Good Morning Everyone...
first and foremost:
º¤ø,¸¸,ø¤º°º¤ø,¸¸,ø¤º°º¤ø,¸¸,ø¤º° HAPPY BIRTHDAY MABEL º¤ø,¸¸,ø¤º°º¤ø,¸¸,ø¤º°º¤ø,¸¸,ø¤º°
hope its a nice day for you!

Cori - sounds like a drastic change in hairstyle. i can never understand how people just "dont notice". Either way, im sure it's gorgeous! Sounds super cute (i luv short hair styles, could never go long again)

on the children's medicine topic, a couple of you have recently said that nurofen works the best for your lo's. Have you ever tried Calpol with them? Thats the only thing i've ever used so far and i'm beginning to think it's "lost" its effect. (if that makes sense). Being from the states, i was raised on ibuprofen based pain relief and its always done the trick fast and right the first dose. perhaps i should give nurofen a try...

Grrr - sorry to hear about the wetness of ds1. but ds2 is doing all the same that my ds is doing now. it makes me so nervous because i cant just pop out of the room for a second now for fear that he will be climbing on everything or rather, falling off the sides of the furniture. we've had no other choice but to set up his travel cot in the front room and its been a godsend! i can leave the room momentarily without worry.

Fairysnuff!! good to see you pop in! Hello Hello!

the last 2 nights, ds has had nasty fevers and is particularily more whiney with his "words". i'm trying to feed him breakfast at the moment, porridge oats with fruit, which he's had before...but today, he's not really taking to them. so i put a couple raisins on his table, and he's not even taking them in like he normally does. OR his sippy cup of water... hmmmm teething perhaps? i just dont know...i'll just keep the cuddles coming for him, seeing he;s clearly uncomfortable.

hi everyone. been really busy lately so just had a quick look through some posts now.

dd1's 3rd birthday yesterday, we went to chester zoo. it was a lovely day and was really cheap for us as i got in for free as i'm dd1's career and both kids got in for free as they're both in buggies still so only had to pay for dp.

been trying to get dd2 off the breast still but not having any luck, she's so stubborn. there's 1 beaker she's finally sucking from but it comes out too quickly so she spits it out.

she's still not crawling yet, she can now lift her bum up but she is still only holding herself up at the front with her elbows. she does turn around though. i'm not too worried as dd1 was almost 2 when she started to crawl due to poor muscle tone and i know she'll be crawling long before that. she's very good on her legs so i wouldn't be surprised if she walked before she crawled.

MunkiBaby · 15/05/2007 10:52

awww i love chester zoo! i have been thinking about taking my ds but dh says he's too young to appreciate it...i say there's no time like the present to expose him to things other than the inside of the car and the house! lol so i'll probably go anyways. dh will be at work.

MunkiBaby · 15/05/2007 10:54

oops! sorry kream, meant to ask: did dd1 enjoy her special day?? did she brave it through the smelly batcave??

bristols · 15/05/2007 12:54

Happy Birthday Mabel! Sorry, I can't do pretties like Munki!

No movement here either. Two of the LOs from our antenatal class came round yesterday and they're both on the move. DS just watched them in awe but I'm not sure it inspired him. They looked so cute, crawling everywhere. Although I quite like the fact that I can put DS down and he'll stay in one place. Munki - am thinking of putting the travel cot in our kitchen. Its really big and the floor is tiled and DS scoots around in his walker which used to be fine because he never used to get far. Yesterday I found him next to the cooker with the oven door open Thankfully it wasn't on but a worry all the same. I can't leave him sitting with his toys in case he falls backwards onto the hard floor.

On the subject of zoos etc, I think its good to take them to these places from a young age. My DS loves looking at all the new sights and especially all the other people. Can be a bit embarrassing when he just stares at someone though!

Coriander73 · 15/05/2007 14:32

bristols, just put some cushions behind him!!

Happy Birthday Mabel

dd1 loved her day out and dd2 behaved herself (she's been such a hard baby i think due to her being so early). we went everywhere with them including the bat cave!

we're going again for dd2's birthday as i think with her behaving so well she must have enjoyed it. i've learnt with having dd1 who has special needs that they might not show much interest but it doesn't mean they're not interested!

bristols · 15/05/2007 21:12

Cori - I would, but he always seems to find the gap!

Marls001 · 15/05/2007 21:14

Hi everyone! Just checking in ... congrats MrsHP on being an aunt!

Just got back from Jamaica. DH and I really, really needed that. I am very tan now (I call it "sun damaged" ) but we had a fabulous time.
Glad to hear lots of you have been getting away. This vacation got us thinking about when we'll be able to do it again!! Just so nice to just be a person & a best friend for a few days ...

I think matching underwear is great! Love Cosabella ... sexy & comfortable!

After Mom & Dad's influence have had to re-train DS1 that whining isn't tolerated & re-train Jameson to hold his own bottle

Jameson cut 1st tooth while we were gone! Is nearly standing by himself! Holds on with one hand.

Cori - cut 10" of my hair for "locks of love" once! Was quite a change! Definitely less high-maintenance; glad you're enjoying it!!

Marls001 · 15/05/2007 21:15

Happy Bday Mabel!!

HenriettaHippo · 15/05/2007 21:32

Happy birthday Mabel, I hope you had a good lunch? Were you all out, or just you and DH?

Hello Grrr.

KK, glad to hear you enjoyed the zoo. Bristol zoo is one of our favourite 'outings' - we're lucky it's only 5 mins away, and I could walk if I were really energetic and fancied walking up a huge hill with 3 stone in the buggy (DS1 and 2, not just DS"!!). I think F gets quite a lot out of it, esp when we see the fish and the monkeys, as they move around so much. He also likes the lions. They've got a baby gorilla at the moment, which is really cute, and a toddler one, so the gorilla house is always fun too.

Bristols, can you get something to keep the oven door shut so DS can't open it? You reminded me about child proofing... oh no! We took the view with DS1 that we wouldn't lock any cupboards in the kitchen, but anything dangerous like knives or bleach is kept up on a high shelf he couldn't get to. He used to love banging saucepans, and now makes "soup" out of magnetic letters. MMmmm, tasty. I tried the travel cot in the kitchen too, he was happy in it for about 5 mins. I'm not a fan of play pens anyway (unless I can escape the carnage into it...!).

Fairy, how was your night? Munkibaby, I hope you have a good night tonight. Have you tried Medised - like calpol but with added sedative to "aid restful sleep". It is marvellous, really helps clear the nose!

Glad you all had lovely weekends, and trips away - v. jealous of Jamaica on your own Marls! I spent Sunday with food poisoning from a king prawn curry on Friday night (I think.). Not so nice!!!

Now, tell me if I am being unreasonable here - went to the gym earlier and both DSs were in the creche. Had the buggy with me with all my millions of bags in it -second useful function as a trolley..! Changed in the adult only section, which is big, and parked the buggy in a corner. I got told off as it was the adult only section and I had an empty buggy with me. Now someone's being ridiculous???? IS it me?

Forgot to say a couple of weeks ago, Cori, I think teaching Spanish would be great, but as an ex teacher, avoid doing it in a classroom!! You can earn loads doing tutoring for GCSE I think.

MunkiBaby · 15/05/2007 21:47

I have always felt the same about taking him to new places. i absolutely LOVE the awe and interested look on his face just for being somewhere new. ds enjoys being in new places...and youre right: plenty of faces for his to look at (and stare!) Ds was even interested being on a public bus a couple weeks ago. ((hubby takes car so im a total public transporter)) i just dont understand why DH thinks he's not old enough to enjoy it...DH of all people is all about educating our ds...maybe he wasnt really listening to me as i talked about it. hahaha.

((OH! and Bristol - i cant do pretties either, I CHEATED! i went to ebay and did a little bit of copy/paste magic! heheh

Cori ~ i was putting cushions around ds to relieve any bangs on the head. i can't do that anymore because he crawls around everywhere and pulls himself up in totally random places. however, i do still put cushions around the corners of the baseboards...i just dont seem to have enough cushions!!

Ok thats me done for the night. now im going to get back to The F Word and my wine. ((i keep switching back to bbc news24 to check for updates on Maddy's return! ((im soo hopeful for them that she is alive and being taken care of...and it feels like they are getting closer and closer to getting her back)) to lose a child to death is one thing (although still very sad) but to lose a child and to be unsure of its where-abouts has got to be such an awful...well, we all can only imagine. the mum must be so empty, vacant on the inside.

ok ok. i'll stop. im only getting myself upset . think good thought for their family.

Goodnite everyone.

mabel1973 · 16/05/2007 09:59

hi all

thanks so much for the birthday wishes. i had a lovely day thanks.
The hens managed to produce an egg for my breakfast (they have been on strike since we came back from hols and keep clucking at me like they are cross with me!)
DS1 went to pre-school at 9am and we dropped DS2 off at MIL's and then she picked up DS1 at 12 for us, which meant we were free!
Dh took me for lunch at a lovely country 'gastro-pub' then we popped in to town so i could spend a bit of birthday money.
We grabbed some take away pizzas from Zizzi's and had them later on with a DVD (the devil wears prada...basically ugly betty except she's not ugly....wasn't exactly a 'challenging film!)

No crawling as such hear still just 'tummy surfing'!
Anyway - have to go, we have a friend and her Ds and DD popping over to trash the house !!!!

Marls001 · 16/05/2007 20:07

HH - OMG, someone ELSE is being ridiculous!

Just read about Maddy.
It's true; it's not getting coverage over here in the US, especially considering all that's been on the news everywhere in the UK.

Will pass info on to my local Moms' clubs in Houston and here. Might be new news to many of them.

Though if anywhere I doubt they'll bring her to the US.

I would be beside myself. She could be anywhere. Hopefully all the coverage will lead to her soon!

fairysnuff · 16/05/2007 21:08

Cheers HH, She slept really well last night and has gone down a dream again tonight
No idea what was up with her that night.
Well, it could have been the cold, she now has, was hitting her.
snottery nose and a croupy (?) cough.
I know hang my head in shame, but I took her to the doc for something so simple.
But if it were me, I would want cough medicine to ease my throat!
But all they recommened was Calpol, or the cheap version anyway. No point in paying £4 odds when you can get their cheapo option for free eh?

at all you lot getting to go away. No such luck for me. I am hinting to DH that I would maybe like to rent a house in Spain for a week. Take his parents, as free babysitters, but he is not taking me up on it
Must try harder!

MunkiBaby · 16/05/2007 22:08

Marls - this web page was just made today regarding Maddy and her family...
also for those here in the UK who haven't seen it,
CLICKHERE

HenriettaHippo · 17/05/2007 09:14

morning all,

Glad to hear things are back on track munki!

Not much news here. Poor Fraser is suffering with separation anxiety, so he cries when I drop him at nursery, and then cries again whenever another mummy comes in to drop off/pick up, and cries again when I arrive to pick him up.

Marls, I can't believe it's getting no coverage in the US. Like you said, she could be anywhere, and the more people who are aware, the more possible it is someone will spot her. I don't pray, but if I did, I would.

BTW, anyone heard from Liquidclocks? She hasn't been around for a while? Hope everything's all right.

HenriettaHippo · 17/05/2007 09:15

sorry, I meant fairysnuff about your good night! Parent-brain hits again

MunkiBaby · 17/05/2007 10:06

Ha! i was wondering about that HH. I started reading back on the posts i made to see where i was off track ((well, im always a little off track, but whether or not i admit it is another thing!))

on that note, fairy, glad that your nights have been back on track...and sorry about the sep anxiety. i suspect my ds has started his clingy to mommy phase. every once in a while (lately) he moans when he realizes i've stepped out of the room. i can only imagine that it can be hard for you knowing he's feeling this distress. Hopefully, its a short phase!

Coriander73 · 17/05/2007 15:46

hello compo!!!

We have my cousins wedding in Richmond on Saturday...only the 2nd night away together since DD was born 2yrs 8 months ago!!! Quite looking fw to it..I did sort of promise DH that his luck maybe in....not that he looked entirely up for it! Still a few drinks later & no children to wake us up at 6am should encourage him....:

Coriander73 · 17/05/2007 19:34

HA! I'd like to think she's my virtual stalker (!!) but alas not we just crossed on another thread..... Gosh compo, seems like ages ago we were on the ttc Jan 2006 thread eh?!!!

Children are in bed, DH not home until 8.30 & I have to attack the housework (DH on his own with them today & the mess is just unbelievable) as MIL coming tm to babysit whilst we're at wedding. We do get on extremely well but you know how it is don't you when the MIL comes to your house...?!!
