@Motherhippy16 same here we are at 2 hr gaps - so frustrating:-/

butterybollocks · 03/04/2018 08:28

Brrrrr @zampa that doesn't sound like fun.

Sleep regression happening here too but so far it's only really hit naps meaning he wakes after 40 mins. He needs a long nap in the middle of the day so I have to work hard to get him back to sleep. So frustrating.

Motherhippy16 · 03/04/2018 10:34

I long for the days where he was waking twice a night rather than 5!!!! We are going up to my in laws next week so goodness knows what they are going to say about how he naps and sleeps at the moment! X

DiscombobulatedWomble · 04/04/2018 15:26

Oh dear god. I stopped counting last night after 8 wake ups. This may break me. Also she's only had 20/30 minute naps all day this does not look good. I naively thought how bad could a sleep regression be.. it's not like she's sleeping through anyway. Oh little did I know. I want to cry!

Topsyloulou · 04/04/2018 17:54

That sounds tough @DiscombobulatedWomble. Is she waking fully or just stirring? Does there seem to be any reason for the waking?

Iris has a cold to add to the teething, poor baby doesn't know what to do with herself. She's got really gunky eyes with the cold too.

We've had to switch to the 6-9 month clothes this week, 3-6 were getting a bit snug. She's definitely had a big growth spurt as we saw some friends at the weekend who last saw her 3 weeks ago & they couldn't believe how much she's grown. I noticed today I need to adjust her car seat too.

Hazandduck · 04/04/2018 22:09

Oh @womble you poor thing! Hope it starts to improve soon. Does she fully wake and cry if you leave her? I left Matilda grizzling the other day and she dropped off but that has only happened once or twice and I usually have to feed her to sleep for every sleep! I know it’s a really bad habit to get in so I am trying to get her to sleep with lullabies and things at least once a day instead of feeding her. DH got Alexa to play a lullaby to her the other day when I was out and she dropped off for him!

@Topsy poor Iris :( Tilda’s got her first cold at the moment, took her to the GP heateday because her cough was getting a bit chesty but doc said it sounded clear. She’s never had a runny nose before this weekend and she now hates her nose being wiped!

So tonight...she rolled over! Painful to watch but she got there in the end with much cheering from me and DH! She couldn’t roll back again though haha x

Zampa · 04/04/2018 22:29

Well done Matilda!

Thanks Zampa! She’s been so close to doing it for ages Smile

lydiangel83 · 04/04/2018 23:43

@DiscombobulatedWomble I feel your pain. Just when you think it couldn't be worse, it does. We too dream of the days of 2-3 wake ups per night!!

DiscombobulatedWomble · 05/04/2018 16:31

I honestly don't know! Sometimes I think it's wind, sometimes teeth, sometimes she's hungry but it all ends with her going back on the boob she won't settle any other way, so then if it is wind it'll just make things worse. So frustrating!

Last night was better.. only 5 wake ups haha

She's also still refusing the breast during the day it's all a bit exhausting!

butterybollocks · 05/04/2018 20:44

Flowers and Cake to those of you struggling with sleep and/or colds. Freddie had an awful cold a few weeks ago and I tried every baby cold remedy on the market - I recommend baby olbas and a nose frida snot sucker.

Mashed some banana for Freddie today and he grabbed the spoon from me and shoved it in his mouth!

izzibee29 · 06/04/2018 07:32

🙋🏼‍♀️ I've got a question for those mamas with rolling babes already.

Freddie either is lazy or just will be one of those who skips rolling/ crawling and goes straight to walking.

Did you end up letting your little ones cry a bit in frustration when they couldn't figure out how to roll in the beginning or did you avoid letting them cry at all. Currently I'm always there to calm him when he cries but he's starting to get Wiley and I know he knows crying means he won't have to tummy time any more....

Zampa · 06/04/2018 07:37

@izzibee29 I was very surprised when my lo rolled. She's always been a tummy time whinger and I don't think we ever lasted longer than 5 minutes. I'd just pick her up or roll her back when she got fed up.

I think 4 months is quite early to be rolling. Leonore can only go from back to front over her left side at the moment.

Topsyloulou · 06/04/2018 08:33

@izzibee29 Iris has only rolled once so far and that was front to back. She's very close to doing back to front and can rotate herself round 360 on the playmat or in her cot as she discovered this week. I let her get a little bit frustrated but will always try & pick her up before it gets to full on crying. DS is very keen for her to roll & keeps rolling her over so I have to watch him like a hawk with her at the moment. She just laughs when he does it which doesn't help discourage him!

DiscombobulatedWomble · 06/04/2018 08:36

Ours has only ever rolled front to back.. and it's only happened a few times & I'm not convinced she knew what she was doing because she looked very shocked & promptly cried!

I always roll her over when she gets frustrated because I hate listening to her cry.. no idea if I'm hampering her development, but then to be honest she doesn't spend a whole lot of time on the floor front or back because she hates it, she much prefers sitting up/being held/standing so I'm hoping she'll be an early walker instead!

lydiangel83 · 06/04/2018 19:52

We went to a talk on baby led weaning today, quite different to traditional weaning! Any thoughts? I'm going to wait and see what paediatrician says next wk and then decide what to do, given it is likely to be dairy free!

DuRezidal · 06/04/2018 21:08

So J has been on his first holiday as we went skiing as a family and he was an absolute superstar! He slept really well (although I didn't as I'm not used to having him in the room with me) and he was an angel on both plane flights. Clever boy :-)

Hazandduck · 07/04/2018 17:41

@izzibee Matilda has only managed it once but she has been so close to doing it for weeks now! She grabs her feet and rolls on her side and you think...this is it! Then she gives up and rolls back. She does swivel around in circles on her playmat. Tummy time never used to last very long but she seems to actually enjoy it now and plays with her toys on her front quite often.

@lydiaangel what was that like? I’ve been giving Matilda purée veg for about a week - 10 days and she is doing really well, we only do it once a day just when we are sat at the table after dinner, she seems to like being in her high chair with us as we eat. She does grab her spoon and bowl quite often so I reckon we could try baby led weaning as well as purées but I will wait until 6 months for that. I’m happy to do a mix of both really. It’s how we’ve fed her so far (I’ve done some days of EBF sometimes I express sometimes DH would give her a bedtime bottle of formula.) I guess you just decide what suits you and your own baby best?

Hazandduck · 07/04/2018 17:43

@Durez, that sounds lovely, well done J!

butterybollocks · 08/04/2018 08:35

@lydiangel83 I did traditional weaning with dd, but I'm planning on a mix with F. He's having little tastes of stuff now and it's all been him feeding himself so far - if i use a spoon he takes it off me and puts it in his own mouth.

Dd has woken up with a sickness bug this morning. She's meant to be back at school tomorrow she'll have to be off until at least weds now and I'm just hoping we don't all catch it.

Topsyloulou · 09/04/2018 12:48

@lydiangel83 I'll be doing BLW. I did it with DS and it's so easy. A bit messy but lots of fun and doesn't require lots of prep in advance like purées.

Iris has decided that 4am - 5am is playtime. She cries until you go into her & then as soon as she sees you the biggest smile appears on her face, we keep repeating this until she eventually falls back to sleep. The another night my head hadn't even hit the pillow before she was crying again. It's the worst time as well as I don't have long enough to get into a deep sleep before DS gets up at 6.30.

lydiangel83 · 09/04/2018 19:13

I'm a bit down, everyone's babies seem to be sleeping better than ours, and I am not sure I play with her enough. Anyone else have these worries?!

theotherendofthesockportal · 09/04/2018 22:11

@lydiangel83 I have the worry about not playing with Bea enough. I'm worried I don't stimulate her enough, also I worry that she doesn't give two hoots about learning to roll. All we can do is the best we can. I keep reminding myself to live in the moment and enjoy it, this little baby stage doesn't last for long.

Hazandduck · 09/04/2018 22:22

Oh yes @Lydia and @sock I worry I don’t do enough or know what to do enough and a whole day passes and I think “what did we actually do other than her laying on her mat and me doing housework?” I feel so bad but I’ve seen pics of your little ones and they look like lovely happy babies so I think you are doing fab and everyone worries they aren’t getting it right! It seems like every time I feel like we’ve established a routine or something or she naps well, she then goes backwards and sleeps for 10 minutes at a time, or wakes up 2 hours earlier than expected and throws me. X

Zampa · 09/04/2018 22:43

I also worry that I don't stimulate baby enough and feel especially guilty when I catch her watching TV. Looks like we're all in good company!
