully moving house soon. Life is busy!

LoveRainbow02 · 13/10/2018 09:42

@3in4years - how old is your lo? I'm trying to encourage my ds to crawl but he's having none of it lol. He can be sitting up and will get up onto his knees into crawling position and just lies there. He prefers to be up on his feet and walking holding my hands. He is 8months next week. Still having a few wake ups each night here also, tiring! Can't believe he's nearly 8 months though, totally flew in!

3in4years · 13/10/2018 23:21

7 months tomorrow! Yes it flies by!

Smurf123 · 26/10/2018 19:03

Hi how is everyone keeping?
We are doing well.. Ds is so interested in everything going on around him and joining in and babbling.. It is lovely to watch and hear..
Does anyone using a 2.5 tog baby sleeping bag?? And what does your lo wear in it?? Our bedroom tends to stay around 18 degrees according to the monitor although flickered to 17 a few times yesterday.. It does feel cold though.. From the grobag website they suggest just a sleepsuit.. But I think it feels like we are getting to more vest and sleepsuit time of year.. Worried about making him too warm though..

Vickylou78 · 26/10/2018 21:14

Hi Smurf, vest and sleepsuit here too. They get really cold arms though even with that so I was even thinking of using a long sleeved vest under the sleepsuit. That may be too much though. It does feel cold to me too and I am enveloped in my 12tog duvet!

3in4years · 26/10/2018 21:14

We're good. Poor baby has been teething like mad. She has 7! She wears a vest, slewpsuit and gro bag. And I usually drape a thin blanket on top. But I sleep with the window open. Anyway, she wakes me so much I usually end up with her in bed with me...
Rubbish sleeper but a great eater! And good crawler!

SnowBambino · 26/10/2018 22:36

7 teeth, wow!! We have two here and two more on the way.

We are currently using a 2.5 tog sleeping bag, long sleeved vest and sleep-suit, for a room that's 18-19 degrees. It feels cold to me!

We're doing ok. DD is crawling all over the place, nothing is safe! She's really quite fast. Sleeping is not great due to a cold and teething, averaging 2 hours wake ups a night. I am dreading the clocks going back and causing an early wake up too. Any ideas on how to get around that?!!

Smurf123 · 29/10/2018 19:41

Thanks all we are gong with vest and babygro.
How did you all do with the clock change?
Ds has been asleep since 6 tonight.. Hasn't quite got used to the clock change yet.
He has 4 teeth all came through within a week! Can't believe he is almost 8 months

SnowBambino · 13/11/2018 03:09

How is everyone?

Sleep has gone to pot here. 2-3 wake ups a night, and one of those could well be for an hour or so. I don’t know if it’s the 8 month sleep regression, teething, a possible ear infection after a bad cold, leap six or a combination of all of them. All I know is that I’m more tired than ever.

We follow a routine that’s worked well for us, and DD goes down well for naps and bedtime, but seems to be reliant on the boob for nighttime wakes. I feel as though we’re going to have to work on self settling and a bit of crying it out, although I’m reluctant. DH has been ‘helping’ if DD wakes before midnight, but it’s not sustainable as he takes her downstairs and she ends up awake for ages.

The lack of sleep is making me gloomy. I hope it passes soon. During the day DD is a delight - happy and very active - it’s just at night that’s hellish. Is anyone else experiencing the same?

Clevs · 13/11/2018 08:11

Yes, sleep is all over the place here as well and has been for at least a month. On a good night I'm up 2-3 times but some nights it's hourly and sometimes half hourly. Before this my son was starting to self settle on occasions but now he just screams if I put him in his cot. If I try and rock him he pulls at my clothing to get to my boob and I have to feed to sleep every time now.

Some of the night wakings are just for comfort, I'm only with him for 5-10 mins before I'm putting him back down.

He has been teething recently and I put it down to that initially but they've broken through the gum now and don't seem to be bothering him as much but we're still getting the frequent night wakings.

avocadoincident · 13/11/2018 19:37

We did some leaving to cry. I made sure she was fed and fed and fed again, burped, calpol for teeth, warm, clean bum and then I left. I decided I would feed her every three hours instead of every hour when she wakes up. First night she cried for 15 mins and then slept. Woke up two more times and cried for ten minutes. Second night we had one crying episode of 15 mins. Third night 1 crying episode of 5 minutes. And now she sleeps for 5 hour stretches. I've also moved her to her own room.

This sounds cold and detached but it worked for us. I wrote down in detailed notes each night: times of feeds, times and lengths of crying just so I could accurately compare. I told myself every minute of crying is closer to her being asleep. It was hard but she's happier and more content

SnowBambino · 13/11/2018 20:22

I don't think that sounds cold and detached avocado. If DD was waking every hour I would have done something to change it too. Sounds as though it's worked.

clevs I don't know how you survive hourly disruptions to your sleep. 2-3 wake ups is enough to make me feel very tired! I think teething might be playing a part here as DDs top gums look bulging at the front, so the teeth can't be too far from appearing.

My main problem is that I got lazy about bedtime. Feeding to sleep was cosy and easy, and until it impacted on nighttime sleep it was fine, but now it's a problem as DD then expects the boob on waking, and cries because the last place she was awake was on me in our room and she's woken up in her own dark bedroom and crib.
Tonight I fed her and took her through to her own room and shushed her to sleep in the cot. We will see what happens tonight! A good night she can do 6-9 hours without waking, and on a bad night she will wake at 10.30/1am/5am.

Smurf123 · 13/11/2018 20:31

A good night for us is feed and bed around 730/8 then feed about 1030/11 then 230 then 630..
A bad night can be hourly feeds.
Last night wasn't great as ds took ages to go back down each time. Didn't wake until midnight but then would wake up every time I tried to put him down until 130. Then slept to 5 and again was waking every time I tried putting him down but sleeping almost instantly on me. Ended up getting up at 6 and taking him downstairs to let him sit in his bouncer as I was so tired and worried about falling asleep holding him. Plus i need to get ready for work at 7 and we leave at 720 do wasn't a lot of point persevering to get him down after 6

3in4years · 14/11/2018 19:38

Waking every 1-2 hours here. It's dc3 and I have never left any of them to cry and have no issue breastfeeding to sleep. It's a great tool! Baby has 8 teeth so I'm blaming that for now and hoping things improve soon! In the meantime I am a zombie, but a happy one!

3in4years · 14/11/2018 19:40

I keep thinking I'll have time/ energy for exercise but I don't. Back down to pre pregnancy weight but I still can't fit into my clothes due to a muffin top. Sugar addict! I blame the lack of sleep for that.

Vickylou78 · 14/11/2018 23:35

Hi everyone! Sorry to hear of all you tired mummy’s. Tired here too! Although I feel that I’ve been quite lucky as on a normal night we seem to only have one night feed that will be normally around 3am. We are up for just over an hour feeding and burping and settling back down and then she will usually last till almost 7am.

But the last few weeks haven’t been so easy as we had chicken pox in October and then swiftly followed by hand, foot and mouth. Was awful as she had ulcers all over back of her throat and so was in pain and wouldn’t feed and had high temp so we ended up in children’s hospital for one night. We had quite a few bad nights after that and us only ow improving but I’ve been being woken by my 3 yr old too who has an ear infection! All fun and games!

We’ve started weaning but are bit delayed due to the illnesses. She’s 7.5 months and resllybovly just beginning to actually swallow anything! We are trying blw as she wasn’t at all interested in being fed by spoon! Anyone else having fun weaning?!

I’m still working through my 3 stone pregnancy weight gain!! I’ve lost 2 but have one more to go! Feeling better but not looking great as I hVs Diastasis Recti (separated abs) so my tummy still sticks out 😢. Gap has reduced a bit so I’m hoping if I ever have some time to exercise I may be able to get it to reduce some more.

These babies are at a fab age though aren’t they! Starting to be funny and show bit of personality, playing with toys a bit but are still quite contained as not crawling or walking yet!! Anyone have a crawler??

Vickylou78 · 14/11/2018 23:41

Oh grrr sorry so many typos! It’s this phone!

Reslly bovly = really only
Hvs = have

avocadoincident · 15/11/2018 10:35

@Vickylou78 that all sounds awful ThanksThanksThanks
Hope things are looking up now. We've had a horrid chest cough and that was bad enough...not sure how you coped with chicken pox and h,f&m. It must be because you are a super hero
