Hi thanks for all the support, Ive just spoke to the landlord, he said the landlord may still playball if they forego their rental legal protection, I dont understand it though cos I dont have anything to get me into trouble like credits cards etc. (cos I dont trust myself with them) and dp has nothing he can think of and never has a problem with anything, oh well all my hopes are pinned.....
The agent has just rang back and said we can still move in !!!Oh that is such a relief.
Mygirl - ive got the same prob with ds want to get a forward facing but he was 18lb two weeks ago, he is getting weighed today cant see he has put on 2lb although he has eaten alot of choccie buttons, im worried about putting him in a front facing one because of the strain on his neck and it says 9 months?
Charlee - me and my brother have ibs, but it effects everyone differently, my brother is skinny as anything and somedays is really bad, with me it is only if I eat fatty or spicey foods and I dont get much pain but look about 5 months pg from bloating, so hopefully its not at all but if it is it might not be as bad as your dad suffers!
Stacey - thanks for the hugs x

Glad the house thing has been sorted out AJM

Re. car seats, have a look at the Britax site, they have a fit finder, put the details of your car in and it will show not just the seats that will fit, but only the ones that have been crash tested in that exact car and done well in the tests.

We got Georges a couple of weeks ago, we got the Britax First Class one, it is from birth to 4 years-ish. It can go rear and forward, so if your LO's are too big for the baby carrier but can't sit up un-aided for more than 20 minuites then they can go rearward in the First Class. It is better to keep them rearward for as long as possible, it is safer than being forward. I think I read somewhere that they either have or are planning to make it illegal in somewhere in Europe - maybe Spain? - to go forward facing before 2 years old. Only thing we have found with the First Class is that when it is rearwards facing, it is HUMONGOUS, and we have a Vectra - not exactly a small car! But George is so much more comfortable in it, his legs were all scrunched up in the Maxi-cosi.

AlfieJacksmummy · 03/07/2007 10:41

nj - thanks I will have a look, the only thing I found was my mum saw the what test and some of the car seats that are on sale didnt even pass the basic safety! The one that came out top was Maxi Cosi so was going to go for one of them? Is so bloody confusing!!

NatalieJane · 03/07/2007 10:45

I think in most cases you can't go wrong with either Maxi-cosi or Britax, but any carseat will be unsafe if it isn't fitted right.

Try the Fit finder on Britax's site, if you can't be arsed registering, give me your car details and I'll do it for you if you want?

NatalieJane · 03/07/2007 10:48

Just to add, I think any carseat sold (for UK spec - watch for this if you buy on eBay) they all have to pass some safety test to be released for sale, so they should all have a level of protection. The What test I believe was looking for higher standards of safety than what the law requires, which is why some 'failed' their tests.

Also don't get sucked into the ISOFIX seats, not unless you have 2 cars so the seat is likely to be swopped about a lot.

AlfieJacksmummy · 03/07/2007 10:54

Sorry I didnt explain that very well, thats what I meant they didnt pass the higher tests, but I would obviously want a higher safety one. Ive jiust been on the britax website, there was only one and it didnt go rear facing only forward but it did recline?
Might ask hv today???

NatalieJane · 03/07/2007 11:30

Can Alfie sit up for more than 20 minutes?

And does he weigh more than 9kgs?

NatalieJane · 03/07/2007 11:31

TBH, you would be better to ring somewhere like Mothercare and ask them (ask to speak to someone trained on carseats though, don't take an average shop worker's word for it)

HV's don't know what they are talking about at the best of times IME.

SleeplessInTheStaceym11House · 03/07/2007 11:45

i echo NJ dont ask HV they are useless!

Keiran has had a rearward facing one now for ages, and as NJ says its huge but its great for him, wont be long till he can go forwards, not that hes bothered as he can see dd when looking backwards.

need to go rescue the kitten!

mygirllollipop · 03/07/2007 13:13

Never bother asking the HV's anything TBH!
The forawrd facing seat we've got reclines to the position the rear facing car seat does anyway, and we won't sit her up in it for a good while yet. Just need to persuade DD3 to 'let' DD4 have it, even though DD3 has a new pink princess booster seat with back!
Our solicitor has the contract for us, can't wait to move!

SleeplessInTheStaceym11House · 03/07/2007 14:17

oh mygirl glad things are getting sorted with the house!!

im boooooored!!!!!! someone talk to me!!!!

AlfieJacksmummy · 03/07/2007 14:18

I thought after I wrote that why would I ask my hv?? Moment of madness they never help with anything, it wasnt actually my hv anyway, ds is 18lb 11 1/2oz which means he has put on 11 1/2oz in 2 weeks! He has only beem putting on about 2-3oz every 2 weeks recently. So he is just off 9kgs but I was going to buy his new car seat with my bday money but not put him in it for another month anyway.
I was going to get a forward facing one that reclines and have it laid back for a bit so there wasnt a strain on his neck when I brake or anything.

AlfieJacksmummy · 03/07/2007 14:19

Hey Stacey

SleeplessInTheStaceym11House · 03/07/2007 14:26

hello!!!!

ds is in bed, dd is wrecking the flat and torturing the cat and im sooooooo bored!!! have no energy either, really need to sort the flat out but jsut cant be @rsed!!!!!

AlfieJacksmummy · 03/07/2007 14:29

Know the feeling, dp is at work till about 6, ds is rolling around and stressing the cat out, Ive had to tidy up everyday lately for people to come and view our place so cant be bothered today, and got to go sit down the council offices in a bit - Oh what glamorous lives we lead!!

SleeplessInTheStaceym11House · 03/07/2007 14:33

yeah dh working till late tonight, cant wait till he gets home, kids been a bit of a nightmare.........arrrrrggggggggghhhhhhhh and now shes woken ds up!!!

AlfieJacksmummy · 03/07/2007 14:34

opps! Ive got images of you sitting at the computer turning green like the incredible hulk!

SleeplessInTheStaceym11House · 03/07/2007 14:37

lol, almost! shes now force feeding the kitten pretend medicine! god i cant wait till this little girl goes to pre-school!

mygirllollipop · 03/07/2007 15:16

AJM - yup know that feeling well, we had 10 people all viewing the house (with another two booked) so we had to tidy up etc, was a bit peeved esp since we hadn't and haven't given our notice in yet.
I'm bored too, I have loads to do (I could be packing, doing dishes, vacuuming, and am supposed to be teaching) but I don't feel grand, bit of headache, sick feeling, and I felt hot last night but DH said I was freezing. Felt tired for a little over a week so I think I must be shaking the last of it off now (hopefully) so I am bored even though I have plenty I could be getting on with.

AlfieJacksmummy · 03/07/2007 16:08

mygirl - hope you fell better soon, I wouldnt mind people coming round if it was my house or i'd decided to leave but its like rubbing salt in wounds, not only are we being thrown out but we have to let people come round andpeer through our windows and stuff, it does my head in!
More good news (yes I said good!!!) we have booked a really nice removal company, it was over £100 cheaper than the other and we get given all our boxes free so going to pick them up tom and start packing! Also just got back from the council pffices and they said everything is now complete and we should know in a week or so how much we are entitled too, its not alot but every little helps!

SleeplessInTheStaceym11House · 03/07/2007 16:18

glad the good news is filtering through now AJ

mygirl i felt like sh*t yesterday but am much better today hope you feel better tomo too!

oooooo im so stressed about money its uneblieveable!! am now selling my quinny zapp to try and pay off some of the overdraft....its just all got so stupid....im also using my money from delivering to pay it off which i didnt want to do coz i want to learn to drive but otherwise we're gunna be worse off next month! i hate money so much!

mygirllollipop · 03/07/2007 16:38

I don't feel too bad just can't be bothered to owt! Although I have just put a roast dinner on.
AJM - I can share some of that as although it was our choice to leave, we are not being kicked out, we haven't given notice and th elandlord had two agents on the case pestering us. If I was selling I wouldn't be too bothered.
Stacey - completely agree re: money, although it sounds like we're rich buying a house, I'm going to be a size 0 model the amount of belt tightening I have to do! I need room in the new house, so am sorting our stuff out and selling anything of (little) value on eBay.

SleeplessInTheStaceym11House · 03/07/2007 16:44

well iv gotta go through our wardrobes and dd+ds's wardrobes and bedrooms to sell anything that isn't wore/played with as we just dont have any money atm. i just hate it!

as for being rich buying a house a load of my friends think we're rich coz we managed to do part buy part rent but we;r only jsut managing and recently we havnt been managing at all! it just gives me such a headache!

AlfieJacksmummy · 03/07/2007 16:55

Stacey - totally know how you feel, we were just about managing before having to pay admin fees deposits and removal companies now we are so poor everything that stays still long enough in our house is put on ebay!
We are hoping to look into half buy half rent when we have moved (if that make sense) if you dont mind mw being nosy, did you do yours through the council or through an agent?

mygirllollipop · 03/07/2007 16:57

We looked at a shared ownership house but it would have cost us the same to do that as buy outright - so scarliy that's what we're doing.
