Hello...

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Coriander73 · 05/05/2007 08:11

well, I happened to be on the phone when he came home so he took me by surprise & just stared! Then he came near & ruffled it whilst I was still gassing (to an agency actually..at 8pm?!!). MIL loves it & kept saying to him don't touch it it looks fab etc..DH not a word. So then we get to bed & he said I'm not sure if I like it but it'll grow on me!!! Then this morning I asked him again, just as I'd woken up (so it was a bit a birdsnest - you forget that when you have it cut short!) & he said yeah, it's OK! Oh well.....

It was up to my shoulders before, now into back of neck & short on top.. .....

well done Cori, it's a brave step having all your hair cut off, but v. liberating!! Mine is quite long now after being really really short since I was 16, so over half my life!! Feels odd being able to tie it back, and DS2 keeps pulling it - DS1 was never able to... Ouch!

Went shoe shopping this morning . Bought trainers (nice ones, not exercise ones!), a top (ha ha!!) and a pair of strappy espadrille things from LK Bennett (gasp, don't look at the bill slip...). Lovely. And missed feeding time at the zoo, they were all fed and watered by the time I got back. DS2 is asleep now, and DH has taken DS1 to buy a new bicycle bell, so all I can hear is birdsong. Very very very lovely.

On a really sad note though, isn't it awful about the little girl in Portugal. Makes your blood run cold. I so hope they find her.

HenriettaHippo · 05/05/2007 13:54

PS hello LadyoftheFlowers (great name!) - are you new to our little thread, or are you someone else with a new name? Either way, welcome!

kreamkrackers · 05/05/2007 15:32

hi, don't know if anybody remembers me but i was in the antenatal thread for sept 2006. anyways my computer completely broke and i've only recently got a new one and was finally back online yesterday. i had a dd she was born 11 weeks early. my other dd has taken to her really well. don't know which thread i should be on as she does act more her corrected age than her actual age. she makes no attempts to sit, is starting to get into the crawling position, really good at standing although needs a little bit of help with balancing, on solids but is still breastfed for all her drinks. i still recognise some of the names here and just wanted to say hi again.

Coriander73 · 05/05/2007 17:49

Hi KK .....

HH..it's heartbreaking. Sends a chill through you...esp. as she's 3 & most of our DC1 are 3 or nearly 3...just awful...

compo · 05/05/2007 22:47

Hi Kreamkrackers - I remember you and was asking about you from time to time Congratulations on your dd - hope it wasn't too stressful having her so early. Stay on this thread, it's lovely to see you back

compo · 05/05/2007 22:47

ps HH and Cori - ah yes, ds is just three, totally heartbreaking and unimaginable what they are going through

mrsharrypotter · 06/05/2007 14:44

Hi KK, Hi homemama (calvemjoe waves)

It's terrible about the little girl in Portugal

Cori, I can't bd if there is the slightest chance that one of the children will wake up. If there is the smallest noise dh can forget it!

Fairy, congrats on your full nights sleep.

Marls, Congrats on your crawler. I'm at your full weeks sleep. Center Parcs is a group of holiday villages in England and Europe. Very nice. Our nearest is about 45 mins away and it's like being in a different world. Very relaxing and great for young families.

Bristols, congrats on AF

HH, it feels weird you not being CM, keep thinking, who is that?

Mabel, I hope ds's ear infection cleared up quickley and you had a good holiday.

Elizabeth is good, has started to do really good, solid nappies (sorry if tmi)and is managing to get herself all over the place without me actually seeing her move. DS had a really bad asthma flare up and had to be on oral steroids for most of the week but he's bouncing back. Take care everyone.

fairysnuff · 07/05/2007 18:32

I only heard the story today.
Why did they leave their children alone??

Why didn't they at least take a monitor, if it was so close?
or did they?

I don't know the full details, only heard about it at baby yoga today.

Coriander73 · 07/05/2007 19:52

I can't get the story & the picture of Maddy out of my head...feel so so sad. Yes, with hindsight you start to analyse all the things you should have done or not etc..personally I couldn't have left unless I had a monitor that worked within a few feet etc. Last year we took DD to Portugal (the eastern Algarve) & where we stayed the monitor wouldn't reach to the restaurant (that was in the very small villa complex) so we ended up having room service for 10 days. The guilt they must be feeling is just so overwhelming...my heart just aches for them it really does

(I'm off to Lisbon tm morning first thing for my last business trip to say goodbye to my customers etc...feels wierd)

Evening all. Hope you all had a good weekend. Well, I decided to drink on Friday night and I'm so glad I did! Had a brilliant time, all the other mums were having a drink and we all got trashed!

We went to Manchester for the weekend to visit my FIL. The journey is an absolute nightmare (its 250 miles each way) but we had a good time. Went shopping in the Trafford centre. Spent a fortune on new underwear as I have decided that, from now on, I will only wear matching undies. Wonder how long that will last?! Was looking for a dress to wear to Ascot but no luck.

Glad to hear everyone's well. We have swimming again tomorrow. Will NOT be leaving DS on the bench again...

On Wednesday we're off to Windsor for a few days. Hope the weather stays nice. As long as its dry we'll be OK.

Cori - hope it goes OK tomorrow. Your job sounds v glam. I'd love an exciting, jet setting job like that. Although I know your employers are not the best. Are you counting down the days now?

HenriettaHippo · 08/05/2007 09:56

morning all,

glad you had a good time bristols. LOL at the matching underwear. I tried that once. Didn't last all that long...!!

Cori, hope the trip goes ok.

Hi again KK, I remember you, we wondered what had happened, I'm pleased it's all turned out great for you.

Well we had a great weekend, despite rain, went to the dockside and rode a train and a fire engine boat - DS1 turned on the hose! But then he threw up all over the kitchen when we got home, and again at about midnight... thank god DH was here to do all the mopping... eugh... Ds seems fine this morning, so hoping it was just something that irritated his tummy and not a bug... fingers crossed...

MunkiBaby · 08/05/2007 14:32

Hello Again Everyone! I'm just doing my usual "fortnightly-pop-in" to try and catch up and see how every one is doing.

I really should make more time (make? ha!) to be on here more often.

MunkiBaby · 08/05/2007 15:13

Ooops! i posted too soon.

First, hello to any mum's that i haven't had the pleasure of chatting with here on the thread.

Henrietta, - Im sorry ot hear about the throwing up! ((for your sake and sanity, i hope its not a bug as well!)) is the lo feeling better?

Calvemjoe/MHP, great new name im willing to bet you are counting the days until the final book & next Film! woo hoo!

On the baby front, seems all of your lo's are absolutely thriving these days! I'm still in awe of all the new little things that they learn.

Fynn is still doing "commando-crawling" (pulls with fore arms and shuffles knees)), i'm convinced its the only way he's going to crawl. Its still very cute to see though.

Over the past 2 weeks, ds has had a Goopy, Watery Eye thing going on. Just when i go to make an appointment at the GP, it seems like its clearning up...and of course, after all the appt's are booked up, the goop comes-a-flowin! eew! poor little lad. i think its bothering me more than its bothering him. ((but isnt that usually the case??))

Broody??? good gawww, i can't stop thinking of having a 2nd! Im sure the influence from the MIL and SIL's isnt helping! Even though i'm on the minipill, sometimes i wish for a mistake. and other times, i'm grateful to be showering my one n only with love and full attention. I've batted around the idea that maybe i will stop taking the pill in september...but who can say?!?

Coriander73 · 08/05/2007 15:43

Hi from Lisbon! It´s 29 degrees & of course I´m wearing the wrong set of clothes... My customers are being oh so nice to me & it´s making me feel rather sad - it doesn´t seem fair that I have to give up my job that I´m bloody good (!!) at just becuase they wont bend a little..

OP posts:
MunkiBaby · 08/05/2007 16:02

Cori- i'm feeling sad for you! it's got to be very tough.

MunkiBaby · 08/05/2007 16:03

...the job, of course! not too tough suffering the lovely weather of lisbon!

HenriettaHippo · 08/05/2007 19:36

hi munkibaby! Good to see you again (I was cmow before, but had a change of name too, inspired by MrsHP - btw, I can't wait for the new book...).

DS1 seems absolutely fine now, didn't eat much today until tea time when he wolfed back a poached egg on toast so fast that I hardly had time to breathe. So hopefully all well. Fingers crossed it wasn't a bug and we don't all get it tonight!! I feel fine at the moment, and having a glass of wine to anaesthetise the stomach just in case...!!!

Got a weekend away without children booked in! My parents will come and look after them while we go to a wedding somewhere near Louth, Lincs. Is that near anyone? It's a bit north and east of Lincoln I think. Bloody miles from here... couldn't be much further! So we have to go on Friday and won't be back til Sunday afternoon. What a shame!!! We're planning to stay in a pub about 3/4 of the way there on the Friday night.

homemama · 09/05/2007 12:39

Hi everyone, hope you all enjoyed the long weekend.
Cori, it just seems so pointless. Surely in the long run it's better to keep a member of staff who you know to be good at their job? You must feel so frustrated.

HH, glad your DS is feeling better. It's miserable when they're ill. When is your w/e away? DH is nagging me to go away for the w/e but (and I know this is stupid) I find it hard to relax when someone else has my kids. I've told him a better idea is for him to have them for the w/e and I'll go to a spa with a couple of girlfriends! Not sure how that keeps my marriage on track though!

Munkibaby, hope DS's eye clears up soon.

Nothing to report here, just popped on to say hi!

HenriettaHippo · 09/05/2007 15:12

hello,

hm, the weekend is end of June. I am looking forward to it... I went on a spa weekend with girlfriends last year, kept my marriage on track because I was happy!! And DH did actually enjoy having DS on his own for a while (it was only DS then, I was still pg).

Did you read MNTowers have come to agreement with Gina Ford. At last.

compo · 09/05/2007 20:27

Evening everyone. HH - I saw that, thank goodness, and we can now say 'Gina Ford' - woo hoo!!
A weekend away sounds great. I've got one coming up at the end of June. Just me with some old mates hitting the town... bliss.
I think I mentioned before that weaning has been a slow process with dd. Well she's 8 months next week and things seem to have picked up a bit. She's still on 4 bottles a day but today she ate some bread and cheese off my finger... quite an achievement as finger foods have been a disaster so far. Even ds was impressed and said 'dd eating my sandwich mummy' so cute! She also has some cream off a friends' pavlova at a BBq at the w/end - yes, I know the Mumsnet plice would throttle me but she loved it!!

compo · 09/05/2007 20:28

that's police lol

MunkiBaby · 10/05/2007 08:18

Morning.

MunkiBaby · 10/05/2007 08:34

One more thing i wanted to add:

Now, perhaps it's because i may have too much time on my hands lately ((how's that possible?!?)) but am i a total saddo for taking down little notes here and there for ds's 1st birthday party?!?!?

Has anyone else thought about it yet? ok ok ok so we're 4-5 months away from the big day...but still! doesnt the idea sound so sweet?

before being a parent, i always thought "A baby will never remember it so whats the point?"... oh lordy, how that thought has changed!!!! I'm not wanting to go over the top or anything now but definitely have family and close friends over (make it more of a family gathering instead of a huge kiddie party). Perhaps 1st birthdays are here so that we can celebrate the parents who've first year with baby and all the sleepless nights and poopy nappies, etc! hehehe

any excuse for a party

Coriander73 · 10/05/2007 08:47

Morning

Back from Lisbon...can you believe it took me two hours from Gatwick to the Dartford tunnel?! Finally got home at 8pm but it should have only taken 1.30! I was seething as I'd be on track to get home & put the children to bed but it was not to be

Munki, no party plans for DS!!! We have though already booked something for DD who'll be three also in Sep. She hasn't had a party yet so we thought we'd make a big effort now she's a bit older & understands a bit more (that's nursery for you!!) For DS I'm sure it'll just be us & maybe Grandma as it was for DD - personally I think it's very overwhelming to have a big do when they're so small
