Hello...

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
clairemow · 03/05/2007 09:27

OMG, I was away for 10 days, and now I can't catch up. I read all of the old thread, and then found there was a new one!!! so sorry, I'm meant to be working and can't read all this one... will try later.

We had a great time in Centerparcs (the Wiltshire one). I love it. I've never been to the Sherwood Forest one. I think the journey from here would be a good 3-4 hours in a car, not sure about train, bet I'd have to go via London. Yuk.

Was in London yesterday for work, when I got home I cleansed my face, you should have seen the colour of the muck that came off...

No crawling here, but F can sit up, lean forward and put his hands down, his nose on the floor, and then sit back up again, so his back's getting nice and strong. I think we have an 8 month check here, so I imagine they'll measure, weigh, check he's sitting etc.

BTW, I don't know how much F weighs, but at 32 weeks, DS1 was 21lb 10oz, 91st centile, which was pretty humungous! Fraser is nowhere near as chubby, I would guess he's around 19/20 lbs.

clairemow · 03/05/2007 09:32

calvemjoe, you've made me worry about my name now, it's pretty close to my real name... So I'm going to change too.... wait a few moments, and I'll post back on... mind you, not that I post much that's contraversial..!!

HenriettaHippo · 03/05/2007 09:39

Ok, here I am in my new persona...

Coriander73 · 03/05/2007 11:21

Loving the name Henrietta!!!!!

Well, I've been sending a few CVs out today, rather specutively it must be said. SO bored at work...I can see that they are bypasing me on major things now & it sucks to be honest. Why not send me on garderning leave I wonder?

J is huge!! I haven't had him weighed for 3 weeks but he was 18lb last time but he just seems to heavy..a little budda is what DH calls him. BTW, how many of you still give 4 bottles? I'm sure DD had dropped down to 3 if not almost 2 by now but J seems very reluctant to give them up. As we're sort of BLW I know that milk needs to be consistent but I'm worried that maybe his having too much? Maybe I'll speak to the HV...

HenriettaHippo · 03/05/2007 11:59

Cori, thanks! HH was a character at the oh so lovely caravan park we stayed in a few weeks ago in Newquay - DS1 was enamoured...

Could you ask for gardening leave? Maybe there's a compromise position whereby you could leave now and have 6 weeks' pay or something, although they don't sound that generous...

Personally I wouldn't worry too much about the milk. F is having 3 bottles a day now, but mostly because he was rejecting the mid morning one. I make sure he has yoghurt, milk based food at some point in the day. I know if you are BLW, it's likely that he's taking in less food than via the traditional spoonfeeding route, but from what I've read that isn't a problem, just he's regulating his intake. So long as he's trying new things and is eating ok, I wouldn't worry if I were you. The BLW crowd would, I'm sure, be horrified at a baby only having 3 milk feeds a day, and would say that milk should be the main nutrition for a year. Sounds like J is putting himself somewhere in the middle. And let's face it, making a bottle is easier than making a meal...!!! . Do you give him solids, then offer the bottle or the other way round? I guess if you're giving him the bottle first, it would limit his solid intake?

mabel1973 · 03/05/2007 14:06

great name HH!

we are still on 4 milk feeds a day. I was thinking about trying to drop the 11am one but he still seems to want it, he is having 1 bottle and 3 bf's now, i am trying to tail it off, so am just BFing morning and evening.
Well Ds2 has an ear infection, it would explain the awful night we had with him on tuesday, i noticed yestreday afternoon that he had waxy discharge - yeuk! so got an emergency app. at the docs and he ison antibiotics now.
I have been running round like crazy getting a million and one things done before we go on hols, so thought I'd just spend 5 mins checking in with you all.
If i don't get chance tommorow, i'll be back on line in 10 days time!
Byeeeeee

compo · 03/05/2007 14:22

Mabel -poor ds but hope you have a lovely holiday
Coriander - dd is still having 4 bottles a day here. She is huge too I did think ds was having 3 at this stage too but I'm not in any hurry to change things - I don't think I want her to grow up as she's my last Hope work isn't being too crapy today... how much longer do you have to go?

Coriander73 · 03/05/2007 14:36

compo, I finish on July 18th...how I can curtail my boredom for that long I just don't know!

c..oopss HH (!!) J has bottle about 7ish, then breakfast. Bottle at 11am then lunch about midday ish. We haven't to be fair tried feeding him first them bottle which is what we did we DD (well, I'm almost sure we did). Then he has bottle about 3, tea at 4 then bed & bottle at 6.30-7. He does seem to be leaving a few more oz here & there but overall he just doesn't want to drop his milk. Yes the BLW lobby would freak...! J does have a spoon for his weetabix & yogs (which probably makes me a hythen in their eyes) other than that he does want to do it all.. MIL is down for a few days so yday their routine went out the window! I ended up giving them tea when I got home from work at 5.45!! Anyhow, MIL sat there mouth agog at J chomping away on mango & pear...I also tried him with some blueberries! I was very very nervous but I thought he'd be able to chew them & surely they're too small to get lodged in their throats (?)...& he did really well (don't think MIL approved at all!!!)

Hi everyone! I seem to have a little more time now that Lizzie sleeps so well and DS spends so much time in the garden soooooooo, do you all mind if I join in again? Please!!!!

I promise to keep up this time!

Coriander73 · 03/05/2007 17:02

Welcome back..

OP posts:
compo · 04/05/2007 09:06

Cori - can't you just go off sick with 'stress' and enjoy the sunshine for the next couple of months on full pay?

Welcome back Homemama Of course you don't have to ask if you can come back We are a very friendly bunch here. I've seen elsewhere posters objecting to other antenatal thread titles... we've managed not to upset anyone with our little thread.
Glad Lizzie is sleeping so well, isn't it all getting so much easier than the early days?

homemama · 04/05/2007 10:29

Thanks girls. Yes compo, I can't believe how different my life is to 3 months ago. When you're struggling through the first 3mths (even if it's your second baby) you just can't imagine it's ever going to end.
I must be mad to be so broody!

Sorry about your work situation, Cori. The weather can't be helping. Still at least it's a bank holiday w/e!

HH, sorry you've had to name change. I'm not a regular namechanger but I've got another nickname which I use when I want to post about anything local such as schools, nurseries or my village. It means anything Ive posted on a discussion thread isn't linked to anything that could identify me. Gosh, maybe that's a bit cowardly of me
On that note; Has norms rejoined with a new name cause she was having trouble too?

Marls, the dallas houses look lovely. I've been to dallas. We went to visit the 'grassy knoll' at dealey plaza. It's really strange there; such an ordinary open place but such a spooky atmosphere. I think it's just knowing what happened there.
I have a friend wholives in boulder,CO. I've never been but the whole state looks stunning.

Mabel, I hope DS's ear infection clears up and enjoy your hols!

Jinglebelle and bristols, sorry to hear about lo's accidents. DD looks like scarface at the moment as she has an enormous scratch down her face caused by falling off our bed and scratching herself on the side of the radiator. I felt like I was up in court when I admitted what had happened to DH! Oh well!

homemama · 04/05/2007 10:35

I'm just now laughing at the fact that I change my name to post about local issues yet I'm happy to use my children's names on this thread. So anyone could come on here and say, homemama, SAHM of J and E (known affectionately as L) I know her!!!
Let's hope nobody else is interested in our post-natal thread!

HenriettaHippo · 04/05/2007 10:40

ha ha homemama!! I didn't have to change it, I just often felt a bit uncomfortable as it was close to my rl name (which you'll know if you've been on our yahoo site!). HH is nothing like it!! When I first joined MN, I had absolutely no idea about posting, nicknames etc. and just put the first thing that came into my head. Bit less naive now maybe!!

puppy · 04/05/2007 12:19

Hiya remember me?

Just thought I would pop in and say hello as I Was reading our last antenatal thread. Can't believe that was over seven months ago where has the time gone?

So how are you and the little ones getting on?

Will have to put some time to one side to read and catch up on you all.

Coriander73 · 04/05/2007 17:27

Hi Puppy! Gosh, you're all coming back from the past eh?!!

Just got back from London - treated myself (whilst I can!!!!) to a haircut & colour (too many grey hairs beginning to appear now which I will embrace one day but not quite at 33 (34 2nd June!!) I've gone a bit drastic...had the lot chopped offf so much so DD just didn't seem to like what she saw! She realised it was me but just kept looking at saying "Mummy, what done to hair"....don't know what DH will think but I just had to get it chopped this time as I just don't have the time or energy needed to blow dry it nice... He still doesn't understand why I keep on going back to London for my hair...it's hard for him to understand that I've had the same guy cut my hair for 7 years & whilst I've tried local salons they just don't cut the mustard! He also thinks they still cost £20 a pop...(same as thinking bras only cost a tenner....

bristols · 04/05/2007 17:35

My LO is on three bottles a day. As far as I can remember, they should be having 20oz a day at this stage. Obviously, that includes the milk in their food too.

Homey - I know what you mean about the first three months. Very hard and it feels as though it's never going to end. I have to admit, my two friends came round with their five week olds this week and I just thought 'I'm glad that's not me!'

Cori - sorry work is so dreadful. I can imagine. Its horrible when you know you're leaving. You just want to go! Agree, you should get signed off work by your GP. What difference would it make?

Mablel - hope your LO gets better soon. Have a fantastic holiday. Where are you off to? My DH is off next week too. We're off to Manchester tomorrow to visit FIL. Then we'll be back on Monday. We're off to Windsor on Wednesday til Saturday. Can't wait. We're in a hotel with a spa and pool and we're going to go to Windsor Castle and Legoland and just chill out. Can't wait. Dh hasn't had any time off since DS was born so we're going to really enjoy it. (Or be ready to kill each other by the end of the week!!)

Off out tonight with my RL post natal group. I'd rather be going out with you lot though. I know you all much better! Apart from the babies I have very little in common with them. They're all quite a bit older than me. But it will be good for me to go out without either of my boys. And the place we're going to does lovely pizza! Can't decide whether to drive or not... Could do with a few bevs to help with the conversation but if I drive, I can make a hasty get away.

bristols · 04/05/2007 17:36

Cori - I spent two years travelling 150 miles each way to have my hair cut before I found a local salon that I trusted. I understand!

Coriander73 · 04/05/2007 20:15

I'm having a glass of wine...dutch courage before DH comes in & critises my hair

OP posts:
fairysnuff · 04/05/2007 20:44

Cori, what did he say?
How long was it before?

Ivor · 04/05/2007 21:45

LOL about the hair cut, I'm lucky if DH notices, know what you mean about not being bothered with the blow drying. I grew mine, long for me while I was pg but 3 months after had it all chopped off again!

Had a bit of a bummer today, the owner of the house we put an offer on doesn't want to negoiate, so thats that back to searching!
The houseing market is a bit grim over here very much a buyers market so we were surprised he did'nt even want to counter the offer.
I knew I should'nt of thought about it too much, I had everything planned. Ohh poo, I'm off to open a bottle of wine.

Sorry to hear about the bumped heads, Arnica cream all round

Ivor · 04/05/2007 21:47

Just read that back, after posting it, and have seen all the mistakes.
Wish this had a spell checker
Apologies if anyone is offended by my crapola English!

fairysnuff · 04/05/2007 22:14

I know how you feel ivor, I have given up on thoughts of that house next to mums.
It just wasn't our dream, I will have to settle (petal) and wait for the timing to be right for us to build the house of our dreams.
ie. when the perfect plot of land comes onto the market for the right price.

The country beckons, for us!
Preferably with aview to die for or some trees (very much an amazing thing to find them growing upwards up here, generally they grow sidey ways, cos of the wind)

I could never cut all my hair off! I tried it when I was in college and just felt I looked a fright for about three years until it grew back to a reasonable length! Never again!!

Before and after pics please, cori ?

LadyOfTheFlowers · 04/05/2007 22:15

hiya ladies!

hell yes i am broody again!
and i only have 14m between the two!

dh says 'no way, not yet'.

compo · 04/05/2007 22:16
