Sorry X posts, fingers crossed for this new house

AlfieJacksmummy · 26/06/2007 16:19

whats a dripper? Ive not had one of those, they have got a pretzel stand in the arcade (by the clock)they are lush! I spent quite alot of money in primark today, well £18, that is alot for primark!! Got a few nice tops so looking forward to wearing those.
Im afraid i dont know anything about colour blindness.

2tiredmum · 26/06/2007 16:31

Just spotted your conv about colour blindness. happen to know this one so thought I'd drop in - hope you don't mind. Boys have an X and a Y chromosome; girls have two X chromosomes. The Y chromosome is basically blank (except for the bit saying - "be male" - probably explains a lot). The clour blindness defect sits on the X chromosome and is recessive. This means that in order for it to appear you either have to have two X chromosomes (i.e. be female) with the defective gene on both(obviously very rare); or have and X and a Y chromosome (i.e. be male) with the defective gene on the X only (much less rare). If you have two X chromosomes (i.e. are female) with only one X defective then you are a carrier (you do not have colour blindness but have a 50% chance of passing it on). This is why boys get colour blindness more often than girls.

2tired, thank you for that, so my dd is only likely to have it if it runs in her fathers family too then? hmmm will have to look into that as dont know much about dh's biological father! thanks you managed to put it much better than i did!

NatalieJane · 26/06/2007 17:33

Blooming heck I got my X and Y's mixed up, I was never meant to know such things obviously!!! LOL

Drippers... they are like layers of gorgeous soft pastry (sort of like coisant type pastry) with some gorgeous, very sweet and very yummy type of sticky sauce, absolutely beautiful, you can get them with dried fruit in them but that takes all of the naughtiness out of it. I know of at least two bakers in Cheltenham that do them, there is a cafe in town that does them but I can't describe to you off the top of my head where it is, if you know a bit of the residential side of Cheltenham (Rowenfield area) I can desribe where the other bakers is that does them.

saralou · 26/06/2007 18:12

my this has been a rather intellectual conversation toay... my head hurts reading it... actually my head hurt any way!!!

i went to sleep and forgot to wake up to pick up the boys from nursery i did set an alarm, but i threw it across the room and it went under a pillow oh dear!

ryan did his 1st piece of art today.. they had paint to play with, apparently he didnt like it very much!

mygirllollipop · 27/06/2007 09:21

Thanks 2tired - was going to explain. Stacey - yes for your DD to be colour blind, your DH would have had to have given her an affected X chromosome, which he would have got from his mother (he only got the Y from his father as all men do), so his mother would have to be a carrier or affected.
Still waiting to sign contracts for my house, getting fed up!

SleeplessInTheStaceym11House · 27/06/2007 09:32

oh so have to ask his mum........hmmm this is confusing me! mygirl, dont you hate all this moving house stuff, i ofund it hard enough with our place and it was brand new and we didnt have to sell so it was a darn site easier, and as i say thats hard enough!!

oh and speak of the devil and he shall arise!!

best get his feed ready really!

NatalieJane · 27/06/2007 12:06

Morning all

I managed to get George to eat half a pot of rice pudding last night, and then I gave him a lump of cheese and he sort of ate some of it, most of it ended up on me and the floor but hey, it is going in the right direction!! He'd have eaten more of the rice pudding if DH hadn't have taken over from me so I could get DS1 to bed, I came down and DH said "I don't think he wanted anymore, he started putting his fingers in his mouth and holding the spoon himself" So I asked if he was putting the spoon in his mouth or if he was just playing with it, DH said he was putting it in his mouth so I thought he'd had enough..... where the fucking logic in that????!!! Men!!! God I wish we had a rolling eyes emoticon!! LOL Oh well the moral is, if you want something done properly, do it your bloody self!!!

I can remember well all the stress with moving but I would give lots of things to have the chance to move from here sooner than we are!

Quick question girlies, if you were buying a second hand car seat (I know, I know you shouldn't but I am selling it and I know there has never been an accident with it) if it had a bit of a slight stain on it that you can only see in certain lights, would you be put off buying it?

mygirllollipop · 27/06/2007 13:15

NJ- nah I wouldn't be put off, and I know it's naughty but I will be selling my travel system soon as DD4 is too big for the car seat and we have another single pushchair. the double buggy probs won't last much longer but that's up to DD3 when she stops napping completely etc.
Stacey- I know it's a hassle moving, you couldn't normally tempt me! We are in rented ATM while we found our feet in a new city etc, but now we have a deposit and the right house so I want to move in yesterday! the first time I moved was just down the road from my mam so it was no bother, the second time was to here and that wasn't too much trouble as we still had the old house to slowly move stuff over. This time I am thinking will be worse (although I am not 34wks pg with two other kids this time around!).

mygirllollipop · 27/06/2007 13:23

OH CRAP - literally! On the odd occasion I post on here DD4 does a crap, all ove rher legs and clothes and hands then I see it AROUND HER MOUTH! She's only gone and eaten it - she'll be OK won't she?!!! [terrible mother emoticon]

saralou · 27/06/2007 15:29

lol mygirl... she's gross! what on earth is your cooking like if she thinks sh*t is appetising?! i hope yu get your moving date soon... my parents are being messed around too, they should hve exchanged for the last 3 weeks, and it's the same question that they're waiting on being resolved!! grrr!!

nat i wouldn't be put off... in fact i'd kind of expect it when it's second hand.!

my throat is so painful i can't swallow anything and am fast losing the ability to talk... i haven't eaten since saturday except a few scraps here and their... i's all dp's fault!!!!

NatalieJane · 27/06/2007 15:31

MMMM nice little treat for her there mygirl!! She will be fine, I remember DS1 going through a stage of feeling around in his nappy the ammount of times I caught him just about to put it in his mouth I can't remember, but I am sure some of it made it all the way at least once!!

So, while I have all ears open on second hand buggys, how much would you pay for a 6 month old micralite (with buggy bag, brand new footmuff, and rain cover), the carrycot (including mattress, 4 sheets, and rain cover) the maxi-cosi cabrio (with the adaptors to fit them to the buggy, the brand new footmuff, the rain cover, but with the stain that you can barely see!) All of it cost £400+ new?

NatalieJane · 27/06/2007 15:33

Ouch Sara! How is it DP's fault?

Feel better soon

NatalieJane · 27/06/2007 15:35

Oh just remember I have all of the instructions for it all aswell - as if that makes any difference!!

NatalieJane · 27/06/2007 15:36

Rememebered we should get one of them!

NatalieJane · 27/06/2007 15:36

Shit I give up....

Am I the only one here??!!! LOL

saralou · 27/06/2007 15:37

he bought this disease into our house therefore his fault!! (this is also most definitely man-flu, i feel like i'm dying and a touch over-dramatic!!)

saralou · 27/06/2007 15:38

in answer to your question... i have no idea

saralou · 27/06/2007 15:40

i have ended up giving mine away... no bugger wanted to buy it

i dont have space for 3 pushchair in the house!!

saralou · 27/06/2007 15:41

great... 1st nats talking to herself... now i am

we're all going mad!!

NatalieJane · 27/06/2007 15:44

LMAO, Is it my turn yet?!!

saralou · 27/06/2007 15:50

yes, but only 'cause i hav to pick up the hooligans!!

NatalieJane · 27/06/2007 15:51

I am going to treat myself to a ciggarette I think, first one this week

Bye for now xxx

(Anymore ideas on how much I should ask for the buggy stuff would be good please )

podglet · 27/06/2007 15:54

Helllooo!

NJ, I'm afraid I have no idea of the cost of that stuff 2nd hand, but I wouldn't worry too much about the stain. Perhaps about £250 for the lot?

Saralou - I find a hot toddy helps sore throats norty DP for bringing it home.

Well, I am being tough mummy this week as I realised that I had got into the habit of rocking / singing DS to sleep. I am now popping him in his cot awake and leaving the room. It is currently taking about 20 mins for him to settle and he keeps falling asleep sideways across his cot but not many tears so far!

Stacey, glad DD is better

Mygirl - ewwwww, that's gross am sure she will come to no harm though.
