Thought i would start the offical May 2007 thread as it is May and we have now had our first offical May baby - even though we have 6 naughty babies who queue jumped and arrived in April .

Probably be a while before there are many messages but a least we have a thread now

BBC not gone quite as smoothly as last night. Went to mum's for dinner and didnt get back til 7.15pm. Did the whole bath thing and fed her and she was wide awake. Put her in her basket at 8pm and she has only just fallen asleep. I guess on the plus side she has gone down awake and hasnt fallen asleep on me and then been put in basket. I should say that i did go up every 5 mins to pick up, sooth and put back down.

Hope you are all doing well. I am just finishing the ironing mountain in preparation of the boys coming back tomorrow.

quick question girls, Archie fed once for quite a while after being born but he has pretty much slept the day away and not wanted anything I have just put him on for a feed before bedtime and he did feed for about 20 mins. Is this normal I figure its ok otherwise the doctor would not have discharged us.What do you all think.

By the way deejags Had a quick look at the posts and saw your LO is poorly. I hope she is doing better thinking of you and the rest of your family.

Lupins71 · 03/06/2007 22:51

Julie it is not advised to let a newborn go for longer than 4 hours, congrats on your little bundle by the way xx

We have had had a bit of a stressy day, tried to lengthen time between feeds, 1st time was good lots of crying but then took 5oz, then we both slept till 5, another feed and another 3 hours, which was cool not too much moaning, then it went pear shaped, he was hollering and stressed, gave in after 1.5hrs and he took 2.5oz which left me feeling like a bad cruel mummy, then he didnt want to be put down for 2hrs and dd couldnt sleep - she went to bed at 10.30, tummy is sore and have had no time to get anything done!!!

Still tomorrow dd is at preschool, dp is at work so just me and bundle - ahhhhhh peace

cameroonmama · 04/06/2007 09:51

Julie, I wouldn't worry too much, my babies have all slept for pretty much 24 hours straight after birth with only a little feeding, its something the mw never tell you about! Its a chance for you to get some rest

Back to school today, getting dd and ds out of the door with J too at 8.30 plus pe kit, swimming bag, book bag and 2 lunchboxes was some kind of mission, how on earth do you manage it LG&T?? Still now the house is peaceful...

elkiedee · 04/06/2007 10:49

Congratulations Julie, does that mean you managed not to have to be induced?

I would seek professional advice re feeding and sleeping for your baby, do you have a community midwife or someone you can contact? There may be nothing to worry about, but I really stuffed up on feeding in Danny's first week - particularly in terms of letting him sleep and leaving too long between feeds, and he lost too much weight and was taken back into hospital a week after the birth, apparently this is not uncommon but it took 8 days to get out again and I was devastated by guilt over my failure as a new mum - he's medically fine now - 1 month old today -- in terms of weight gain and other health indicators, but the experience has also messed up my intentions to breastfeed him, he's mostly on formula milk.

BefnalBub · 04/06/2007 11:04

JW I found that once my milk came in L would sleep depending on the amount she fed. If she did 10 mins, she'd sleep 2 hours, 15-20 mins meant btw 3 and 5 hours. If she spat up feed, again sleeping would be reduced. Also when she is too warm she sleeps for longer - one to watch out for! Hope all is otherwise going well and let me know if you want to do another lunch with JL, this time with Archie!

xx

lilKelBel · 04/06/2007 15:33

Hiya - did you all see that Dejags' little girl is improving now? What a relief!!

We're doing ok here though S is still dropping weight we're giving it 2 more days then she'll go into hosp for an evaluation. I hope to God she won't end up in SCBU with tubes and such they way my DS did after he was born...[fear emoticon].

Take care everyone - sorry so short. x

scootermum · 04/06/2007 15:46

Oh hon...was just about to mail you on the other address to see how you were...
Let me know how you get on tomorrow with the evaluation then..hopefully it wont come to her having to go back in...lots of love to you both...

I did see about Dejags..good news I think..sending her lots of postive vibes for a continuing improvement for Carys..

Am just going over my hosp bag for tomorrow..baby still showing no signs of wanting to come out on her own..she will get a rude awakening tomorrow poor thing..

Hope everyone else is well..

scootermum · 04/06/2007 15:47

Sorry, the evaluation on Thursday will it be?

lilKelBel · 04/06/2007 16:22

don't forget your straighteners Scoot!

oh and I'm up for a London meetup in early July - will give us something to look forward to as the prospect of getting through the next few weeks is feeling pretty daunting at the mo...

scootermum · 04/06/2007 16:26

Gaah!Nowhere to plug them in!Am going to look like a proper fluff head..

We should def schedule something in for meeting up..give me something to aim for in terms of getting back to normal..(hark at her..she hasnt even had her baby yet! )

AbbyLou · 04/06/2007 17:15

Hi everyone
Lilkelbel sorry your lo is having a few problems - I'll keep my fingers crossed for the evaluation.
Ruby has had a much more settled day today after a brilliant night last night. I fed her at 11.45 then dh fed her at 4.45 which is a record for her. Both kids stayed asleep untill 7.10 so I had a glorious night's sleep and feel sooo much better. I still find I'm often having to wake her after 4 hours to feed but she's always ready for it when I do. I think she's maybe still tired as it usually takes her a while to drop off. She actually went down for a daytime sleep in her Moses basket today. It has been my plan to do this from day one but when I realised she was so reliant on the dummy I couldn't keep going upstairs every 5 seconds to shove it back in. Because of this she has been sleeping in her more upright rocker chair so the dummy stays in! Bad mummy alert1 However, enough is enough she is 4 weeks old now and I want her to be able to drop off to sleep in bed in the day as well as she does at night.
She weighed 9lb 3oz today at 4 weeks, up from 7lb 9oz born so hv was pleased with her.

elkiedee · 04/06/2007 17:20

If there's to be a London meet up I'd be interested in knowing details of where and when if I'm allowed to gatecrash (I was due in April so have posted in ante and postnatal threads there, but baby was induced in May). As I'm going away for a few days in early July, I will just say those arranging it choose dates that suit you guys and please let me know when.

MKG · 04/06/2007 17:59

Hi everyone! Well everyone in the MKG house is sick except for Cruz . . .so far. Ds1 got a cold gave it to dh, who gave it to me, hopefully Cruz won't get it. Am off to try to sleep.

Is it me or is breastfeeding really physically taxing, I do it and I sweat the whole time, and even though I'm getting plenty of sleep I am exhausted all the time.

AbbyLou · 04/06/2007 18:48

MKG sorry you're all poorly. You've obviously given Cruz a super duper immune system if he has resisted it!
Tbh I admire anyone who breastfeeds. I tried it both times but it just wasn't for me. I think with the tiredness you feel anyway it's doubly hard if you have to get up to do all the feeds yourself.

aprilmeadow · 04/06/2007 19:12

Sorry to hear that the MKG household is not feeling too good.

I have been b'fing for 8weeks (well 8wks tomorrow - cant believe that she is that old already) and I am not finding the tiredness too much of an issue thankfully. I guess i am pretty lucky as Ella is a fast feeder takes about 15mins and then about 10mins to wind - well on a good day. I have noticed that the sweating seems to have calmed down a bit, either that or i have just gotten used to it Dh says that i am like a radiator at night when not pregnant or bf'ing. By the time J was this old I had pretty much stopped feeding him and a good 6 out of 8 feeds were formula and the dreaded af had returned - was gutted when they came back so soon!

Had a little tea party here today for J and his friends, it was really lovely but my goodness the mess and devastation that was left behind

Had a really busy day all in all.. Had to collect dh and ds from Heathrow as their flight to Southampton got cancelled and dh decided to fly to LHR rather than wait until late this pm to go on the re-scheduled one. Once i had collected them we had to drive to Southampton and pick up his car! Got home 10 minutes before all the kids arrived!

BBC is now on its third night, she was so tired that she had been bathed and fed by 6.50pm, fingers crossed for a good night to prove to dh that it can be done

Glad to hear that little Carys is turning the corner.

I would be up for a July meet up. I know that MrsJB is over at the beginning of July for a family wedding.... maybe we could try and co-inside...

scootermum · 04/06/2007 19:42

oh yay!Lets do it when Mrs JB is here then!

Im having a baby tomorrow, one way or another,(if not before, ha!)tra la la la...I will be able to see my knees again!

Madeindevon has been taken in tonight for her induction! So lots of lovely labour vibes for her..

Very impressed with your BBC..April..DH will be very pleased with its success I reckon..

Sorry to hear you are feeling poorly MKG..(But any chance of one of your lovely cheers for me tomorrow?..spent the last month waiting for one so a shame to miss out now I think..even if it will be a bit of a snot ridden one!)

Love to all..

ShowOfHands · 04/06/2007 19:45

Both me and MrsJB are at weddings on July 7th, so avoid that day at all costs.

SOH Jr has been asleep for 3hrs and it's very hot. I know I have to wake her for a feed, I really do but she looks so peaceful and the house is so quiet...

aprilmeadow · 04/06/2007 20:04

Scoot who will you be contacting to tell of Mae's arrival?

SOH, thats great 3hrs if you do a dream feed then she may go straight back down.... fingers crossed.

Dh is very impressed at the BBC, although E has woken once already so i fed her again, she did fall asleep whilst feeding so i guess she wasnt full. And J didnt wake when she cried so thats good.

Good luck to MID

Yoohoo - know I'm not really allowed in yet, but just wanted to say hello!

Pod not interested in meeting his mum and dad. He's got until Sunday then its hospital and induction. Still hoping for the home birth, but he will need to make an effort soon!

Glad you're all doing ok.

ShowOfHands · 04/06/2007 21:19

I have TYG's number, plus LWatkins, Tam and MID'S..So will text all of them, (as will be overexcited I shouldnt wonder, and hope someone is online at the time!)
Or Mr Scoot will post any news...(if anyone is still interested-its been dragging on so long..)

Typically I feel quite twingey in my back tonight so probably will end up getting no sleep at all..hey ho..

DH and I have just been out for a nice tea in the pub which was lovely...hopefully tomorrow we will have our offer on the new house accepted as well as a baby(touch wood), so it will be a red letter day chez Scoot..

Thanks all for all of your 'good lucks' for tomorrow..
Seems really wierd to know that I will pretty soon be certain to be in abject agony...but cant wait to meet the baby now!

Night all xx
