[LC sticks head around corner and waves ]

Hi everybody! Sorry I haven't been around for a bit. Have been on MN occaisionally but not long enough free to catch up properly. Had a very hectic month what with sorting out my Grandpa's house and finally starting my new job. I also took on an allotment (mad aren't I!) and I've been playing around with my meds again so been pretty ill in the evenings and days off. Anyway - finally getting back on track so should be able to keep up a bit more now

Nice to see some old names back and some new names switched - may have to do mine as SIL has admitted to lurking on MN and there's some stuff about me on here that the IL side of the family don't know but debating whether that bothers me. Can't decide right now, no energy and no creativity for thinking up fun new names!

DS1's doing well but unfortunately DS2's giving us some worries. He doesn't seem to be losing some of his baby relfexes as quicklu as you'd expect and that's hindering his physical development. He's 8 months next week and can't sit yet - and only just lost the tongue thrust reflex last week so we can finally get some food down him (BLW out the window in this house). Socially though he seems to be doing well and is generally very alert and happy and making 'duh duh duh' sounds so at least that's good. HV's coming next week after seeing him for 5 mins today, she wants' to do his proper 8 month check before making any decisions about what to do with him.

Cori- sorry that you've ended up quitting your job. I hope something better comes your way soon and you look back on this time as 'when it all changed for the better' IYSWIM. Would love to see your hair - pics on the yahoo group yet?

Marls - good luck with the moving decision, I know I'd love to be nearer to my parents for babysitting ease but it would drive DH mad and certainly not worth our marriage!

Well, DH has just popped out for a good bottle of red and I have a very tasty homemade bolognese sauce to defrost before he gets back so best be off - been good to read all your messages though and will try and be a bit more regular agin now

liquidclocks · 17/05/2007 20:10

(DH just came back with a lovely bunch of red roses )

compo · 17/05/2007 20:37

aw bless your dh LiquidClocks - good to hear from you. Can't remember what meds you're on but hope you feel better soon. Re the sitting up - dd doesn't really sit up on her own unless she's propped up. Ds was a late developer - didn't crawl until 1 , walk until 22 months and talk until well past 2 so I'm determined not to stress too much this time!

Lol at virtual stalker Yes it seems an age since we were on the Jan '06 thread. Feeling really nostalgic tonight. Can't have another because get very low in the first 3 months (the sleep deprivation kills me!) but I do miss the feeling of being pregnant, the excitement of the scans and finding out the sex, arrgghh - someone talk sense into me

MunkiBaby · 17/05/2007 22:01

Hello again compo & LC!

LC- how very very nice of dh.

Compo - if there was such a thing, i'd insert an emoticon that expressed shaking some sense into you. hehehe. no i take it back. that would make me such a hypocrite. i, too, have been feeling the same way again. in fact, the title of this new Sept Babies thread says it all for some of us. ((who chose the name for the lastest thread, anyhow?? its spot on))

Cori - i dont envy you, but i totally agree...it is very different when the MIL comes to our houses...ESPECIALLY when they are staying overnight!

*Oh and someone mentioned updating photos on the yahoo group site...oh i remember. it was about coriander's new do! it reminded me that i hadnt put anything on there of ds since..well, xmas i think. Have a browse! ((Yes please! I'd luv to see your new do, Cori!))

Coriander73 · 17/05/2007 22:29

I chose the name munki!!! I think it's safe to say that most of us are feeling a little broody....whether we chose to do something about it is another matter

compo, you have sounded quite ademant up until this evening that you didn't want anymore...why?! If it helps at all I do know what you mean about finding out your pg, having scans, feeling baby move..but does that feeling ever go I wonder? I'm definitely going through a none broody phase at the moment....but still can't quite bring myself to say never ever again - even though I really do loathe pregnancy & the fact that I'd have to undergo the knife again- Maybe it's just a mother instinct, whatever you want to call it that just never leaves no matter how nany children you have (maybe I'm just talking nonsense, who knows?!!) It's when you sort out the newborn clothes that gets me every time Can you believe I put Jack in 9-12 months babygro that was his sister's this evening?!!! All 21lb of him...

Will get some pics posted..have yet to take any with short hair!

Hey LC!

Hi again Liquid! It's great to hear from you!

Munki, thanks for that web page.
Have posted "anyone heard anything about this?" to moms' group; no one had - how embarrassing for our news. I assure y'all I was sick to death (ha! no pun intended) of Anna Nicole Smith even before she passed ... now they've a chance to overdo something that actually needs overdoing & there'll be nothing on Entertainment Tonight about Maddy & only a brief mention on the Today Show.

Cori - My thing is definitely the baby clothes as well. . But ... when asked if we're going to have another ("aren't you going to try for a girl?") I just say "two and through."
I will never forget how it felt to be 50 lbs overweight with a 90-year-old's joints every morning!! Now (after a lot of work) I'm a US size 2 & in the best shape of my life ... so hmmm ...pg again ... letmethinkaboutthatnope.
(Still being woken up though!!! Teething ... sigh.)

Coriander73 · 18/05/2007 08:49

A US size 2?! That's a UK 6... ....have never & will never be qa size 6, or an 8, or an 10...maybe a comfortable 12 again one day but for now a small 14 (!!).... .....(still have half a stone to go...)

OP posts:
compo · 18/05/2007 09:14

very at Marls US size 2! Don't lose any more or you'll be the dreaded size zero
Back to my non broody self this morning (phew). Good job really as have given away all the wee clothes. Dd is also in 9-12 vests and sleepsuits. Haven't had her weighed since8 weeks but guess she's probably aroud the 21lb mark. And now that the eating has taken off it's only going to go up until she gets mobile i guess!
Ds was a right pain last night. Woke up at 2am and then 5am for the day Me and dh getting really ratty with him. Then this morning he refused to let me put his shoes on for nursery - only dh could do it apparently. He has skipped the terrible two's but is making up for it with the awful three's that's for sure

HenriettaHippo · 18/05/2007 09:48

hi all,

LC, good to see you back. Sorry to hear that you're worried about DS2 - I hope everything will be all right, and you are reassured soon. Babies all do seem to develop so differently. Fraser's only been sitting up without me fearing him falling over suddenly for about 2 weeks.

compo, glad to hear the broodiness has passed...!! Know what you mean about the baby clothes. F is in 6-12/9-12 clothes too, mostly because he's quite long, although weighs less, about 19lbs. What DS1 weighed at 6 months !!

Marls - US size 2 !! . I was really chuffed when we went to San Francisco and I could buy US size 6 - that's a 10 here. I'm usually an average 12. Have been running quite a lot recently and swimming, so hoping to stay on the 10-12 mark... 10 up top, 12 for the arse!!!

compo, my DS1 was awake this morning at 6. We've now got him in nappy pants at night, and every morning he wakes up, does a poo in the potty in his room and then gets back into bed - or onto the window sill, where he then bangs the window to try and wake us up in the room next door. We are trying to ignore it, in an attempt to see if the "ignore behaviour you don't like" thing works... He too wouldn't let me put his shoes on today - I want Daddy to do it. I want Daddy to take me to pre-school. Aaargh. I had enough, so told him he couldn't choose and I was taking him. Cue me waiting on wall for him to moan and groan his way off the drive onto the pavement. Caaarrrry me, caaarrry me. AAAAAARRRRRRGGGGGGHHHHHHH!!!!!!

He is 3 on Monday... We have a party tomorrow in the garden - 10 little people, and all their mums and dads. so if it rains, it'll be a nightmare!! We are aiming for a BBQ. Might have to get the old 1970s big frame tent out... Keep your fingers crossed for us...

mabel1973 · 18/05/2007 12:01

HH - good luck with the party tommmrow.
I am thinking about trying potty training with DS1 again, I think he could do it if i stuck with it, the older DS2 gets the harder it is going to be.

Well after the disruption of our holiday we have had 2 full nights sleep - yipee! I am dosing Ds2 up with calpol at 6pm, then giving him another dose at 10pm, just to keep on top of the pain, I know it's not great to keep him drugged but he is suffering so much, he might as well have his medicine while I am up, rather than waking me at 3am for it.

Marls a size 2! that is teeny weeny - how tall are you? I hope you are kylie proportions!
I am a 12, but fairly tall, I am happy with my weight just not my shape, I've been doing yoga for about 3 months now and can't see my saddlebags and tummy disappearing.

I have no idea what ds2 weighs, i really ought to get him weighed, he's been in 9-12 months stuff since he was about 7 months, and is now wearing clothes that DS1 grew out of at about 18 months, he is quite long, but also very broad, he has massive hands and feet...not sure if babies are the same as puppies, where you can tell how big they are going to be by the size of their paws!

kreamkrackers · 18/05/2007 16:03

hi everyone. dd2 is still in 6-9 month clothes, she's still quite small from being born so early, she would have been 9lb though if she'd gone full term! she's still a lot bigger than dd1 was at this age due to all dd1's health problems.

i'm so unbelievably broody again. i thought i nearly was pg again and it got me thinking about it way too much. i know it wouldn't be right for us to have another one yet but i can't help the way i feel. we're moving house next month and i still need to learn how to drive before having another one.

dd2 is full of a cold atm, she keeps waking up covered in snot and screaming. she's become really clingy with it. dd1 also has it and isn't too bad this time, she used to end up in alder hey a lot needing oxygen and iv fluids when she wasn't keeping anything through her gastrostomy down. i think it's because she can move these days (still only crawling but nearly there with the walking).

i'm a size 16 now and can't seem to shift the weight. i was a size 8 before having dd1 so miss being slim, can't believe i used to feel fat back then!

been having trouble with a wisdom tooth coming through and now have antibiotics because it's infected. had such a hard time trying to get a dentist, ended up having to go private in the end.

lc, don't worry about development all babies develop at different rates. some might be fast getting into crawling then might be slow at walking, others are slow at crawling but only a few days later they can be walking. with having dd1 with sn i can see that even though dd2 is nowhere near sitting and even though i put her on her front about 10 times a day she still only lifts her bum up and gives that a wiggle she is so much stronger and she will get there soon.

hh, no gorillas in chester zoo, would love to see some. i did get to see the orangutans, i have some statues of these. i love them so much.

hope everyone is having a good day.

MunkiBaby · 18/05/2007 23:04

My ds fits 3-6 in most things, still! except shoes and socks. ((big feet? )) I do put him in some of his 6/9 clothes as well...but i have to roll down the waist 1 time so they dont fall off. even his 3/6 trousers are slightly baggy around the wait. perfect in length. as far as tops, he's fine in 3/6. same with babygros, vests, etc. with all this talk about everyones lo's being in 6/9/12, im getting a little worried! I havent a clue what he weighs now. last weigh-in was only a month & a half.

I'm kinda hoping he has hit the 9kg/20 pound point so that we can put him in a foward facing car seat! ((its been a long while since i've sat in the front passenger seat next to dh! i've been a bit of a worry wort since september, im not comfortable unless i can see and reach him))

I hope you all have lovely weekends planned! and very much like HH, im really really hoping for a rain free weekend. Tomorrow DH has ds for most of the day while i go to chester for a bit of shopping and a hair appointment with the MIL. I've never really left ds with anyone, even dh, for more than 3-4 hours at a time. I'm already getting nervous and feeling a bit.... And of course it has to be just after ds started his "clingy-to-mommy" phase.

Kream, i hope both lo's feel better soon!!! with both of them unwell, it must be very stressful for you and the kiddies.

*OMG! dh just wonke me up! i must've dozed off while typing this post...i think it was an hour or so! ha! ok i've reallllyyy gotta get to bed!

Happy Friday, mums!!

MunkiBaby · 18/05/2007 23:05

correction! woke NOT wonke.

kreamkrackers · 19/05/2007 14:04

hi everyone both dd's are much better already today, they both had a good night's sleep and it's done us all the world of good.

mb, hope you got a good nights sleep after your last post, you poor thing you sound so exhausted.

reading through the girls red books to compare sizes, got dd2 weighed two weeks ago and she was 16lb15 and dd1 at her age was only 14lb. they both look completely different as babies dd1 was short but chubby whereas dd2 is long and slim. my sister's two boys are so alike, they were both big babies and when we look at photos of the older one you really would think it was the younger one. how's everyone elses babies compare to their bro/sis if they have one?

hope everyone is having a good weekend.

kseaj · 19/05/2007 21:49

hello everyone

It's been ages since i posted on here and to many posts to catch upon so i have only read the most recent ones.

Ds is doing very well and i love having a baby again so much so that i have now started to ask dh if we can have a baby 4 to which he always replies no.
I had ds weighed about 4 weeks ago and he was 18lb 15oz, he still fits into 3-6 months clothes, he is not very long so because of his weight he looks a chubby little thing.
He still has no teeth but i am sure he is now showing signs of teething.

Dh and i are taking dd and ds1 to the cinema tomorrow my mother is going to have ds2 for the day, so looking forward to spending some time with tho other 2 without thinking about feeding and changing ds2.

I hope you and are your lo's are all well i am going to try and keep up with this thread, it is nice to hear what you are all upto.

bristols · 19/05/2007 23:03

Hi all,
Well, I think I probably have the biggest baby of them all! He must weigh at least 23lb now and has been in his 9/12 month clothes for some time now. He absolutely loves his food. He's also not on the move yet so he's laying down fat ready. He was born on 3rd Sep so he is one of the oldest.

Good to see you back, LC. Try not to worry too much about your LO. Easier said than done, I know. My DS hasn't started with the 'clingy' stage yet which most of his friends have. And to make it worse, one of their mummies said that it was an important stage for them to go through because its how they learn about love and it affects their relationships later in life!! Slightly worried me but I'm sure it will come...

Marls - V envious of your size 2 figure. Don't think I'll ever be that size. Good for you!

Am watching George Michael on Parkinson at the moment. Am v sad because I am such a HUGE George fan and I have tickets to see him in June but I can't go Am gutted. Such is life.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend, Ladies

mabel1973 · 20/05/2007 20:50

Bristols my ds hasn't done the clingy stage either. I rememeber DS1 going through it at 6 or 7 months. I didn't realise it was important, i just assumed DS2 was a more chilled out baby (which he is), he is happy to go to anyone, however he does reach for me when he wants to come back to me!

I have got a tough week coming up, DH is so busy with the business he is out most nights this week, which means I have to do everything on my own all day right through to bedyime. On the flip side DH doesn't get to see the boys except 1st thing in the morning so he does get quite down about that.
It is good that the business is taking off though, we can't complain..

bristols · 21/05/2007 16:02

Mabel, I'm not sure it is that important. I'm sure they'll get there in the end and then we'll be waiting for them to get over it again!

It is exhausting doing everything all day long, isn't it? My DH is out of the house until 7 or 8pm everday except Thursdays so I know how you feel. At least I only have one to contend with, though! Glad the business is going well. As my mother says "sometimes you can't have it all." Not particularly helpful when you want it all!

Went shopping in Bluewater today. Bought a hat to wear to Ascot. DS and I had a lovely time mooching in the shops. Was walking back to the car, feeling very pleased with my purchases when I realised that I no longer had the hat!! It was huge, in a big hat box but I had managed to put it down somewhere and forget it. Retraced all my steps but no one had it. Absolutely gutted. Not only did it cost £50, but I really liked it.

I left my details with the consierge desk in the hope that someone would hand it in. And they did Got a phone call just as I got in so I'll be back over there later in the week. Nightmare!

compo · 21/05/2007 18:59

Poor you Bristols. That is just the sort of thing I do all the time.
I love Bluewater by the way, but just want to spend spend spend there so dh restricts my access
Finally got dd weighed today (last time was 8 week check!) and she is 20lb 4oz!

compo · 21/05/2007 19:01

mabel - good luck this week. I can sympathise - I hate doing bath and bedtime on my own, usually persuade ds to watch cbeebies whilst I put dd to bed but it's a long day isn't it? No idea how single parents doing but huge respect to them

bristols · 21/05/2007 19:03

Perhaps we could do a mini meet up in Bluewater? Good excuse to go. DH couldn't complain about that...

nickiey · 21/05/2007 19:35

Hello, ive wandered over from my own pity me thread-
Ive two boys, one is 5 and the other 7 months.
I would love to meet at bluewater and was trying to organise a bluewater meetup with melminx but cocked the dates up-could I crash your meet please.

I live in saarfend, ds2 was born on the 29 sept 06 so is only just a septemeber baby, he was 4 weeks early too!

nickiey · 21/05/2007 19:37

Ohh and yup im hugely broody, the thought that ds2 could be my last baby is really hard to take-im trying to convince dh that we should have another baby but ive got a long way to go yet!

compo · 21/05/2007 19:39

welcome to nickiey
Bluewater is a bit tricky for me to get to on public transport as dh is my taxi driver

nickiey · 21/05/2007 19:42

Thats a shame compo, I reckon we might get on!
